Well I used to come here and enjoy it when there was live music and the upstairs was open. Today we came and the fire pit was going outside on the rooftop. But of course we couldn't sit upstairs?! What's the point of a rooftop if you can't even use it 90% off the time. Then we chose our table as it was empty downstairs other than the waiters/waitresses significant others. Waiting 10 min to get water we already knew this was going to be a disaster. Little did I know the service would be worse than a disaster. We ordered drinks and food all at once with the knowledge that Indy the waitress was bound to give us no attention. Our drinks were at the bar waiting and waiting for us to just have a sip. The bartender on her phone speaking to her friend... I decided I'll grab my own drinks since they sat there no less than 15 minutes melting away. She still did not notice. Wild. Strike 2 Now we go back to our table to receive half our food that came out with the appetizers- not typically how it should be but I will give them a break since there was 3 other people at tables LOL. As the rest of our food came she did not check on us but instead would bring water and food to what I assume was her boyfriend since she was all over him at the bar. Not one person filled our waters. Every person working there was on their phone. On top of that the hostess asked the bartender "would you like to take this table (our table)" she loudly said NO. The manager we overheard I want to say his name is Malcolm was complaining about how he doesn't get paid enough and doesn't want to be there. So can I just say this is my new "mom" spot. I brought my sister's mother in law here for brunch after getting her nails done next door. We dined downstairs this time because of her pedicure but that did not stop the phenomenal customer service. I even saw a familiar face from my last visit. Terin I think her name was ?? She even asked how my mom was doing. :) I was a little under the weather this time, so I had a hot tea and started off with yesterday's soup as an appetizer. The soup came with a decent portion of chicken however it wasn't very flavorful. Like I said, I was under the weather so it very well could have been my taste buds not cooperating. Mrs. Parks had water with lemon despite my recommendation of the garden mule my mom ordered last time. For the entree, My brunch date had the fried chicken and I had the two eggs any way. Our server Moses said that was their Waffle House version. It wasn't bad but I do prefer the actual Waffle House version. My date for the day loved her entree. I'm surprised she didn't lick her plate! lol. But overall, another great experience while dining at the Culinary Dropout. I did inquire about the peach cobbler but it was no longer available. :( I will say theres a new parking system that had me a bit confused. For Atlanta, I thought Culinary Dropout was OK. The food was OK to good, the service could've been better, and the atmosphere was fun. This is a contemporary American restaurant and bar. Culinary Dropout is a restaurant chain from Fox Restaurant Concepts. Atlantans may be familiar with some of Fox's other brands like Flower Child and Zinburger (all Georgia locations of Zinburger are now closed). This location of Culinary Dropout opened in November 2023 at the Brickworks development in the Marietta Street Artery of West Midtown. Same building as Food Terminal. Culinary Dropout is in the space previously occupied by the last location of 5 Seasons Brewing. That location of 5 Seasons closed in February 2019. For years, during the pandemic and after, the space sat empty until Culinary Dropout revived it. A second Atlanta location of Culinary Dropout opened in February 2024 at Ashford Lane in Dunwoody (Perimeter). When we visited, plenty of parking was available atop the Brickworks roof. Culinary Dropout has two floors of bars and dining. There's both an entrance on the rooftop - conveniently connected to the rooftop parking lot - and an entrance on the street. On their website and on OpenTable, Culinary Dropout says they validate parking for the first 2 hours. Scan the QR code at the hostess stand to validate. The parking confirmation I got on my phone from ParkWhiz actually gave me free parking for 2.5 hours. Also, we stayed for closer to 3 hours and I wasn't charged anything for the overage. This was on a Friday from 6:30pm to after 9:15pm. Book your reservation using OpenTable and earn dining points which can be used to redeem restaurant discounts, Amazon gift cards, hotel stays, and magazine subscriptions. Culinary Dropout awards points - not all restaurants on OpenTable do - so that's a plus. Happy hour is Monday-Friday, 3pm-6pm, and brunch hours are Saturday-Sunday, 10am-3pm. The restaurant is spacious with a wide variety of seating options and several TVs (but not as many as a sports bar). Upstairs and