This is my go to spot when I'm running late in the mornings since very few places are open early mornings. Everything is made well and fast and has reasonable prices. It's not extravagant food, but every meal I have there tastes reasonably good and the place is cozy. Everyone is nice. I will return the next time I'm feeling stressed. read more

Sandwiches are epic and just very good!! The bread is soft and fresh, I like the condiments they use, eg: pickles, or pepperocinis. My current favorite is the turkey with bacon and tomato, lettuce, pepperocinis, salt, pepper and vinegrette. They are very nice here, and make your order quickly. I have been going to this cafe for many years. The owners are hard workers and try to make sure each customer is happy . It is a friendly family owned establishment so please support it during this slow time. They have excellent sandwiches and I especially like the veg I sandwich. There cookies are yummy and muffins too. I generally get an iced tea but have had their mochas and they are good too. I like all the plants in the restaurant - keeps the place fresh and smelling good. It's a great place to have lunch and relax and again it's a neighborhood restaurant which I hope all will support. A cute family owned business, based on what I can tell when I visit. Since I started my new job, this has been my go to cafe for an iced vanilla latte or even a small sandwich. There's never a line and they are always ready to jump in and take your order. The prices are very fair and they have quite a big selection of fresh pastries on a daily basis. Just today I decided to try the tuna sandwich on rye bread and it was a good choice! The bread was toasted and not burnt, which is a common problem. The tuna was very fresh and chunky. The lettuce and tomatoes were also placed inside the sandwich and they were a great addition, without making the sandwich soggy. I paid around$7-$8 dollars and the sandwich was well worth it. So I've been here a couple times in the morning. I've noticed that the old man at the register doesn't change his glove (which he also uses in only one hand) after receiving payment and then goes to touch food. There are two sinks one by the coffee area with soap and the other by the food area which clearly does not have any soap there. Basically he grabs your card or cash for payment. Then he will ONLY rise the hand that's gloved. Rises only with water and no soap. I feel so disgusted I had to write a post on this. We hurried in with high expectations. We found rock-star parking and ran to the door. Though full from a huge meal, I was willing to stuff my stomach just a tad more - for the sake of cupcake exploration. As soon as we walked in, I knew something wasn't right. The space was big, it was open late, and the woman behind the counter greeted as soon as we entered. But all I could see in their display glass, outside of a couple of cakes, were three lack-luster looking cupcakes. I asked the woman what flavors they had, knowing deep inside that this was not the place I had been salivating for. The woman looked slightly confused and brought out the cupcakes. She did a quick Vanna White display of them, explaining that the vanilla was very popular. We finally decided on a chocolate cheesecake cupcake. The woman beamed as she gave us each a tiny fork to eat with. One bite - and I knew we were in the wrong place. It wasn't horrible, but I have a feeling Cup and Cake could easily share Starbuck's pastry chef. The small cake tasted generic and mass produced. This place is a good find if you're in the area, and need a place to work late at night with free-wi, and some simple menu bites. Just don't put too much faith in their pastries. I love hanging out on my laptop at cafés, sipping a latte. The promise of free wi-fi and panini sandwiches brought me to the new Cup & Cake Café. Cup & Cake - the name makes me think of cupcakes. They have muffins, croissants, cookies (by Ultimate Cookie) and slices of cake (princess, strawberry shortcake, carrot, etc.) for sweets. For savory goods, they have breakfast bagel sandwiches, deli sandwiches and panini sandwiches (3 types: turkey pesto, chicken pesto, ham). The café only occupies half of the space; the other half is not being used. The walls are a warm yellow, the leather chairs are quite comfortable and there are a few electrical outlets within reach. The owners (Asians) seem to like plants (orchids in particular). The free wi-fi is secure, so ask for the password when you place your order. The clientele is decidedly mixed - from teens to older Chinese. I had a medium latte ($3.45) and a chicken pesto panini ($6.95) served on a plate. The latte wasn't so good. The brew tasted like it was made with over-roasted beans; it had a bitter, burnt aftertaste. The panini sandwich made with ciabatta bread was better but it didn't have much pesto flavor. The mayo flavor was stronger. Also, pieces kept falling out the sandwich which I find very annoying. They did add a nice amount of fresh veggies - cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, and red onions. It's nice to have a local hang out when you're wanting to get out of the house but not wanting to travel too far. While I continue searching for one in my neck of the woods, I've also decided to visit others - so you may find me lurking around your part of town. There is definitely a neighborhood vibe to the Cup & Cake Cafe. During my visit, I saw a couple people working away on their laptops, coeds ordering food to go, and a round table filled with little old ladies drinking tea and sharing snacks. It was nice to see the wide array of people who gather here. I didn't find any outstanding dessert or noteworthy tea. But it does fit the need of providing a sanctuary. As for finding a place to call my own, I'm gonna have to give Java Beach a try. read more
