I came to this pharmacy while visiting from out of town. I had a script from a local doctor, but I was not in their computer system or known to them. This is significant because I was filling a free trial of what turned out to be a controlled substance medication. At no time was I asked for an I.D. to verify my identity. In filling this script since they ask to see my I.D. when I drop it off and pick it up. They filled the prescription despite it not being written on the correct type of prescription pad. I actually didn't know it was a controlled substance! There was a weird interaction when I went to pick it up. The man who waited on me repeatedly asked if I lived on a particular local street then when I said I did not he left for a few minutes with the script. I was suppose to have 30 pills. The bottle turned out to have 15 even though it said it contained 30. I went back to CVS to talk to them about it. The inventory was recounted and it indeed indicated that the bottle had 30 pills and they stated that they recounted controlled substances, however I had 15. The woman suggested that someone may have stolen them. There was no chance, but I wonder if someone did on their end...it is an expensive drug and that man leaving with no explanation make me wonder. However it is my word against theirs and to persist made me look like a drug addict. I talked to the doctor about it and said an incident report should have been filed and that she knew of someone else who was shorted on her medication there. Moral of the story is if this is where you fill your prescriptions they are not following the usual protocols for controlled substances and count your pills before you leave. I was there earlier. I was getting something for my hubby on vday. My 2 year old was showing a bit of temper tantrum since he was tired. The cashier name Lilibeth. Lilly for short. Assist me with my son by grabbing a cart outside and help me put him sitting inside the seat. I was surprised that she was very helpful. You need more workers like her especially helpful. read more

If you can't even get into the parking lot or the store, what's the point. Apparently, CVS has decided it's not worth monitoring the parking lot any more, meaning tourists visiting the Aquarium & other Cannery Row businesses now take up the vast majority of the parking spaces. Either that, or they had 400 people in the store the other day. I had to sit in my car for 5-10 minutes, in a line of other cars (many of which were being driven by lazy or incompetent drivers who just wanted to sit still and wait for a space to become available), only to drive around back and find out there wasn't a single space open. Sorry, CVS, I won't try to shop there during daylight hours. Not worth it. read more

Miserable pharmacy service! They create complications instead of easing the way. As an example: my injectable medication is available for pickup today, but the 3cc syringe I need to inject the medication can't be refilled for two weeks. "Is there any way to correct this so the medication and syringe can be picked up at the same time?" The question confuses them each time I ask it and for more than a year no one has been able to fix this very simple problem. No matter who I talk to they seem confused and overwhelmed. I'm searching for a new pharmacy with staff that actually give a damn about customers. read more

This CVS was typical of mosts. The layout was a bit awkward but we were able to find what we needed fairly easily. The store was fairly organized with lots of different options. I'm still in disbelief that they have a pay phone outside! It has to be one of the last ones in CA. Overall this CVS was decent. This was the first place in Monterey were I felt I ran into people they are not as financially secure as more of the people in the area, but every town will have these areas. read more

I normally limit my Yelp reviews to restaurants, but after my experiences as of late at CVS, I felt it was my duty to warn fellow Yelpers to stay away from CVS--far away! Even though the store got a fresh remodel after CVS bought out Long's Drugs, there is never anything in stock. I repeat, NEVER. I've found myself coming out empty-handed on more than one occasion because their shelves are often empty. What does remain on the shelves is the CVS brand. I'm terribly bothered by this trend--there's an overabundance of CVS-branded products, but the good, name-brand products are gone. I'm not opposed to using generics--they're a great alternative in this tight economy--but sometimes your money is better spent on the real deal rather than a cheap knock-off. The service here is terrible too--there's rarely more than two registers open, even if the lines snake back into the aisles. Here's a tip, save yourselves from this frustration and just go to Walgreens or Target--skip CVS. read more

