There's no steak on the lunch menu, only steak and eggs on the brunch menu so that was disappointing. I ordered the steak and eggs without the eggs. My steak had a good flavor, but was a bit tough. I made reservations for dinner for my wife's birthday and we were looking forward to a nice relaxing dinner and a few drinks. It was a Tuesday night so it wasn't really very crowded. It took a while before our server appeared to take our drink orders and even longer to get our drinks. When she brought our drinks we'd had plenty of time to decide what we wanted to eat, so we ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and we also gave her our dinner order at the same time. We waited for quite a while and needed a second round of drinks. Again we waited a long time for the drinks. Meanwhile our dinner salads arrived so we ate those still waiting for the drinks. A few minutes later another server brought our entrees. I asked her to send my server to the table so I could speak with her. When she arrived I reminded her about the appetizer that we never got. I told her that we got our entrees but never got the tomatoes. I also let her know that they got my order wrong. I ordered fries and got some kind of potato hunks covered in cheese. She went back to the kitchen to get my fries and brought the other drinks we ordered some time earlier. Finally. The entire experience was confusing and not good at all and certainly not what I expected and it wasn't worth what it cost me. I have been there many times and it was always pretty good but that was not the case when I took my wife out for a nice dinner. I sure hope it's better the next time I go, if I ever do. I'm grade fairly tough. As you walk in, you think, dated but cool. Then you walk in and the seating in the lobby is ripped, torn and dilapidated. We entered at 5:40 pm. The restaurant was empty and they took us back into a distant corner - kind of sSiberia. Passed lots of empty, more appealing tables and booths. Service was adequate. Best I can do. Food was adequate. Ordered a ribeye- over half was fat and gristle. Flavor was ok- I can do the same over a cheap charcoal grill. Prices seemed very out of line. This May once have been fine dining, but not worth the premium pricing. Kind of disappointed---and at this price point, I will go elsewhere. read more

Stopped in kind of last minute, actually on my way to another place to eat. But when I saw this place, and had heard about it before, thought I'd give it a shot. It's a pretty nice place, my guest and I were seated without any wait at all. The appetizer was pretty good, and the service was good, and things stopped about right there. My steak was undercooked and not at all like I ordered it, and was like trying to chew a rubber boot, it was that tough. I ordered an after dinner drink, and what I got, was pretty bad. It was almost as if the bartender only went half way on it, and didn't finish making it before the server brought it to the table. The server came by later to ask about the barely touched drink. When I told her how bad it was, that it was t anywhere close to what I ordered, she was apologetic, but made no attempt or offer to make it right. For the bill I got, it was not worth the trip in. I'll keep on going next time, to somewhere else. I was rather disappointed with my experience there. read more

This is for the comment that was left by Kim because I couldn't reply to her message. I would first like to say that when I walked in I was greeted with a very warm welcome by the host Izabella. Because she has a name and I DONT know what her hair looked like the day of y'all's exact visit but on this particular day it was gorgeous not ratty at all. If anything I loved her style and her look that she brought to the place, she had a very big smile and was ready to help me as soon as she saw me. She then guided us to our table where we had a really good conversation about her future and her feild of study. She was just an amazing host not to mention her checking in every once in a while to see if there was anything else we needed our server was good but not as good as her. She honestly deserves some type of award in my opinion for being the best host. If you come here I hope you get her as the host because she is amazing at what she does and is very positive and polite. Thank you Izabella I personally like the Bison Meatballs and the Fried Lobster Tail the food is a bit pricey but it does not disappoint! I'm really impressed with Culpepper. I got delivery and I ordered the 6 oz filet mignon, cooked medium well. I was extremely appreciative that they didn't overcook it. I have had bad luck ordering a steak medium well and getting it per specifications. But this was very flavorful and juicy and tender. I haven't had a steak that good in about 5 years. I also got a loaded baked potato and a side salad, both were great. Seems like a lot of places don't even try to make the sides taste good, but the salad and baked potato were excellent. Next time I'm going to try to get some friends to go there with me. It's more than I'm used to paying but it's really worth it. Since my order was delivered, I didn't experience the service or the ambiance. But I can't wait to try it, SOON! read more

