Clean, big store full of stock. They carry everything from helmets and gloves to vests and bike paraphernalia. I came here several times a few years back with a friend who rides sports bikes. I always accompanied him, as I did last week. After browsing through the racks, I came back and bought gloves before I took the riding course to get my M class license. This 2-star rating is due to poor customer service. I went to Cycle Gear in search of motorcycle gloves for my upcoming motorcycle training class. I was greeted by a young woman employee. Upon disclosing the fact that I currently do not ride or own a motorcycle, I was met with comments that portrayed belittlement. I was treated as if I was not a part of an exclusive club. My dad has ridden Harley's for over 30 years, so I am in tune with motorcycle culture. Furthermore, she was not helpful. She essentially showed me where the gloves were and then disappeared, without showing me any deals or describing much else. After about 20 minutes of browsing and trying on gloves with no help, I left out of frustration. If the quality of customer service was even mediocre, I would have purchased gloves that day. But I purchased gloves on Amazon instead. I'd rather take the risk of gloves not fitting, then return to a Cycle Gear store. read more

The experience I had there was pretty good. I ordered my first helmet and the lady at the counter helped me pick out the right size. It was kinda weird having her stuff her hand at the back of the helmet, but hey, it worked. I called to confirm if my helmet arrived and had no problems. When I went in to pick it up, the guy at the counter helped me by putting on the breath shield. All in all pretty painless. The prices are not that low compared to some online stores or other local shops, but if they have the part and you really need it, there ya go. For me, it's also pretty far so I would rather support shops closer to where I live. read more

Excellent Customer service. When I walked in the store I was greeted immediately by Amanda. She asked if I needed any help so I told her, "I have a problem with a helmet I bought at this Cycle Gear over a year ago." She said to bring it in so she can check it out. I did bring it in the following week. She again greeted me immediately and remembered me even called me by my name. I showed her the helmet and she took pictures so she could ask corporate what they could possibly do. She took my info and a couple days later she calls me and tells me they'd replace my helmet free of charge. Cycle Gear backs up their products and their customer service is amazing. They didn't have (and apparently no longer stock) an oil filter for one of the best selling bikes of all time and still a current model in the Kawasaki lineup. Of course they can order it for you, but isn't the whole point of having a local brick and mortar bike shop the convenience of being able to pick up that last minute item when you need it right now? An item that should be stocked in multiples, but is no longer stocked AT ALL? Why should I take my chances again with this store when I can order the same item at a third of the price online? Answer: I won't, and I'll just do a better job of planning ahead next time. I wish the local physical stores the best, especially in this economic climate. But when potential customers find more and more reasons to shop online instead, Cycle Gear will have only itself to blame when business trickles down to zero. read more

Great location. I'm a fan of Cycle Gear in general, and the convenience of the Lomita shop is hard to beat. The best thing about Cycle Gear for me is that they're open on Sunday! You always need a tire, drain bolt, or brake lever on a Sunday, when all of the other shops are closed. Staff here is fantastic. Great return policy. Only downside to the Lomita shop is an abundance of BILT and Sedici in relation to the amount of Dainese, A*, and even Icon on display. The Canoga Park shop has more Dainese, and of course the massive San Diego location has pretty much everything known to man. It would be great if Lomita carried more high-end gear, and maybe included some Rev'it gear as well. Docking 1/2 star for the lack of high-end gear, and 1/2 star for a pretty lousy parking lot. the Harbor Freight next door may be responsible.. it's also responsible for helping to lighten my wallet every time I'm near Lomita! read more