downstairs, there are bars, different dining rooms/spaces, and patios. Upstairs is the rooftop patio. Downstairs is the big bar and Marietta Street patio. We dined in one of the back dining rooms downstairs, in a wide booth next to windows that looked into the kitchen. During our visit, business downstairs was kind of slow. However, when we exited upstairs, the upstairs bar area looked pretty happening. My wife and I like the interior design and decor, which is amusing, stylish, and eclectic. Walls contain images of pop culture icons like Pink and Post Malone. Below is a list of what we ordered. For the Fried Chicken specifically, the menu says, "be patient - it's worth it!" We didn't wait any longer than a normal dish and it was indeed worth it. Quality fried chicken. Our least favorite item was the Chopped Chicken Salad. It wasn't bad, it was just drowning in dressing. The ingredients were fresh enough, though. All of us liked the Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue and Wagyu Pigs in a Blanket. While the pretzels (not the cheese sauce) were salty, the texture was terrific. Not too soft and not too hard - an appetizing chew. If the menu didn't say the pigs in a blanket were "Wagyu," I don't think any of us would've been able to tell the difference. Regardless, they were tasty. The rest of the dishes were fine. Pretty standard. Again, nothing was bad, but nothing blew us away either. The 36-Hour Pork Ribs were solid. They had good smoky flavor and tang, and were nice and tender -- not fall-off-the-bone, but a bit chewier. The Hot Wings, White Truffle Deviled Eggs, and Beer Battered Fish & Chips were all par for the course. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those. The service was incredible. The receptionist was very nice and immediately took us to our table for 8. The manager greeted us and stopped by multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. Anyone who worked there that passed your table stopped and spoked to you. Everyone in our party talked about how great they made us feel. The cocktails were good. They make there ginger agave syrup in house and you can taste the freshness of the ingredients. The food was ok. I was super excited to try the pretzels and cheese. So coming from Phoenix we were happy to try Culinary Dropout because I remember liking it in Phoenix. The ambience in Midtown is nice. The restaurant has two levels and both levels have bars as well as outdoor seating. The folks working there all look super young and are dressed in regular cloths so it was a little hard to figure out who was a staff member, initially. So the service was super slow. We had a reservation for 6:30 and didn't get our drinks until at least 20 mins later and the food arrived after 7:30pm. I ordered a margarita which I didn't like...boo. It tasted like pure homemade sour mix but my partner didn't mind switching with me so I had his Evil Jungle Princess drink which was sooo tasty!!! We probably would have had a second round but like I mentioned...slow service. The food was a 10 out of 10!!! We didn't even have some of the fancier options. We shared the turkey pastrami sandwich and the mushroom pizza. What they did with that pizza...divine! Pastrami...delicious! I didn't really try the pizza because of the pork, but my date didn't even finish it, he said that it was terrible. The shrimp and zucchini fries were super greasy and over seasoned. I have gone to Culinary Dropout three times now and been to this particular location twice. I've gone for both brunch and dinner, as well as sat on the rooftop and in the main dining area downstairs. This particular time we went for Mother's Day and our waiter was very accommodating and made sure we were well taken care of. Too bad it was his last day, but he really made sure we were good. He was able to provide recommendations as well as keep us informed about our food as it did take some time to receive, but I appreciate him communicating with us. One of the managers also came over to make sure that we were okay and informed us about our food as well so the service was definitely great. So let's get into the food. We really enjoyed everything we had and like I said, I've been a number of times and tried something different every time and have still been very pleased with the food. We got the appetizer and it was actually very good. We really enjoyed the strawberries which helped balance the saltiness from the feta. All components paired well together. The bread was nice and toasted well so it was definitely a delicious bite. We got the fish and chips, the fried chicken, the chicken cacio e pepe (which is a new menu item), and the salmon with the Farro. Everyone really enjoyed their dishes. They also have amazing drinks. We were going hoping to get the sweater weather sangria, which is what we got the last time we went for brunch. They