Once again on my hunt to find study spots- decided to try Cupitol out. Pleasantly surprised to find out it had a full food menu adjacent the cafe! Spent a couple of hours here with my husband while getting work done. While the food was good enough, coupled with the plethora of seating options (always a risky endeavor when trying a new place out), outlet access, and good ambience, this place is a 4/5. I'm sure I'll be back! My only critique is really that the key lime tart was bland and they didn't have soy milk. I may change my review to a 5 after another visit. read more

High ceilings, a variety of seating options, a perfectly tucked away counter that was right along the entrance. They put a ton of thought into the layout! If I was a local I would definitely spend a lot of time here, even the water dispenser was awesome, with sparkling and still! The food was pretty good. The server was nice and the wait was great. The food was delivered in under 15 minutes. The pancakes were buttery and well flavored. The smoothie was okay, nothing to die for. The atmosphere was very good as the place had a lot of people and was well set up. However, the price could have been better. Overall: Decent cafe located in downtown Chicago. Probably wouldn't return. + : Cupitol is conveniently located between Navy Pier and Michigan Avenue, so it serves as a perfect pit stop when walking around downtown. We ordered tiramisu and a Nutella torte, and we received those pretty quick. They also had an open tap water bar (both chilled and sparkling) which was nice, and their menu includes many beers and wines! Cupitol also had plenty of seating with quite a few outlets and the overall aesthetic was very calming. -: The menu was pretty limited, especially for pastries. There were a few tortes, shooters, and tiramisu, but that was about it. Many of the pastries were also pretty small so we ended up stopping at another bakery nearby when we finished. The pastries that we did get were average. Our tiramisu was purely cream and didn't have much flavor. The nutella torte was good, but it was too small to get the full effect. This place was okay, i came with 3 other people. 3/4 people got their meals/coffee at a good time. But my friend got his croissant very late. He asked for it to be warmed up and they still gave it to him cold and he went for a second time and it was still cold. Finally when we all finished our meal and coffee the croissant was still cold but we just gave up at that point. It wasn't too busy either we arrived on a Sunday at 11am. The food was good overall, the smoothies were okay but they were also warm, and the latte was super strong, it was hard to catch the flavor. The service was good. So this afternoon my friend and I ordered almost $70 worth of food and smoothies. We ordered via door dash and it took over an hour to arrive the delivery isn't the restaurant's fault but when I called to speak with the manager Alex he wouldn't remake the items. It's not our fault nor the restaurant's fault the food is now cold but this is where your customer service failed us you could have simply remade our food my friend is a regular there. Did I add this place is within 3 minutes from us?? The manager refused to remake the food, he couldn't even answer the question if he would like receive cold food only thing he could offer is 25% off we we came back tomorrow... tomorrow? Thankfully, Cupitol was right around the corner-- with a beautiful, open and airy environment, a vast array of healthy and simple options on the menu, and OPEN TABLES, I'm so glad we were diverted here to eat! To all of you who are looking for a cool place to study on the weekend. This is not that place! Being new in Chicago I was looking for a new place to study on the weekends. I came accross cupitol in streeterville and the place looks great. The website promotes " Cupitol's varied seating makes it a comfortable place to land work, catch up with friends or dine in" However, this is far from the truth. When I got to the place it was a cool vibe, I was exicted to order my coffee and get some study going. Super ready to get things done! I find a table at the end and 5 mins after I'm all set up ready to start studying, a cupitol team member comes and tells me that I have to move if I have a laptop because weekends priority is for paying customers that are eating. I did order a coffee, she said finish your coffee and move to a high table. She ruined my entire experience. I felt like I was getting kicked out and she was talking down to me. I tried to look on their website to see if I missed that on weekeneds this is not a good place to go study. They don't have anything that says that on weekends Cupitols priority is to those who are eating and forget their entire business model which is "Cupitol's varied seating makes it a comfortable place to land work, catch up with friends or dine in" I talked to the manager Roberto, he said that's a rule that I applied here and it's not on the website. The line was super long when we first walked in, but it moved really fast. The girl taking our order was very nice and helpful! The drinks were really good, and came our relatively fast. I came in around 8am on a Saturday to work. I'd never been before to "dine in", so I was excited to see why so many of my friends love coming here to get stuff done. This place got busy fast! By 9am on a rainy Saturday morning it was packed. The concept of an "all day lounge" is great, and as a non-coffee drinker I always feel obligated to get a coffee when I'm using a coffee shop for their space. I don't feel that way here because there are so many options here from food to drinks (including alcohol and pastries). My only gripe is food takes FOREVER to come out. Unless I order a coffee or a pastry from the counter by the register, I can expect to wait for my order. I waited once for a bagel to go and it took them 10 minutes to hand me my bagel and individual packet of Philadelphia cream cheese on a weekday morning when the place was pretty empty... Didn't really put me off, but heads up - on weekends you can only sit in the back at a few reserved tables if you'll be working on your laptop. Pretty disappointing. I got the non fat chai latte from here and there was just a ton of cinnamon on top and zero chai flavor. Literally all i tasted was cinnamon.... I get a better non fat chai latte from star bucks, sad to say. I also got a cinnamon roll which I ate about half of. The frosting was a decent cream cheese frosting but the actual roll itself once there was no more frosting was dry and tasteless. The wait time was about the same as what was listed when we ordered online, and even though they were out of the matcha tea my friend wanted, the staff was very nice about it and let us choose another drink. Unfortunately, the drink we got instead (a pretty hibiscus drink) wasn't very good; it tasted like lightly flavored water. New favorite go to place for espresso and weekend breakfast. It's a great place to hang out and people watch if you have the time. We prefer to sit by the front windows on the weekend as people stream to and from Navy Pier. A huge improvement to have the couches and chairs added recently! A great spot for all sorts of meetings, meet ups, or work with your head phones on if needed. During the weekdays I've seen meetings around the high tables. There seems to be enough space where people are in a social setting but not completely on top of one another. And there is outdoor seating as well. So far we've ordered mainly from the breakfast menu. We are big fans of their Spanish omelette, French toasts versions, and quick grab and go items like the ham and cheese croissant. Everything has been consistently good! And I deeply appreciate being able to quickly grab a cappuccino a few mornings a week before heading to work. This cafe is very cute and crowded. It's super packed with people and laptops on the weekends so it makes it difficult to find a table. There's even a sign on the bathroom door designating people to leave room for diners but of course not everyone follows that. The main menus is just filled with drinks. You'll have to find the food menus either online or on paper pamphlets by the cashier. Once you order, the cashier asks if you are dining in or to-go. But dining in wise, they'll ask you where you're sitting. Didn't know I was supposed to pick a seat before ordering and considering the laptop crowd, this creates a slight challenge. On to the food -very good! I had the tuna sandwich and they put the tomato, lettuce, and pickles on the side. My friend had the butternut squash, and roast beef. Both pretty decent portions and she enjoyed both. The food came out fairly quickly and they cleaned the tables off quickly too. I wish the water cups were larger. Cool little brewery that just opened in River East. It's a bit pricey, but hey it's the neighborhood. They have a pretty wide menu of coffees, teas, juices, assorted food and sandwiches, plus they serve wine and cocktails, which I'm never opposed to lol The main positive aspect is that it's a place in the area where you can hang out and chill, since there really aren't a whole lot of places like that in the area so close to the lake/Navy Pier. Several people were there just chilling. Didn't order anything fancy, just a grapefruit juice, but I look forward to returning since I go to the river east theater all the time read more
