Walked around the Mission for a while and we were drawn into Curio by the great live music. They have a large outdoor seating setup next to the patio, so you can enjoy the music sitting anywhere. We started out at the tables close to the street, but the hostess was so kind and let us move inside to escape some of the wind. Overall -- the food and drinks were so great and came out impressively quickly, and the service was friendly and attentive. The prices were a bit expensive for the portions (for both the food and drinks), so I'd suggest coming back for happy hour! FOOD Vegan spring rolls (4/5): Soooo tasty and beautiful presentation. Small portion though so order something in addition to this if you're eating this as a main course. Smoked potato wedges (5/5): These were served hot and crispy, and the ranch was perfectly light and tangy. Truffle Mac + Ribs (4/5): Tasty and well-presented, but not mind-blowing. I enjoyed my visit at Curio Bar for a Sunday brunch w/a reservation before a Warriors game. There was live music and the seating was outdoors. My only concern was that we were given about 10+ servings of mimosas for the bottomless Mimosa's. So there should definitely be a limit to how many mimosas a customer is supposed to have, just kidding! I did notice the waiter was super polite and nice, I was shocked to see that our bill was incorrect but we were too drunk to check then. New favorite spot! Went on a pretty busy sunny-Sunday and the service was quick. Great selection of foods. Overnight oats were jaw dropping delicious; warm, fresh fruit. Chicken and waffle bites were delish; the strawberries were such a nice touch to the bites. Huevos rancheros were just as good, a little tricky to eat; it had a spicy touch to it! Curio never disappoints with their inspired featured dishes. This was their Halloween weekend offering. A pan-seared salmon and maple-glazed vegetables over black rice with pomegranate and red wine sauce. The salmon was perfectly cooked, the veggies were not too sweet, and the presentation was lovely as you can see. The perfect accompaniment was a "blood" margarita with a raspberry "potion." Spooky and delicious! The staff are always super kind so the service is pleasant. They were gearing up for a Halloween bash, and the DJ was setting the mood outside. I have visited this place so many times and have never been disappointed. Also, I feel like every time I am here, their seating capacity has magically increased from last time. Food : LOVE the food here! My staple order is the - Truffled Mac & Cheese - Its really creamy and the truffle adds such a nice earthy twist to it. Yummz!! Curio Jacks - My second favorite thing to order here. These babies melt in your mouth and low behold, these have completely changed the game for all other chicken popcorns/nuggets! Coca cola braised ribs - There are two kinds 1) Vietnamese 2) BBQ Glazed. I personally prefer the second one. The first one was too tangy for me. Curio Katsu cheddar sandwich - I did not know cheese could be made like this. For the longest time I kept staring t this thick slice of cheddar wondering what it was because it looked almost like a hash brown. But when I bit into it- my mind was blown. A great concept! Tuna Tartare - Really flavorful and comes with a side of sweet potato chips - my fav! Smoked Potato wedges - Yummy and simple! Cannot go wrong with it. Drinks : The cocktails here are so yummy that you cannot have just one. They are decently strong ( I have had stronger drinks elsewhere). Sphinx - My absolute favorite go-to drink here. I am a bourbon/whiskey girl and this hits all the right spots! Mango slushee margarita - This was so refreshing and tasty, I could have this even without the alcohol in it. Chupacabra - If you're a fan of Tequila, this his your drink. It was sweet, tangy, spicy, everything at once. We also got the seasonal drink special which is 4 glasses of the specials cocktail. In our case it was a Mango- orange based cocktail. This was good too but I wouldn't go for it next time. Ambience : As mentioned above, this place is spread out inside out. They have taken over the pavement, half of the Valencia slow street. I have been seated outdoors, indoors and one time at the entry - neither out nor in. The vibe is amazing with the crowd brimming with happiness over their drunkenness. The interiors lives up to the bar's name. The decor is one of a kind and even the ceiling is filled with art. I happen to be here once during a very windy/rainy night and the roof almost blew off of their make shift patio seating. They also have live music which you can check out on their website. Staff : This place is forever crowded so your servers will not have the time to chit chat with you, which I definitely don't mind. No matter how busy they are, they will pause to help you look for a table in the crazy sea of endless crowded tables. To celebrate one of old girlfriends' birthday we came here to dine on a very short notice. The reservation system is great and we had a very reasonable seating time for brunch. The place is a little funky with the semi outdoorsy feel but the heating lamp was on and we were sufficiently warmed up the moment we sat down. For brunch the salad was excellent, and so was the hangover sandwich. The fried pickles were also a nice tough as it's not very sour and it was cut up into small pieces, sort of reminded me the ones I had in Nashville but less greasy. We had an excellent server who took photos for us and served us delicious drinks. The batch of bloodies were quite spicy that day which I loved and my girlfriend didn't. He graciously exchanged the drink for a Rose which was quite nice of him. It's a good spot for brunch for old ladies like us, though a bit of a PDA was going on that day, which tells me it might be a GREAT spot for young love birds to dine in after a night out. read more

