This has been very long overdue. My family and I have been going here for years and I can't believe I never wrote a review for this place ever. This is a family owned business. Grandma still runs the show and she is always sitting at the cashier table. It is cash only but they comp priests and religious people since they are a Catholic family. Everyone here is so nice and I think they have been working here for years, it's always the same staff. Their food is comfort food and I love their canh bun here. My grandma and I came here a few weeks ago since we were craving canh bun. She's been coming here for years! The restaurant can seat maybe 30 people. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by welcoming staff. They usually have Paris By Night or a similar show playing in the background. Bun rieu is my second favorite Vietnamese dish after pho, and I work night shifts, so the stores close when I get off from work or school. This leads to other restaurants serving bun rieu late at night. And let me tell you, some places serve bun rieu, but it's either too salty, too much crab, or too tomato(ty). Or too sour. To be honest, it's one of the best Canh Bun I've had anywhere. They fill the bowl with lots of meats as well as a lot of rau muong which one love to death. A big fan of Bun Rieu so this bowl comes naturally. The broth is nice and seasoned well so I don't have to use mam tom (shrimp paste). It's taste good take out or dine in. The portions are huge and the price is relatively low. I had no issues with the staff and they served promptly and politely. This is a typical Vietnamese old fashioned joint so service is not a priority. If you can bypass that and just judge the place for its food, the Canh Bun won't disappoint. The restaurant is kinda hidden in the corner next to all the fruit stands so beware of lots of people walking as well. The interior is clean and modern compared to before. I always get the Canh Bun Thap Cam here, as it has everything. The price has went up a lot. Just last year it was $9 but now it's $11 for a regular.
