For the four filters replacement I was quoted $1,100 plus tax. They don't tell you that there's no options of purchasing online and you must pickup at your nearest Culligan(for me it's an hour drive each way). So for each set of replacement expect to shell out another $1,200 and drive to them for pickup. They will conveniently leave all this info out at install. Alternatively, they will also gladly charge you $200 service on top of that if you want them to pull out the old and push in the new filter which is easily done by consumer and not necessary but may save you the drive to and from Culligan if you deem that worth it. read more

would not recommend HALL's Culligan Water in the Los Angeles / Orange County area. their customer service is horrible. the technicians do not show up during their scheduled appointment times. they do not call to let you know that they are running late. Every appointment I had, they were 1 to 3 hours late. The last time I called for service, I was told that their system was down for month end reports, but it was a few days into the month. I was told that they would call me back and they never called back. The equipment is having issues making soft water and the technicians were unable to diagnose the problem after multiple trips. read more

I am actually located in Palos Verdes. I bought a Culligan SMART HE system and paid $6975 on 8/24/22, which includes 2 years of salt. The installer set the "bypass system" for specified hours so I wouldn't be watering my plants with sodium filtered water. Unfortunately, the SMART HE system has been consistently UNRELIABLE, requiring a tech service call on multiple occasions. Tech service calls take several days to a week or more, but the tech's have been great EXCEPT the fixes never stay fixed! I must check the mobile Culligan app every watering day because I can't depend upon the system! I have taken photos with my phone showing the app and the SMART HE screen on the tank that what the tech's have "fixed" hasn't stayed fixed. I was sent a customer satisfaction survey not long ago and made my complaints known in the survey....got an automated email saying someone would be contacting me....that was 8/4. I'm not holding my breath. I now see in the low ratings and YELP scores that I am not alone in being disappointed and feeling cheated. Wow, I should have read the reviews before using them for my coffee/tea shop. They don't have enough technicians out there to service your shop when their units fail. We had a commercial reverse osmosis unit system installed on Feb 2022. It's now July and we have no water pressure. We are in the drinks business and we have no water. Called the office and they don't know how anything works and can't tell me how to bypass the unit. Going to call again to see if I can find someone who can tell me how to bypass the unit. They expect us to close our shop until they can find a technician. This is just ridiculous. Don't offer commercial units if you cannot service them in time. --- Update 1) Wow, no one to help until Tuesday (4 days from now). And their price is ridiclous. Just four month in, they want me to pay them $325 to see what the problem is. And then another $150 per hour. The problem is there is an electrical panel that turns off the system every 4 months I believe. Because they want you to service their filters every 4 months. Even though the rep over the phone says the filters are changed annually for this Commercial RO system. Avoid at all cost. Use Crystal Clear Water System instead. They usually get to you in a day, their service fee are way less and their RO sytsems are just as good if not better. (doesn't have the self destruct panels, Culiigan does) to force you to pay for the quarterlly $325 + 150 /hr service. Crystal Clear also has Bypass just in case something goes wrong. Culligan does not. So if you run a businesses, avoid Culligan. They are by far the worst businses I have ever dealt with. Because of Culligan, we have no ice for 5 days. No espresso for 5 days. Have to make drinks using the tap, have to cook using the tap. I cannot beleive they installed an RO unit with no bypass in a Commerical setting. What were they thinking? read more

I almost gave this company a 3 star before they started the work because of the confusion in my verbal estimate. I didn't receive anything in writing during the entire work order. I had to call a few times to get the correct charge before my scheduled appointment. Thank God for Susie she got it all figured out for me and saved me from being over charged 188.00. Follow up- I replaced my $ 3000 Culligan water softener with an $800 system ordered on Amazon in November 2015. 7 years later and I have not had a single problem, never had to service it or do anything but put in salt, it just does the job without drama- unlike Culligan. So clearly, Culligan blaming the water for their equipment breakdowns was just nonsense, to say the least. I am reading recent reviews and I see things really have not improved. Culligan water was the single worst customer service experience I've had this decade, and I fly United sometimes. I signed a contract to lease Culligan equipment, only to find out that they didn't have the financing on their end to do that due to the credit crunch. How did I find out? They started billing me more than $3K for the equipment. When I tried to get it changed what I had a agreed to, they threatened to take me to collections. My dad has been a customer of theirs for years and they started harrassing him because of me! As soon as my lawyer got involved, they changed their tune. "why did you have to escalate?" they asked me. "why can't we just discuss this" they said. Umm, maybe because you idiots don't honor contracts. In the end, I had to get a lawyer involved to get them to take their overrated equipment back. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Example: Today I stayed home from 8-12 for a service appointment. I called at 11:50 to see what's up and it took them 10 minutes to locate my file only to find they have no record of any appointment. I can't speak for all of the Culligan branches, but this one is pretty bad. The service is horrendous starting with the first call. They make you wait at least a half hour every time you call, and they act like you're bothering them. I day dream of a bunch of kids playing Wii while they keep all of their loyal customers on hold. So far, my last three service calls have resulted in bills over $500. They ask for $145 just to show up, usually they don't have the parts we need so they have to come back wasting our time. Then the bill always ends up just over $500, don't know how, but it always does. I've had my unit for over 10 years and have realized I've spent about $15,000 for a hard water softener. I feel like a fool. If their unit breaks down this much, why didn't I switch a long time ago. Just got off the phone with them again, the head unit cracked again, same as last year. They estimate $550, Imagine that, and another $145 house call. I passed. I'm going to Home Depot and install a new hard water softener for $300 myself. If you think of Culligan, think again. read more