OK.. so, this place must have gotten all excited by Shiho F's excitement about them being open until midnight, because now they're open 24 hours! And, from what I've experienced here on vaca... that IS huge! I'm from San Diego... and I'd say San Diego is certainly a sleepy town compared to New York, LA, Boston... even Seattle. But Monterey makes San Diego look like Paris where you don't even start to think about going out until 11PM. Having a 24 hour CVS (or is it Longs?... I could have sworn it said Long's on the building... but what do I know... I'm a sleepy San Diegan) is HUGE. It's perfect for those times when you, or more precisely, your wife realizes that she doesn't have any conditioner and all other stores are closed. Oh... I had to pick up some allergy medicine too. Monterey's one of those typical smaller cities that doesn't have 24 hour grocery. I commend California on being anti-corporation, but a couple of 24 hour grocery stores won't hurt. Anyway, CVS is the spot for 24 hour needs in Monterey. This is a typical CVS location with cheap cigs, good random sales here & there, and of course the extra bucks rewards. I do not like the fact that they no longer carry the Function drinks!! And this location has a bad snack selection as well. Only giving it 3 because of staying open 24 hours and having the extra bucks program. Otherwise, their selection is below average. read more

The pharmacy was great but the employees were not. I was trying to find a beauty blender but couldn't find it, so I walked the whole store and couldn't find any employees. So I went up to a cashier and asked if they had anyone on the floor and instead of answering my question they said " what are you looking for?", I stated that I was looking for a beauty blender and that I couldn't not find it and the employee did not know what it was so I explain and then she just said we don't have it. I understand the store could be under staff and that there was a line. But I had no problem waiting for a employee to help. I went in to get my prescription my doctor gave me for sleep deprivation to keep me awake while driving. This was my third attempt to get my prescription, when I pushed the pharmacist to listen to me, he called 911. Why does everything around Cannery Row close like at 7pm? 10pm and the baby wants milk...we trek around Cannery Row and find this Longs Drugs open, Thank GOD! We breathe a sigh of relief as we stumble inside and yes they are open! We buy milk, snacks for the kids and we head out. Being a tourist in a city you've never been to before, and finding what you need to buy when everything else is closed..it's a blessing! read more

Ugh, this place drives me batty. They're big enough to have the basics and are open 24 hours a day, but every time I go in there looking for something specific, they don't have it. Prices are iffy. They DO have a nice section with natural/organic toiletries and the like, however, they aren't cheap. I've had the worst luck with the pharmacy. They'll make you wait forever, and aren't helpful or friendly. For instance, tonight I stopped in with a prescription and the lady asked if I was going to wait. I said sure, how long do you think it'll be? And she said about 15 minutes. FORTY-FIVE minutes later it was finally ready, and we're not talking about something complicated here! During this time they filled prescriptions for people who came in after me, and when I finally inquired about its status after 35 minutes wondering if they'd lost it, the lady didn't apologize at all, and perhaps I was just imagining things, but afterwards it seems like she was specifically ignoring me as she helped the next 10 people before FINALLY offering to give me my prescription. I've had other not-great experiences in the past, but this is it, I'm not going to use their pharmacy again. read more

I had my doctor call in a new prescription, as another doctor had prescribed some thibg months ago that i had a bad reaction to.. I went in, identified my self, identified the doctor. They said it was almost ready. When ready I picked it up and took it home. Just before taking it I noticed that the doctors name was wrong. It was the wrong drug. I called the CVS pharmacist he told me it was my fault and refused to identify himself. This guy is going to kill someone. read more

Everybody here was very knowledgeable and helpful in helping me find my OTC meds as well as the pharmacist in helping me resolve a minor Rx discrepancy. They were very busy yet the wait was minimal. I've also come here at odd hours since it's one of the few places open all night long! Definitely worth my five stars. read more

