I miss my D Angelos! I was staying in Waltham and was dying for one of their subs. It was in the middle of a snow storm but I had to get one before I left to go home. I got there and luckily it was slow because of the snow. They made my order rather quickly and as always got a steak and cheese to go. The gentleman that helped me was very friendly and I was in and out within 7 mins. The bread was perfect and fresh and as always my sub was delicious. Had a really pleasant experience at this D'angelo's today. We were talking about getting a large meatball sub and sharing it and they asked if we wanted it toasted and I said yes and my wife said no so I said oh that's ok just do it cold. No big deal. But the manager/owner told the counter man " just make 2 smalls and you can toast one , then everybody is happy." Which I thought was really nice. And the sub was excellent. Their meatballs are top shelf and the sauce is good. Great bread too. We had a nice chat as we waited. Nice people. Good food. 10/10 we will return. read more

Ordered a vegetarian wrap to go and was very disappointed when I got it home. The wrap was soaking wet and covered in paper, which I couldn't get off the bread. Why wouldn't you heat or toast the wrap so it isn't so cold and soggy? Why on earth would you wrap a hot, wet sandwich in PAPER? I had take out from this place today and I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised. I rarely order takeout from little sandwich shops but I was in a pinch and I expected to get something borderline edible. What I go was something that rivaled pretty much every other sandwich I've ever had that wasn't twice the price and featured on the Food Network or famous through some other mechanism. I had the chicken parm selection and the chicken was not only warm when it arrived but of good quality. The cheese was well placed and the marinara was rather yummy. I literally had a pound of chicken wrapped up in that perfectly toasted bread. I wish I had a little more sauce and cheese, but if I get the chance again I'll just request that to start with. I followed the awesome sandwich up with some cookies which were ooey-gooey-and-oh-so-chewy perfection, a difficult feat for cookies which were not fresh from the oven hot (but absolutely were cooked fresh today). Would I go here again? Hell yeah. Would I cater a large group with them? Absolutely. Well, our order got sent to this store, and when we asked if we could have our food delivered or be refunded we were told no. The manager yelled at us, and said we need to pick the food up. Sandwiches - you get so much more meat and extras then with Subway, who I always have to ask fro extra because they barely put anything on. Love these guys. You'd hardly know this location is part of a chain because of the "neighborhood place" vibe that pervades your experience there. All of the subs and wraps I've tried have been excellent - fresh through and through, and with a respectable if not "stuffed"-caliber quantity of food. Having the choice of a wheat sub roll also makes the day of "some people I know" who like to have a healthy justification for what they're consuming. Sorta like sipping vitamin water while indulging in a four-cheese five-meat pizza. The eat-in environment is unusually pleasant for a fast food joint. Cushy booths along the brick walls (which are adorned with black-and-white "local nostalgia" photos) complement counter-style seating at the front windows and numerous tables for two. What vaults this D'Angelo's into the rarefied five-star realm, though, is the SERVICE. The food prep crew as well as the cashiers are unfailingly at the top of their game. Orders are handled with blinding efficiency. (At lunch today a line of some ten people was completely taken care of well inside five minutes.) Yet the person at the register is always cheerful and chatty as she or he runs the transaction. Then when an order is ready the "kitchen" worker who passes it to the customer is cordial no matter how harried they are. No yelling out of the number on the ticket followed by back-turning and running. You're handed your food directly and given a typical banality like "Enjoy your salad" or "Have a good afternoon" that's always nice to hear anyway. One particular service-related incident stands out. This transpired when a woman on crutches took a seat at a table after ordering. As the cook called her name when her request was completed, he spied the crutches when she responded. I had a Chicken Bacon and Vermont Cheddar Toasted Classic sandwich. The chicken was gross, there was almost no flavor, and the bacon was indiscernible from anything else in the sandwich. I bit into the sandwich three times, spit out the last bite, and tossed the rest away. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is that I'm hoping their lunchmeat sandwiches are better. Do not use this location for catering! I'll keep the review as short as possible - At 9:15am I asked if I could place a small (feeding 6) same-day catering order and was told that I could. I requested delivery for 11:30am. - At 11:27am I received a call from the MANAGER saying that the delivery driver did not show up and she asked me to pick-up my order. I explained that it was not possible for me to leave as I was expecting clients in the office within the next ten minutes. - The manager told me she didn't want to leave her store unattended but would deliver it anyway. She said I could expect to see my order in 10-15 minutes (around 11:45am). Fine. - At 11:53, I called to check on the status of my delivery and was told that it was "on its way". At 12:07pm, I called again to check the status. According to Google, which is accurate, my office is located 1.4 miles away from D'Angelos. - My order was delivered at 12:15pm. Correction: 1/3 of my order was delivered at 12:15pm. I placed an order for a Caesar Salad, a platter of wraps and a dessert tray. My order was missing the salad and dessert. - My order was not delivered with apologies for an inconvenience. Nor was it delivered with any "comps" to make up for the inconvenience. Instead, I got a manager / delivery driver who remarked that she'd never been in our office complex before. She did not seem to understand why I was upset, and apparently thought I had no reason to be upset. Anyway, upon realizing I didn't have the full order.... - I ran outside to get the Manager / delivery driver and I told her I was missing part of my order. Her response? "Well I only charged you for the sandwich platter" I'm not sure I care what she charged me; I placed a larger order than was delivered. She told me she'd call in the rest of my order and would "be right back - about 10 minutes" - 1:05pm (50 minutes later): The rest of my order was delivered and she handed me the credit card receipt for me to sign. Shocked, I asked her why she was still charging me...my order was completed an entire 1.5 hours LATE. She told me she gave me a 20% discount and that my order wouldn't have been late if the driver showed up to work today. I let her know that her driver is not my responsibility. At this point, I was told that I should've placed my order earlier and that she "at least called to tell me the driver wasn't there". I reminded the manager that I ASKED if it was okay to place a same-day order. I reminded her, also, that she called me with "the bad news" 3 minutes before my order was expected to be delivered. She proceeded to say that she did the best she could. At this time, I let her know my intention of posting my review and writing a letter to D'Angelo's corporate HQ. I also let her know that Panera is right up the street and they've thrown in free cookies for having me wait an extra 5 minutes a PERSONAL order (not catering order). She decided she could credit back the sandwich platter. The point is...we had a client meeting. I ordered lunch for 11:30am delivery. It was completed after 1pm. read more

Went there today for lunch and had the lobster 4" roll and soup. Well, I was really excited to finally have a lobster roll...being from CA and hearing so much about this famous sandwich. Well, I was utterly disappointed when the sandwich arrived. Yes, the wheat roll was toasted nicely, but I had asked for extra lettuce and there was very little to say the least. In the picture on the wall, the sandwich is filled well with the creamy lobster mixture. Well another disappointment, there was so little lobster salad on it I could see the bottom of the wheat roll!! It did taste very well...but, not anything like the picture and not anything like I expected. Now the soup, I ordered chicken soup and it was more like chicken broth. It literally had three carrots, three noodles, and a sprinkling of chicken bits! Needless to say...quite disappointed!!!