Came here with a friend of mine to check out a brunch spot! Magically amazing brunch or dinner spot left my "curio"-sity hanging! Why have I not heard about this place until now? They have indoor and outdoor seating but we opted for the outdoor patio area which had heated lamps and plenty of natural light to enjoy our meal. Our server was absolutely fantastic and asked us if we needed any recommendations but after reviewing the menu, we concluded what we wanted to try. Below are the following... Cinnamon Babka French Toast 10/10: the toast was a thick french toast filled with a good amount of coated cinnamon, sugar, mascarpone, apple jam which sort of tasted like hot apple pie, spiced walnuts, and cider vinegar syrup. This toast alone was absolutely fire! So rich and creamy from the mascarpone but the combination of everything from one bite was to die for! One of my favorite dishes we had ordered. Buttermilk Biscuit Benedict 9/10: the rich and savory poached eggs, collard greens, 4505 maple sausage, and jalapeño hollandaise sauce was amazing! Perfectly balanced with the collard greens and the sausage made this dish with the eggs which was a delite. After a couple of bites, I did think it was too heavy for my taste but still way too good! Shrimp and Cheddar Grits 8/10: this dish tasted a bit flat for my tastebuds. I wasn't completely wow'ed by it. I thought it was just okay or something was missing. Nonetheless, this dish helped after eating between something super heavy like the benedict and the french toast but the wild gulf shrimp, 6 minute egg, tasso ham gravy, and tomato relish did help balance out the food. Side of 4505 bacon 10/10: you can't go wrong with bacon. Especially when it's from 4505!!! I didn't know this was part of their menu but so glad they carry yummy pork bacon!!! Overall, the ambiance was just what we were looking for and open outdoor dining is my favorite since they also add a covering during cold and rainy days but still bring in some great lighting. The indoor dining area was much sparse as it was pretty dark but that's because they offer late night dinner and open mic nights for entertainment. So I can understand the dark brooding interior. A few friends and I visited Curio for the first time because the food looked really good. We made reservations a few days prior and we were seated in their outdoor patio right away. There was a woman in the front of the patio playing live music, which was a nice touch on a sunny Saturday afternoon. I order the Lil Lilith (Frose - $14) and my friend order the bottomless mimosas ($20 for 90 minutes). For our brunch we order the burger with an egg on top, shakshouka and the salmon benedict. My friend sent back the shakshouka stating that it did not taste like the original dish at all. He was pretty disappointed. He asked the server if he could switch it for the burger and without any question he was nice enough to send it back. Unfortunately, he did not ask how he would like it cooked, if he wanted a side, if he'd like anything else with it. He seemed slightly annoyed, but a few minutes later brought the burger on a plate and placed it on the table. My salmon benedict was recommended by the server and I did not think it was subpar. I didn't want to have to send another dish back, soI sucked it up and ate it...it wasn't horrible, but just ok. There were thin slices of salmon on top of two tiny pieces of toast. It just seemed like they're definitely cutting costs on the food, but not the prices since it was $18! Definitely wasn't worth it in my opinion, especially since the burger was the same price. I visited Curio for the first time with a few friends over Saturday brunch, it was amazing! We came for the bottomless mimosas (great deal) but the food, ambiance, and service were all impressive! Here's what I thought of the food: Curio Burger w/ Katsu Cheese - I could not resist trying this! A bougie, yet and well-balanced and simple burger. Really freakin delicious! I expected a little more gooey ness from the Katsu cheese but I still enjoyed the added fried texture. Fries - some of the skinniest fries I've ever had from a place, more like chip snacks to me. I told the host that the four of us were looking to get seated for dinner. He told us that the only place he could seat us was at the bar, which was fine. We sat down and were finally, about ten minutes later (the QR code for the menu took 5 minutes to load), asked by the bartender what we wanted. We started trying to order