I've shopped at this CVS several times. I've grown up in Monterey county and am about to move across the country due to military relocation. I drove to the CVS to pick up some false eyelash glue and mascara while I was in the area (but they did not have the items I needed in stock). So I went out and decided to walk to the ocean front one last time before I leave in about a week (I had moved my car at least 150ft as per Monterey parking time rules before I walked, but had remained in the same parking lot). When I returned shortly after, I noticed a citation on my windshield. The meter maid was still in the parking lot, giving citations to ALL the cars in the same row as me. When I asked what my violation was, she simply stated "Sorry, the woman in CVS just told me to cite all these cars." I told her that there were no markings/warnings on my tires or car or any of the other cars, and she repeated the same thing and told me to talk to the manager inside. The manger was absolutely wicked. I told her my story and that it must have been an honest mistake and she was just cold. All she kept saying was that she always gets complaints about there never being parking in the lot so she has to issue citations. Well, Honey, on a Monday afternoon, the parking lot was not even half full whenever I arrived, moved my car, AND came back to my car after a short walk. She kept saying the same thing as an excuse, that she has to deal with complaints about no parking and has to cite everyone she believes has been there too long. The sheer attitude and disrespect I received was nothing short of ridiculous. I understand that she must be put in a tight spot, with people complaining about parking and her trying to enforce parking, but I followed common Monterey procedure with moving my car and there was plenty of empty parking spaces in the middle of a MONDAY. AND I was a CVS customer! They just didn't have my items in stock! Basically, I'm telling everyone NOT TO SHOP HERE. You WILL get cited for virtually no reason at any point and be taunted by a member of "management" the least professional CVS I have ever been to. I will refuse to support this business from this point forward because this particular experience was THAT impactful. Thanks for making my last day in Monterey utterly disappointing. read more

I cannot tell you how much I love this CVS! Shirley always takes great care of us. My daughter needed her Meningitis vaccine and they took care of her right away. I don't know how Shirley is always so kind but I'm so grateful for her great customer service! Our pharmacist Edward Gallo is so nice and upbeat! My daughter said the vaccine didn't hurt! That made my day! Great local CVS and I just had to comment because they are so nice! read more

I had an issue with a mistake on a time-sensitive prescription and left feeling a bit stressed out after discovering they wouldn't fill it. My Doctor called and sorted it out. The pharmacist on duty, David, went above and beyond by personally calling me to tell me the issue had been resolved and my prescription was ready only two hours before they closed...on a Sunday. He could have blown me off and waited until the next day, but he didn't. He knew I was frustrated and totally came through for me. I didn't expect to hear from them, and I absolutely didn't expect him to personally call me. I am one grateful customer. read more

Just a simple store some points a little disorganized and the whole time I was there outside the pharmacy there only seemed to be one person working on a Sunday. So took awhile to get help and kind of bummed that it seems to be a company policy to not let customers use the restroom. Have to go to another business to use a restroom and then come back to finish shopping. Not the first CVS I have been told there is no restroom for their customers. Actually my comment is about pharmacies not exactly this CVS; "why wait for prescribed drugs approximately an hour?" I think this "preparing your drugs" process is nothing but creating job. In many countries, upon giving prescription (with electronic prescriptioning even no need to have physically) pharmacies bring your drugs from the shelf instantly. read more

Slowest service I've seen. Long lines, slow cashiers, and then the infamous CVS card!! They ask every person in line whether they have a cvs card- no one does. So they ask you to sign up. More waiting of course. And this happens every single time! The result is: 30 second transaction turns into 4 minutes as customers fumble to recall their desired phone numbers and email addresses for harried clerks. When i call the pharmacy they usually place me on hold. They always place me on hold for more than 5 min (i hang up and call back at a later time). There is a gentleman who works there who is always rude and seems like he's a bad mood. I don't even know why i continue to go here. I need to look for a friendlier pharmacy. This CVS has the nicest staff. I read some bad reviews so felt the need to right about my great experience here. The front store staff is so friendly and helpful. I'm always greeted when I walk in. I use this pharmacy since it is not as busy as the one in Salinas. The staff is great. I get a text when my RX is ready and when I show up, it is always ready for me to pick up. I also love using the CVS app so I don't have to give my name and birthday. They just swipe the app on my phone and find my order. read more

We are from out of town and needed to get something - one thing as we headed out to meet a friend. Well . .. it was a LONG store visit due to issues customers were having in the line. I, too, have had problems that needed resolving at a store - but . . .it was taking REALLY long, and the only other line was getting longer and longer (the line I was in.) When I finally got to the cashier, who was very pleasant - she was a bit too chit-chatty with each customer considering the number of customers in line. Did not know that this CVS was so close to the Holiday Inn where I was staying. I went to Nob Hill in stead for some Advil. We stopped off at CVS on the way back from Hula's Grill to the hotel. It really has everything a tourist might need or forget on their trip. I found what I was looking for, paid fairly quickly and was able to get out of there with out any problems.
