My parfait looked gorgeous but the yogurt was THICC. Almost as if they whipped it. My experience just kind of went downhill from there. My smoothie (yum berry) was okay, my boyfriends cappuccino was a little bitter but okay, and his gravlox (he said was not up to his Jewish standards LOL--there wasn't any dill and the salmon is supposed to be cured, not smoked). Location Location Location! My husband and I are so happy to have this new addition to Streeterbille. Secondly we adore the chill vive that this coffee shop has. The moment you go up the stairs and into the place, the music is on point and the beautiful Chic Modern Industrial decor is very nice. We love to sit by the large windows and enjoy the luxurious chairs and the seating arrangement. The only thing that is missing is a FIREPLACE (come on we are in the Midwest). The reason I am giving this a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because they went so far to create a great atmosphere, but they fell short by not creating that warm toasty feel with a fireplace. With the huge windows, lots of cool air comes thru and we have to keep our coats on in order to enjoy that area. Im glad they decided to tie in the decor and keep the history of this building alive with a twist of modern Chic. This building was conste back in 1905 thru 1920 and it used to be an industrial warehouse. We have not tried their food yet, but we did try the chocolate almond croissant And it was DELICIOUS, the plain bagel was a bit small but it was nice. The lattes were also very good and the art work was on point. We enjoyed the atmosphere so much that we stayed longer than we had planned. So we ordered another round of lattes and this time we each tried something different. I ordered the NUTELLA LATTE which was very tasty, I actually enjoyed it a lot. My husband had the MOCA LATTE and he was very happy with it. Cupitol has it all! Technically an all day lounge, they have a surprisingly extensive menu (including alcohol). I dropped in Sunday morning to grab a coffee and get some work done. It was busy, but I was still able to get a seat just fine because the space is expansive. Everything is ordered up at the counter, and if you get food they'll take your table number and bring it to you. They also clear your table for you when you're finished. Which was great because they were really on top of their game and everything was super clean/organized. It was hot this morning so I went for an iced latte (16 oz) and an avocado wrap. Came out to ~$12. Both were perfect and I'd get them again. Other Yelpers have noted higher prices but I'd argue the quality was great and this is a main drag to Navy Pier - I can only imagine how much it costs to lease this location. So I can only hope they're here to stay, because from amazing customer service to great food and drinks, Cupitol is doing everything right and it's working. read more

Delicious and relaxing lattes. Atmosphere was cheerful and light, I requested to turn down the ac and they quickly responded to make it more comfortable for us. Once again on my hunt to find study spots- decided to try Cupitol out. Pleasantly surprised to find out it had a full food menu adjacent the cafe! Spent a couple of hours here with my husband while getting work done. While the food was good enough, coupled with the plethora of seating options (always a risky endeavor when trying a new place out), outlet access, and good ambience, this place is a 4/5. I'm sure I'll be back! My only critique is really that the key lime tart was bland and they didn't have soy milk. I may change my review to a 5 after another visit. read more

AMAZING DECOR + AMAZING SMOOTHIE Stumbled into this joint while wandering back to downtown Chicago from Navy Pier, was very impressed by the decor. The whole place just felt right. High ceilings, a variety of seating options, a perfectly tucked away counter that was right along the entrance. They put a ton of thought into the layout! Cute hidden breakfast spot close to Mag Mile. Came here while on business in the area, and grabbed a made to order breakfast sandwich. Food came out quickly (they didn't call my name...they only placed the food in a takeout bin, which was frustrating). But it was fresh and tasty. Overall: Decent cafe located in downtown Chicago. Probably wouldn't return. + : Cupitol is conveniently located between Navy Pier and Michigan Avenue, so it serves as a perfect pit stop when walking around downtown. We ordered tiramisu and a Nutella torte, and we received those pretty quick. They also had an open tap water bar (both chilled and sparkling) which was nice, and their menu includes many beers and wines! Cupitol also had plenty of seating with quite a few outlets and the overall aesthetic was very calming. -: The menu was pretty limited, especially for pastries. There were a few tortes, shooters, and tiramisu, but that was about it. Many of the pastries were also pretty small so we ended up stopping at another bakery nearby when we finished. The pastries that we did get were average. Our tiramisu was purely cream and didn't have much flavor. The nutella torte was good, but it was too small to get the full effect. It's not our fault nor the restaurant's fault the food is now cold but this is where your customer service failed us you could have simply remade our food my friend is a regular there. Did I add this place is within 3 minutes from us?? The manager refused to remake the food, he couldn't even answer the question if he would like receive cold food only thing he could offer is 25% off we we came back tomorrow... tomorrow? He asked for it to be warmed up and they still gave it to him cold and he went for a second time and it was still cold. Finally when we all finished our meal and coffee the croissant was still cold but we just gave up at that point. It wasn't too busy either we arrived on a Sunday at 11am. I came in around 8am on a Saturday to work. I'd never been before to "dine in", so I was excited to see why so many of my friends love coming here to get stuff done. This place got busy fast! By 9am on a rainy Saturday morning it was packed. The concept of an "all day lounge" is great, and as a non-coffee drinker I always feel obligated to get a coffee when I'm using a coffee shop for their space. I don't feel that way here because there are so many options here from food to drinks (including alcohol and pastries). My only gripe is food takes FOREVER to come out. Unless I order a coffee or a pastry from the counter by the register, I can expect to wait for my order. I waited once for a bagel to go and it took them 10 minutes to hand me my bagel and individual packet of Philadelphia cream cheese on a weekday morning when the place was pretty empty... Didn't really put me off, but heads up - on weekends you can only sit in the back at a few reserved tables if you'll be working on your laptop. So no window seats if that's what you wanted! read more
