D'atri's has been my favorite stop in western Maryland since I was a little girl. When I go there, even though it's changed quite a bit in appearance, the food is just the same. The house special - pizza sauce and cheese on one of their amazingly delicious pepperoni rolls - is one of my favorites. But, it's usually too difficult to resist the steak sub. My word! It's so, so good. Excellent, soft roll, and the steak is topped with a lightly dressed salad (don't mistake salad for healthy, though). You have to eat it with a knife and fork. Be sure to ask for sweet peppers on your sub. And, wash it down with a vanilla Coke. Not a bottled vanilla Coke - Coke with vanilla syrup and served with a spoon. I love D'atris! When it comes to sandwiches in W. Maryland there's only one place to go & one thing to order. Ultimately, you'll have 2 choices: sweet or hot peppers. It's not as catchy as the meat-in-the-street cheese steaks you'll find at Pat's in Philly, don't mess with Geno's...but close enough. I like it but don't love it. Stranded in the area during a snowstorm on my way to Baltimore from Pittsburgh, I decided to stop in. Ordered the steak n cheese that was raved about. In a single word, ehhh. It's not the holy Grail of steak n cheese. I've been to Philly and had one at both the main places there. I wouldn't tell anyone driving thru that they had to stop in for one. The seasoned lettuce, you ask? It's good but doesn't add a lot. The steak? Honestly, steak ums is probably better. This resembled ground beef more than shaved steak. My gf liked the spaghetti with meatballs well enough but wasn't anything exciting. If you're in the area, stop and get one. But don't go out of your way because it isn't worth it. read more

The family and I are on road tripping across country, we were getting low on gas and happened in to this town. As I was pumping gas I saw the sign for this place. I asked the nice lady at the CVS if this place was any good, she said yes and told me about several of the dishes. I told my wife we are stopping here. As we walked on the door we were greeted by to friendly you ladies. Monday night and this place was packed, they did have some tables up stairs available so we got a seat right away. The wonderfull girl that took us to our table gave some glowing recommendations and I took her up on them. We got the lasagna, alfredo with chicken, kids chicken tenders, and the chicken dumpling soup. I also have never heard of a chocolate coke, it was there own design. I had to try the chocolate coke and was not disappointed. The lasagna was amazing, so was the alfredo. My wife thought the chicken tenders looked dry but when we tried them they were just right. Her soup was good too. We had to get back on the road so we didn't get dessert, I did order a backed soup for the road I haven't got into it yet but I have no doughts that it will be great to. On many occasions when we come to visit friends and family in Pennsylvania and Maryland, we make our way to D'Atri for a meal, usually lunch. Their cheesesteak salad with seasoned lettuce and sweet peppers is DELICIOUS. The salads are so good that when you visit the restuarant only once a year you don't usually try any new items. My wife usually gets the chicken tenders salad which she loves as well. We will continue to visit the restaurant whenever possible. read more

A local friend brought me here, where I promptly exclaimed: "Holy (expletive), that's a huge sandwich!" The cashier looked mortified until I explained that I wasn't from around here. Just passing through and decided on a sit down local lunch, read the reviews and here we are. I had the salmon fillet, a sweet glaze over a perfectly cooked piece of fish. We were in last night for dinner. We ordered two salads, and a house special (pepperoni roll. The waitress brought out our meal one ordered ranch and the other was blue cheese dressing. She brought out a blue cheese and a thousand island. She took the dressing from our table and sat it at the next table that ordered thousand island. She returned with bleu cheese only to find out she had brought out a bleu cheese and not a ranch. On one of the salads we ordered the buffalo chicken salad and the chicken was ice cold. When this was addressed she shrugged it off and went about her business. The house special was burnt to a crisp and once again she did nothing about it: the worse experience ever here. Unusually long time ( 30-35 mins) getting our meal delivered after placing order Then sit and watch a couple different families come in - sit down order and watch them get their meals before you do. Sad thing is this has played put several different times in the past year. Don't know what has changed here but it used to not be this way. Very hard to support a local buisness like this. They can do better than this. My wife had a cup of crab soup delivered and was barely warm. She sent it back and was delivered back to her a mess. Very unacceptable. read more

