Always appreciate a decent pho place in this area. I know others found the pho broth to be bland here but I personally liked it and so did my kids. Price was reasonable but portions were a bit on the smaller end. We also had their wings which were just ok and their spring rolls which were decent. My son did not like their pork chops and rice. Service is super slow and hard to get the one waiters attention as he's busy doing pretty much everything by himself including taking care of takeout orders. They need at least one more waiter. All in all, a decent place. Not sure if I would return though.

Very friendly staff the moment we walked in. I ordered for take out -Meat and shrimp spring rolls -Lemongrass chicken vermicelli Their fish sauce is light which is very refreshing (paired for both dishes ). Meats are very well seasoned and vegetables to balance it all Looking forward to trying more dishes here

Culantro & Basil opened in January/ 2026 this is our 1st visit (NOTE: my family and I were patrons of the old establishment for several years) Culantro & Basil Pho Bistro has light color decor, making it feel refreshing. I like the vibe better than the old restaurant. FOR LUNCH: we had Veggie Egg Rolls (6 for $9.25) the egg rolls are little. In my opinion size is great for an appetizer. The taste was good nothing special. I got the large Seafood Pho ($16.15) the LARGE soup big enough for those that like leftovers. SOUP had some flavor, but shrimp, fried fish balls, imitation crab and the fried fish had ZERO FLAVOR. (the table is set with store bought condiments, so I guess a person can add sriracha or hoisin sauce) but aside from those types of condiments the food was bland. To drink I got the THAI TEA, that was good. The server (a young man, a student at Fullerton) was working alone. Serving tables, cleaning tables, cashiering and trying to greet people. He was not the most accurate at serving nor was he the most friendly but then again he was doing it solo. Lunch was $35.72 plus tip so I'm not that upset for having lunch here, but I probably wont return.

Such a cute place! We came in an hour before closing, and we were sat right away. Only one other couple was sitting and it was clear they were regulars which is always a great sign. We ordered a 2 topping regular size pho with rare flank and brisket, sweet soy garlic wings, a Vietnamese coffee with banana cream and a matcha latte with ube cream. Everything came out in a timely manner and tasted made to order, the man who served us was very kind and attentive to us which is always a plus. Vietnamese Coffee w/ Banana Cream: 9.5/10, best coffee in the area, banana cream tasted fresh, I wish they had bigger sizes! Matcha w/ Ube Cream (boyfriend rating): 9.5/10 best matcha he's had in the state, he likes the matcha to milk ratio and loves the more earthy taste while still being smooth, can definitely taste that it was made fresh Sweet Soy Garlic Wings: 10/10 absolutely amazing! fried to perfection, the sauce was amazing and did not take away the crispiness of the wings, will absolutely be coming back for these Pho: 8/10 The pho hit the spot for sure, our only dings for it were in regard to the broth that could've had a bit more flavor and the noodles were more soggy for our preferences. Will absolutely come back for the coffee and wings (I'm even debating coming back tomorrow for the coffee) and would love to try the rest of menu! Would highly recommend :)

Shrimp only Spring Rolls, Lemongrass Vermicelli with Chicken Vermicelli & a Tofu Vermicelli

Our 1st time trying Culantro & Basil Pho Bistro and we had high hopes for it. Restaurant was clean, quiet, with only another group of people there. We started with the Shrimp only Spring Rolls (3), and for our meal we each had the Lemongrass Vermicelli. We ordered the Chicken Vermicelli & a Tofu Vermicelli, both were very flavorful. Our food came out fairly quickly. Happy we tried this place, it didn't disappoint. I look forward to trying their Vietnamese coffee next!

First time to Culantro & Basil Pho since they opened in January. The restaurant is renovated from its previous owner. I like the lighter, fresher interior color palette. There is one server, Lawrence, working the entire room so he can be hustling during busy hours. We order a beef pho and pork chop rice dish. The two pork chops were thinner than when I think of pork chops and they were cut in a way I hadn't seen before. I cut a bite sized and ate it. Oh my, so, so flavorful. Then I realized the thinness and cuts infuses the flavor into the meat. Nice touch. The beef pho was good . The broth was light but tasty. The beef was very well done so a bit chewy for me. I like my beef more tender. Lawrence came around and twice checked on each table. It's not GG, but it will do nicely if pho is calling you.

Appetizer Combo (Egg rolls and Shrimp & Pork Spring Rolls)

Overall solid Vietnamese cuisine. We don't have many Viet places in the AH/YL area so it's nice to have options. We got the vermicelli and rice charbroiled pork and beef dishes. Both were tasty. The nuoc mam is solid, more fishy and less spicy than other places. We also enjoyed the appetizer combo which was convenient because most places don't let you mix and match. I loved the spring rolls- they add the crispy wrapper inside which most places don't do. The egg rolls were pretty small but the filling was good. The matcha is Hugh quality but not overly sweet (you can ask for more sweetness). The Vietnamese coffee with the salty foam was also solid, similar to 7Leaves-style Viet coffee. Servers were fast and nice, food came out quick. The inside was also remodeled from the old viet place that used to be here. The stand-out dishes are probably the drinks and the appetizers.

