I will start off saying that this is the BEST bbq I have ever had. The first day we stopped by I had pulled pork & mac and cheese. Soooo good. Second day I got brisket, boyfriend got pulled pork again. The brisket is BY FAR my favorite. So good that we shared another plate after the first. Wanted to leave a good review because I saw a couple poorly rated reviews and I truly believe this place deserves 5 full stars. It seems like some customers have had a problem with customer service/wait time in the past but that was not my experience. The owner was friendly and courteous from the moment we stepped up to his truck to order. We may have gone at an off-peak time but it was still about lunch time and there wasn't any line before us. There were a couple groups already eating at the picnic tables next to the truck. I liked how you could order plates - you create your own combo of meat(s), sauce (not spicy-hot spicy), and side(s) (mac n cheese, cole slaw, etc.). They all come with a bread roll. Given all that food for our group of 4, the wait could have easily been long but we maybe waited 5-8 mins? For quality slow-cooked barbecue, I think that's pretty good! And the quality was phenomenal. Served hot, the sauce was delicious and had a kick, and cuts of meat themselves were very good. I enjoyed the whole experience very much except for the wild roosters that were getting crazy close to us while we were eating at the picnic table. But that's Kauai for you. Visiting the island and my son has a bad cold, so we were at the walk-in clinic in Koloa. Skipped breakfast in the rush to get him to the Doctor. While waiting, kept smelling some delicious meat smoking. Finished up and rushed to the food truck lot next door. This place has ribs, chicken, sausage and the usual sides. $10 for a BIG pile of delicious brisket and a side of Mac n cheese, with a roll. Mac was the baked kind, my favorite, real cheese, no powder or sauce mix. The brisket was as good as I've ever eaten, nice smoke ring and delicious dry rub. Proprietor was super cool. Ate every bite. I fully expect that by the next time I get over here, this place will be a full sit down restaurant. read more

If you like BBQ, this is your place to go. Forget any sit down restaurant on the island. This food is clearly a passion project of its proprietor. The honest to goodness best pulled pork I've ever had. The smoked chicken fell off the bone with nothing but the gentle prodding of a plastic fork. The meat is unbelievably moist and flavorful. We are barbeque fans and can eat it wherever we travel. My sister, Ethel, wanted some and found D Green's Barbeque. We ordered four plates with pork ribs and also had one which also included chicken with the ribs for my brother. It was absolutely delicious and had good portions for a reasonable price. My sister-in-law usually doesn't eat much meat and she enjoyed it. The beans and potato salad were good also. On top of all that D Green was very nice. We will definitely go back. Try it. We were visiting from Oakland, & since I love BBQ & food trucks, I made it a point to hit up D Greens. We got the ribs, pulled pork, mac n' cheese, coleslaw, sausage, & hush puppies. Everything was delicious! Dry rub BBQ.. the meat was incredibly tender. We made sliders out of the pulled pork, bread, & coleslaw, which was fresh & not too saucy. My boyfriend doesn't even like hush puppies, but I made him try one, & he ended up happily eating his share.. they were perfectly crisp outside, fluffy & moist on the inside. Location: there are a couple of other food trucks there, with a little stretch of lawn and lovely shade trees, & picnic tables. There was a downpour right as we were getting our food, though, so we went & parked by the ocean & had a Jeep picnic. We tore that food up!! Highly recommend! read more

DG's Q is a Oakland, CA Southern Style BBQ -up 10 notches... It runs circles around anything in the Bay Area. That said... being located in Kauai it's a unique taste that cannot and should not be compared to Hawaiian BBQ. The way it's prepped, seasoned, plated and served is traditional mainland southern style. Sliced bread - I'll take it all day long. Mac&Cheese was soft and cheesy. Potato Salad was above board decent - which is hard to perfect for masses. I had the brisket w/burnt ends and hubby had the pulled pork. The ONLY down side -which was totally on us - we decided to eat it onsite -under a huge tree - on a picnic table in the grass. As a result - we have insect bites galore... BUT, it was well worth it. The price paid for the quantity and quality of food was exceptional. Prices aren't tourist prices. D Green - it was a pleasure meeting and talking with you. This guy kills it. Visited the Koloa food truck spot unsure of what to expect, but he more than met our expectations. I am a BBQ hound, got 2 smokers in the backyard. This guy does good bbq. This is the best food I had on Kauai. I ate at a lot of places, cheap and expensive, and this was killer. I wish I ate here earlier on my trip so I could come back. The guy who works at this food truck is rude as f. We waited about 10 minutes before he even turned around to take our order. I asked if he serves rice since I can't eat any of the sides on the menu and he said "No, but the other 3 food trucks next to me do." Interesting response but I looked past it. Since the only thing on the menu are plates that come with meats and sides and I can't eat any of the sides, I asked, "Do I just get the meat if I order a plate? How does that work?" He literally said "I don't know." AND he had an attitude about it as if I was asking something completely unreasonable. If I were a business owner in the food industry, I would be more respectful and maybe a little more creative to accommodate customers. I said "Ok, I'm good, I'm not going to order anything." I wanted to write an honest review because I have seen some that were very unjustified. My husband and I stopped here for lunch, I got the brisket with coleslaw and he threw in some burnt ends, my husband got the chicken and mac & cheese. The menu board is very clear and you just order in the steps provided. Very simple. D is a one man show, polite and friendly. We waited less than five minutes to get our food.
