I have been using this CVS pharmacy since the Rite Aid on Garnet Ave. closed some months ago. A larger than acceptable majority of the staff and pharmacists at CVS there are rude and totally unfeeling as compared to the professionally and courteously superior staff and pharmacists that worked at the Rite Aid on Garnet. There are exceptions to the "bad apples" at CVS but they are few in number. There is one short Asian male pharmacist who seems to consider himself the Czar of the Pharmacy and CURES (the state medication data base). He is confrontational, intrusive, and suspicious of the intentions of all the customers that come to the pharmacy. He is also almost always in error in his assumptions about pharmacy customers' intent and honesty. One feels that they are on trial when dealing with him. I have said and I have also heard others tell him that they didn't appreciate his tone of voice he used with them. One African American male low-level clerk with a severely unkempt appearance, for no founded legal or "best practices," reasons singlehandedly banned me from the store, without having the authority to do so. He did so due to his simple dislike of me and my personality characteristics and benign compulsive behavior. It is true, but not his business to aware of my OCD. I did nothing wrong that would have justified his punitive attitude. His actions are tantamount to refusing medical service without justifiable reason. He also violated medical ethics by not referring me to an alternative provider. It is illegal, medical malpractice, and strongly appeared to be racially discriminatory (I am caucasian). It also discriminates against me due to my advanced age and handicapped status. Additionally, the way he spoke to me was harassing, which begs the question of whether he violated state and national discriminatory laws protecting the elderly and handicapped. I shall be consulting with an attorney, the AARP, and state and federal agencies for more guidance. Needless to say, as a retired healthcare professional, I find the way I was treated to be repugnant and absolutely do not recommend this business for any drug store or "what not" purchases. This leads me to say, in a lighter note, that Granny from the Beverly Hill Billies would have most likely provided superior service to the pharmaceutical care you will receive at CVS on Garnet in the Von's parking lot. Avoid them at all costs. Their Yelp rating of 2.5 out of 5 is monumentally too generous for the service they provide. read more

When I entered the store there was this "greeter" telling everyone how this CVS was the best in the world. I guess he had nothing better to do as there were.a bank of self service check out machines. Red flag right there. They are trying to save money by cutting down on employees and making the customers do their work. I asked for someone to help me in the beauty section as I was looking for La Roche Posay and I know they keep it locked. He said that person had gone home. I asked if there was anyone else and he said no, maybe the manager and he would call them. But I saw him go over to a register and help a line of people. I waited some more. Eventually I saw two employees, a young man and an older women come to the front. The woman went to man another register. I waited some more. Finally the greeter dude came over to me and said that he didn't know where the manager was. I told him then this isn't the best CVS in the whole world is it? He said it was because I was there. Hmmph. I told him, then not any more because I was leaving. He didn't seem to give a S* calling after me to have a wonderful day. They just lost $50 in business as I went up the hill to Clairemont and the CVS on Balboa and dropped $50 on La Roche. Their beauty person was working that afternoon and not only did she help me with that and a few other things, but she also gave me a complimentary bag of trial sizes. I'll be going back to Balboa. *That* is the best CVS in the world. I'll be avoiding the Garnet Ave location like the plague. Too bad, so sad. Maybe if they actually offered service to their customers they wouldn't need to replace their employees with machines to cut costs. read more

Not a bad store. Many items we're on sale, several of which were on my shopping list. The associates were friendly and helpful. It was clean bright and we'll lit. The shelves well well stocked.They had everything on my shopping list. Most of the prices while not the lowest in town we're reasonable. The parking lot, which it shared with neighboring stores was fairly large. They had a decent sellection of first aid items. It was worth the extra money I paid here to save time and gas, instead of going to the nearest Walmart. I was momentarily confused as to how to get in line, but figured it out all by myself. The customer in line ahead of me got a good laugh about it. Over all a pleasent experience. I'd go again if I'm in the area and don't feel like driving to Walmart. read more

