Chicken Tikka masala , rice and green lentils ( daal)
Antony Z.

I don't understand why reviews are so low in my opinion , I am very picky with my Indian food palate and the flavor here is not rudimentary , there is depth without the overwhelming of aromatics or whole spices , food was hot and ready to demolish haha and not overtly spicy. I would say just as good as some of my close friend's home cooked versions of these dishes . The restaurant itself is a nice base building that has apartments and overhead tenants above it, overall really good and open late I'd come back just for the consistency to their flavor profiles compared to other Indian cuisine eateries I've been to before . Last but not least service was welcoming and restaurant dining area was packed .

Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito

My son surprised me at work by saying let's go for lunch. And he got me too curry up now. It's such a great location and parking also we found plenty knowing it was lunch hour. We got greeted and seated in few mins. Ordered the chicken burger which had fries along with it and son said meat was super tender and nice crunch to it. Fries tasted so much like peri peri. I got the blasted samosa platter or something which was wi heavy couldn't finish so packed it home. The sauce were amazing and so were people out there'. Read they have free chai from 3-5pm which is fun. Keep up the good job. Great location and great decor

I think I would give this place another try. The food was decent, the staff were very kind and welcoming though. Unfortunately didn't get a pic of the food but I got some varies room of the chicken tiki masala, wasn't a fan of the rice.

Cauliflower Rice Entrée

I ordered the American Punjabi thali and it was really good except the onion seed naan that was slightly undercooked around the edges. Other than that everything was on point, great packaging and overall quality. The portion was generous and the pav was perfectly soft with a bit of crisp. The bhaji was especially amazing. I also tried the cauliflower rice which was okay. Many places don't consistently maintain their standards but this spot seems to live up to the expectations. Can't wait to try more items from the menu!

The food is ok.. it's westernized Indian food. The curries are too heavy. The chaat was ok but some were too sweet. This just seemed like a fancy place if you don't like the authentic Indian food. The ambience is sort of nice, but gets too noisy. We asked the waiter to close the blinds because the sun was falling on our faces but they didn't seem to care. They also got us the check very late.

Samosas & Pani Puri

I really want to give them a lower amount of stars based on how little I care about the food but the place doesn't deserve a bad rating. The main issue is that the food just isn't that great and I'd only come for the pani puri. Everything else is small in size and not worth it. Really, the only shining star is the mortar and pestle bar that is connected to this restaurant. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, pani puri, and samosas. They need to offer fries or something more filling than those fried crisps. Also the vibe of the bar and the restaurant just don't mesh well. I won't be coming back for the food. But if I do end up here, I'll be ordering drinks from the bar and pairing it pani puri.

Naughty Naan (paneer)
Anusha S.

Went to Curry Up Now with some coworkers on a Wednesday around 4:30pm. It was not too busy and we just so happened to be there for happy hour which is from 4-6pm. Cocktails were $9 so we ordered the mango sangria and the spicy margarita. Starters/snacks were buy one get one free so we ordered 2 bun samosa, one guac and chips, and one fried ravioli. Then we ordered the naughty naan. Mango sangria (2/5): The waiter put some perfume on it so it smelled good but otherwise it did not taste great. It tasted more like carbonated water and I didn't taste any mango flavor. The cocktail itself was not very strong either Bun samosa (4/5): This was solid. The samosa tasted good and there was a lot of butter on the bun so that tasted good as well. I liked the idea of a samosa burger. The peri peri fries that came with the samosa were alright. Guac and chips (2.5/5): This was average. I did not like the guacamole that much. It could have used more seasoning like salt, pepper, and lime. Ravioli (3.5/5): Simple but tasty. Deep fried cheese ravioli with tikka masala dip. I liked the cheese and the dish was nice and warm. Giving it a 3.5 since it is very straightforward Naughty naan with paneer (3/5): Looked delicious. There was lots of cheese and sauce on it. However, we were not fans of the sauce. It was a little sweet. I would have liked for it to be a little spicier Service was on the slower side and it took time for our food to come out. We waited about 15-20 minutes for our drinks and appetizers. After we placed the order for the naughty naan, that took another 20-25 minutes. Some of the appetizers seem to be frozen and reheated and the happy hour cocktails are not that strong. My coworker also tried the complimentary happy hour chai and he said it did not taste fresh. Some good things were the ambiance and the background music. Our bill came out to be $80 which was not bad for a group of 4 but considering it was happy hour and the food wasn't very fresh, I didn't leave feeling very satisfied. I don't think I would come back

Samosa Chaat
Akshata D.

