Review for 2 people, dine in lunch on a weekday: Food - 5/5 stars! We had tikka chicken masala, regular naan and paneer with the peas and tomatoes. Outstanding flavors! We ordered mild on the spice level and it was a little spicy...but enough to where you can still taste the food. Rice pudding - nice blending of flavors to where it's not too sweet. Creamy enough and enough ratio with the rice. Seemed like a grandmother or mom made it that day. :) Not sure why other reviewers said it was bland. Their food is very good, but be aware that when you order curry or tikka dishes, you get a container with the curry, but no extras. No rice, no naan. Everything is Ala carte. Which is ok, as long as you are aware. I didn't know, and ended up having to make a pot of rice. read more

Best Indian food in the region! Everything single item i ever ordered was amazing, you can taste a great mix of flavored and spices in many of the dishes. I am super impressed, this is a hidden gem. I feel like the name of this restaurant is a bit misleading. Curry bowl to me sounds like quick cheap take out Indian food, and this place really delivers quality like a proper sit down. The prices are sit down pricing as well, but the portions are good and the food is worth it. Everything I've had here is amazing. Like, no exaggeration, so well seasoned and balances. Stand-outs are the butter chicken, vegetae pakora (so good, like stuffing - but Indian? The best my husband says he's ever had), and samasos. Their Tikka masala and Saag are delicious. I liked the bengan bharta too but might order it extra spicy next time. Great huge pieces of naan as well, complimentary tea - even their table sauces (the sweet one and the red one) are so good. Also, the customer service is fab. Everyone has been attentive and kind. One day we tried to order fish curry and they hadn't gotten their fish shiwnt yet, so they gave us naan on the house. So nice! I don't usually ever write a bad review but this was unacceptable! Idk what was worse? The service? The dry chicken tikka kabob? The frozen chicken seekh kabob? Or The 95% heavy cream chicken tikka massala? To make it easy it all sucked. We walked in at 820 and decide to order by 824. We asked to eat in because we knew we would be done before 9pm. For some reason the cashier decides to give us the most BS excuse I have ever heard, "Sir we can do it for eat in but because of the tandoori ovens it will take about 25 minutes and we close at 9." I then asked so if we take it to go it will be quicker? He said yes much quicker. Wallahi we got the food in less than 10 minutes. How does that make any sense? As a business owner in the restaurant industry this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. And guys 10 dollars for 2 frozen seekh kabobs (oh it became the biggest problem when we wanted an extra kabob) ? I can get 4 at naan n curry for the same price and at least I know it's made fresh. This place is good! Got the lamb Biryani and it had a lot of flavor. Samosa's were really good as well, pipping hot even after letting it sit for a while. I will definitely come back here for lunch. Great to see Clayton/Concord being more diverse. read more

Worst Service. I was at this restaurant with my family for Outdoor dining. I was trying to call the restaurant to order on phone called twice but no one answered the call. After reaching there we ordered food around 5:30 PM. He said that food will be ready in 15 mins. They placed plates on the table within 5 minutes but nothing was served for 30 minutes. It was getting cold so I took my baby back to car. After waiting for another 10 mins in the car we decided to ask them to pack the food for takeout. I used to come to this restaurant before this pandemic started. Later we started to order via Doordash. Now when outdoor dining is open decided to to go there. By far some of the best Indian cuisine in the area. You can tell they care about the quality of their food. Everything we had was made with love. We started off with the samosas; absolutely delicious & freshly made. Then came the lamb curry & the chicken tikka masala. Both were very flavorful. We had the option of how hot or mild we wanted these dishes. One order of rice was plenty for 2 people. The naan was so warm & perfect. We tried the plain as well as the garlic naan. The people that work at this place are completely incompetent. We ordered on door dash only to find that the food that they gave us is not at all what we ordered. I called and told them, at which point they told me that I was wrong, that maybe the receipt from door dash was wrong, and that the bowl I ordered is what they gave me. I regularly shop at Safeway and saw Curry Bowl. I have been curious but didn't take the plunge quite yet. I hopped on the Nextdoor app and someone had posted how great the food was. So I stopped in last night to place a to go order. I had asked the person who rang me up what he would recommend (I'm vegetarian)? He recommend the Navaratan Korma, immediately. So I ordered that with plain naan and samosa. The service was great, btw. He was very nice, offered me tea while I waited and brought my order to me. Anyway, brought the food home and grubbed everything!! He gave me complimentary rice which was a plus! The food is sooooo delicious! We love this place and we're so grateful that they are still here in our community, welcoming us with excellent Indian home cooking, despite this difficult pandemic. We ate there for Sunday dinner at one of the few tables inside. They also have tables outside. Most customers ordered takeout or delivery. We had Navratan Khorma, a delicious vegetarian creamy curry with nuts and legumes; lamb chops, and palak chicken. We had garlic naan and aloo naan. Love that you can customize spiciness via Doordash. Had their palak paneer and CTM at very spicy and they were indeed very spicy! Portions were also VERY generous. Chicken all the way through the container as well as cheese all through the palak paneer. I'm a very happy customer. Will be ordering from them again soon. read more

