The service is poor, but not because the staff are not trying. They are just overwhelmed. They only have two or three people working on prescriptions and helping customers. They need at least four people working full time and five people during peak hours. CVS is expecting too much out of too few workers. Corporate needs to get off of their ass and come down and help them OR here is an idea, they need to give up their big Christmas bonuses and hire more staff to help customers. Poor pharmacy service . You're either on hold for an hour or someone picks up after 20 minutes and then hangs up on you so you have to start all over again . They say your prescription will be ready in an hour but three hours later there is no indication on your app that it has been filled and you can't call and get through to anyone and it's already 8pm so you have to wait till the next day. The next day they tell you in will take one hour and here it is 2 hours later and still not filled . The prescriptions should have been filled 5 days ago . This isn't the first time this has been happening . The pharmacy manager can be really rude especially over a mistake they made giving me more medication than was prescribed . If you have a special order Med that's not in stock , you will only get it the next day if it's order mOn , tues or wed morning otherwise you have to wait 6 days if something is ordered on wed afternoon . That is very inconvenient if the medication is time sensitive . Drive through is also super slow . I will say is I think they are very overwhelmed and understaffed which could be part of the phone problem and the time Of filling the prescriptions read more

This is a fairly new CVS and is always stocked and ready for all of your needs. Mostly I use this location to fill prescriptions or get vitamins. I've never had a problem and its always fast courteous service without any hassles. Its definitely clean, not at all ghetto like some of the Walgreen's in the area and you can get everything you need and more like a small grocery store. read more

This CVS has a terrible pharmacy. It's slow, irresponsible, doesn't understand confidentiality, and doesn't follow-up. It's a pain to get prescriptions filled in a timely manner. There is also no effort to help customers with prescription transfers, refill requests, etc. My most annoying experience has been listening to a pharmacist talk about how lazy the Riverside CVS is and then say she would handle my prescription transfer. She never did. When I went back to try again I had to have the same long convo and endure accusations about my laziness and the Riverside location's laziness. After all the drama they didn't even have my prescription in stock. It took over a week from my doctor sending a prescription to me actually getting it. read more

It is a little weird reviewing something everyone is familiar with, but maybe my review will help with which location you choose? So, I've been going back and forth between this location and the other on William Cannon and Mopac. I heart CVS. I was very excited to finally live close enough to one for my scripts. They gave me a credit just for switching over, etc... all the 'come and try us' stuff. I will continue to fill my scripts at the William Canon location, but will only shop at Slaughter for makeup and beauty products. While that works here, I have found the pharmacy to be a little, well... kinda dumb. I've twice now had calls about scripts that were sent there by mistake and the pharmacist never caught the error and kept calling me any way, even though I explicitly told her what was wrong) But this location still has it's perks: Slaughter location just seems to be well stocked with everything. If I can't find a lip gloss at WC, I come here, and there it is. The discount and coupons for your purchase are crazy awesome. (with the CVS card) I know another reviewer didn't like that, but I've gotten actual $$ (to use on anything at CVS) just for buying a Maybelline lipstick. It cost me $6 and I got a $5 coupon to any purchase I make next. (a month ago I got $20 credit just for buying 3 $4 lip items) How awesome is that?? I personally really like the guys (literally) who work at the WC location, especially the glasses dude. He's super nice and friendly and always has something interesting to say. The Slaughter location, is well, staffed by the ladies. I mean it really is that way. Men at one, ladies at another. They are nice and been really helpful with my coupons and getting the most out of my purchase. So, there it is, one for one reason, the 2nd for another. read more

Very tough place to work with. Unfortunately my insurance only covers CVS so I am stuck with it. Usually it happens like that 1 I drop off two prescriptions. 2. I wait half an hour (or a day) 3. I come to the counter. They have some minor problem with prescription and need to ask you a simple question that they should have asked half an hour ago. 4. They put your prescription to the back of the line so I just have to wait more. 5. At the end when it is time to pay you realize that they only filled one prescription and they did not even bother to look at the other one. Ineptitude at this place is astonishing. At the end they apologize. That's all. I realize that stuff happens but this happens EVERY TIME I fill a prescription there. My Mom is going through a chemo so we fill a lot of prescriptions. read more