food but were told that the kitchen was closed. It would have been fine if the host had told us that to begin with instead of wasting our time. It's my first time at this place and I had the BBQ Ribs, the Smoked Pork Sandwich, and a cocktail called the Chupacabra BBQ Ribs- Fall off the bone wonderful deliciousness!!! The crunch made from the fried potato chip garnish allows the ribs to have a crunch to it. AND THE BBQ SAUCE OVER IT WAS FIRE!!! We popped into Curio for drinks and a quick bite and it did not disappoint! I love the outdoor seating and it really cultivates a nice vibe for you to relax and unwind. The staff is really nice and helpful. We got the Mermaid and the Banshee, both excellent drinks! Love the pebble ice that it comes with and the presentation. Both decently strong and tasty. We also got the Ritual Coffee Rubbed Fried Chicken Strips which is most of the reason this is a 5-star review. The chicken was cooked to perfection and was such a unique and excellent flavor. I came here to celebrate Elena's birthday last month and this was the first time I had dined here, much less heard of Curio. Our reservations were for a near Noon Saturday brunch slot and we were quickly seated at a bench table on the patio. The sun was out and it was mild so it was the perfect setup for a patio brunch with friends. During the middle of our meal, they also rolled back the motorized overhead cover so we were bathed in warm sunlight which felt glorious. We went with sharing a load of small starters and an entree each. The standouts for me were the Deviled Eggs with a pork rind on top, and the Fried Burrata Cheese, which tastes exactly how it sounds. For my entree, I went with the Hangover Curio, which is essentially a breakfast plate(2 eggs to your liking, choice of bacon, sausage or pancetta, breakfast potatoes, side salad, and toast). This dish was hearty, not too oily, and solid. For my drink, I ordered the Phantom Fizz(gin, egg white, orange bitters) and it was the perfect zesty citrus adult beverage to complement my entree. Our waitress attempted to take care of our large party but fell behind in small requests like delivering water after repeated requests, so we had to flag down any staff walking by. Especially irksome to me however, was the automatic gratuity of 20% for parties of 6 or more. This is of course on top of the other automatic service charge found when dining in SF. I was happy to have found this place after wasting time waiting for the restaurant down the street to take our order. We were seated quickly, our waitress was attentive of us, took our drink orders in a quick timely matter as well as our food. We were soooo hungry so we went with the burgers and fries and the stuffed mushroom crab little bites. Delicious!! The burgers were definitely something different but soooooooooooo good! The brunch menu itself is pretty disappointing & limited. But to be fair, I think i went there with high expectations (considering it was on a "best brunch in SF" list on Google) so I was let down more than I'd usually be. If I'd have to pick a bar with the best hospitality, it would undoubtedly be Curio! They go out of their way to make their customers happy and curate that lovely experience for them. They also started their live band performance on Thursdays which is incredible given what we've all gone through since Covid, so any kind of entertainment feels like you're transported elsewhere! Favs: loved all the cocktails especially the Sphinx and their special CamGirl Martini that's on their secret menu so make sure you ask for it as they've put a delicious spin on the classic Pornstar Martini. Among the food, highly recommend the Mushroom Pockets, Veg Spring Rolls (like a breath of fresh air - so easy on the stomach, photographs beautifully and tastes wonderful too), The Great American Burger for that gorgeous stuffed cheese patty, Katsu Cheddar Sandwich (love the addition of Kimchi to this) The only thing holding me back from giving this place a 5/5 is the lack of a decadent dessert menu since I'm such a sweet tooth. We came an hour after their brunch menu had stopped but they had an in between menu that we were able to order from. Both my partner and I ordered 2 of their specialty drinks. They were both super good. We also ordered the coffee chicken strips and the Vietnamese ribs with potato wedge fries. The chicken was so good - it also came with 3 dipping sauces that we're all super good. (Especially the burger sauce and their home made ranch) the ribs were also so good. Great atmosphere, lackluster food. Price was fine. Throughout the night, I ordered a burger, chicken strips and the stuffed mushrooms. The burger was standard, ordered it medium, but came out more of the rare side. Honestly the best part of the burger was the bun (and I usually don't eat most of the bun). I was devastated over the chicken strips. Who on this planet uses dark meat chicken for chick strips?!?! There were weird bits and I was so not a fan I couldn't even eat it most of it. I picked out the white meat bits as best I could and then eventually gave it to my dog after I picked off all the breading. The stuffed mushroom were alright.