change out their menu occasionally to different seasonal options so we got the watermelon sangria, and it actually was delicious as well so again didn't disappoint. I absolutely enjoyed this restaurant. We searched Yelp while visiting Atlanta and we decided we'd try something different. We reserved a table for an early evening dinner the day of. I was new to this location so I ended up paying for parking...however when you enter the restaurant there is a QR code for validation...so just an FYI, don't pay right away. Scan the code upon arrival for parking. Have your vehicle info handy. We were immediately greeted at the door seated upon arrival. Everyone was kind and made sure we were well informed on menu options. One of the managers also pitched in to check on us and made sure we had a stellar dining experience. This spot has been on my list to try out for some time. My sister was in town and we needed a spot for Sunday brunch. I was like let's try Culinary Dropout since neither of us had been previously. Finding this spot was a little challenging for us. GPS said we had arrived and had us turn into the brick works plaza where sling shot is located. I called the restaurant and was told to take the stairs up go right and then follow the signs for Culinary Dropout. Let's just say it took us trying to get into 3 doors prior to getting to the correct entrance door! We were pretty pitiful. When we walked in there were about 4 staff standing at the host stand. We were quickly seated towards the back of the restaurant. The first thing I noted is that this place is MASSIVE!! They have a large amount of seating options. Our wait staff came over with glasses of water and walked away. She did not ask if we had any questions or go over the menu. She came back and asked if we wanted to place drink orders. We were going to order brunch food given that it was around 11:30am. As such, I needed coffee. I could not find it on the menu but our wait staff said they do have it. I ordered a cup. It was average at best and cost around $5. Not worth it to me. Price point should be more like 2.99 or 3.99 max. Our waiter attempted to walk away again after dropping the coffee off but we told her we were ready to place our orders. We needed to make sure we had ample time to enjoy our food because my sister had a flight she needed to catch. I ordered the southwest breakfast bowl and my sister opted for the house smoked salmon. Now this is why the one point was taken away! It took what felt like forever for the food to come out. Both dishes are so basic that I honestly don't know what took so long. When we first arrived there were only about 5 other tables with guest. It took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive after placing our order. As such, i would NOT recommend coming here if your time is limited. When the food finally arrived we were both impressed with what was received. My sister's only area of concern was the small portion of salmon received along with only having 1 egg. The meal came with 4 slices of toast so the portion of salmon and egg to bread was off. My friend had the fried chicken and really enjoyed it as well. I took off one star because they were out of the first 2 drinks I tried to order. I visited this location prior to their official opening, and despite a little hiccup, we had the BEST time. At the time, I did not have to pay for parking. When I asked about the normal rates, I believe they said $10 for 2 hours, but CD will validate for 2 hours also. The decor inside is so cute and trendy. It was giving elevated sports bar vibes. Nothing too fancy, but not too laid back either. The bar was huge! I noticed they had indoor/outdoor space, as well as a rooftop. Definitely a multipurpose space. Cool place to catch a game, a cute lil date, or a girls night starting point. The crowd was diverse, and the music was mixed nicely. Some sexy music, some fun music. My seating area was a little weird. We were sitting along the wall in a booth situation, but the booth feels like you're gonna fall to the ground. The seats are at an angle and so it feels like you're sliding a bit. Now, here's what I had to drink/eat: Playboi stache - excellent! fruity, smooth, delicious!! Southern Sidecar - so good!! Comes with a can of cider. Plus, they have a good variety of options if your party has a variety of dietary restrictions or preferences like vegetarian, healthy, carnivore, etc. But you have the most options here if you eat meat. I came here for brunch on a Sunday around 2pm and it was very relaxed. There were a few occupied tables where it wasn't empty but it wasn't packed either. It seems as though you could def be immediately seated without a reservation. But it was also on Super Bowl Sunday, so that might've been a factor in the vacancy of the restaurant. There is a paid parking lot behind the building, but you can also