I paid this gentleman last year. He said he had all of the equipment, parts ordered etc for my home. I felt bad and gave him an advance since the delay was my fault with him putting everything in. Fast forward months later and also in between sending him several clients, he dissapears for 2 months and on several occasions makes no attempt to get the work done. My electrician and my plumber and finisher were all delayed due to him taking all the time in the world. He Essentially never ordered and spent the money. Rates for me to refi have gone significantly up since that time and I'm expecting twins and my stress levels have gone up due to me having to chase this man for completion of work. In short: If you don't mind paying the price for unsubstantiated work then Craig is probably the place to go. He's very responsive to the point of harassing you if you do not adhere to his timeline despite his office taking days, weeks, months to respond to requests. Issues with CW HVAC: 1. As far as I can tell Craig at CW HVAC is unlicensed by the State of Maryland to engage in HVAC. * I came to this conclusion because both Craig and his attorney have refused to respond to my inquiry about Craig's license number or his last name * I searched all W last names (which is my best guess given the company name) in the MD license database for anyone with the first name Craig to no avail * If you look @ the photo of Craig's work van it says he is in fact licensed in MD, but MD statutes require that licensed members also display their license number on the vehicle See: Maryland Code, Business Regulation §9A-401 2. Craig's office took over a month to send me an invoice for the completed work * Work completed: Sept 15, 2016 * Craig demanded payment: Oct 5, 2016 - to which I responded that I had not received a proposal or an invoice to date * Invoice sent: Oct 26, 2016 3. When that invoice was sent Craig insisted it had been previously sent and accused me of not wanting to settle my debts * I told Craig I wanted to have the work reviewed before paying (because I'm out of state from where the work was done) * BUT that if he could prove to me the invoice was sent immediately at the completion of the work, as he insisted, then I would pay immediately without review of the work because I would consider that my error and not his 4. Craig's invoice just had a dollar figure and did not break down what parts were replaced (even though he said numerous parts) and did not even separate costs of parts vs. labor * On Oct 27, 2016 I requested information on what was wrong with the original system necessitating replacement and a breakdown of costs associated with the job * I told him I was having a hard time finding someone that could review the work without an appropriate breakdown of what went into the job * Craig further accused me of not paying and even threatened to tell my tenants what a dishonest person I was * I told Craig his defensive nature made me uncomfortable paying despite his threats because now I was uncertain as to whether the charges I was receiving are justifiable or not 5. On November 3, 2016 - I contacted the office to let them know I had still not received a response to my request * Craig called my personal cell 3x that morning demanding payment 6. November 4, 2016 Craig sent a breakdown of the work, but did not assign dollar amounts to it 7. November 5, 2016 Craig's assistant called my cell numerous times demanding payment, Craig contacted me and hurled more accusations my way, continued communicating with my tenant despite me asking him not too, and would call and text me numerous times with more accusations despite me asking him to only communicate with me by email considering the nature of his treatment toward me 8. November 7, 2016 Craig again contacted me saying that because I didn't pay immediately after he sent a break down that I am (insert more insults to my character including but not limited to rude, disrespectful, and dishonest) 9. Craig has still been unwilling to break down the costs to me and I cannot get confirmation that the job he did was necessary or that the expenses are justifiable - from what I've been able to gather his expenses are on the high end of what a replacement would cost for any home and I have a tiny 3 bedroom townhouse. 10. In February I was finally contacted by Craig's attorney, Michael Smith, at Smith, Graham & Crump, LLC who deserves his own review because he attempted to contact me at a property he knew was a rental property with deadlines, his letter had errors that made me think it may be fake, and has not responded to phone calls and voicemails I have been leaving him in response to his request for payment. Including his refusal to provide Craig's last name or license number in order for me to file an appropriate complaint. read more

Initially we were really pleased with how prompt mr Williams and his crew were in installing our new unit in July. Came to discover after 5/6 months that it was installed without a filter which causes God knows how much damage to the motor. Williams sent someone over several weeks ago to follow up but the issue has still not been addressed. I have been doing corporate facilities management work for years and this was the worst contractor I have ever worked with. He was quick to the site to get me a quote and after I paid a $5,500 down payment for a job he became unresponsive. Days would go by before I would hear from him and it was nothing but excuses. I should have known and never moved forward but stuck with him anyway. It took over 45 days to complete 4 hours worth of work. After the job was finally complete, he demanded the balance be paid right away. After telling him we will pay after 15 days, like his proposal stated, he threatened legal action and charged my credit card for thousands of dollars without my permission. He also charged my credit card for almost $1,000 more than the quoted price. Please do yourself a favor and never give this guy any of your business. read more