If I could give them a negative star I would. Now, are you looking for a pharmacy or a corner store? As a corner store they're overpriced and give coupons for things you don't need that expire before you can get back in. They also keep track of all your purchases, including your medicines. If you're looking for a pharmacy: *Don't always have even common prescriptions in the store, including ones I refill on regular basis. *Put up a big sign say "24 hours." Come to find out, that's just for the corner store, not the pharmacy. *CVS Caremark is a pharmacy AND a pharmacy benefit manager. PBMs are the jerks who say what medicine you can have even if your doctor orders something else. *They sell your prescription history so they can push you into using mail order, even if you can pick it up at a CVS. They are big brother in the worst possible way. read more

What kind of a pharmacy doesn't carry douche or enema bags? CVS on Slaughter Lane, apparently. After discreetly inquiring as to the whereabouts of their hot water bottles, I was directed to a shelf at the back of the store. No attachments to be seen. Then on to the laxatives section, only to find some ridiculously tiny disposable bottles filled with salt solution. Nothing else. Then on to the feminine hygiene section to see if they had a douche bag instead. Nothing here either. Then I spent at least 20 minutes scouring the store for (a) a complete kit, or (b) a hose to attach to a hot water bottle. Nothing. I don't care what anybody says: 1) All drug stores should carry basic stuff like this IN the store, and not just on-line. When you need it, it's a bloody EMERGENCY. 2) Any educated pharmacist should know that Fleet enemas have very limited usefulness, and can actually be frigging dangerous! The average layman has no idea that the "saline" variety of these little horrors, instead of containing a soothing physiological saline solution, actually contain a hypertonic salt solution that causes you to involuntarily "bear down" with such violence that it could send someone with hemorrhoids to the hospital. 3) Nobody should have to ask where something like this is hidden - it should be right there in front of your eyes. read more

This pharmacy has gotten more wrong than right. The ineptitude is astounding. Today will be the last day our family uses this pharmacy. It has taken them 48 hrs to fill a simple prescription. My wife went to pick it up yesterday and they informed her they had not received it only to find it laying on the counter right in front of their faces. They said the would have it ready by closing time and call us when it was ready. Never got a call. Called this morning and "we have no record of that prescription." What the ever loving heck?!?!?! It's not the first time either. Last year I was picking up a prescription for my 1 year old and they gave me somebody else's order. Luckily I noticed. Could have killed my son. This review is solely based on my experience with Kara at CVS. She has been my advocate in a long process of me dealing with insurance and doctors etc. to get certain prescriptions covered. Always willing to answer questions, she's patient and genuinely invested in the customers best interest. As challenging as it sometimes to get prescriptions filled here, having Kara's expertise makes it worth it. read more

Awful, just awful. These people cannot refill a prescription with your doctor. They will claim they contacted the doctor and have not received a response. Then you call your doctor and he tells you we have sent them multiple responses already. Nobody there really cares about doing a good job. Also, their App is atrocious, it would list the same medication multiple times with some items marked as inactive even though it is the same exact prescription. On top of that, this particular pharmacy has absolutely no privacy at the counter. The people there would loudly talk about your prescription, repeating your date of birth, or your address and phone number. It is terrible. I am moving my prescriptions elsewhere. read more

This is my neighborhood CVS on Brodie. We have filled prescriptions there for years and have been through several managers and pharmacists. The current manager and pharmacists are the best they have had. Overall the staff is helpful and the store is clean. My only minor frustration is that vitamins and supplements are strangely arranged and divided. read more