The company I work for recently opened a new location, and a Culligan water cooler was already there, so we decided to continue using their service. This little Asian man who barely speaks English (he admitted it too) showed up, checked the internal filters, and said that we had 2 options: We could either rent for $45/month, which would total to $540 for the year, or just "buy" the machine for $350/yr. We obviously went with the cheaper option. The guy came back again a few days later, changed the filters, and said that they would be good for a year or two. So we get the bill. Almost $600. I was given no good explanation why. "The boss changed his mind about pricing." Oh, well that's fantastic that I wasn't notified beforehand! Thankfully my bosses are wonderful people. I could've gotten in a lot of trouble for something like that. Anyway, fast forward a few months. The water was flowing very slowly for a few days, so we called in the Culligan guy again. He tells me the machine needs new filters. Really? This was after my company spent almost $600 and was told the filters would last a year or two? He then tells me that maybe because of the piping, we'd have to change the filters every few months. Of course, every filter is over $100, and 3 filters go in the machine at once. So we're expected to pay several hundred dollars every few months after spending $600. No thanks. Oh, and on top of that, the same guy who barely speaks English "explained" the filter issue by drawing rectangles (filters?) on a napkin, with little "$100"'s written next to the rectangles. Yeah. Water softener installed 2 months ago. Started leaking today all over my garage and I call to get service, they tell me they can come out in 10 days?! I said there is water leaking all over my garage! She talks to her supervisor and comes back and says ok 9 days?! She tells me to push The bypass button - there is no bypass button!! After hanging up I found a by pass shut off valve in the back (Not a button!) I paid more for Culligan because of the service they claimed to have. NOT so much. read more

Just a heads up to all who think of getting into a contract with this company. Read the contract. In 2015 I had them install a reverse osmosis water system. I didn't pay attention to the 60 month contract. Recently filter changes that were included with the $20 a month fee at the time now $23. Appointments have become more difficult. There is a three week wait each and every year for three years, then they want me to sit here for five hours during that day. I am able to work with the actual technician, and have them call me before they come. The technicians are not a problem, they are nice and clean and efficient. I realized I could buy the same unit basically at Costco for $167. The filters are not that expensive, and I wish to get my own unit and have a plumber install it. I have a quote for $100 for installation. In four years I have paid a total of $1048.30. I have another year to go. So just be aware. I thought the convenience of having them change the filters would be good, but after better look at the contract it states that any water damaged done by the unit would not be covered. Read your contract. It's all on their side, they come once a year to change the filters. The hassle is just not worth it. These units are very stable. I have been using them with Culligan and without Culligan for many years. The two stars are being generous because the actual men came to do the filter changes are nice people, and have been willing to work with me to call when they are coming so I don't have to wait five hours. The smart soft water system is well designed.................. when it's fully functioning, its about the best out there. You only have to add salt when needed, and that is it. The bad news is when something goes wrong, and it does that every now and then, you are screwed because service is never the same day or even sometimes the same week. It's $185 per service call regardless of how simple the fix is, whether they are there for 5 mins or 60 mins, its the same rate. The customer service people are relatively nice and professional, and so are the technicians. They will generally try to find a solution for you before getting you a technician. BUT getting one out there is worse than a nightmare on Elms St. Replacement parts aren't cheap either, and a lot of times it's another delay. I most likely will not be a repeat customer, but they only need their commercial accounts. The little guys are just what they are, small fries, and they are not their priority after the initial install. Most of their field service reps are very nice and knowledgeable.........if they return your call. If you become a pest and make constant complains, it will take longer for the call back. Go to the next best system, you wouldn't even notice the difference. Good luck people. Buyer beware. read more