This placejust saved my life! Okay a slight exaggeration, but if you know me for 10 minutes you know I love a touch of "frost" in the house in the summer. So, when my upstairs (yes upstairs where the heat makes you want to get saved) a/c went out 2 days ago I was in a pickle. Good work, but not great communication. Talked with Craig to make an appointment for our annual AC inspection. He didn't get back to me for a couple days, until I texted him. The technician was very nice and professional, but recommended I make a new appointment to have the coils cleaned. I texted Craig: rather than make an appointment, he asked if I would consider an annual contract to have our AC and furnace inspected & cleaned. He never got back to me when I responded. I am saddened to read the negative reviews. Either I got lucky or this guy has really fallen off in regards to service. However, a few weeks ago, a blown fuse in my unit caused the system to blow out hot air on a really hot day. Craig came out to fix it the next day, free of charge. I haven't had any issues since. Also, my unit is working a whole lot better than the last one did. My heat is currently set to 72 and I'm not freezing like last year. My electric bill is making me smile as well. If I am ever in need of services again, I CW is my first choice, but I tread carefully based on the negative reviews I am seeing here. read more

I first contacted CW HVAC on May 30, 2016 because my AC was not functioning properly. Although is was a holiday, they came out right away and got us cool. Since then I've signed up on an annual contract. Signing the contract has been one of the best decisions I've made since being a homeowner for the last 15 years. The contract has allowed me to have my coils cleaned and my thermostat replace at a very reasonable price. I just had my thermostat replaced yesterday and again the service was quick and awesome. So far it has been a pleasure working with Craig, Robert and Tamika. They have always been very knowledgeable, polite and professional. Had a TERRIBLE experience with C&W! Craig is completely unprofessional and dishonest. This is not an established business and I hope more honest reviewers will post here. I called C&W shortly before a snow storm in January. Craig said that he was sending a technician to my rental property and would need my credit card number up front. I wasn't completely comfortable but I was desperate since the snow was coming. Craig went by the property himself (I'm pretty sure he's only pretending to have other technicians) and said he would come back the next day to change the control board. Craig returned the next day, took three minutes to restore the heat, and left without leaving any documents or having my tenants sign off. He later charged my card for a lenghthy job. To change a control board takes 1 - 3 hours so I'm close to positive thats not what he did in under three minutes. Since he visited my property, he has refused to send me a receipt or invoice for any of the charges. I literally have nothing on record that says what he did or what he charged me for. Just a big credit card bill. In addition to not providing me with any documents, he also sent me some text messages and even yelled at me on the phone like a crazy person. Please dont make the mistake I did. Im a little suspicious of the positive reviews especially being that many were left by people with just 1 to 3 yelp reviews. read more

READ THIS BEFORE WASTING YOUR TIME & MONEY CALLING THEM: I rely on Yelp when I need a service. I did so when my A/C gave out on Memorial Day weekend. Because CW Heating had such a great Yelp rating, I went with them. BIG MISTAKE. In case you don't want to read the entire story, I'll sum it up in a few quick words: CALCULATED LIES. OVERCHARGED. UNORGANIZED. A year ago, when my HVAC (2 years old) was under homeowners warranty, I had to have refrigerant put in (ie. there must've been a leak), that had nothing to do with CW. Fast forward to Memorial Day this year, our A/C stopped working. I called around and CW said they could come that day because Craig was in the area already. He came, said that I needed parts ordered and it would be a 5 hour job because opening up the outside unit entailed a whole lot of technical things. I asked him to call me back and let me know how much and when it could be done because we really wanted it done ASAP. I paid him the service fee by check, I believe it was $100 or close to it. He said he would have to check with the "service manager" about whether they could do the job without replacing the filter dryer to save me some money, or not. He never calls the next day when he says he's going to, so I call him repeatedly. He answers and says its going to be $800 for the job and that it can't be done until Tuesday because it was MDW and the part had to be ordered. I ask if we have to do the filter dryer and he says if we don't, it'll be $550, but he couldn't answer what was being done to make the price that high. He then has the "service manager" call me (who later turns out to be their DISPATCHER) to explain what he can't explain re: the work and cost. She too, no surprisingly, cannot