This CVS is the best in town. Now, even the best has it's little flaws, but this CVS does everything it can to make those flaws disappear. The front of the store is managed by a man named Donny. He is a very nice man who makes sure he hires the right people to take care of the needs of the from of the store. Also, he's a man that doesn't just manage from an office. He interacts with customers and has a firm grip on the front of the store. I'll get back to him in a minute. The pharmacy is run my lead pharmacist Alfonso and Lead Tech Kara... Since I am a patient who has had two brain surgeries I am a patient who has come in at times with special needs. One of those times I came in and had a TIA in other words is a mini-stroke. Immediately 911 was called and paramedics took me to the hospital and they found a heart defect and at the same time CVS is secured my car keys contacted my partner and took care of all of the things that I could not take care of because I was in the grasp of an emergency. Even before that event and now after that event I trust my life with CVS pharmacy. Alfonso is always happy to see my progress and Kara has made me feel as if I was a close friend of hers. I wish the corporate office could know all of the great things these fine people do day-in and day-out. There are others, such as Sara-Jane, Melissa, Vanessa that also work just as hard. And I would name everyone in the store. But CVS, if you want to do an authentic commercial. Come here. Meet us. See what happens here. I post this because I I'm in a deep debt of gratitude. My wife's prescription plan switched from Walgreens to CVS two years ago. Since then we have had about 23 months of different problems with customer service: you do the math! When we do to the drive through we usually wait 20 minutes. When we go inside we usually wait about 20 minutes. So the average wait time for anything is, well...20 minutes. And this includes the slow parts of the day when no one is in the store. There have been numerous times when we get there and the script is not ready, or worse yet not in stock. There is one person there that is actually friendly and I believe it is the manager they hired somewhat recently. Other than that they suck. The service problems have become such a fiasco at times that it could probably be made into a comedy. Truthfully I have always had an aversion to CVS to some reason and prefer Walgreens, a company that I see as much more progressive and professional. I wish to never enter a CVS store ever again and it turns out I don't have to . We found out the prescription carrier also uses HEB. read more

I have been to this pharmacy three times since we moved to this area. They are so awful compared to the one I have used for the last five years at slaughter and first. I have been on hold before for over 40 minutes until I drove all the way from my house to the pharmacy walked into the front door back to get in line and when I reached the point of being two people from coming up to The counter they heard their elevator music on my phone and picked my call up at that time. I stood one person back (in line) from the counter and ask them on my phone if my prescription was ready. I have tried to pick up my prescriptions in drive up but lines have been as many as five cars deep trying to get theirs it's not worth waiting 30 to 45 minutes in a drive up. Just now I called and asked them to fax in a refill for my inhaler and the person I was speaking to ask me three different times if I would call my doctor and tell them I need a refill I finally told her for a third time that they need to fax it in order to get it so would they please please fax the doctor, she hung up on me. I have NEVER EVER had any problems like this at the CVS at slaughter and 1st. So I'm going back over there. read more

My wife and I began coming to this CVS store a year ago when we moved from El Paso to Austin. It was the first time for me to even step into a CVS. I will never go back to Walgreens or Walmart for my prescriptions. It has been such a rewarding experience!!! It starts with Pharmacy Manager Alfonso and continues with staff. Went to drive thru pharmacy today for my daughter's prescriptions. I wrote all my info including telephone number on back.of prescription as requested. They said to come back.in hour..ok no problem.. so I wait about 1 hour and 10 minutes in the parking lot in my car with my 2 children for the prescription to be ready. Drive back through and said they didn't have a prescription ready for me.. what ???? Then they said oh the insurance needs to be verified first.. ok I have been waiting for over an hour and you have not verified my Insurance or even started to work on meds ? Needless to say I got very upset and took my prescription elsewhere and had it filled with no problem.normally I do not write reviews But I felt the way this was handled was unacceptable. I.told them I would be waiting and my daughter is sick with bronchitis... I called this pharmacy and was TOLD to hold, not ASKED, nor was I ASKED if I minded holding, nor did they ask what I needed, to see if maybe it was a quickie they could handle real quick before asking me to hold. Nothing of the sort. I was simply told to hold, slapped on hold, and held for 30 minutes, before I hung up. I called back 3 times after that and was slapped on hold so fast I couldn't get a word out fast enough to get their attention. So, I called the regular store number and talked to the store manager, who said he would take care of it, and then put me in touch with the pharmacist himself, who handled my issue inside of 2 minutes. Why was that so hard? I am very tempted to move my prescriptions to Target, and I just may, as soon as I look into it. Don't expect to be treated like you mean anything at all if you need to be helped over the phone by these people. They act like phone customers are the lowest of the low, the most insignificant of customers that ever existed, and have no value compared to their "real" job duties. I got a CVS disposable camera and so I figured I'd develop the film at the actual store, instead of Walgreens like I usually do. I got it put on a CD and when I went home I found out that all the pictures were really shitty and had lines all over them. I know for sure it wasn't my fault because I looked it up and it has to do with the actual developing of the photograph. I am not pleased at all with how they turned out. I couldn't even post them. It's mostly disappointing because I saw my favorite band and took some AWESOME pictures...if they had not had green and red and blue lines all over them.. read more
