I've loved these guys for years, through three trucks of my own and the vehicles of at least two friends who needed rides to pick up their cars here after I referred them to this place. Even with a good friend now who owns a garage and gives me a hard time when I don't bring all vehicles to him for repair, when he's out for a day (as he was last week), then D&D comes to the rescue. We mentioned to him that this would be our brake spot while he was out, and he had nothing but good things to say about them. When your competitors say good things about you even in their private lives, you know you're a good brake shop. I can't remember the prices on the past brake jobs I've had here, but they were easily the lowest-bid jobs in town the first time, and after that I just kept coming here without calling around. This time, they were about $150 to just fix the brakes on a little Ford sedan, which ended up needing rotors and calipers, roughly doubling the price. The brakes were already grinding at every touch of the pedal, so the rotors and calipers had to be necessary. If we'd caught it earlier, we would've paid far less. They do only the work you need, they do it quickly, they pretty much always have the parts on hand that day, and I've never seen anyone able to match their prices. The quality of work here has always been excellent as well. I've worn out brake jobs of theirs (through tens of thousands of miles of driving) and never had an issue, nor have any of the friends who've had work done here. It's not a big shop, other than the large number of work bays they have under their roof. The waiting room is virtually non-existent, and the bathroom is a million years old, with stone age lighting technology and flush technology that's maybe from the bronze age. You don't come in here for the latest copy of Us magazine, free pop, and cushy waiting room furniture. You come here to get your brakes done, in and out. We dropped it off the night before, and it was ready before 11 the next day, even with a constant stream of customers all around us--they pulled her car out, and every bay was full behind her by the time we got there. It's a grotty stretch of Aurora. You're looking at pawn shops and psychic readings and whatnot through here, and parking is tight. But I can certainly deal with some touch and go parking in order to save a hundred or more on PITA car fixes like brake jobs. So happy these guys are here, and will be back again and again. read more

Great, FAST and friendly service!! I was recommended to come here from a friend from work. I am so glad I did! My husband went to Les Schwab for an estimate and they wanted to charge us $922 for ALL 4 brakes and rotors. D&D only charged me $590 for all 4 brakes and rotors AND to flush and fill the brake system!! Bellevue Toyota dealer wanted to charge me $500 for brakes after inspecting the car. Turns out it isn't necessary yet and can go another 15,000 miles before the pads need to be replaced. Brake pad was squeaking, so figure I might need a replacement. I called around several places near Seattle for quotes for brake pad replacement and rotary resurfacing. Went with D&D brakes as their price estimate seem to be the most reasonable for both the front and back. The mechanics were honest and told me I still had an estimate of 10,000 miles left on my brakes pads and didn't need to change my pads. We had our car serviced by the dealership that we have been going to for almost three years now - 50k service. They said the front pads needed to be replaced and the rear pads were getting close. They also said that the battery needed to be replaced. We knew there was a battery problem. The dealership had replaced the battery one year earlier, and after one year there was basically no warranty on the battery they had installed. Because of the battery issue, I decided to shop around for brakes (as well as a battery). I checked online reviews and called D&D. They had openings the next three days. I brought it in and D&D looked at the brakes and rotors. The guy came in and told me to come back in 10,000 miles, there was plenty of use remaining in the pads. I asked what the estimated cost for pads and rotors would be, and he estimated about 1/3 of what the dealership had quoted for doing the brake pads. I thanked the guy at D&D and told him I would be back in 10,000 miles. I will also stop there first if I need tires in the future! read more

Felt compelled to follow-up a previous review... Took a different vehicle in for brake service. An unreleated shop (unrelated service) told me I needed new pads on rear brakes immediately. Scheduled brakes service at D&D because I've had good experiences in the past with them. They called back a short while later to tell me I still had another 5-7K miles left on the pads and replacement wasn't necessary at this time. Wow! This is the second time they have placed honesty over sales for me and my family. Speedy, helpful, and trustworthy! I took my car here a few months ago because my car repair book said that I probably would need my brakes replaced around 80k or so. They took a look and told me that they did not need to be replaced for another 10-15k miles, so I left paying nothing when they could have tried to upsell me and tell me that they had to be fixed then. Fast forward a few months to December and I needed my brakes fixed (still haven't needed to replace them) - they got me in and out that day and they've been feeling great since! These guys are awesome. I took my Nissan in for a brake check because there was squeaking and a light on my dash seemed to indicate that there might be some deeper issues with brakes. I'm confused about the good reviews here. I recent had my front breaks replaced. (Rotors, pad, calipers). Some good things people have mentioned, good job, fast, nice little waiting room and wifi. Something not so good, When I called them to get a quote I was told it would be somewhere $600 WORST CASE to replace both FRONT and REAR breaks. When I drove in I was told only the front breaks needs replacement. So naturally I was assuming they would cut the price half but for some reason they asked for about $600 just to replace front rotors, pads and calipers. When I read reviews down here I saw numbers much less than this. Maybe there were different kinds of jobs but I'm confused about what they quote me and what they asked for. read more

They were ready when I got there. Turns out the brakes were good for another several thousand miles and I didn't need work yet. Not only did they explain it, Spencer took the time to show me exactly how he was determining the life left in the brakes so I had an idea how to judge for myself in another couple thousand miles. When the BRAKE indicator light in my car lit up on a few blocks drive from my house I pulled over and called D& D Brakes. I had been there for inspections and repairs before and trust their work. My boyfriend taught his son how to put brakes on using my car. Which was very sweet. But after that there was a clicking sound. My boyfriend took it up to D&D, they looked at it and his son had just not tightened a bolt all the way. They explained it to him, tightened the bolt for free and confirmed the brakes were done well. He feels better knowing, for sure, I am riding around in a safe car. He pointed out the guy who looked at the car was maybe 24 and appeared heartened that my boyfriend found it important to teach his son how to do this. Both front and rear break drums and pads needed replacement for my Toyota Highlander, well that's what the Toyota dealership said. The dealership quoted me an arm and a leg.