explain any of that to me. At this point, I'm feeling extreme shade and uneasiness with this company, but I've already paid them $100 to come out and I don't want to call someone else and have to wait on their wait list (because it was MDW and blazing hot) and have to pay someone else a service call fee. So I stick with them until Tuesday when the part is coming. Tuesday morning appointment was for 9am. I get a call at 8:45a that this other guy is on his way. I think to myself, "fabulous, this is looking up". He gets there and says, "what can I do for you today?" I say, "don't you have the part?" he says, "what part? I clearly need to make a phone call." He comes back in and explains that the woman I spoke to that Craig dubbed the "service manager" is actually the dispatcher. That no one told him what he was there to do that day. That there was no part. That he told them he couldn't stay more than 1-2 hrs because he was leaving the country and needed to be somewhere. He profusely apologized, was genuinely pained and kept saying, "I've never left a customer like this." And he left. I do not blame him at all. That was ALL BEFORE 9AM. They didn't call me from the office until 3PM!!! And shockingly, as if this story could get any worse, they DIDN'T even apologize. They just wanted "the story on what was said from the tech that came that morning". Needless to say, I cancelled the check from the initial service call because Craig clearly lied. He was there for all of 10 minutes, I should've known he didn't diagnose ANYTHING. And then the entire company proceeded to lie for the next 5 full hot-as-hell days. Turns out, after hiring someone who is actually reputable, THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE OUTSIDE UNIT. The leak was INSIDE. They were going to take $800 and fix NOTHING. I am absolutely disgusted that I almost trusted this company and lost $800 that I didn't have, to have the same problem in a few months again. If you hire them, buyer beware!!!! I will be contacting BBB and Angie's List as well (update: can't do Angie's list because they aren't on there- which is a sign in and of itself). I'm writing this review with hesitation because I've had two dealings with CW Heating & AC. The first contact was on 1-5-16; to have my furnace serviced. That services call was great Craig came cleaned a coil within 10 minutes he was done $89. I've had my system for years and knew what this issue was, I've had this coil cleaned at least once a year for several years. My issue with this company was the most recent service call that I initiated on 6-8-2016, I called spoke to Craig told him the issue I needed taken care of bathroom sink was clogged, tub draining slow, the toilet that I DIY repaired wouldn't stop running and the A/C condensation tube was broke and recoiled into the house. He asked that I text him my issues and his assistant would call that same day to schedule for the next day Thursday 6/9. I advised that I needed an early appointment. I didn't get a call that day. Craig call on 6/9 at 10 AM to inquire if I'd be home between 4 & 6. That didn't work for me; he again advised that his assistant would call and schedule. I received a call at 3:30 that day and an appointment was scheduled for the next day Fri. 6/10 at 7AM (no window). At 8AM Gilbert arrived, no courtesy call to advise of the late arrival. Gilbert first looked at the toilet, he made an adjustment in the inner tank that took 5 minutes, I was glad it was fixed. He started working on the sink and pulled out this "clog stick" that you stick into the top of the drain. Of course that didn't work. He then took the plastic pipe off from the bottom and stuck the"clog stick" in that way. After he realized that wouldn't work he advised that he needed a bigger 25ft snake. OK, no problem. The problem was he didn't have it with him. SERIOUSLY!!! He advised that he would have to come back the next day Saturday 6/11. He advised he would be at my house by 2PM. He arrived after 4 (he did call to advise he would be late). Gilbert arrived with a hand powered snake; that didn't work either. This visit was a total of 30 minutes and another wasted day for me. Gilbert called Craig and they advised that they would buy another snake a heavy duty on and would come again on NOW Sunday at 10 AM. Gilbert arrived at 11AM. This time the new snake worked and the sink and tube were draining fine this took approximately 30 minutes. The INVOICE, Gilbert and I sat at the table while he wrote up the invoice and texted Craig for the cost detail. Mind you this simple task for a plumbing company took a total of FOUR DAYS!!! CW wanted to charge me $645.00 for probably two hours total of work. $400.00 for Labor (REALLY!!) and $150.00 for materials. The only materials that was replaced was ONE plastic U-shaped pipe under the sink (surely less than $10 at your local hardware store) and $95 for a diagnostic. They didn't diagnosis anything. I texted a complete list of what the issue was. I did the diagnosing. I was livid and Gilbert asked if I wanted to speak to Craig. Of course I did. This is thievery. I spoke to Craig he agreed to take the cost of the materials off. Like he was doing me a favor. $150.00 for ONE plastic pipe.I was still upset and Craig kept asking me what price I felt comfortable in paying; For me it wasn't about what I was comfortable in paying I wasn't expecting to be robbed in my own home. I expected to be charged fairly for the work that was completed during the 4 DAY inconvenience (again a simple task of snaking a tub, snaking a sink and stopping a toilet