Spent the weekend in Bellingham and this place kept coming up as a "must eat". It didn't disappoint. We took my parents for an Anniversary dinner so we brought a really nice bottle of wine. They only charge a $12 corking fee! We started with the Ravioli Sampler, which was very good. Also enjoyed the Spring Mix salad & garlic cheese bread that comes with entrees. We had the Chicken D'Anna, Butternut Squash Ravioli, Caesar Salad, Chicken Piccata, Seafood Sauté and Bruscellone. Amazing flavours in every dish. The scallops in the Seafood Sauté were absolutely amazing. The flavours in the Chicken D'Anna - pine nuts, artichoke hearts, sundries tomatoes, basil - sooooo good! Butter Squash Ravioli was delicious too. Great customer service and friendly wait staff. What a gem! read more

We were on our way home from Victoria and decided to make a pit stop at Bellingham and checked TripAdvisor for Italian food. They rated D'anna Cafe as number one. They are so correct. This is hands down my favorite restaurant. Even though it is far away, it is worth the drive. I highly recommend taking the scenic Chuckanut Drive to get there. I have been going here for years. WOW! What a fantastic Italian restaurant! It's warm, cozy, has a lot of character and all the staff couldn't have been more enthusiastic and pleasant. I arrived close to closing time but they were still very welcoming. I ordered the Chicken Roma which was delicious, great presentation and a very nice portion. A little dinner salad and tasty, warm cheese bread came with the meal, before the main course. This was my first visit to Bellingham and along with the quaint town where this restaurant is and the beautiful surroundings, I look forward to returning here and definitely having another meal at D'anna's wonderful restaurant. read more

What a fun place . Had a family celebration, reservations for large party are a must . This place was busy at 4;30 on a Saturday!! The food is excellent . It's been many years since I last dined at D'anna's and it's just as good I remember it being. Three of us came by on a Friday night, we came early and without a reservation and were lucky enough to get a. table without waiting. Service wasn't the fastest, but once we placed our order, things moved along nicely. My companions ordered Fettuccine Alfredo and Pesto Rigatoni, I ordered the Spicy Shrimp starter and Grilled Chicken Salad (I don't eat pasta - and didn't choose to eat here). One of my companions had a Bloody Mary and the other a dry Cider (that was indeed dry), the Bloody Mary had a nice collection of veggies and olives, it was substantial. All entrees include salad and a piece of cheese topped focaccia, the greens were very fresh and the cheese bread was very tasty. Our entrees arrived and were right sized. Both pasta dishes were generous buy not excessive and my salad was also a reasonable size. The Grilled Chicken salad included super fresh mixed greens, sautéed mushrooms (hidden under the grilled chicken, a nice surprise) and freshly grilled chicken. The spicy shrimp was.in a broth (my companions loved the broth) with quite a few crostini, I ate the shrimp with some of the sauces, it was not as spicy as I would have expected, but the dish was still very good. The Fettuccine Alfredo came with sausage and was creamy and fresh, my companion said it was excellent. The Spinach Rigatoni with Pesto sauce arrived rich and green, may companion said it was amazing, deeply pesto, rich and delectable. read more

Great Italian restaurant with an extensive menu of authentic dishes. Perfect for a date night or just to enjoy some delicious food. We had the butternut squash ravioli, which came with a side salad and slice of bread (focaccia?). So tasty! Only wish that the cocktail menu had more options, but certainly not a deal breaker. Melt in your mouth good! The pasta is freshly made and the sauces are divine. I came here on a Sunday night; as they were one of the few non-chain restaurants open late. There was plenty of street parking which surprised me because there was also a bar next door. It is metered parking, but it was free on Sunday night. I was welcomed and seated immediately. There were a couple of tables of people dining, but this didn't seem to have any impact on the excellent service I received. Menus were presented to the table. I immediately selected the small ravioli sampler which ended up not being small at all. The waitress helped me select the mild-mannered, house blend wine as well as a mix and match of pasta and sauce for the main course. The ravioli sampler included about three of each cheese, spinach and italian sausage stuffed pockets layered with a delectable marinara sauce and topped with freshly shredded Parmesan cheese. A triangular piece of soft bread topped with a melted cheese was served on the side of the dish. I could have just had this as my meal. If you are with a group, this would be great for sharing before the main course. They will box the leftovers for you too. Unfortunately, i didn't realize how much food I would be getting. My main course was delivered to me after a beautiful, vinaigrette-dressed salad of greens had been served. The spinach linguini with marinara meat sauce was also accompanied by one of those triangular breads that were great for sopping up the remaining sauce on one's plate. The price for this terrific meal was about $30. I give four stars to places I would definitely visit again. read more

