Since I'm from Southern Vietnam, my taste leans more toward broth that is not too salty and doesn't have too strong of a fermented shrimp paste flavor. The soup here is very well-balanced for my taste. The noodles can be hit or miss, sometimes they are just right, but other times they can be too soft and break apart easily. The staff here are not very friendly or enthusiastic, but the restaurant itself is not too big and overall feels clean enough. Great BBH. The broth only comes non spicy and you add your own spice at the table. The broth has a very beefy, savory flavor with a hint of sweetness. The meat was the most tender I've ever had in any BBH and the cha lua and meatball were also very tender and flavorful. Pork blood was just like any other and I'm not a huge fan of pork hock so only tried a small piece. It didn't turn me into a fan. The chili sate sauce is good but I've had better. The one thing that really set them aside from others is that the server asked if we wanted the veggies raw or steamed. We got it steamed but I think I prefer it raw. Best is always subjective, but I can tell you that this place makes a very solid Bun Bo Hue. The broth is very tasty, the noodles are cooked just right, and a sliced beef was not too tough. Got the "large" Bun Bo Hue. Didn't feel like there was much difference from the regular bowl besides the amount of broth. Flavor for me was 3.8/5. It was hard to spice it up even with their chili oil - which didn't have much kick. Maybe expectations are different in this economy in Little Saigon area but felt like we really didn't get any banana flower shavings like most places for BBH. The Cafe Sua Da tasted like it was just hazelnut creamer and no condensed milk was used. Would return for, but probably just get a regular sized bowl since there wasn't much difference. They also provide you a plate of veggies that go with the dish. The restaurant is pretty standard to all the other ones. The decoration and vibe is kind of retro and urban with a lot of wood. The location is in a plaza so you should be able to find parking, but the restaurant itself is fairly small. Somehow, it still manages to hold a decent amount of tables. The only downside is that the price is quite high for such a small portion. I was definitely expecting a lot more that what I got. Also, my family noticed that they didn't give us any pork blood (huyết) at all. This is a very important ingredient for bún bò Huế. The good: Something I love about Vietnamese noodle soup dishes is the complexity of the flavors and their addition of fresh and raw herbs and vegetables. BBH definitely has the components. The broth was less spicy than normal BBH at other spots so my 2 year old daughter was able to eat it. You can amp up the heat with chili sauce they give you on the side. I liked the lemongrass flavor and how it came with plenty of vegetables (banana flower) and lime. The price was great (much cheaper than San Jose BBH).
