Wow, amazingly terrible pharmacy. One extremely slow person working , super long line which hasn't moved in 10 min. Go elsewhere.

I've used CVS pharmacies in multiple states, and have often bemoaned the long lines and uneven service. This CVS has several knowledgeable pharmacists who deserve special mention for going the extra mile, including handling complex insurance issues with grace and staying past the end of their shift to finish helping a customer. The checkout staff appear to have been recently retrained to raise customer service standards, e.g., to greet customers when entering and always ask if you found everything you wanted. Most seem happy to work there. This CVS also has an unusually wide array of items, from oddball imported foods to outdoor furniture cushions and flower seeds to household goods (I recently scored a nonslip bathmat there after looking in vain at several stores). So, while I often wish I could just get all my prescriptions online, this CVS is almost pleasant to visit. read more

I took my infant in this morning for passport photos and as soon as the lady who takes the photos walked up and saw my stroller she said she wouldn't do it. She then walked away to get another associate. When she returned she told me that no one will take the photo because "it's too hard". She didn't even offer to try. I told her it really wasn't that hard and I'd do it myself if I wasn't in a rush. I then went to Costco, the photo technician had me put a white cloth in the car seat and lay the baby on top. That's it. For the sake of customer service, I think CVS associates should at least try to accommodate a passport photo request or there needs to be a firm policy in place. Apparently, a CVS up the street will take the extra step to help a customer. read more

Customer service really sucks sometimes but overall it is ok. There is a lot of bimbo workers there and they don't know a thing about customer service. Since Long's conversion to CVS, service in the pharmacy has become slower, less competent, the staff rude or indifferent (with two exceptions). Staff seems poorly trained, definitely not into "service with a smile." And I am not the only customer who is treated indifferently bordering on rude. Am I about to to switch pharmacies? Definitely! From the retail standpoint, the new CVS carries very little of what I used to buy when they were Long's. The lines at the check stands are generally much longer than would qualify as good customer service. The only reason I would recommend this CVS site is their wonderful retail staff. Gertie, Andre, Claudia and of course, marvelous Maya are the only reason to shop there. read more

I called the pharmacy today to help a senior citizen find out what medications that he needs are covered by Medicare Part D or not. He had been given a prescription by his physician which apparently was not covered and he did not have the money to pay out of pocket. I called the pharmacy to ask if they could help me understand which medications in a similar class would be covered to help him expedite the process with his physician. The young lady who answered stated, rather rudely, that they don't provide that information and the person would have to call their insurance directly to find that out. First of all, perhaps it is true that they don't keep this information anywhere, but I sincerely doubt that they have no idea which insurances cover what medications. They do this all day so you know that this has happened before. Second, if I had not been there to ultimately help this gentleman figure things out, he probably would not have gotten the essential medication he needed. This young woman could not have cared less about helping the patient. Third, even if it is store policy that you don't or can't provide this information, you could be nice about it and try to walk the patient through exactly what steps to take or she could have offered to call the physician to explain the coverage issue. She could not be bothered, was curt and rude and frankly, I'll never use this CVS for personal prescriptions based on that experience. I have to say that while shopping there for non-prescription items, I have heard a male pharmacy clerk be more friendly and helpful. The CVS is no good. Their pharmacy people are rude and we gave up using them after an incident some time back. Then as someone else mentioned in a review, they have issues with their system, where the rewards card points don't work when you put in your phone number. I had to find a cashier that knew there was a problem and they had to put in the coupon manually. But before they did, they were not going to give me the discount and the guy didn't even know there was a problem. The cashier even had an attitude but I didn't feel like complaining to her manager that day so I let it go. they need to get their stuff together... read more

why so much hate juice?! the store is large, carries pretty much anything you could be looking for and the employees are the 5 high school kids who aren't showing up to work wasted (or maybe they are and I can't tell). I'm not sure how much more you can expect from a CVS. The only knock I have is with that rewards card. Why does this Longs suck so much? It's not that their store is dirty or that the layout or products suck - all these are pretty typical. It's that the customer service in this place is mind-bogglingly bad. I think it must be a prerequisite to be ever so slightly retarded to work there. I also suspect that Longs policies share much of the blame. They don't exactly empower their employees. Once I went to buy alcohol (aged 35), and the cashier asked not only to see my license, but to 'swipe' it in the card reader. Having read Orwell in high school, I protested the big brother-esque intrusion on my modest beverage purchase and asked that perhaps they would "just look at my ID and note the date of birth". The blank and anxious deer in headlights stare back might have been the same had I asked them to assemble a stealth bomber from piece parts. Apparently the Longs Drugs organization believes that punching in a date of birth is beyond the pay grade of rank and file cahsiers. This, this would require a manager! Not just any manager, but one entrusted with the special override key. The sequence: cashier pages manager, manager pages key manager, key manager comes with ultimate override key to allow manual entry of date of birth. 10 minutes later I'm on my way. Way to empower your semi-retarded workforce Longs corporate executive in charge of cash register policy. You suck. No stars for you! OK..One. Because I have to. read more