I came here because I was in town visiting my cousin and was REALLY craving crab pasta. They have a Dungeness crab ravioli with a vodka cream sauce that I ended up with. It was so good! Lots of crab inside so they were actually worth the $26. I also sampled the Alfredo and the gnocchi dishes that the others in my party ordered and everything was really good. The Alfredo was some of the best Alfredo sauce I've tasted. We also ordered the calamari and while I have had better calamari, it was definitely up there with some really good ones I've had! We went at 4 o'clock on a Sunday right when they opened, so I feel like the overall atmosphere wasn't great (aka sitting in a quiet empty restaurant doesn't give off the best ambiance) but that's not their fault. But the food was great and the service was fine. I also liked that our dishes came with a little salad and slice of bread. I would definitely come back here to taste some other dishes if I lived in the area! read more

Mixed experience for us. Atmosphere is A+, the feeling of the space, the light, and the acoustics are terrific. You walk in and smile. Food was a mixed bag: I had lamb manicotti, which were excellent, if a little heavy on the cheese. She had a Caprese salad, which was a non-traditional interpretation, and unfortunately very very heavy on vinegar, and not actual Balsamic vinegar as a further sin, and was in fact inedible. Service was competent but felt rushed, as if once I had taken my last bite of food I was meant to leave. Overall impression: great space, Americanized Italian food, lively, not a place to linger or relax after a meal. read more

My husband and I ate here last night for the first time. He ordered spaghetti and meatballs and I ordered chicken piccata. My husband said his was a B. I tasted his spaghetti sauce and to me it tasted like tomato sauce out of the can but he was ok with it. My chicken piccata was a big disappointment. When it arrived I thought they had given me the wrong meal. A small 4 oz or less unbreaded filet of chicken was smothered in a curdled brown sauce that was too salty and punctuated with capers and over cooked lemon rinds. I was expecting a delicate lemony sauce over a lightly breaded chicken breast. Oh well, the salad and bread were good and the service was just fine. We may try it again after we check out the other Italian restaurants in Bellingham. read more

Best Italian food and flexible dietary options in town. No, really. Go beyond your basic food you'd purchase at an Italian joint and prepare to be amazed. Phenomenal homemade pasta- AND gluten free pasta with no grainy, al dente, chewy feeling at all. Soft, and perfectly flavorful. Delectable gnocchi, with an array of sauces and main courses to pair with it. You will NOT be disappointed. Any crab dish is at least a 9/10 in my book, along with the eggplant parmigiana. Holy Moley! One of the most interesting, diverse and flavorful dishes, however, is the seared ahi tuna with capers, olives and an angle hair pasta drizzled with an olive oil parsley garlic sauce. Um? Best of all worlds? I think so. The bread served with the side salads is a crowd fav, and I think it's a nice pairing with their very acidic dressing (per italian tradition). A great way to start a meal and get the pallet going. I recommend their happy hour 1/2 carafe of House red wine for 9 bucks. That's 2.5 glasses for $9. A steal of a deal for a wine that darn well goes with almost anything they serve. I love their mushroom dishes too. Cant go wrong spending a couple extra bucks at this place- and you will. Dishes are generally spendier than other spots in the area. #worthit Also! Keep in mind: you will have a tough experience and probably be displeased if you come at 6:15pm on a Saturday night. They will have one looooong waitlist and don't take reservations for parties under 7 people (my least favorite and consistently annoying thing about them 100%). Prepare to fight for parking too- or get lucky. But go! And go more than once. I recommend an early dinner, 4:45-5ish pm. They're very sweet too. read more

