The place was rather small, but they have a more diverse selection compared other bigger places. Still, the lack of space limits them from having a multitude of options on gears. They have good deals on items on sale and you get to save more money if you if you avail of the said deals. read more

I went here because I am about to take the class for the M1 license. I wanted to purchase a helmet, boots, jacket, etc. Pretty much had in my mind I needed to invest at least $500 into the equipment for right now. I went into the store and it took 45 minutes to find someone to help me. They were not that busy (maybe 4 other customers) at the time. Employees were more interested in breaks, eating wings and BSing with each other. Fine whatever. I needed information. When I finally got the attention of one of the employees, and explaining my situation, I said the helmet needed to be DOT and instead of letting me finish saying (I would like it to be Snell approved and full face) he laughed and said all of these are DOT approved and walked away. After an hour on my own, I just left. Screw this place and the attitude. Like I said I knew I needed to spend at least $500 on equipment. My budget was an easy $750 because if anything, I wanted to spend more on the helmet than anything else. They completely lost my business and I did state to the class not to shop here. Because all of us newbies in the class (20 of us) needed equipment. I have been to Beach Moto and received much better service. Sadly - this place has a bit of inventory but I will not spend my money with people who don't care to provide customer service. Stay far away read more

The folks at this store location rock. Brian is awesome. Everyone is very upbeat, helpful and friendly. It has a neighborhood feel to it and the folks there are quite knowledgeable, especially on the gear and helmets. They run regular bike nights and raffles. Cycle gear is also one of the only operations where a person can purchase a helmet and return it within 7 days, if for some reason it wasn't what they thought it would be or how it would fit. My review starts in the store and ends online. The store did not have the helmet in stock that their website showed, a Diesel 3/4 helmet. I went to cyclegear.com to see if I could order it. They had it "IN STOCK" which actually meant that they could get it from somewhere - they didn't physically even have one in a warehouse. I waited 3 days with no message and my order status still didn't say "shipped." It would have been nice to receive a message that my helmet was not ACTUALLY in stock. They had ended up ordering it from the manufacturer (AVG) so my shipment is delayed. I ordered an "in stock" helmet because I'm waiting for it to be able to use my transportation (motorcycle). This was disappointing and when I asked if I could pay for faster shipping methods, there were no options. I like cycle gear, but I'm going to be honest - this was super crappy customer service. I can't believe I didn't even get a notification. I'm going to find a better site to order through from now on. read more

Disappointed to say the least. Purchased a Shorai battery at the Cycle Gear location in Schaumburg, IL in October. (first off...don't buy Shorai batteries) I was told that they prorate the batteries up to a year. I stopped into the Cycle Gear store today in Culver City, now that I'm living out here because I needed them to prorate my battery as it no longer holds a charge. The manager seemed to be helpful and had high hopes at first until this process was dragged out. He called the Schaumburg store, which I understood. The Schaumburg store says that they have no record of my purchase of the Shorai battery. So now the manager tells me this and say's there's nothing they can do. So you're telling me that I bought a $200 battery - which is suppose to be prorated...which no longer works... and now it's my fault that your system doesn't have my information? Wrong. It's not my problem. Unfortunately there's no customer lifetime value with Cycle Gear and I won't be shopping there any longer. I've spent thousands on race gear and accessories from them in the past. Will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Cycle Gear in Culver City is a small but great motorcycle shop. Small staff but they attend as soon as possible without neglecting their multiple duties. Matt is friendly, understanding & helpful & shares his knowledge very well. Good inventory & reasonable prices & good sales. They give you a 15% off when you show your CMSP card! Not much in the chick section but can't expect much on that regardless. Their customer service is great & returns are honestly hassle-free ! read more

This place is great! They had a big selection of all the gear I was looking for. My first time there, Chris helped me find a disc lock, riding shoes and some discounted armored gloves. He was a very nice guy, chatted with me for a while during the transaction. I went back to buy a helmet a week later, and got home only to decide it didn't fit exactly right. So, I went back today to take advantage of their 7 day exchange policy on helmets. Other gear shops have a no refund policy; cycle gear is really leading the pack in that department. The store manager was more than accommodating and made a point to ensure that I was satisfied. I will definitely be shopping there again. read more

Wow! ! came on their bike night Friday to check out the store. Glad to see they opened one near my house I usually would have to go to Lomita kind of pain to get there but they carry my favorite oil MOTOREX. The customer service is fricken awesome!! These guys really know how to make you spend money haha. All jokes aside - the guys at cycle gear helped me tremendously this morning. Rode my grom down in hopes of getting new gloves. Got some great dainese gloves that I thought were too big until I was shown how to fit them in store. Thankfully I didn't buy the wrong size gloves like an idiot. I asked about getting a new tinted visor - they had it in stock and were more than happy to fit it on my helmet for me since I'm clearly dumb and wouldn't have been able to handle it myself more than likely. Lastly, I wAs looking into a shift lever protector for my shoes under the assumption it'd help with the comfort of shifting. I learned today that all the little thing I was gonna buy on amazon would have done was keep my shoe clean. So instead I got some new moto shoes specific for riding. Ozzy, Thomas (?), and the other guy working all were a great help. I even ended up ordering tires on my way out.... definitely the go to for anything moto. read more

He had great helmet recommendations for various price points. As soon as I tried on the Shoei Qwest I knew it was the helmet for me. I actually came into this store 3 times before I bought a helmet. You can even look at my reviews, or lack thereof; I only have one other review on my repertoire. Is matt the manager? If not, he far exceeded the qualifications. Amazing service, even checked out my bike for a simple question I had, even though I didnt even buy anything yet or seemed like I planned to. When I had a complication with my purchase, he took care of it so smoothly and made sure everything was fit to my circumstance. Amazing guy, give this man a fat raise, or at least a round. If I dont hear this man hasn't gotten a beer popped and handed to him by the higher ups, I plan on reflecting my opinion on the matter in this soon-to-be one star review. I really cant say enough about my experience here recently, but in short: They really took the time to educate me on the different products and manufacturers. They really took the time to look and look and look until we found the right fit. They were were kind, well-spoken, articulate, and above all knowledgeable. I was just at this store 10 minutes ago and the execellent customer service they gave me made me want to write this review as soon as I got home. Before I went to the store, I called them and got Chad. I told him I bought a Bilt Roadster Retro helmet about 3 years ago at another branch, I don't have the receipt anymore but I'd like to see how to go about putting in a warranty claim as Bilt has 5 year warranty on the helmet. The rubber band that goes around the bottom of the helmet is coming off. Chad told me to come by the store and he would help me out. So I rode to the store and Chad looked at my helmet. He then reached up for the same exact helmet on the shelf, handed it to me and asked me to try it on. I did and he said it's all mine. I said, "that's it?" Chad said yes. Wow! What a service! A brand new helmet with the tags and all! I highly recommend Cycle Gear! They really stand by their products. And the painless replacement process was unbelievable!
