Affordable, fast, professional and easily located. $189 for a complete brake job, which included machined resurfaced rotors, the best brake pads, ceramic brake pads, shims, cleaning, repairing, adjusting the brakes all around. The job only took about 80 minutes and I was back on the road with new brakes, which is a great feeling. Dan and his buddy are the best at what they do. I had thought about going to Les Schwab, but problems with them in the past drove me to go to an actual brake shop, that does brakes as a specialty, and without an appointment. Excellent work and service. I visited D & D Brakes because my "Check Brake Wear" light turned on. When I called, they quoted me x for each axle. They checked my brakes, and instead of recommending both the front and rear pads and rotors be replaced, they told me the front still had around 8-10K miles and only the rear required replacement. I was surprised. I am used to dealerships who always want to change everything. D & D could have easily upsold me both axles, but they chose to, "Sleep better at night." Just to follow up, D&D is a competent, honest brake shop.  Larry quickly inspected my brakes and confirmed I have 70% on the front and 90% on the back. He tested my fluid and said it was crystal clear and not needing flush and replacement.  No charge for the inspection and the fluid check and fill. He said my fluid reservoir was between the min max level and was probably tripping the sensor when it was cold while cornering. The dealer (Toyota of Kirkland), had quoted me $700 to $900 without even inspecting it!! I don't know why the dealer was telling me my rear brakes were getting down there at my last tire rotation.  Larry said he had a first gen taco like mine and said he didn't have to do his rear brakes until over 300 k on it. I highly recommend D&D for brakes, as that's all they do.    I would imagine they do shocks and struts as well, but I'm not sure.  The coveted five star rating is definitely warranted! After the toyota dealership told me my prius needed front rotors and pads resurfaced ($595!!!) I called up D&D for an inspection. Larry told me that nothing was wrong besides a bit of pitting on the rotors. Come back in 20,000 miles for another inspection. How honest is that? The first time I took the car in for a brake check and they said that the brakes have about 8 thousand miles of wear left and to bring the car back later and today I took our other car in to have a squeak coming from the brakes looked at and they found that the rear brake adjuster was not working properly. I desperately needed work on my old Ford's brakes. I saw D&D brakes on Yelp, and was shocked to see a nearly perfect 5-star rating over a couple of hundred reviews! All I can say is that the rating is completely justified. I set an appointment for my truck at 1:00, but was able to break free much earlier, and brought my truck in at 9:30. No problem, they saw me right away. They did a full inspection and within 30 minutes I had an estimate of what was needed. They said the truck would be ready by 2, but it really, it was ready by 1. The brakes are 100% better and the cost was much cheaper than I expected. If you need brake work, don't go anywhere else. Really. These guys are amazing. And nice too! read more

I usually don't take the time to write reviews but my experience with this business was such a nightmare that I need to share this. I went into D&D brakes to get my brake pads replaced, simple right? When I get there, the guy also recommends I get my front rotors replaced. I'm skeptical but want to take care of my car so I agree. In total I pay $7XX dollars which seems astronomical but I am trusting these guys due to their good reviews. When I pick up my car, the guy says that it is in great shape and they installed "high end" brake pads so I should be good to go. As I am driving home which is about ~30min drive, I immediately notice that the brakes are SO LOUDLY SQUEAKY that it is hurting my head. This is not normal squeaking. I give them a call and they say to make another appointment to get it looked at. Days later I bring it in, which is another 30min drive for me during the middle of a workday. They say that the sound is "normal" and that I need to drive up to 200 miles for the squeaking to go away. Sounds pretty odd but again I am trying my best to stick with the process and want to work together to get through this. 2 weeks go by and 300+ miles driven, and the sound is still not getting any better. My head hurts driving this thing. So I make yet another appointment, another 30min drive there and back, and more time taken out of my day. They say they don't know why it is make such a loud noise and they decide to replace the brake pads. Ok should be all good after that right? Nope. I pickup my car for the 3rd time and there still squeaking going on. I call them yet again and they say to bring it in for a 4th time. I bring the car in again and they say that it's not the brake pads that is squeaking but something else, and that they would need another $8XX from me to fix it. I am floored at this point. My car was not squeaking when I initially brought it in the first time around yet somehow after they installed these supposedly "high end" brake pads and checked the car out 3 times now, they need more money to fix the squeaking. Absolutely ridiculous. I am never going back to this place and would definitely not recommend. This whole ordeal took over a month with what should have been a 1 day easy fix, and my car is still squeaking. read more

