Most disgusting were the fried Punjabi Chicken 69 and Gobi Manchurian (supposed to be crisp cauliflower). There were no vents in the fried dishes so they were mush. The fried chicken were not wings or drums, but little chunks all covered in batter... and the batter was so burnt. I think they refried this a few times and tried to serve it.... The cauliflower was drenched in a sour, salty sauce that was sooo spicy, I hate wasting food, but I had to toss out both of these dishes in the trash. Cute paper boxes and bag...(great paper packaging and compostable sporks over plastic).... It all looks pretty, but all tastes awful. The Ghee Makhni Butter Chicken 16 oz reminds me of a sweet roasted tomato soup. The chicken in it was at least tender. Worst $50 ever. One of my worst meals thus far is South Bay. Met a friend here for dinner, drinks, and conversation on a Saturday evening, and this was the perfect setting... clean and modern, with great lighting and various options for seating.  We shared a couple dishes, and absolutely loved them. We had the Naughty Naan (Indian pizza) with chicken tikka masala, and it was served hot, slightly crispy, with a generous amount of cheese and sauce, a hint of sweetness and a tad spicy with the jalapeno topping, and the pieces of chicken tender and seasoned well. From the street snacks menu, we tried the Mini Samosas. Those curried potatoes were so tasty, and the shell was certainly flaky as advertised and not too thick or heavy.  For drinks, I got the Pimm's O'Clock and Perennials and Poison from Mortar & Pestle, since the bar and restaurant are combined. The drinks are pretty consistent here, so they were delicious and made well. Unfortunately the service at Mortar & Pestle is also consistently SLOW, and this isn't the first time I've experienced this sloth-like service, so I guess that's just how they do it here.  Luckily, the food service at Curry Up Now was far more reasonable. So if you're coming here mainly to eat, you'll probably be pleased with your experience... even more if you like the smell of curry (me, not too much). I tried Curry Up several times already, last time was on Memorial Day. It was quite empty at a lunch time and I picked the table near window. I ordered Meat Sweats Thali Platter that was enough for 2 people in regards to the size of the portion. I really enjoyed it, it wasn't too spicy ( and I specifically asked for it), saucy and tasty. They give you enough Naan, rice and even chips. The waiter also brings you a bottle of water. During the weekdays they serve you with hot Chai tea and 2 pieces of cookies. The place itself is quite comfy, spacious and colourful. It's cool that you can open the menu with QR code and pay through your phone. The service was better in the past, but maybe it was just a holiday and it was difficult to find enough people to work this day. read more

I ordered the rice with lamb sorry I don't remember the exact name of the dish. The food came put fast, it was delicious spicy and flavorful. The drink was horrendous, it wasn't balanced at all and it had a lit cinnamon stick i am all for the aroma flavor and showmanship but really? I had to put it out on the counter top to avoid the ashes from falling in my drink. When I was there the system was down when I was attempting to pay so I offered cash, he couldn't open the till lol. The staff was nice but maybe they don't have the tools they need to succeed. On a side note there was a robot bringing food to the tables and I thought that was soo cool. A very good place for family dining experience with a huge Indian menu. You would find a lot of vegan and #indo vegetarian options here. Pav bhaji - the healthier version of the pav bhaji. - it did not taste wonderful like a roadside dish. But, I was happy as it looked extremely healthy, exactly like I would prepare at home -3/5 Thali - the thali is full. And if you are a curry fan, like me, you would enjoy the collection of 3 full cups of curry/dal in teh thali and you would be full with that - 3/5 We had cheese crackers kind of thing. The inside was pretty and there are a lot of fun choices. The inside decor is super fun too and a nice tribute to the food truck they started as! We tried the new chili chicken off the Indian Chinese menu and kids meal butter paneer to go. The guy said the chili chicken isn't too spicy but... my mouth was burning I know I'm weak but make sure you have lots of rice or naan! My kid LOVED the butter paneer and "steering wheel crisps" that came with it. He thought those were so fun and enjoyed the little biscuits to finish it off! Received a coupon to try a new item for free and came by on a Friday night to redeem the offer. Once you enter, it's confusing to navigate as first timers. We didn't know if we should wait at the front, seat ourselves or head to the counter. We went to the cashier to ask how to redeem this coupon and the Indian man in grey uniform (looked like head chef) insisted that the offer was ONLY for dine in. Nowhere on the offer email or offer ad does it say for dine in only. My bf and I planned to get it to go since we had a dog with us and preferred not to eat there. He told us to order from the table QR code to redeem the offer. We were annoyed at that point and went to an outdoor table to order with the QR code to find that there isn't a place to enter the coupon on the check out tab. Went back to the cashier and another lady helped us out and said for the offer we need to order through one of them. Annoyed since the Indian man told us the opposite. Anyways, after all that confusion I ordered the chicken biryani and my bf got the chili chicken. We sat at the outdoor patio and no one brought any water, utensils, plates, etc to us. My bf's chili chicken came first and the worker who delivered the dish was soo friendly and brought us sharing plates, utensils and water without having to request it. My biryani came a few min after and after mixing it, i noticed there was no chicken inside. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to come with actual pieces of chicken or it's just flavoring. I was waiting for someone to come out to check on us to ask about it but no one came so I went back in after 10 min to ask. The lady came out and said it's the wrong dish and took it back and the chicken biryani came 10 min later. Not sure if this is unreasonable but I appreciate when workers let us keep the wrong dish due to food waste and it's extra food that they'll just toss lol. Chili chicken was very saucy and tasted pretty good. The few bites of veggie biryani we tried was good. The chicken biryani lacked flavor. My bf really enjoyed the yogurt sauce the biryani comes with. Bad experience due to poor service and average food.