I had a tramatic experience with the staff at this location. I have been a loyal customer to this store since I moved to Pacific Beach back in 2011. The attitude of this pharmacy is very unprofessional and combative. Yesterday, I went in to pick up my prescription and a new cashier named Laura had very bad english. She had to write down the spelling of my last, first name and DOB which probably against the law or company policy. I was very patient and friendly and asked for a bag. Laura said it was .10 cents and I didn't have any cash on me and there was no copay. I told her I have never been charged for a bag ever and to ask the pharmacist direclty behind her for an exception. He said okay, but it's California state law to charge .10 cents per bag. Then, out of no where, an employee who was behind the counter near the drop off window starting yelling loudly accross the room - " I give out free bags as a courtesy, I don't have too" as she proceeds to walk over and roll her head and continues to yell about the fact that it's California state law to charge .10 cents for bag. All I said was that I have never been charged for a bag ever. She then goes on to write her name down on a piece of paper and tells me here is her name if you have a problem with it. Unfortunetely, I have dealt with Flordeliza on a complaint I filed last year against this pharmacy with the California Board of Health and California Attorney General about the attitude of the staff here when they tried to refuse me service because they didn't like the tone of my voice. I was retaliated against yesterday by Flordeliza because she remembers me from that incident. She doesn't like me so she is basically saying she will charge me .10 cents for a bag because she doesn't like me, but will not charge other customers at her own discrection. I'm absolutely done with this pharmacy and will be reporting to the authoirites about the retaliation. The attitude here is the worst, they will ruin your entire day. I will never step foot in this store again. Twice now 2 women employees have acted like they want to jump over the counter and fight me. Yelling and shaking heads, making a scene is so unprofessional and it's sad that they feel entitleted to treat customers this way because they think they can. I'm not a zombie coming into pick up my drugs. I deserve and expect customer service! read more

I want to personally flat tire anyone who is rating this CVS poorly. Absolutely immaculate vibes here. This is the first place i want to go to start my weekend. I needed the glass door to an item unlocked and I had to ask 4 different employees. It was very slow response and disregarding. The female cosmetic employee who's older w/big false eyelashes, totally ignored me as I was waiting for her to stop talking chatting w/ a fellow employee. I walked away and asked another employee (the 4th person by now) and she went ahead to open it. This was a total of 20 minutes vs what would of taken 5-10 total. Tell your pharmacists to answer their phone. I waited on hold for 30 minutes and I know VERY WELL that they could take ten seconds to answer the phone. Your automated voice did nothing to help me and after I entered my RX number it just sent me straight to talk to the pharmacy. I waited on hold for 30 minutes, not exaggerating. My doctor called in a prescription yesterday morning and i need this prescription for urgent health reasons and I can't get a reason why it's not ready. Would've loved to talk to a pharmacist and if there's a legit reason, I understand. But couldn't get to that point. Drove to pharmacy to ask in person and there was NO ONE IN LINE AT THE PHARMACY. What are your pharmacists doing? I'm switching my medications to a different pharmacy ASAP, because I can't risk not getting my medications because your employees are too lazy to answer a phone. I have NEVER had such horrible service at a pharmacy in my life! As a new pharmacy customer, I can guarantee my family will never do business here again. The pharmacist couldn't manage to look at me, much less speak to me, as she carried my items to a different register when I told her we had never used this pharmacy before. The man at the second register also couldn't be bothered to look at me or even inform me that he was in the middle of helping another customer until I had waited an uncomfortable amount of time standing in front of him and finally asked a question. There is no way ANYONE is ever so busy that they can't look their customer in the eye and talk to them like a human being. There is a new physician at the minute clinic that will do anything in her power to avoid giving you a prescription when you really need it - been there for a kidney infection and another instance requiring antibiotics. Answered many of the same irrelevant questions asked by multiple people before being told I had to go somewhere else (while in a ton of pain) for the kidney. The other instance I also had to go to another doctor for correct assistance. Received expensive bills for both even though nothing was accomplished. Don't go here if you're feeling sick. Just popped into CVS for a quick errand run. Claudia helped me and unlocked the eyelash case without me even having to ask an employee for assistance. She was so so sweet, kind and attentive. She asked me if I'd like to have a free piercing done- you just need to pay for the jewelry. I ended up getting two piercings done by Claudia and I've never had, such a good experience, either at a CVS or getting a piercing. I have over 10 piercings and Claudia is the best! If there were negative stars I would choose that option. I am a CVS customer out of convenience...location and store hours. However I am not a satisfied customer! I would rather get lower prices continually rather than the CVS Caremark offers that are printed after purchase for a future purchase. Most are BOGO offers or for items I don't buy. It sickens me to think of forests of trees cut down to support the amount of paper produced for CVS. The other gimmick CVS uses is the Carefree pass which you sign up for. Not worth the expense! I'm looking into other pharmacy and shopping options in my area though it may be less convenient. Anyone else feel this way? read more
