    Kathi roll
    Bindi S.

Why does this place have such a low rating? The food and ambience were amazing! Went on a rainy Sunday afternoon for brunch and the tall windows overlooking the rains made for a perfect atmosphere. Husband got the Kathi roll with paneer filling. It came with a spicy pico and frauds. He said it tasted great and would gladly eat it again. I got the paneer shammi kebab. Its a good low carb dish which came out on a sizzling platter. There were about 4 pieces of melt in your mouth paneer covered by the same pico. This dish was a bit spicy but the paneer was so tender. We also got vada pav for takeout and we'll tasted like the ones we get in Mumbai. You can really tell how excited I was about the food here:) Its going to be in my fav list for sure.

I don't understand why reviews are so low in my opinion , I am very picky with my Indian food palate and the flavor here is not rudimentary , there is depth without the overwhelming of aromatics or whole spices , food was hot and ready to demolish haha and not overtly spicy. I would say just as good as some of my close friend's home cooked versions of these dishes . The restaurant itself is a nice base building that has apartments and overhead tenants above it, overall really good and open late I'd come back just for the consistency to their flavor profiles compared to other Indian cuisine eateries I've been to before . Last but not least service was welcoming and restaurant dining area was packed .

My son surprised me at work by saying let's go for lunch. And he got me too curry up now. It's such a great location and parking also we found plenty knowing it was lunch hour. We got greeted and seated in few mins. Ordered the chicken burger which had fries along with it and son said meat was super tender and nice crunch to it. Fries tasted so much like peri peri. I got the blasted samosa platter or something which was wi heavy couldn't finish so packed it home. The sauce were amazing and so were people out there'. Read they have free chai from 3-5pm which is fun. Keep up the good job. Great location and great decor

    Cauliflower Rice Entrée

I ordered the American Punjabi thali and it was really good except the onion seed naan that was slightly undercooked around the edges. Other than that everything was on point, great packaging and overall quality. The portion was generous and the pav was perfectly soft with a bit of crisp. The bhaji was especially amazing. I also tried the cauliflower rice which was okay. Many places don't consistently maintain their standards but this spot seems to live up to the expectations. Can't wait to try more items from the menu!

I think I would give this place another try. The food was decent, the staff were very kind and welcoming though. Unfortunately didn't get a pic of the food but I got some varies room of the chicken tiki masala, wasn't a fan of the rice.

The food is ok.. it's westernized Indian food. The curries are too heavy. The chaat was ok but some were too sweet. This just seemed like a fancy place if you don't like the authentic Indian food. The ambience is sort of nice, but gets too noisy. We asked the waiter to close the blinds because the sun was falling on our faces but they didn't seem to care. They also got us the check very late.

I really want to give them a lower amount of stars based on how little I care about the food but the place doesn't deserve a bad rating. The main issue is that the food just isn't that great and I'd only come for the pani puri. Everything else is small in size and not worth it. Really, the only shining star is the mortar and pestle bar that is connected to this restaurant. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, pani puri, and samosas. They need to offer fries or something more filling than those fried crisps. Also the vibe of the bar and the restaurant just don't mesh well. I won't be coming back for the food. But if I do end up here, I'll be ordering drinks from the bar and pairing it pani puri.

    Naughty Naan (paneer)

Went to Curry Up Now with some coworkers on a Wednesday around 4:30pm. It was not too busy and we just so happened to be there for happy hour which is from 4-6pm. Cocktails were $9 so we ordered the mango sangria and the spicy margarita. Starters/snacks were buy one get one free so we ordered 2 bun samosa, one guac and chips, and one fried ravioli. Then we ordered the naughty naan. Mango sangria (2/5): The waiter put some perfume on it so it smelled good but otherwise it did not taste great. It tasted more like carbonated water and I didn't taste any mango flavor. The cocktail itself was not very strong either Bun samosa (4/5): This was solid. The samosa tasted good and there was a lot of butter on the bun so that tasted good as well. I liked the idea of a samosa burger. The peri peri fries that came with the samosa were alright. Guac and chips (2.5/5): This was average. I did not like the guacamole that much. It could have used more seasoning like salt, pepper, and lime. Ravioli (3.5/5): Simple but tasty. Deep fried cheese ravioli with tikka masala dip. I liked the cheese and the dish was nice and warm. Giving it a 3.5 since it is very straightforward Naughty naan with paneer (3/5): Looked delicious. There was lots of cheese and sauce on it. However, we were not fans of the sauce. It was a little sweet. I would have liked for it to be a little spicier Service was on the slower side and it took time for our food to come out. We waited about 15-20 minutes for our drinks and appetizers. After we placed the order for the naughty naan, that took another 20-25 minutes. Some of the appetizers seem to be frozen and reheated and the happy hour cocktails are not that strong. My coworker also tried the complimentary happy hour chai and he said it did not taste fresh. Some good things were the ambiance and the background music. Our bill came out to be $80 which was not bad for a group of 4 but considering it was happy hour and the food wasn't very fresh, I didn't leave feeling very satisfied. I don't think I would come back

