A newly opened eatery inside a mall that specialized in Chinese cuisine in both Northern and Southern cooking style including Dim Sum and various breakfast items. We visited there on a Wednesday around noon. There weren't many customers and we were seated promptly. Food came quickly after ordering. Their special soy milk was made from 5 different beans and came with no sugar or salt . You have to add sugar or salt to your own taste. It was different but somewhat less concentrate than most soy-milk. The garlic chive pan fried buns were ok. Pork pan fried buns were good but a bit smaller than those from other places. The egg plant dish was good. Their signiture dish of whole grilled fish was impressive and tasted OK! Overall portions and prices were reasonable. Service was good. Might worth a visit when in the neighborhood.

This suddenly replaced Special Noodles, but I actually prefer this place way more! Came here for malatang. You pretty much grab a bowl and choose your toppings then select the broth and spicy level. The cost is about $16/lb. Overall it's a really solid deal. They have a decent variety for toppings and also offer a DIY sauce bar. The workers speak Mandarin and English. No issues with the interaction. Edit: Updated review based off owner's response. That is good to hear Richard.

So warm and comforting! The owners are so sweet and nice. Although Chinese is mainly spoken, they're really welcoming and do speak English so don't be afraid! If you're ever down shopping at 99 ranch I highly recommend!! The malatang: sooo delicious and spicy! Me and my sister shared a malatang with the original bone broth that was medium spicy! Although the ingredients are a little sparse they do try and put out the ingredients. The broth is something I've never tasted before. So spicy and soooo addicting. It tasted so different than other malatang places. There is also a sauce bar don't you worry. I do wish they did refill the malatang area a little more but they just opened so I don't blame them:) Fish: we chose sea bass but there are 3 different options. The fish was a little fried and was so delicious. It was on top of so many vegetables like cabbage, enoki mushroom, bell peppers, onions, cilantro and cucumbers. Soo good and worth it if you come with a big party. Cucumber: garlicky and refreshing just what I wanted when eating something spicy! Spicy fried chicken: this to me was my favorite. It has a kick and a pretty strong numbing spicy. Truly so addictive! The chicken were nice chunks and not small at all like other places I've tried! The spicy and the overall savoriness was sooo delectable !!

Kind man stopped my husband and I to tell us about their malatang (self serve ingredients/they cook soup for you). We opted for a regular menu item and got handmade pan-fried buns, pork and shrimp wonton soup, and rice cake w/ brown sugar for dessert. The soups & buns tasted incredibly clean and fresh. Perfect for a day after the rain. But the showstopper was the brown sugar rice cakes. Holyyyyyyyy molyyyy. We could eat that up all day. Warm, savory, lightly crusted but soft rice cakes. I basically danced the whole time I was eating. Fellas, bring your ladies here if you want to see your ladies do that happy dance when eating good food. Will definitely be back!

Great prices and great food. They have malatang style hotpot by weight. But their restaurant style food looks amazing and seems to be what everyone's after. The hotpot is much more limited in terms of variety compared to like tangbar but it's still really good tasting.

Came across this place while walking on Clement, craving noodles, and it did not disappoint. CQ…read morerepresents everything I love about a family-owned Chinese restaurant and is a place I'll continue to visit and support. Cucumber Salad (7/10): Pretty different from most typical cucumber salads that are sesame oil-heavy. This version was more acidic, almost like a pickled cucumber dish. It wasn't mind-blowing, but it worked well as a refreshing palate cleanser between the more flavorful entrées. Shanghai Style Sweet & Sour Ribs (8/10): Very reminiscent of American-style Chinese food. The ribs were extremely tender, and the sauce was sweet without being too overpowering. Pairing bites with rice and cucumbers kept me wanting more. The bok choy on the plate was simply boiled, and while I enjoy clean, plain vegetables, others might expect a bit more. Braised Beef Noodle Soup (8.5/10): There are many noodle options to try here, and we went with the regular hand-pulled. The noodles were good, though I personally wished they were a bit firmer. The broth had a deep umami flavour and was exceptionally well seasoned. I found myself dunking rice from the set plate into the broth and just eating that. The meat could have used a little more character, as it was just tender slices, but it didn't need much more since the broth carried the dish. Definitely a place I plan to visit anytime I'm in the area, and I'm excited to try more of the delicious dishes on their menu.

Cozy little restaurant with some funky decor. The menu seems anchored by the signature beef soup,…read morewith many different cuts of beef and types of noodles to enjoy it with. The beef rib seemed to be hands down the most popular choice. Chicken Wings: Didn't seem to have any coating/batter. Super crispy. Had a layer of fat beneath the crispy skin, so not like the rendered off Korean style. And a nice soy taste. Beef Rib Knife Cut Noodles: This looked epic. Two huge ribs sticking out a bowl of squiggly noodles and glowing red soup. It tasted great too. The beef ribs had such tender and flavorful meat morsels. Thankfully I wasn't trying to impress anyone, so I ate the ribs by hand. The knife cut noodles were fun, with a springy chewy texture. But the real star was the broth. Such slow cooked beef goodness. And some nice spices to bring out even more complexity.