To this day. THE original Michelin Star, Cordon Bleu of Indian Food. Untouchable. My go to... and they always obliged me... Mushroom Korma. Please. If you ever find yourself in Newcastle - head to Fenham and the Brighton Tandoori - still there. Still. Supremely, magnificently, the orgasm of all Indian food. EVER. I do not lie. Tell I am wrong. And YOU are a liar! I digress...Always looking to recreate, relive the Brighton Tandoori. Thought I had. The first time I received food from the Curry Bowl. The Tandoori Chicken - really was, Tandoori Chicken. The navratan Korma was OK. The chicken tikka masala was delicious. Son ordered mild. These young Americans need time to develop their palate! 2nd time. The chicken tandoori had been passed over a grill and dried out spices passed over it. Not What Tandoori Chicken should be. You know, if you know Indian cooking. Know what Tandoori Chicken is. Traditionally marinated in yogurt and spices then roasted in a hot tandoor oven. A rich, vibrant color because of the turmeric and chili. The Star of Indian in SF - took their time to get it right. But we are in the East Bay. Be proud of your heritage. Don't cater to mild, mundane palates. Now I know, American palates are not versed in Indian cooking. But please. Those of us who are. Came to this restaurant for lunch because my family loves curry. The guy was cool and professional. The restaurant is a bit small and the tables / chairs were to close to each other. I would suggest taking out a set of chairs and 1 table to make the dine in experience a little more roomy. The samosas came out first and they were cooked right and flavorful. They came with 2 dipping sauces. A green sauce and a dark red sauce. Both were good. We ended up ordering butter chicken, chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, and naan bread. None of the chicken dishes comes with rice so you have to order a side of rice. The dishes were already $15 and a side of rice is $3. We all had to order a side of rice which is fine I get it. This is how they run their business. We for sure needed rice with the chicken. So we got the food and the chicken dishes were on a medium size plate with 6-7 chicken tenders about 2 inches in length. I'm not a huge eater but for the price we were paying all of us expected a little more. The plain rice also came in a small bowl and wasn't worth $3. My son who is 14 said this is it? We all started laughing. The food was good and had lots of flavor. The sauces were at the right temperature and super tasteful. The gentlemen always asked us if we need anything and also provided us with a pitcher of ice cold water. We ended up taking the left over chicken dishes home for dinner and making rice at home. Over all this restaurant is friendly, clean, and the food is good. It's pricy considering the amount of food they give. Came in for lunch, very good service from young man behind counter. Ordered the chicken curry mild with side of naan and rice. Flavor was on point, although curry was on the spicier side of mild. Restaurant super clean. Some tables for eat in, but more of a take out place, given limited space. Only complaint is that the portions seemed small for the price paid. Curry was about $12 and seemed to only have a little more than 1 chopped chicken thigh - definitely not big enough to share. $.02 Pro tip: Either lower prices or increase portion sizes and watch the customers line up out the door. read more

I know there's a pandemic and staffing is a nightmare etc. but the food I got from Curry Bowl was pretty awful. The fish tasted mass produced and the texture was nasty. The Butter Chicken was a soup with weird flavors and only several small pieces of chicken. The yogurt dipping sauce was watery and had little flavor. The eggplant dish had a texture like it has been cooking all day - it was mushy and it really didn't taste like it was from India. I hope they get their act together.... read more