    Samosa Chaat

Curry-Up Now has truly outdone itself with their modern California twist on traditional Indian cuisine! From the vibrant atmosphere to the creative dishes, every aspect of this restaurant promises an unforgettable dining experience. The cocktails, like The Mortal & Pestle and Summer Whip, were not only visually stunning but perfectly crafted to balance refreshing and bold flavors. As for the food, the Samosa Chaat and Bhel Puri were authentic yet had a contemporary flair, while the Guac Sev Puri was a delightful fusion that took street food to a whole new level. For mains, the Paneer Naughty Naan was cheesy and satisfying, and the Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito delivered a creative take on comfort food. The Lamb Sexy Fries were indulgent and flavorful, and the Tandoori Fried Sandwich was a crispy, spicy masterpiece. To end on a sweet note, the Hot Balls on Ice was the perfect dessert--an exciting blend of hot and cold with a unique presentation. Chef Das was very kind and staff made sure the service was good

While I loved the half restaurant half bar vibe, the food itself was mid. The lamb plate was soooo spicy I could barely finish it. I would probably only come back for the drinks which they have a wide selection of cocktail.

    Daal Lentil Halwa
    Meeta A.

Was craving for moong dal/lentil halwa and decided to pick up from Curry Up. Opened the paper bag to find this small bowl once I reached home. It costed me over 8$ for an average tasting few spoons of this halwa. Expensive and disappointing.

We used to frequent Curry Up Now in the past for dine-in, and sometimes catered work lunches, etc. But since the pandemic, it's been a while since we last visited. I am glad I got a chance to revisit them today. The dining area is colorful with painted walls. The restaurant has a full bar. Fairly spacious and could fit a few large groups. The service was friendly and nice. Tikka Masala Burrito (chicken): Their iconic Tikka masala with rice, Chana garbanzo masala, and sliced onions wrapped in a tortilla. Ghee Butter Makhni Burrito (chicken): mildly spiced butter masala with rice, Chana garbanzo masala, and sliced onions wrapped in a tortilla. The burritos were delicious, flavorful, and had a kick of spiciness to them.

So far my experiences here have been pleasant, with the service being friendly and there being an ample amount of seating inside. I've noticed that the food tends to run on the spicier side (we ordered mild and yet it was still spicy, though perhaps just a sign of my spice tolerance failing me), but outside of that it tasted good. Panni Puri - This was my first time trying a panni puri and it tasted really good, even though I found it spicy (we ordered mild). I especially loved the texture of the onions inside of it. I ate it earlier on which made it harder for me to tell which other dishes were spicy and which ones weren't at the time as a result of its lingering spiciness, but I would happily order it again given the opportunity. Punugulu/Veggie Puff/Vegetarian Fried Rice - All three of these were good and I do recall them being non-spicy. The veggie puff was especially refreshing after trying to get through the paneer pulav Mirchi Bajji - These were also good and surprisingly not as spicy as I thought they would be, considering that they have chili peppers in them Naan with House Vegetable Curry - The vegetable curry was really spicy and it took me a while to realize this because I was still dealing with the effects of the panni puri while I was eating this. Had I not brought some of it home as leftovers I probably would've thought that this was non-spicy Paneer Pulav - Much spicier than expected. I needed to use some of the curd to tone it down but it was still good. The texture of the rice was good too The cold drinks on their menu come in a reusable bottle and from their display I can assume that their desserts are the same way. So far the ones I've tried (mango lassi, rose milk, and chikoo shake) have been refreshing. There's also a falooda section that closes at around 8:00 pm, but I haven't been able to try them yet as both times we got there past eight. Overall a pleasant experience in spite of the spiciness. Perhaps one day I'll be strong enough to handle it without the curd, but it'll probably take a couple of additional visits before I can.