This place is flat out awful. It's dirty. The employees could not be any more useless if they tried, which they certainly do not. And the pharmacy, well it manages to make you feel like a criminal for refilling prescriptions. Try Walgreens or the RX in a supermarket. read more

San Carlos CVS Pharmacy - Absolutely WONDERFUL! This was my fourth attempt in trying to locate a pharmacy that would have the pain medication we needed prior to a surgery and they had the drug in stock! This is exactly what you would expect from a pharmacy, yet it took stopping at four different pharmacies to find this common pain medication. It was early evening by the time I reached CVS, and they were able to fill the prescription and were extremely nice and accommodating. We had never used this pharmacy in the past and provided all the necessary required information (which didn't take much time). We came back an hour later and were helped immediately. The pharmacist was just as wonderful, absolutely great team!! read more

If I could post NO STARS I would. I have never encountered such inadequate pharmacy staff in my life. Prescriptions are NEVER EVER on time. There can be a line of 6-8 people and there will be the pharmacist and 3 to 4 staff and ONE person will be cashiering. Then after she spends 20 minutes with this person, she looks at you and says "I'll be right with you ma'am". No you won't, you will EVENTUALLY get to me when someone else takes the liberty and steps in and helps. These people DO NOT care about your time. Stay away! read more

I get drugs here. Lots of them . And they courtesy-call, and the drugs are always there when I get there. Staff is polite, and one of the techs, a younger gentleman, is cool and efficient. Lines are fairly short. The rest of the store is delightfully strange and overpriced. read more

Instead of them telling me the wait would be over half hour, I kept being told that it would be ready in a few minutes....over and over.... until well over a half hour had passed and I needed to leave..... very disappointed. I am so sad to see so many negative reviews on this pharmacy. I have ALWAYS had exceptional service from the pharmacy staff. Yes, at times they can be very, very busy and I'm always amazed that they take the time to address a line and say that they will be right with you. I've been to other pharmacies where you aren't acknowledged while you're waiting in line. Additionally, the front check out staff for the store have always been nice and friendly. I will continue to go here and am very happy they are my neighborhood pharmacy!! read more

I like the photo area. They have more than one computer for doing pictures and they can give you instant prints. It is a bigger section then most of the CVS pharmacy I've seen. Every time I been there people are very nice or helpful. read more

Make it impossible to transfer your prescription ! Have been trying for 3 weeks to get my prescription transferred to another pharmacy and they still haven't done it! I cannot get those stupid auto calls to refill to stop! Every time I call I'm on hold for 30 minutes or more! Once I escape their grasp, goodbye forever. read more

This place closed 2 hours early (at 10 instead of 12). No signage or anything about them being closed early. In addition all the lights were on as if someone was there in the store. If you can, go somewhere else. read more

Dont rely on them to have your photo ordeR even if you have a confir. # and receive an email saying your prints are ready. They will blame it on the system when ordering online. Maybe dont have a faulty system? To top it off, I had to wait 10 minutes for someone to help me in the photo dept. The checker had to call 3 times for someone to help me. read more

This pharmacy is poorly run with inadequate staff. The wait is longer because they cannot find prescriptions because the bins are spilling over. Their communication with each other is so poor that even when they are filling an expedited order for a sick patient waiting for their medication, they lose the prescription. The people who work their give the impression that they truly do not care. They are overworked. This is clearly an unprofessional pharmacy that should not be in the business of selling something as important as medication. read more

THIS PHARMACY IS THE WORST! They constantly make mistakes, have lost critical pain medications, call to say Rx ready & it's not, turns out they are out of stock or it needs a refill. Yesterday they called me to say it was ready, Rx not there when I arrived, had to call dr. ( why didn't they do this when I called it in 2 days prior?). Brought in 3 Rx, told that 1 Rx needed a call to dr, do I want to wait some more?.. Or be ready Tom AM. ... arrived next aft.after receiving phone call Rx ready. Rx from 3 days ago ready other 3 from day before not done waiting on? Could not find for 10 mins. Then still "have to call Dr." I wait, And wait, they call me, they are out of one med. do I want to go to another CVS or they get it .....tomorrow.???. I wait & wait for the other 2 Rx that they "are filling now". I wait. the nice young clerk checks me out. I ask are all the rx here? I get home. The original Rx from 4 days ago is not there. I cannot skip 2days in a row without serious complications, so I have to go back again to get that RX. My last visit to CVS San Carlos Ave was today and I wish I could fire the uncaring incompetent pharmacists!!!! I' m going back to my professional private pharmacy, Jefferson plaza in Redwood City, 20 years of doing business with them and not 1 mistake!! read more

