We were invited to a birthday party at D'Arcy's Tavern in Bradley Beach last night. Never been there. Never heard of it before. It's on Main Street and doesn't look like much from the outside but once inside it grabs you. There is a nice oval bar with tables on the outside walls where wall decorations abound. I noticed it isn't all that big, not a bad thing, I guess judging from the outside I thought it would be bigger. It was Wednesday 5:30 and they had nearly every seat filled at the bar; a good sign. We weren't destined to sit at the bar this trip because our party was on the second floor. As I ascended the steps I couldn't but notice how clean and brightly painted the stairwell was; another omen. Once upstairs I was pleasantly surprised by a nicely done bar/dining area. Bright and open and facing windows and doors leading to al fresco dining on the porch. There's radiant heaters outside for those cool shore evenings. We were the first to get there by a good margin so had plenty of time to talk to and get to know our wait staff. Courtney was organizing the party and she ran around making sure everything was perfect; and it was. Andy helped in the dining room and found out he knew my dad, many moons ago. Catherine our bartender couldn't do enough for us. She kept her composure all night and had a smile for all the guests. A great asset to D'Arcys; plus she likes beer. More on the beer later. Food was served buffet style. There was plenty of it and it was all good. We had sliders, wings, pasta dishes, and more, but my favorite was the prosciutto rolled fresh asparagus. Maybe thirty guests, all raved about the food and no one left hungry or sober unless they really wanted to. I had a minute to peruse their menu and found it both diverse (including pizza) and very reasonably priced. Not insignificant considering Bradley is in the wake of Asbury Park which is exploding with new and not inexpensive dining. Now being a beer lover, (ok I've been called a beer snob, more than once actually), I didn't expect much at D'Arcys because one, Bradley Beach isn't a booming metropolis, and two there was a giant Bud Lite promo plastered to the outside wall. HOWEVER, when you walk in there's a big chalk board listing the craft beer on tap. They were pouring suds from Lagunitas, Southern Tier, First Amendment, Carton, Kane among others. Stopped here on a whim as our planned destination had freezer problems on an extremely hot day. We were so glad we did! It was early on a Friday night when we arrived & the bar was fairly empty; the bartender was quick to welcome us. This little place has a couple of really good 'craft' beers on tap. Not just the generic beers many places try to pass off as craft beer (although they had those too for customers who prefer it). We ordered one of our favorites & were already happy we came. Next up we ordered an appy of buffalo nachos. I have to say, they were absolutely EXCELLENT & they did not skimp on the toppings! We ordered a 'personal' which was big enough for 2 to share. We then ordered a Chipotle Blue Cheese Burger which came out exactly as we ordered it. The food was fresh, hot & delicious. There are lots of TV's around & the place has a nice local feel to it, also evidenced by the many blue collar workers that were coming in. By the time were were finished the place was getting busy. Friendly staff, good beer, great food...what more can one ask. I will be returning very soon. read more

Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. The food is okay at best, not worth the wrath of the employees. The bartender started an an altercation with my friend seemingly out of nowhere. After his girlfriend tried to de-escalate the situation, the bartender shouted horrible expletives (that I cannot repeat) at him and his girlfriend. The utter disrespect was disturbing. Brian is the best bartender! Best amaretto sours ever. (Its hard to find someone who puts enough alcohol in a drink.... From what I've found.) Very reasonably priced drinks- I've gone places where they charge $15 a drink.... Brian's are just as good, possibly better. My friend and I wanted to try a new place, so we went to Darcy's. Everyone was super nice, they have like ten TV's (great for v watching sports), it's not too dark, and good food. We had the macaroni and cheese bites, they were awesome. Comfy neighborhood bar/grill with friendly service and delicious food. I love that you can order your wings grilled here if you prefer. The filet mignon sliders are also a must try starter! Sandwiches and burgers are delicious per my sister who has been here many more times than I have (this review is based on my first visit). Be sure to check out the specials options and come hungry. So ridiculously slow. Like to the point they even say on their menu to forgive them for slow service, "as they're trying to serve everyone". As a fellow serve I understand.. to an extent. The place was not full by any means, we had to get up and ask for our server twice to even be greeted, and had to get up a third time to ask for a final round/the check. Amazing! Although I would hate for them to become too busy, they are 5 stars! We stopped in for dinner and chose burgers. Mrs D chose a turkey burger melt with fries, minus the Russian dressing. On rye grilled rye this was great and we actually shared. I ordered the "Goonerholic" burger, served on grilled rye, sharp cheddar bacon tomato and Dijon mayo... greatest burgers on the shore. First time visit. Went for a social event in the upper room. Nice space for a group including an outdoor deck although we didn't use it in January. Food was plentiful and good but nothing outstanding. Penne vodka, cheese burgers, Caesar salad, buffalo wings, eggplant rollatini. We had a cash bar which included a happy hour. I wasn't aware that there was happy hour pricing so the second drink price was a surprise. It's a group, keep one price all night...just my opinion. Since I did not go into the regular bar or restaurant I don't feel qualified to rate it. For a group, very solid spread, good atmosphere. Worth considering if you are on a budget! read more