They catered our wedding of 260 guests, and Tarun and his team completely blew everyone away. We had a VERY hard-to-please crowd, including a lot of guests coming from India who work in hospitality and restaurants themselves, and people could not stop talking about the food. I searched high and low for a Bay Area Indian wedding caterer and honestly found a lot of the options disappointing. Amber was completely different. The food was incredibly flavorful, beautifully cooked, and actually presented well too, which can be hard to pull off at this scale. They are also a full service caterer, which makes managing the event much easier. We used Amber for all of our wedding events, and Tarun made sure every menu felt different and interesting rather than just repeating the standard butter chicken-type dishes. We had paneer tacos, Indo-Chinese served in Chinese takeout boxes, which was SUCH a cute touch, pani puri shooters that made them super easy to eat, and an incredible rasmalai tres leches for dessert, among many other items. The value is also amazing. For some of our pre-wedding events, we did their roughly $40/person package with four items plus dessert. I was worried it might not be enough food, but it was more than plentiful. Tarun himself is an absolute gem. He is kind, accommodating, creative, and goes above and beyond to make the event feel special. You can tell he genuinely cares. We did not want a standard buffet as we wanted the event to feel more elevated, and he did a great job of accomodating our request for family style, as well as serving apps + mains at two different venues in the South Bay ~20-30 min from each other. Our guests are still talking about the food. Amber India truly helped make our wedding weekend, and I would recommend them without hesitation. Easily one of the best decisions we made.

Traditional low tables invite you to kick off your shoes and settle onto floor cushions, instantly adding a cozy, almost homestyle feel. What We Ordered * Chicken Mandi - A show-stopping platter of fragrant basmati rice crowned with perfectly roasted chicken. The portion is generous (see photo!) and the spice profile leans savory-warm rather than tongue-scorching, so everyone at the table can dig in. * Mutton Curry - I rarely gamble on mutton when eating out, but this one converted me. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, swimming in a rich, slow-cooked gravy that balanced heat with a gentle hint of clove and cardamom. Absolutely outstanding. Service & Pace There's a sign at the entrance: "This is not fast food. Great taste takes time." Believe it. Dishes are cooked to order, so expect a leisurely wait. The staff checks in just enough to keep you updated, and once the platters hit the table you'll agree the patience tax is totally justified. Pro Tips 1. Plan for 20-30 minutes from order to first bite; use the time to soak in the music and décor. Bottom Line Indian Canteen's mix of Bollywood flair, floor seating, and from-scratch cooking turns dinner into an experience. I'm a sucker for Indo-Chinese food, so when I saw chow mein on the menu, I of course had to get some, and man was I glad that I did! The noodles were perfectly thin, the vegetables were grilled to perfection, and the dish had a great variety of textures. The samosa chaat was sensational and very unique. I loved the layering of flavors and textures and the toppings. 10/10 would recommend!

It's a fully self-serve setup--you order and pay at the counter, pick up paper plates, plastic cutlery (which I'm personally not a fan of), and napkins from the front, and once you're done eating, you're expected to clear your table as well. Given all of this, the expectation of tipping feels a bit confusing. That said, we came here for the food--and it truly delivered. My husband is Bengali and was craving authentic Bengali food, so we decided to try this place over the weekend, and we absolutely loved it. We started with the mutton (goat) cutlet and Mughlai paratha. The mutton cutlet was adequately stuffed, fried crispy to perfection, and tasted really good. The Mughlai paratha by itself was just okay, but when paired with the aloo tarkari (potato curry) it became an instant hit. For the main course, we ordered chicken chow mein and Katla fish curry with white rice, and both dishes truly transported us straight to Kolkata. The flavors were incredibly authentic, homely, and comforting--exactly the kind of food you crave when you miss home. I really wanted to try rasgulla, but I was so full that I had to skip it this time. Definitely going back to try more items from the menu--purely for the food. If you're looking for authentic Kolkata flavors and can overlook the basic setup, this place is absolutely worth a visit.