get FREE street parking on Sundays right out front. There were plenty of open street spaces for me to take. My colleagues and I dinned here 1/31 for a late bday celebration. I LOVE this restaurant and everything about it! It's a beautiful establishment that provides an unpretentious upscale atmosphere. I wish I could remember the young ladies name that served us because she was an absolute delight and our entire party appreciated her service. Now on to the FOOD and cocktails. We had several appetizers to include the smoked salmon dip and kettle chips, pretzels and fondue, crispy shrimp and zucchini with garlic aioli sauce. The flavors and freshness were all there! I had never tried smoked salmon dip and now I'm craving it and considering driving back to the city tonight for a night cap and more lol! Came here for brunch with a friend of mine and we had a blast! Made reservations via opentable and when I received confirmation, there was information regarding parking at the Brickworks with a code that validated parking for 2 hours. So don't pay for parking because they will validate it for you or use the code provided in the reservation confirmation. The hostess let me know that if you do pay to park, then ask them to validate that they will not be able to do anything about it. It's located right at the split of Howell Mill and Marietta with plenty of parking available. The space is huge (I believe it took over the 5 seasons brewery) with a big bar, lots of tvs, an upstairs area, and a patio. We came on a Sunday morning around 11:30 for brunch and it was pretty quiet. Our waitress was super sweet and made sure we were taken care of. We started with the soft pretzel bites with the most amazing, delicious provolone fondue. The pretzel bits were warm and light. The fondue was gooey and delicious. I initially was going to get the breakfast burrito (my friends got it and it was hugeeee and she said it was really good) but ended up changing my order to the crispy kale salad. The salad was delicious. It was super simple with romaine, kale, and the most flavorful crispy shrimp. It wasn't drenched in dressing either. Decided to try this place for brunch - Parking was really easy and the interior of the place is very clean, industrial + artsy. The vibes are nice and the staff all looked put together. Our server was really nice and explained the menu very well. He was super helpful and I never had to ask for water. His attention to detail was pleasant and attention to us was very nice. I got the Fried chicken and biscuit and added bacon on the side & wow. The biscuit and gravy were perfect and the gravy had a little kick to it. Culinary dropout is an absolute must try restaurant! The menu has a little bit of everything for everyone and the food is absolutely amazing. I went during their opening weekend. It was not disappointment. The service was on point. Everyone was super nice and accommodating. They had live music tonight that I went as well which is a really nice touch. The space is huge. I came in from the upstairs entrance not knowing about the downstairs area until we started walking around. But there is indoor and outdoor seating, so it will be great to accommodate a big group. I have dreams of sitting by that fireplace with a nice glass of wine during this time of year. No, let's talk about the food. Everything that I had was to die for. We started off with a charcuterie board. You have to get the truffle cheese... You have to get it! That cheese is so amazing with the bread that has the balsamic and olive oil on it ... Yum. we also had pork belly nachos which were amazing as well. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. The fried chicken reminded me of fried chicken from your grandma... So good. My friend said the salmon was delicious. I don't eat fish so I can't tell you. The Korean ribeye has a spicy elementally, but is really good. To me the value of what you get on the plate doesn't match the price but it does taste delicious. Dessert were also good. I liked the dessert with the banana on top more than the monkey bread just my personal opinion. The cocktails I had were Evil jungle princess and Retro tropical classic. Both pretty good. We saw that today was opening day on IG so I rushed to make reservations! They had lots of availability when I booked 2 days prior to opening. First impressions - LOVE everything about this place! If you park in the deck upstairs, they validate for 2h. Everyone was super pleasant and helpful. We decided to sit upstairs on the rooftop. We got there at 6:30pm and the band was setting up to play so we sat outside near the fireplace - we had our 8mo old daughter and didn't want the music to be too loud. We sat near the fireplace so it kept us perfectly warm. We had 4 different cocktails - forgot the names! They were all delicious though. Our waiter, Mike