This is a shout out to the lovely ladies that took care of us after our beach visit. It was crowded with the World cup games but the staff there are pros! Hubby had his IPAs justified by his Grilled Chicken Blue Cheese Wedge salad. I scarfed my Wedge salad with the excellent Wild Salmon, refreshed by the iced tea! Also, the food has gotten progressively worse and the menu that used to have specials is barely special at all. My friend and I stopped here for a quick, early dinner after we had spent the day on the beach. The staff was extremely friendly, server was enthusiastic in answering our questions. We ordered the chicken BLT sliders, cheeseburger sliders and disco fries. Everything was delicious. It's a soccer bar and the Womens World Cup was being shown. It was very nice to see a decent crowd there cheering during NORvAUS. They have multiple TVs at the bar and the seating area, easy to watch a game no matter where you sit. They had a small parking lot on the side, it was full, but we easily found a spot on the street right out front. I will definitely stop in again when I'm in the area. read more

There's really no place I'd rather be on a Saturday or Sunday morning during footba... er, soccer season than D'Arcy's. It's a cozy place with really friendly and attentive staff, and they serve a nice breakfast. If you stick around until lunch time, they also have a very good burger. If you think "bar", and paint a mental picture, D'Arcy's is more or less that. Wood paneling, brass foot rail. It is a soccer bar, and the ceiling is decorated with scarves from various European teams. The weekend morning regulars are all friendly with one another, and a little rivalry never gets out of hand. I can't speak for the evenings and nights; I've only still been there after dark on one occasion, and I needed to take a taxi home, so I don't remember much. They do put out a nice spread of whatever they happen to feel like making that day for happy hour, which is always delicious. If you're looking for good food and drinks in a warm atmosphere, perhaps with a little proper football thrown in for good measure, D'Arcy's is the place. read more

I have a love hate relationship with D'Arcy's. Sometimes I have a great dinner / experience other times not so much. I've had some really great specials and dinner from here and other times I've been disappointed. I've had servers who are super friendly and happy and others who just seem like they want their shift to be over. Overall I continue to come back so the pros outweigh the cons. Yeah Darcy's! They open at 9:00 a.m. even on Sundays and serving VERY spicy Bloodys and mimosas with fresh OJ - JR C. had a hard time with the Bloody so maybe ask them to back off the spicy. I had an egg and chee on a hard roll (impossible to get a decent hard roll in SNJ/Philly so this was amazing, however I don't know if the waitress just didn't care or if it was the chef but I kind of made a big deal about how the egg absolutely cannot be runny...the server was very nice so I'm going to blame the cook but this thing was a little LESS than over easy. I had to kind of scoop out all of the runny yolk before I could eat it, but for like $3.25 I'm not too angry. We sat inside in the room upstairs which would have been nice if it hadn't been for all the waitresses congregating with a friend at a table near the bar. They were very loud and not paying all that much attention to their customers. The only one that was working her butt off was the young lady who was running the food up the stairs. We can't speak for the upstairs, we always sit in or around the bar. You can't beat the atmosphere during a big game.