Curry-Up Now has truly outdone itself with their modern California twist on traditional Indian cuisine! From the vibrant atmosphere to the creative dishes, every aspect of this restaurant promises an unforgettable dining experience. The cocktails, like The Mortal & Pestle and Summer Whip, were not only visually stunning but perfectly crafted to balance refreshing and bold flavors. As for the food, the Samosa Chaat and Bhel Puri were authentic yet had a contemporary flair, while the Guac Sev Puri was a delightful fusion that took street food to a whole new level. For mains, the Paneer Naughty Naan was cheesy and satisfying, and the Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito delivered a creative take on comfort food. The Lamb Sexy Fries were indulgent and flavorful, and the Tandoori Fried Sandwich was a crispy, spicy masterpiece. To end on a sweet note, the Hot Balls on Ice was the perfect dessert--an exciting blend of hot and cold with a unique presentation. Chef Das was very kind and staff made sure the service was good

Lamb Rogan Josh Entre

While I loved the half restaurant half bar vibe, the food itself was mid. The lamb plate was soooo spicy I could barely finish it. I would probably only come back for the drinks which they have a wide selection of cocktail.

Daal Lentil Halwa
Meeta A.

Was craving for moong dal/lentil halwa and decided to pick up from Curry Up. Opened the paper bag to find this small bowl once I reached home. It costed me over 8$ for an average tasting few spoons of this halwa. Expensive and disappointing.

Drinks at the bar
James C.

Not sure how the rating is so low. The food was great. The drinks were good, but small. The prices were reasonable. I did knock off a star for the cost due to the small size of the drinks. It has a chill vibe, and the bartender when we were there, I think his name was Fernando, was excellent. Very friendly and knowledgeable.

They are known for their very generous Mandi dish, which is a Yemeni dish that gained popularity in Hyderabad due to Yemeni immigrants. It's a combination of flavored rice and a variety of meats. The restaurant was super busy, which speaks to how popular it is, but the service was pretty slow & they were out of many food items as a result. The restaurant has regular seating and, in addition, cute closed booths where you can sit at a low table in the traditional Indian way. The rice was seasoned with hawaij and toasted raisins and almonds, and the fish was nicely crispy and covered in a sauce similar to tikka masala, very tasty. They have a few different kinds of delicious yellow dal that make a great accompaniment to Mandi -- spinach, tomato, mango pickle. The menu is very extensive, with a wide range of Telugu dishes. Traditional low tables invite you to kick off your shoes and settle onto floor cushions, instantly adding a cozy, almost homestyle feel. What We Ordered * Chicken Mandi - A show-stopping platter of fragrant basmati rice crowned with perfectly roasted chicken. The portion is generous (see photo!) and the spice profile leans savory-warm rather than tongue-scorching, so everyone at the table can dig in. * Mutton Curry - I rarely gamble on mutton when eating out, but this one converted me. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, swimming in a rich, slow-cooked gravy that balanced heat with a gentle hint of clove and cardamom. Absolutely outstanding. Service & Pace There's a sign at the entrance: "This is not fast food. Great taste takes time." Believe it. Dishes are cooked to order, so expect a leisurely wait. The staff checks in just enough to keep you updated, and once the platters hit the table you'll agree the patience tax is totally justified. Pro Tips 1. Go with friends--the mandi platter is made for sharing. 2. Weekends mean live music; arrive a bit early if you want prime floor-seat real estate. 3. Plan for 20-30 minutes from order to first bite; use the time to soak in the music and décor. Bottom Line Indian Canteen's mix of Bollywood flair, floor seating, and from-scratch cooking turns dinner into an experience. If you're craving authentic mandi and a mutton curry , mark this spot on your Milpitas food map--and don't forget to bring your patience and your camera.