I requested to be contacted about getting a water softener and received a callback within minutes. The next day, Floyd comes over to give me a quote and scout the house for the location. He was professional, very friendly, and gave me more than enough information to make a decision. Very happy with the first visit. But would have to say that the servicemen are a little gruff and lacked considerably the friendliness I received from Floyd. Both service visits they showed up without calling (the first time 90 minutes early) and did not listen to what we were saying but dismissed my wife and I continually until we badgered them into investigating the slow water flow from the fridge. Turns out it was simply a kinked hose (something they should have noticed the first time around), but if we hadn't repeatedly questioned it and almost physically forced him to take a look at the problem, we would have been without a fridge water dispenser. I'm not going to recommend against them but can't really recommend them either. read more

We scheduled routine maintenance three times before they finally graced us with their presence on the third try. If you do happen to call customer service, I suggest having some work to do while you are on hold, and then having a tremendous amount of patience with the staff member who seems barely qualified to be working with these products and services. read more

I purchased my Culligan reverse ossmosis system many years ago, when I bought my house. Every other year I have to have it serviced (filters changed). I have experienced the worst customer service from the 9145 Rose Street office in Bellflower. They are usually at least 2 to 4 hours late, never call to let you know that they are running behind and never return phone calls. I have had culligan for over 10 years now. I started out with the replacement soft water system which after a while could not tell if they showed up when they were supposed to. I honestly believe they skipped most of the time. They had a good deal on a new softwater system so I bought one from them (not sure why now). I was supposed to get 1 year of free salt delivery and again, they did not deliver all of the time. Their customer service people in the office are horrible. I had a service call and paid the tech then they sent me a bill for the service I already paid for. The tech had to come out again and take the tank away to repair and said it would be 1 week. HEre it is 3 weeks later and no word. I guess I should not have thought any differently. As soon as I can I will go another direction and get culligan out of my life forever. read more

So all was good until a service we just had. The service man came to switch our filters under our sink and jerked them around under my sink. After he left I ran dishwater and went into the living room to watch a 30 minute sitcom and went back into the kitchen to do my dishes and my dishwater was gone. I thought maybe I didn't put the plug in all of the way. The plug was in place, I then look under my sink and all of the water,soap and all was under my sink. I called their customer service and the lady was very nice and said she would send a technician as soon as she could but I told her to please send them the next day because I wouldn't be home in the afternoon. She said she would send them between 9&12 Wednesday. I got a call Wednesday saying they were calling to confirm that their technician would be here between 12&4, I explained that the lady had told me 9&12 and I was told "well he has a few customers before you so okay thank you". What has happened to customer service? The technician showed up after 3 pm I was gone and my husband let him in. My husband said he showed him there was no putty in the sink drain. I don't know what happened in my absence but the drain is now so loose you can move the whole drain around from inside the sink. The sink was not like this when I left to go to the store to get water since I didn't have filtered water and didn't know if they were actually going to show up or not. So the so called manager/supervisor or whatever his title is Alfonso calls and tells me he's going to send a technician to put putty in the drain even though he doesn't believe they caused the problem because he watched a video I guess the technician shot for him doesn't look like there was any plumbers putty in the sink.When I started to talk to him so i could explain that I was there when our sink was installed when I had it remodeled, he didn't even let me speak and cut me off and said I'm not going to argue and I said neither am I and I hung up. I will be canceling when my contract is over. The worst customer service ever. read more

I had a water softener that was installed by Culligan. It works GREAT! The person that came to my home and explained the benefits was Frank. He was very helpful. He even came during the installation to make sure there were no issues. He also came a couple weeks later to ensure the system was working correct and perform another water test. We bought our Water Conditioner two years ago and have been paying for a service plan for salt and equipment upkeep. We have only received salt once and another time I had to call for an expensive service man to come out when our salt ran out. He asked me if I had been getting service salt, I said no, no one ever comes. I refused to pay our ongoing service bill and they told me they would do better. I gave up and hired a private maintenance man to come and maintain our system. This has been one of the saddest human failings I have ever seen in a company. read more

As a true water afficiando, I have continually desired and tried to provide my home and family with high quality water both for use and consumption. I have for the past 15 years tried a series of whole house water purification systems that claimed their products also "conditioned" the water for softness. I have now found what I never had in those "other" systems with a Culligan Total Home Municipal Water Filtration System. I cannot emphasize enough the dramatic change in the water quality that I am now experiencing from dishes to laundry to showers with the Culligan system. I had initially intended to simply upgrade my 18 year old RO drinking system but thanks to my sales representative Art Lawley, I realized that I was completely missing what I truly wanted and needed...SOFT water! The installation was done when promised and the Culligan technician Antonio was awesome! He was on time, neat, professional, extremely courteous,and performed both installations to my complete satisfaction. So I now have the best quality water available for both my home and consumption.