These guys have a great selection of all things for your motorcycle and accessories. One gripe I would have is that the BILT brand is not very good quality. I have purchased a few items under that name ( which i believe is from Cycle gear) and it shows of low quality. For example gloves I purchased came apart at the seams in just a matter of weeks. They're also a PROMILITARY company and offer military discounts. I've bought brake pads, helmets, and so many other things here and no one can top their price. The deals that they have are amazing. This place has a lot of positives, but it's the few negatives that really gave me mixed feelings about this place. First and foremost: this place has A LOT of stuff! The place is filled with helmets, boots, gloves, jackets and so much more. If you want something motorcycle related, they are likely to have it. If they don't have it in stock, they can order it from their extensive online catalog. They also have sales going on all the time and an excellent exchange/return policy. The issue i have with this store is the customer service. Let me start off by saying that the employees are helpful and knowledgeable. The problem is being able to complete an entire customer service interaction without interruption. I'm not sure who trains the staff, but if you are helping a customer, you shouldn't ditch them every time the store phone rings. This comes off as rude and uncaring. I stood at the register, debit card in hand, waiting for the cashier to get off the phone so I can pay and leave. I've been to this store a few times, and I continue to see customers waiting for service because the employee is on the phone. read more

They call this a motorcycle shop, when they don't have a single Allen Wrench to lend you to do a simple fix on a throttle cable to get you back on the road. Asked the guy in front and he said they don't have any tools but yet they change tires for people in there. I've never heard of another motorcyclist not helping another motorcyclist get back on the road, that's just human nature for us to help each other, but not according to these guys. This Cycle Gear location is one of the best I've been to. The staff is always helpful the moment you walk in the door and the store manager Jake is one of the friendliest guys around. They have always had what I needed and on the rare occasion they don't, they can order it. When the parts arrive on the special orders I am always called that day and informed of their arrival. If you are a local racer they have a great sponsorship program as well. It's great to have Club Level support for racers as motorsports are not cheap for us guys with day jobs. read more

I tried it on while in the store and it was fine but a few days later i used it for the first time and the visor would pop off while riding. All of the staff were very helpful, friendly, and accommodating, especially Nick, who literally took the time over 2 hours to explain all the different gear needed to ride very safely as we are in the process of getting our motorcycle license. Since we are just at the start of our riding experience, Nick really took the time to patiently answer all of our many questions about all of the products and always included his own experiences with the gear. New riders, stay away! My girlfriend, who just started riding, had rims and tires to be changed. She called ahead and they quoted $20 each. After the work was done they charged $30, and they refused to help her carry them out to the car! The mechanic and the receptionist were both very rude and unhelpful throughout the experience. I went there looking for a new helmet. I already had a model in mind as my 13 year old helmet was discontinued but I had read about a similar fitting helmet from a different manufacture. They do have a nice selection of helmets to choose from and several colors and sizes of the model that I wanted. I confirmed that the model I was looking for was a correct fit but the price was about 15% more than I had seen on the internet. I am willing to pay the 15% for a new helmet but all they had were display helmets so I asked for a price match. The price match was declined. I get home and it is my mistake. The solid black or white is less money and any other color or matte is 15% more. Had they approved the price match I could have realized they were only one dollar more than cycle gears own website (for the color I wanted). No worries I saved the dollar lol read more

Actually, I walked in needing to get some gloves and boots for my MSF lesson the next day. "Denz" helped me out. He was at the counter and came out to help me find gloves and boots. My hands are difficult to find gloves for. He also helped me try on a bunch of helmets to see what size I am for when I'm done with MSF and buy a bike and the matching helmet and jacket. He also got the sales info out to give me a coupon/discount on the gloves and the boots he picked out were on sale, too. So, while my personal experience, so far, has been completely based on the helpfulness of one of their employees, I still am a fan. read more

Can't remember the employee that helped me out but I went there last week to have a tire installed on a rim. Didn't buy the tire from cycle gear and had already dismounted the old tire. I had partially installed the new tire but was having trouble breaking the bead over the last part of my performance machine wheel. I didn't want to chance messing up the wheel so I took it to them. The guy behind the counter told me that they could finish installing it.....I said great. When I asked him what I owed he told me there was no charge. I still tipped him cause I was unsuccessful mounting the tire and could not mount it myself. Haven't used them for much else but will refer people to them just for the service they gave me. read more