was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us make some great choices! We ordered the tahini dip and crispy shrimp as starters. The dip was the perfect mix of savory and sweet and paired great with the toasted bread. It's a very rich dip and was a little too salty for me, but my hubby loved it. The crispy shrimp was average - I didn't like that the breading flaked off so easily and seemed kind of moist. It came with a cream based dip but I didn't try it. For our entree we shared the fried chicken. Mike had the kitchen split our order and we got it on 2 separate plates which was nice. The fried chicken was flavorful and had the perfect crispy shell. The coleslaw was my favorite. The biscuit was super thick but moist - it was impossible to finish! They had a kids menu for my 6yo daughter. She ordered the chicken tenders and fries and loved it. From appetizers to dessert the soft opening of Culinary Dropout was wonderful. The staff was fun and welcoming and our server Mike helped us navigate the menu giving us plenty of helpful suggestions. We began our meal with two perfectly balanced drinks, the campfire vibes and the giddy up espresso martini. Then we enjoyed an appetizer of hot coppa, truffle creacenza, and prosciutto deviled eggs along with some fabulously delicious grilled bread. For our entrees we dined on steak frites, 36 hr. Pork ribs, and the roasted salmon. For dessert we indulged in the banana bar. Overall a fabulous soft opening and we can't wait to return once they open in a few days. Had such an amazing time at Culinary Dropout this past week! The staff was incredibly welcoming and is obviously very excited for this spot to open up. We felt extremely taken care of and got checked on by multiple people. The food itself was soo good as well. Nothing we ordered we did not like. Highlights were for sure the deviled eggs, the pretzels and fondue, and the monkey bread!! I definitely suggest all of those. The location of this restaurant is also amazing! It is in a perfect spot between lots of other restaurants and bars! I would definitely recommend this spot as a place to watch football on Sunday and grab brunch!! This place was great. The restaurant itself was super clean and very nice. The staff was very friendly, fast service, helpful with everything. The food was really good. The chicken was cooked perfectly and super juicy. Breading was just right. Mashed potatoes were kinda average but good. The fries were above average and cooked to a nice crispy outside soft inside. The biscuit looked dry but it was not. Omg this food was great. I will definitely be back not just for the food but the great friendly service. I was debating for a while on where to take my colleague for lunch one weekday, and just decided to try this place out. It doesn't have the highest Yelp rating in town, but I did like the name. This visit was right before our flight back to Houston. I ordered the steak frites which, although was the most expensive item on the menu, ended up being well worth it, since it was delicious and really hit the spot. My colleague on the other hand ordered the fried chicken plate. It took a while to come out even though the restaurant was not very busy, due to the fried chicken, but we both really enjoyed our meal. This may have been my colleague's favorite work trip meal in the last few months. He indicated everything that comes on the plate, the biscuit, mashed potatoes, gravy, and chicken just seemed to fit together in perfect harmony. Service was satisfactory, we can't complain there. Reserved this place for dinner while i was in town to catch up with friends. This was a huge place, two stories and they provided validation with parking. While this was a great place for big groups if you're trying to meet friends, the service was a bit slow. The staff was all great and welcoming, unfortunately we were there beyond the 2 hour parking limit because it took so long to get everything. It was also a Wednesday night with not much of a crowd. When the food came out, there were a few hits and a few misses. A mixed review for the food as they all looked great but some came out to be a little underwhelming. read more