My wife went in there 5/28/2012 to pick up her prescription which was ready during the afternoon and was told she had to come back in an hour as there had to be a pharmacist there before they could issue it! What! A drug store opened for business and unable to serve a client because they didn't have a plan for situations as stated. We were forced to use CVS after Walgreens no longer accepted our insurance provider. It has been a bad experience from day one. And they even have a banner out side welcoming people who have the old Walgreens provider! What a joke this place is. dc read more

I had a prescrition filled there and they automatically gave me generic when I wanted brand-name medication. My husband took it back to the pharmacy and told them I didn't want generic so they said they refilled the prescription again and told my husband it was the name-brand. When he got it home it still didn't look right to me but since the prescription bottle said it was the name brand and they charged us more for the new replacement I double checked with my husband and he said the pharmacist was sure it was the correct brand name medciation. I just went with it because I didn't want to be a jerk about it. When I went the following month to get the first monthly refill done I double checked on online to make sure they had provided me the brand-name medication and not the generic. I found out they had put the wrong medication in the bottle and in fact had charged me more for the same gerneric brand that I had sent back the first time. Luckily I didn't get sick over this mistake...it was basically the same medication only one was name-brand and one was generic, but if they make mistakes like this they might put a medication that could harm me in the wrong bottle also. I would not have perscriptions filled at this pharmacy again. A "little mistake" like this could end up being very serious. read more

Bad service at this pharmacy...had an argument with head pharmasist over my prescription which was ugly! Problems with them entering wrong information into my computer file, giving me generic when my file noted to give me Brand drug...just problems so switched to Safeway, which is farther away and not always open, but what am i do to, my insurance dropped 24 hour Walgreens. They are very nice here, but they suffer from the fact that when you make a vaccination appointment online they don't either guarantee to have the vaccine when you get there or to bother even telling you that they don't. Don't waste your time going to CVS to get vaccines. Go to a real clinic. read more

I am an extremely patient person, but this place just lost me as a customer. I give this a whole one star only because the pharmacist is easy on the eyes and the guy running the register was very nice, obviously overwhelmed, and doing his best to hold it all together. But a single star is otherwise extremely generous tonight. Placed an online order very early this morning for a script that's supposed to be in stock and available for same-day pick-up. Received an automated call shortly after Noon that I had a prescription ready for pick-up. After a long day at work I go in to pick it up and am told it's not ready, there's a half-hour wait time. So I left and came back 45 minutes later, stand in a long line to learn it's still not ready, have a seat in the make-shift waiting area. I'm called up to the counter and advised they don't have enough of the drug on hand to fill my order, would I be willing to take a partial order? Since I've been waiting and the pharmacy is out of my way I agree to the partial order and am asked to wait again in the make-shift waiting area. Almost 30 minutes later I'm called back to the counter, my order's ready......yah!......No. I'm given a 2-day supply to hold me over "until the shipment comes in, in 2 days, that's our policy." Um, that policy wasn't explained to me when I agreed to a partial order (and isn't how it worked before when I was given a one-month supply instead of three-month as ordered). I just gave up how much time for a total of FOUR pills when the original order was supposed to be for nearly 200 and was auto-dialed earlier in the day to say it was ready as ordered?!?!?! read more

This is a nice store in a great location but the service is horrible. There must be a half a dozen registers up front but it's rare if more than one or two are open. The pharmacy is worse. It is woefully understaffed. There is always a line and don't expect to have your Rx ready when they say. Come on CVS... put some customer service in what could be a nice store! read more

The night shift manager Sean just profiled, accused and humiliated my 19 year old daughter who is half Asian and half black in front of her friends and other customers for simply returning a make up item with receipts that was paid for w/ her debit card. We go to this CVS a lot and their pharmacy is also inconsistent w/ their service. We will be filing a complaint not just to the Branch manager but the corporate office as well. read more

The only thing about this CVS that bothers me is some of the pharmacy staff. Ryan is the BEST person in the pharmacy as far as I am concerned and the worst one I believe is Taryn ( I think that is what her name is) I can t believe how she treats people. How come every time I go in there and ask for them to key in my Extra care card number they act as if they are but are not? Instead they use courtesy number and I am left without my rewards. I admit, I lost my card but come on, give me my points. I didn't realize it until recently and spoke to the cashier who did it. She said my phone number didn't show up and instead of telling me, decided not to. I told her she couldn't do this and asked for management...guess what, she's management.