Serice was a bit off at first waited to get noticed after we sat down, server didn't notice two large glass cracks in my water glass and had to ask another server for a different water glass, wait on food time was sufficient, noise level was high as the band started playing in the room we were sat our table sat between two wall speakers made for difficult listening on our verbal conversations. Another disappoint dinner. Tonight was my wife and mines 42 wedding anniversary. when I made reservations I made sure I told the young lady it was our 42 wedding anniversary. She acknowledged. Also asked for a special seating in a booth we like and had softened. Well we were there at 5:30 pm per reservation. The booth I requested was empty but refuse to sit us there. We explained I requested that booth. She ignored that. And no mention that it was our 42 wedding anniversary. The waiter we had was just ok, Another young lady heped out during our meal and was excellent, wished she was our server. Food was just ok, Bacon appetizer was all fat, we did not eat it, server never asked how we liked it but saw we did not touch it. Pecan salad was good but not like it use to be. The french oil soup, tasted like oils, very little cheese. In past this was excellent, tonight, not worth it. The cream corn, was out of a can taste. my 20 oz lobster, $90, was over cooked and too salty. What a waste of $90. My wife's pork chop was good but nothing to write home about. As we were about to leave my wife told the waiter she was disappointed that they did nothing for our wedding anniversary. He was defensive and said I did not know and rambled on. We said we told the the person when we made reservation and that the hostess never achkowldged when we were being seated. $178 wasted and worst yet Culpeppers made our special night, 42 wedding anniversary unmemorable. Should of went to the Silver Fox or 3 Forks. At one time this was the resurgent to eat at. great food, Great service, great place to celebrate an important date. No longer, they lost it. read more

Never thought I'd be the one to make a review on a restaurant, but low and behold- here I am. A few friends had suggested I come here, so me and my wife went ahead and tried it. Our server was hardly welcoming at all- had bad energy and was dismissive and rude. VERY unprofessional- could see the server mingling with other servers while other tables in our same section were awaiting service. When we finally were approached again to order we went ahead and put in two cocktails... it took 30 minutes for them to hit our table! Not only that, but our steaks we ordered as well were supposed to be medium rare but were WAY overcooked and hard to slice and chew. When we complained and got our food sent back, it took another 20 minutes for our new steaks to come out which we're STILL not the right level cooked. After that, me and my wife called it quits & payed our bill with a half empty stomachs. I'm not usually picky when it comes to restaurant and service- but this blew me away. Flour tortillas and butter are served in place of bread. They were very thick and needed more time on the grill. Asked for salsa. They do not serve it. Thought we would order the fajitas but found out they do not serve them with green bell peppers. And no salsa. Thought we would order the fried shrimp. No tartar sauce. I like tartar sauce with fried fish or shrimp. Ordered the filet. Asked for it to be medium rare. Came to us blood red cold in the middle and burned on the outside making it bitter. Toughest steak so not sure it was a filet. Cut more like sirloin. No flavor. Old Culpeppers had one of the best seasoned steaks around. Guess the new folks did not get that spice recipe. Ordered the coconut shrimp. The sauce was the texture of thick marmalade so no way to dip the shrimp in it. On a positive note. Wait staff and young ladies at the hostess stand were extremely nice. The baked potato was good. Hot and soft. Would I go back. Not until they decide what kind of restaurant they want to be. Mexican, upscale steak house or what. If you going to offer Mexican food then get it right. You are totally missing the mark. read more

My husband and I went to Culpepper's for my birthday dinner last night. Usually we go to Bin but we decided to try something new. We had a 7:00 reservation and were seated right away. We split the Caesar salad with lobster croutons and it was very good. I ordered the petite filet (medium) with half a lobster tail with broccoli instead of mashed potatoes. My husband ordered the larger filet (medium) and macaroni and cheese. Our food took an hour to come to the table and the waiter offered that they had multiple to-go orders and a party they were working on. When we finally got our food, both of our steaks were rare! However, we'd waited so long for our food that we decided to just deal. The waiter did offer to send it back. The table next to us had the same issue and she had to send her steak back two times! You would think a steakhouse would know how to get a steak right. I will say--the Mac and cheese was beyond PHENOMENAL. That's the only reason for the two stars though! The service was pretty bad! For a $250+ tab, you would think the service would be better than that. Our waiter kept saying he hadn't forgotten about us but it sure seemed like he did....multiple times.