So this is a really good area overall in this spot is relatively new but I've been waiting to try. It has an upstairs and a downstairs so depending on where you come in, you can pick which area you want to sit at. The upstairs comes right to the parking lot. You have to pay the park so just keep that in mind. But you walk right through the door and you're right at the greeting station. You'll hook a right and then you'll see all of the tables in the bar. The bar is a very nice size to bar as well. The tables there are lined up on the inside but you also have tables with umbrellas on the outside if you want to sit out in the sun or feel a little sun on your face as you eat. If you choose to stay inside and sit at the bar, they have big screen TVs for you so if there's something on TV or maybe a game, you can probably do that here. Now it's not set up like a sports bar so don't get that twisted, but they do have TVs. As soon as we sat down we got greeted, the waiter introduced himself and walked us through the menu because neither of us had been here before. The menu is good, half of the menu is drinks and the other half is food, so you have a lot of selections on a really big page of menu lol. I didn't drink anything I just am getting water. But I tried the brussel sprouts and the breakfast pizza. My cousin had the fried chicken he said it was really good. It looked great, it came with a full spread, coleslaw, biscuit, and several pieces of chicken. It look like it was worth it. My brussel sprouts were really good. Came in a bowl and I wish it was a bigger bowl lol but they came out hot and fresh. They seemed like they use chili oil on them because they had a kick to it, and I loved the kick. These are some really great brussel sprouts. Now the breakfast pizza that I ordered, I had no idea what it was going to be like. But it was good and super feeling. I got this at like 2:00 p.m. and I didn't eat for the rest of the day! It was a pizza that had cheese and sausage and bacon and a fried egg with some arugula. Seems like it'll be odd and weird but it really hit the spot. Again, I didn't meet again for like 24 hours after I had this pizza lol. That should tell you something. This is a really good area to be in, and this spot definitely does show out. I personally would like to try again and try a couple of other things on the menu because it seemed like it had things that need my attention lol. I know there's more than one but this is the one that I chose to go to because it was closest to where I was at the time, so I hope that all of them are consistent with this one. I've been to Culinary Dropout twice now. The 1st time was for dinner and this most recent visit was for brunch. Both times I ordered the chicken Katsu sandwich with a side house salad. The sandwich was really good and had great flavor. My friend ordered the smokehouse hash and an order of the banana bread French toast. The French toast was so good and didn't even need any syrup. We both ordered mimosas, I had the guava pineapple and my friend had the watermelon coconut. The mimosas didn't come in traditional champagne flutes, but cute little gimlets. Overall I recommend this spot. They have a very nice rooftop as well. Don't forget to scan the QR code for 2 hours of free parking. read more

I liked being able to park for free in West Midtown. Party of 2 lunch at 1pm on a Monday, so not crowded at all. They have a nice patio if you prefer fresh air while dining. We sat inside and tried the brussel sprouts and wagyu pigs in a blanket. The brussels were yummy, which I credit to the gochujang sauce. I'm not sure what's about the pigs were wagyu but the creme fraiche was slamming!! We ordered the crispy shrimp salad and strawberry and spinach salads, which were ok but nothing unique about them. I had the spicy vegan curry which on a scale of 1-5, the spice level is really low, like 1.5 which was perfect for my palate. I'd go back just to have the curry! Enjoyed very much and will be back! 5th star possible with salads being slightly better conceptually. read more

we were looking for a place to eat some appetizers or tapas and online the reviews for Culinary Dropout looked good so decided to check it out. we got the brussels sprouts, manchego cheese, whipped cheese dip with bread and ordered extra bread. the only thing that was good was the brussels sprouts which were good well and had decent flavor. the manchego cheese were two tiny pieces that had no flavor, the bread was average and the whipped cheese itself had no flavor but the flavor came from the toppings. and it was expensive for the portion given - so overall average to below average food and not good service read more

I really wish I could give them 5 stars but I just can't. If we went off of food alone it would definitely be 5/5. The food was delicious the biscuits were so light and fluffy and everything was seasoned amazing. The issues we had were unfortunately from the service. We came in first thing in the morning for brunch and were one of 4 parties in the restaurant. We were the smallest party but yet half our stuff was forgotten. Our party of 4 only two meals were brought out. We waited 20 minutes before the other two meals came out and even then one order was wrong. Our server was really sweet and did try to make up for it, but we couldn't help but imagine if on such a quiet day there was this much miscommunication how much there would be on a busy day or night. I would definitely try this place again strictly for the food quality and hope we get better service next time. read more