I ordered a take out dinner of spaghetti and meatballs with meat sauce that came with a salad last night and was charged $20.70 for it. I just called D'atri's and was quoted 14.99 for the same meal. Their menu shows a price of $10.70 for their large spaghetti and meatballs dinner. I have been going to this restaurant since the 80's and was quite shocked by the price differences. The food has always been good but not for 5 star prices that I paid. They need to follow the menu prices and train the employees better so they have their stories straight. This place has GREAT food! Try the cheesesteak sub with seasoned lettuce. The flavor is amazing, however I typically have to get the mayo on the side as they really glob it on. The bread for the subs is baked in house which helps give it that extra touch. The salads are also pretty good if you are looking to cut out the carbs (and mayo) a little bit. The service is typically really good and personable. The atmosphere is also very good. The restaurant is very clean and family friendly. I had the hot roast beef sandwich with mash potatoes and gravy, roast beef was so good but the gravy was very salted. I ruined the meal. My husband had lasagna and there is was also salty. I have been to D'Atri's two times and both times I have had the same problem, slow and bad service. While the food here is okay, nothing special, although it was something I was happy with. We haven't been here in two years, and now I remember why. The most ignorant staff I have EVER encountered. Two hosts more concerned with their phones and giving major attitude to people coming in the doors, one actually HUFFED when she had to walk around the corner to see if there was any seating. Once finally seated, our server walked past our table THREE TIMES, without acknowledging we even existed. Ten minutes later, we decide to leave, and boom! Server has arrived. Food came quickly. Incorrect, and disgusting, but quick. We don't see the server again until we've been waiting to leave for an extended period. Hope you don't expect refills or to have anything fixed if it is incorrect. We will NOT be back and hope to god the owners actually pay attention to the idiots they are hiring. read more

As the other reviewer already said, D'Atri's cheese steak subs are famous. Fortunately, I live in the area so I can enjoy them anytime I want. I typically go for the cheese steak salad, which is basically the famous sub without the "sub" part. They make their subs and some salads with their signature "seasoned lettuce", which you just have to try for yourself because it's impossible to describe. But I've tried many other things because I'm lucky enough to have this place in my hometown. They make a great reuben (which can be made with turkey if you prefer) and have a nice fried haddock that is bigger and whiter on the inside than the plate it's served on. I typically do carry-out because it's usually really crowded inside and the atmosphere isn't really what I would call enchanting...lol. But that's just me. Being that it is truly a family restaurant and a local institution you will find all types of people there at any given time, so it can be a little loud. And most of the waitresses are nice, but the place is so busy that it is very hard for them to focus on any one given table. Parking is really tight as well, so if you're planning to go there at peak hours on a Friday or Saturday night be prepared to be frustrated while trying to find a space. But that just shows how popular this establishment is and has been for as long as I can remember. It's definitely a place you want to check out if you're new to the area or just passing through. read more

When in the area we ALWAYS visit here. The steak sub is the best I've had anywhere . They also serve the same thing as a salad( minus the sub roll). I recommend adding the sweet peppers. Not sure about everyone else taste buds but me and my mother were not as impressed as all the other reviews. I`m not gonna list all the items that were not up to our standards. It was very busy and crowded. Maybe everyone else thinks this is good food. Not authentic at all. I ordered the Rigatoni with tomato sauce and mom had the same with meatballs. A 4.00 dollar upgrade for 2 meatballs. First to get to our table was the salads and the bread. The bread was warm upon arrival which was nice but after sitting a few minutes the outside became like a rock. I mixed my salad and had a smile on my face. That did not last long. Salad dressing was watered down and bland. Only the center of the bread was eatable. Waitress came by and said hows everything? I did not hold my tongue. Told her what I thought to which she replied I will bring you more bread..She told me she microwaved it so it will be nice. OH NO Bread and microwaves never turn out good. I was recommended here by lots of people and they all recommended the subs. Being health conscience at the moment I got the black and bleu steak salad and it was one of the worst salads I have ever bought. The lettuce and veggies were fresh but the steak and sautéed onions and mushrooms were terrible. They were over seasoned with whatever seasoning they used and ruined the entire salad.