Banh Mi Fries - destroyed by my kids (we added extra sauce on top too) sorry it's not an aesthetic picture

Just had dinner at the new Vietnamese restaurant near our place off of La Palma in the in-n-out plaza (Anaheim Hills Village Center), tucked in the corner by the party party store and out of the park pizza. We walked in and it was empty except for one family, but I'm hoping with this review it won't be the case for long because oh man we had a delicious dinner and service after a long time!!!! We met with the owner who was super friendly and welcoming, and nicely chatted with us. We were a table of 4 (my husband, myself, and our two young kids (a 5 and 7 year old) who like pho but were also hungry post karate so we needed more options and boy did they deliver). We had the veggie egg rolls, soy garlic wings, the bahn mi fries, and shared a large bowl of brisket pho! EVERYTHING WAS PERFECTION!!! I'm not joking, everything came piping hot and exactly what you expected flavor wise. The pho was excellent and perfect for these chilly cold nights we've been having, but oh my god the kids DEVOURED, and I mean destroyed the bahn mi fries that I can see us picking that up to go sometimes as some good comfort food to chill at home to eat too! (Hence the picture being half eaten lol) The garlic wings were extra crispy, great glaze too! The veggie egg rolls were great, they didn't stand out from other egg rolls ive had elsewhere but not disappointed either, they were just good veggie egg rolls. Overall great service too and would easily come back! Please come tell everyone and support! They only opened like 3 weeks ago!

Vietnamese milk coffee with ube cream

Bottom Line Up Front: Anaheim Hills and Yorba Linda is devoid of exceptional pho restaurants and unfortunately Culantro & Basil will not be changing that. But if you're craving pho and don't want to drive to Garden Grove, it will scratch that itch. The Backstory: Culantro & Basil Pho Bistro is the third or fourth Vietnamese restaurant to set up shop in this very locationin the past decade. Every time it changes hands, I am always hopeful that the new owners will set a new precedent by bringing Grade-A pho to the area. I'm still hoping ... The Food: My wife and I ordered the Combination Pho, Banh Mi fries, Vietnamese Milk Coffee with Ube Cream, and Matcha Latte with Banana Cream. The pho (Vietnamese beef noodle soup) was standard. The quality, texture, and taste were all just average. The Banh Mi fries was a cool concept: it's all of the ingredients of a Vietnamese grilled pork sandwich, with delicious house-made aioli sauce, placed on a bed of fries. It was an enjoyable dish, though the fries were a little dry. The Vietnamese Milk Coffee with Ube Cream was solid for a non-cafe establishment. Unfortunately, my wife did not like her Matcha Latte with Banana Cream. The Setting: Culantro & Basil Pho Bistro is located in the same shopping complex as In-N-Out and several other stores and restaurants, which means the parking lot can get quite crowded during peak hours -- especially because there's no entrance/exit along Imperial Highway, so everyone gets funneled to the small intersection along La Palma Avenue. Inside, the restaurant is brightly lit, well organized, and clean. The Service: Our server was polite, somewhat reserved, and relatively responsive. He apologized when we flagged one of water cups having lipstick on it and checked in on us on occasion. That's a nice change from the usually cold or non-existent customer service at old-school Asian restaurants. The Conclusion: Culantro & Basil Pho Bistro probably won't win any awards any time soon, as the pho in its namesake is just so-so (or mid, as the kids say these days). But if you live in the area and have a craving for Vietnamese food, it will do.

    Tofu Spring Rolls - Delicious!
    Dave B.

Looking for a great vermicelli restaurant, we found Culantro. And glad we did! Culantro & Basil Pho Bistro is so much more than another Pho restaurant. They had a great selection of not only pho, but rice and noodle dishes, what we went in for, vermicelli. We started off with an order of the tofu spring rolls which had a delightful crunch and a lot of flavor. For entrees we ordered vermicelli. I ordered the chargrilled pork and egg roll version and my wife got the lemongrass and tofu vermicelli. Both of these were excellent. Lots of flavor and a nice ample portion. Please don't think of this place as a cold weather pho stop. They had a lot of options and the vermicelli was perfect on a hot day. The restaurant was clean and nice and I loved the music they were playing. Overall, we are very glad we found Culantro & Basil Pho Bistro. It is nice and close to home and conveniently located in the In n Out shopping center corner. Already looking forward to our next trip back.

Right to the point: The food was tasty. I had the pho and the broth was flavorful and delicious. The vermicelli looked beautiful and it was good. The service was welcoming although it quickly got stretched thin as a couple large parties came in. Overall really great though. Friendly and attentive. The bathrooms are large and clean. I don't know why they bother labeling them with genders since they're both single person bathrooms. The place is clean with new furniture (as expected as they recently opened). Great spot for locals to get some pho without having to head out to GG or something.

Banh mi fries. That creamy cilantro sauce so gooood!

I don't really review places anymore, but I sometimes come out of retirement to show support for small businesses I want to do well! I'm a fan of Culantro and Basil in West Covina, so when I heard they were opening a second location with drinks, I knew I had to try! The menu at both locations differ a bit in the offerings. I came during soft opening with some friends and we shared the banh mi fries, pho, egg rolls, and soy garlic wings. Banh mi fries were crispy with a creamy cilantro sauce - my toddler kept going back for more. Wings were fried to perfection with super crispy skin, juicy inside and savory sauce. Pho - what we came here for - flavorful and complex broth, I didn't need to add hoisin or sriracha which says a lot. If you have a picky eater like my toddler, I guarantee they will devour the pho! My matcha latte was delicious, not too sweet and just the right amount of creaminess. As a huge matcha snob, I can confirm the matcha used in the drinks is high quality, not the bitter, flavorless type you get at Costco (no hate on Costco, though). Also love that it's oat milk based so my lactose intolerant self doesn't have to pay a pricey upcharge for alternative milk! This is a much needed pho spot in the Anaheim Hills area, and you no longer have to venture out to Westminster for Vietnamese food! Service was quick and friendly, and store is super clean~