Hubbie was craving "real" Italian -- lasagna, red sauce, the whole nine yards. Thanks to Yelp, we found D'annas! I was very impressed by how attentive the service was, even though it seems the place was pretty busy. We were able to place our drinks and apps order right away. So, we ordered the Calamari. It was great in flavor, but I'll be honest...it was literally THE smallest order of Calamari I've ever received. Since there were three of us sharing, it feel particularly short. And it was not inexpensive. We really liked the dish, but there just really was not enough of it. I think it was a portion for one person, not for two or more to share. My daughter ordered the Caesar Salad for her entree, and my husband ordered a baked Cannelloni with Sausage. He also got the Caesar for his side. When our waitress came with salads, she brought me a small house salad and said it was "on the house" because she wanted me to have something to eat, too. That was a VERY nice touch and completely unexpected. Entrees came and there was enough Cannelloni to share. It was REALLY good. Hit all the "homey Italian food" buttons. Hot, cheesy, great sausage flavor and you can tell the pasta is homemade. Overall, a very good dinner, with the exception of the Calamari disappointment. I have been coming here for years and I have to say I've been disappointed the last few times. It has gotten expensive which is fine, seems to be happening everywhere. But the food seems different, my husband loves the lasagna but the last few times he ordered it, it was burnt and seemed carelessly put together. Things felt rushed, I was in this weekend and I felt like the staff wanted us to go even before we were finished eating. When you are born and raised in Chicago you know your Italian food. I came with high expectations, and was only slightly disappointed in the authenticity of the dishes. Wasn't the Italian sauce I am used to. Given that, the food was delicious and I enjoyed my meal. If I am craving Italian I would probably go back again. My son and daughter loved what they ordered. The only think I think they should do as in every authentic Italian restaurant I've been is , put a basket of good Italian bread on the table with a cheese and olive oil for dipping. We sat at a table right next to kitchen which should probably be reserved for staff table? Full view of not only kitchen line but also part of the inert workings of the kitchen. I came here for dinner with a mid sized group last weekend. We started with the ravioli sampler and calamari. The ravioli was rather disappointing. I was excited to try it, they advertise that it's made in house, but it didn't taste much different than store bought. The calamari was fine, yummy but nothing special. All entrees come with a starter salad. The salad was just greens and dressing, but it was still good. It was served with a slice of delicious cheese bread. We brought our own bottle of rosé to have with dinner. Our server brought us no ice to keep the bottle on, and brought us old fashioned glasses to drink it with. She didn't even mention that they were running low on wine glasses or anything, it was very odd. I ordered the roasted red pepper ravioli for my entree at the same time as we ordered the appetizers. I wish I could have changed my order after having the ravioli sampler! The roasted red pepper ravioli was served in a mushroom cream sauce, which overpowered the slight roasted red pepper flavor in the ravioli stuffing. I shared an order of tiramisu for dessert which was good, but nothing special. Portion was huge, even though we split it we still needed a box for it. read more

Straight up best chicken piccata that I have ever had. Everything here is freaking amazing.

I went here on wensday night. Have heard some hipe that it was good. We had reservations for 630. We got seated at 710 The food looked good and smelled good. We ordered within 10 minutes. 2 of us orderd a glass of wine. I order A cocktail.never saw our waitress again.. At 835 I got up and canceled my meal. 2 hrs no food 1 drink. 2 hrs saw the waitress twice once when we orderd and 10 minutes later when she brought our drinks. BTW dont wast your money on a totally watered down overpriced cocktail. Water is free .that's I got in my drink. But was there 2 friggin hrs 1 drank no food Could give a god damb.how good it is sepose to be. I'll never ever go back. read more