I had an excellent experience here today. Like, I was a customer here about 8 years ago. At the time I lived just a few blocks away from the place and just needed my brakes replaced. Had a good experience then. And I had a remarkable experience again today. I live in Everett, but I have had squeaking when I applied the brake for the last month. I have only owned my '15 Infiniti Q50 for about 3 years. Bought it certified used. Put about 30k miles on it and just figured all the brakes needed to be replaced. I emailed Larry during the Christmas weekend and he responded immediately with a quote on the same day. Other places wanted to do an inspection first before giving a quote. I don't have a lot of time to spare to just take my vehicle to a place to get a quote and get roped into the dilemma of "should I just get my brakes done here and now at X place? Should I take it to the other shop to maybe get a better deal?". So, I chose D&D Brakes because they responded quickly (during a holiday) and gave me a reasonable quote compared to what I have paid in the past with their competitors. When I brought my vehicle in, they did a quick inspection and told me that my front brakes have 80% more life, and only the rear brakes needed to be changed! Definitely great news! I appreciate the honesty because I was prepared to pay for both axles. They really deserve the 5 star rating on yelp. The one thing that might bother some (but really didn't bother me) is the waiting area. Not a lot of seats to sit in if you decide to stay till your service is done- especially if there are multiple customers at the same time. I don't mind chillin for an hour or two. But, I've had nicer areas to wait while having my car worked on while I use my headphones to listen to music or audiobook. I could have had the same service from the dealership for twice the price, but then I'd have to spend more for a very comfy waiting area with complimentary beverages, snacks, cable, and other crap that I don't really need unless all of my paycheck went to the mortgage that month. Honest and thorough! One of the mechanics during my last oil change said I should get my brakes checked since my brake fluid was low. I went to D&D Brakes for an inspection and received excellent service. Tom and the team completed the inspection in minutes and advised that my brakes were in great shape. Doublechecked the fluid level for me just to be sure. Gave advice on when I should take my car in next and answered all my questions. Informative without being patronizing (I am fem and was there on my own). The inspection was completely free and everything was finished in under 15 minutes. Another shop had told me I needed brakes, rotors, etc and quoted me an insanely high price of $2k. I shopped around and found this place which I called and received a quote over the phone that if all the work was needed would be nearly half the cost of the other place. They also stated it could be less if only part of the work was needed. I brought my car in thinking I'm in for at least $500. I've searched high and low for a decent brake shop with honest pricing. To get my rotors resurfaced (front and rear) and new brake pads, I've gotten quotes close to $1000 from major shops. That's ridiculous! I've done them myself in the past but no longer have access to the tools and space, but I'm so GLAD I came across D & D. They took my car, did a fast inspection and told me the real situation - that I still had plenty of miles left. Fast forward to when I needed service, I went here. D&D came out shining on Yelp and off we went into the Northgate Neighborhood. They squeezed us in for a diagnostic and the prognosis was grim. Essentially we had no brake coverage left and we were dumb dumbs for letting it get that worn out. Recommendation was for all four breaks and rotors at a fair cost but something we weren't expecting. I was THAT person that called 4 minutes before they were closing on a Friday. I had put it off all week and when I got home, I started researching on Yelp for breaks. They'd been squealing all week and I knew I had to get them checked out before the rain officially started and I crashed... The guy who answered was super friendly and didn't seem rushed or bothered that I had waited till the last moment in time to call. He said they did free break checks and could get me in this morning if 9am wasn't too early. I had procrastinated long enough, so 9am it was! Pulled up around 8:45a, walked in and was warmly greeted. I expected to have to wait till 9am but they said they'd check it immediately. By 9am, we were checked and quoted for breaks and rotors. As a female, I didn't feel taken advantage of and he explained that although only the rear NEEDED to be done, that the front breaks were about 100-200 miles out. I am very impressed with this company. I went to see them because my car had developed a mild shudder when I stepped on the brakes. The car is 5 years old has 56,000 miles on the original brakes. I assumed that it was time to have them replaced. D&D were able to look at my car the afternoon that I called. When I arrived, they promptly took my car in for an inspection. I fully expected to receive an estimate for replacement of all 4 brakes. In a few minutes, the technician came out and told me that the front brakes still had about 30% wear left and would not need to be replaced for another 6,000 miles. The back brakes had over 50% left. The shudder was caused by mild warping of the rotors. He recommended that I not do anything with the rotors until the brakes were replaced. He then told me how to identify when the brakes would need replacing. No charge for anything. They could have easily sold me new brakes and I would not have known. I am very impressed with their honesty and will definitely use them from now on for all our brake repairs. read more

Weeks ago one of my car wheels started to squeal when pressing the brake paddle on downhill road. Called in on Monday morning to see if they have any appointment slot in future. But to my surprise they immediately found me a good time for the same day after an hour! Drove in and got brakes throughly examined by Larry and it turned out the brake pad and rotor are still thick enough for another 8k-10k driving (just glazed out).