In terms of cleanliness and ambiance, it needs a deep cleaning. It seems to have been in business for a while. The tables were sticky and so were the floors. The decor seems a bit outdated. Don't go here if you have an hour lunch. It will not be enough time for you to eat. We got there around 2:07 and didn't get our food until 2:40. 10 minutes to eat a very hot soup is neither feasible or safe, lol. I love that it's a family-run establishment. There was a young school-aged girl who served us. She must've been on spring break. She did make a mistake on our order. I had initially ordered one thing but then changed my mind and went with something else. She ended up bringing both. I wasn't going to send it back or ask to take it off the bill, because I felt bad. So, I just asked her if she could please pack it to go. Which she did. We ordered some calamari, which we all liked. My daughter and I ordered some soups, I don't remember what they were called. They were lacking a bit in flavor. My son ordered the Pad See Ew, which also didn't seem like it was seasoned enough compared to others we have had. I do think I'll give this place another try. Hopefully it was just an off day.

The inside is pretty small, there is also seating outside the store but still inside the mall. Ordering was pretty simple, QR code. They also have kiosks for you to order to go. The parking situation for the mall really depends on time of day. There are a lot of spots, but most of them may be taken if you go during a popular meal period. They also offer frozen dumplings, but we didn't get any. I ordered the juicy pan fried pork dumplings and the shredded potatoes with chopped chilis. We also ordered dumplings, I don't recall which as I didn't do the ordering. The dumplings were good, your average dumplings. The potatoes were warmer than I was expecting but not bad. Overall, food was good, didn't stand out but no complaints. Service was good too. I would come back in the future.

We ordered the Mini Pan Fried Pork Bun, Leek with Shrimp, Pork Dumplings, and Sichuan Hot & Spicy Dumplings. If you like a thicker, chewier texture, you will probably enjoy their dumplings, since most of them were in thicker wrappers. If not, this place might not be for you. I personally prefer thinner wrappers, but their fillings were delicious and flavorful! I would not recommend the pan-fried pork bun, though. Because the bottoms were not cooked crispy enough, and the crust was too thick with a doughy texture.

Hidden gem in El Sobrante that serves up some of the best Laotian and Thai food in the Bay Area…read more Every time we visit, must-orders are the Nam Khao (crispy rice ball salad with fermented pork sausage and fresh herbs) and Ka Soy (Laotian noodle soup). If you see Nam Khao on the menu of a Laotian/Thai restaurant, that means they know what they are doing just because it's so labor-intensive to make a salad(!) and the fermented pork has to be damn-near perfect for this salad to really shine and round out the fresh herbs and seasonings which includes lime juice, vinegar, and fish sauce. Ka Soy (the noodle soup) is a comfort food enjoyed in Southeast Asia. It's not the Thai-style where it's a curry broth and the noodles are fried, so let's not get it mixed up. Instead, it's bone broth that been simmered for hours and it's somewhat a lighter broth. The noodles are wide rice noodles in a big bowl of hot broth served with a mixture of ground pork cooked down with tomatoes along with fresh bean sprouts, scallions, and cilantro - simply a divine noodle soup that a must-try. It's not overly complex in terms of flavor, but it's a bowl of good ol' noodle soup that is comforting and great-tasting. If you haven't tried Laotian food, give Sue's Kitchen a try. try some new flavors and you may just become a regular (if you aren't already). The owners are friendly too! It's a husband-and-wife team!

We are the only customer when we arrived. Very pleasant not overpowering jazz mood music plays. Our server has a very pleasant demeanor. We have Taiwan beef noodle soup. Nice and hot the way it should be. Perfect to my tongue textures of the beef cubes and egg noodles. The beef broth was amazing. At the end of our meal I was full. Too full to the point that I almost cried that I couldn't drink the last gulps but it was too small a portion to warrant taking home. Our Kung Pao chicken? Delicious. Chock full of chicken bites and delicious vegetables. Somehow the plentiful peanuts set my taste buds acraving. Wow wow Pao tasty. The only miss with this was that it was brought to us on a coldish serving plate. A common mistake. We didn't get to try this dish hot. We are now wanting our bill. Seems like long time wanting. To our dismay, our friendly server got herself enmeshed in an on again off again conversation with someone at another table shortly after we arrived. Then she disappeared for a while. We are tempted to guess the bill amount (turns out we guessed wrong by $1), leave cash on the table and walk out. Instead I get up and she appears at the register. Magic. We pay proper like and walk out respectfully. I wouldn't mind coming back.