from running). So in essence this company charged me $200.00 per hour for labor ($400 total) and $95.00 just because. However the work was completed at a 4 DAY inconvenience I did receive a text from Craig on Sunday after noon advising that the work completed in my bathroom is normally way more than $400 his prices are below market value, He also advised if I wasn't please with the work he would've done it for free and still pay his guy. He then advised that CW would fix anything with the repaired items free of charge within 90 days. (the condensation tube wasn't fixed; Craig did pull it out from the house but was to have additional tubing added, I did this myself) . The lesson in this review is to always ask for an estimate FIRST!! I've lived in my neighborhood for 16 years; and my neighbors and I share info. I will not be recommending CW to anyone, not because of the quality work performed, but because the price gauging. CW came through...twice! My AC had gone out after returning from a trip and the company that i have a service agreement with could not get me until 4 days later. I searched Yelp and started calling. CW was the second number i called and he was able to come the same day. The part to be replaced was pricey, but i was given a discount. Service was performed efficiently and professionally. It is so much negative that I could say about the service but I will not go into a lot detail. I am just glad to be alive after telling the technician that was at our home that I smelled gas after the installation of our furnace and hot water tank for home and to tell me he didn't smell anything and he didn't even attempt to use a detector. I called Washington Gas and they came out and their gas detector went crazy in two areas and immediately cut our gas off and stated to me that it was good that I called when I did because if I didn't it would have been a terrible situation if someone lit a match in our home. Don't use this company. We don't trust them in our home and we use the warranty with someone else. read more

With such high online reviews for this company and wanting to support small black businesses, I decided to give CWHVAC some of my business. My heat was out 11/8/2016. Called Craig at CWHAC for my maitenance checck. He finally arrives, 2 hours later than scheduled, apologizes for bad communication and lateness. He checks my furnace, and with in less than 10 minutes, says "my heat exchange is cracked and I need a new furnace, and I'll also need a new inducer blower,(actual problem). It will take (4) hours of labor and a total cost of $2,000. He shines a flashlight on the imaginary crack, and says my furnace is leaking C02 and needs to be replaced immediately! He can have one for me tomorrow. Not once did he check the Co2 levels in the furnace, or use a pinhole camera to find the, supposed crack in the heat exchange. Little did he know, I spent the last four days researching online, everything a home owner needs to know about your HVAC, and HVAC scams (intentionally selling someone something they don't need). I also had my brother, a New York Firefighter, with 15 years of building maintenance experience, video diagnose the problem in less than two minutes. He also recommended a very honest, respectable and thorough professional repairman in the DMV area. He resolved the issue in 30 minutes, for only $400. He also spent another 45 mins explaining, in detail how my entire system works and how to properly maintain my system. I gave a $50 tip. Contact me in you'd like his info. He's works out of Bowie. I had signed up for their maintenance plan after having great service last winter. The tech who came later that spring/early summer to inspect the AC was professional and seemed to do a thorough job. However, upon leaving he indicated the coolant in the AC unit was low but he didn't have with him to fill it. He didn't make it seem like it was a major issue and left. About 2 weeks later my AC was blowing out warm air on a over 90 degree day. I called CW later in the afternoon hoping someone could come out the following day. After a day of phone tag with no appointment and sweltering heat I called another company who came out the same day and problem fixed. read more

I saw the 5 star reviews and was skeptical. I called on a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend and needed someone to come fix my A/C as soon as possible due to the high heat outside. The aging boiler in my new house chose the coldest week of 2016 to fail. Unfamiliar with gas hot water heat, I was alarmed when Mr. Williams showed me that not only was the unit failing, it actually was a hazard! His quick response not only protected my safety, but he also immediately started the replacement and repair process. Because the previous owner had done minimal maintenance, the replacement process was complicated and long, as the outside temperature continued to drop. Mr. Williams made sure the work was done to my satisfaction. He saved me and my property from potential harm, both from the malfunctioning unit and the near-zero temperatures. I highly recommend CW Heating & Air Conditioning. My furnace went out during the coldest winter storms.I didn't know what i was going to do. But then, I called Craig and he came out the same day to assess the issues with my furnace. He explained in detail what the issues were with my furnace and showed me the codes that were going off due to the damage of the furnace. He explain why my furnace was shutting down and gave me precautionary steps for maintenance of the furnace so this wouldn't happen again.
