My wife visited last night with a friend. She had a little too much to drink and didn't feel fine driving, so she left her car there. It closes at 12 and they Towed the car at 3am according to the tow report. I am baffled, in order to not get your car towed, this establishment condones drunk driving. This was our first time dining at D'vine. My husband thought it would be a great date night. We were able to chose were we wanted to sit, which was nice. We waited over 5 minutes for someone to greet us. It happened to be the same person we encountered upon entering the restaurant. He asked what we wanted to drink, we gave our order and I had to ask his name, as he did not introduce himself. Daniel took our drink and appetizer order. We did not see him again until after our entrees were served. He had another table in our section and tended to this couple regularly. We waited for an extended time for our check to arrive. I look around and I saw Daniel at the bar talking to a customer that he seemed to know very well. We paid our bill and left. The only good thing about our service was the young lady who filled our water and removed our plates. She provided more attention to us than Daniel. We came in for a quick glass of wine and conversation after some Christmas shopping. We were Covid compliant with our masks. We made our way to the bar, and 2 empty seats, and we sat. Here's my break down: 5 stars for the food - omg good. 4 stars for the service - our waitress was very attentive, almost TOO much 3 stars for the wine itself - we actually sent back the first bottle 2 stars for the two creeps who tried to buy us wine and made kissy faces 1 star for the guy who told us he was giving us a $25 bottle that was $42 All those things combined ends up at 3. The vibe of this place has a nice vibe in terms of the lighting and the decor. There was a band with a woman singing Norah Jones. This place was just great my girlfriend and I decided to go there to meet for dinner and drinks and chose this spot which we both had never been we both love wine and this spot couldn't have been a better choice!! The staff was great and come to find out, it's family owned and they were very humble we got to meet David, Jan, Louis and Daniel! David was so awesome he definitely catered to us!! I'm surprised this place isn't on Yelp prior to this review. First off it's not just a wine bar, even though the wine bar is the part I went for. I can't tell you how any of the food tasted but I can sure say that everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. Including the huge 30+ oz bone-in Rib Eye that I saw come out of the kitchen. The wines are a bitch pricey, but the quality matches IMO. They aren't serving what's on the "For Sale" table at HEB. The menu has over a dozen wine flights, split amongst white, red, and 1 flight for champagne. Flights were roughly $13-$19 depending on which one you went with and they all came with a card describing the 3 wines in your flight. The descriptions were a couple of sentences describing the aromas and flavors of each wine and I'd say they were spot on. I went with 2 other people, we each had 2 flights and then 2 port wines and 1 desert. The bill was about $45/person which had a bit of a sticker shock, but when you consider that each of us had 6 different wines and a couple of ports, it's not that bad. Additionally I felt their wine flights were healthy pours. Each glass was more than a taste, and slightly less than full single glass. For the desert wine lovers they did offer a Riesling flight and the menu had about half a dozen Moscato's and Ice Wine's and half a dozen different Port's. read more

Am I gonna bring down the current 3-1/2 star rating? Yep! I came here with Adrianne H. on a lazy Saturday night. They weren't as busy as the inner loop wine bars, so that was nice. I had a half glass of the Malbec and she had the Chianti. She liked hers better, but I thought the Malbec was pretty good for a dry wine. At starting prices of $6/half glass, they're definitely not cheap. Pricey wine ain't no thang, but the food and the service were definitely off. So, I had the margherita pizza ($12). Yuck! One of the worst pizzas I've eaten. Cracker crust, thick layer of spicy red tomato sauce...blech. I tried the rotisserie chicken pizza ($13) and was disgusted by it as well. It had a pesto sauce, which was preferable than the spicy red sauce, but the rotisserie chicken had an odd taste and seemed very out of sync with the rest of the pizza. It definitely felt like money poorly spent getting those pizzas. The service, as Adrianne mentioned, did turn sour. For one thing, we had four different servers the entire evening. You'd think with all the attention we'd be able to get our bill promptly, or place our order sooner...nope. The "full" wine glass debacle was the result of our "main" (?) waiter pouring my glass, and his quiet shadow pouring Adrianne's glass. It was d'Vine's fault that the glass was overpoured, not the customer's fault, so we shouldn't be expected to pay for the mistake. The waiter's snippy attitude about it was unnecessary. You could tell he wasn't even trying to be friendly after that as he took our signed receipts right after we set them down. That was the only prompt part of the service, ha. Would I come back? I guess...but only due to lack of options in the area and b/c I really wanted to try one of their dessert wines. But, as I'm sure you can tell, I wouldn't really put up a convincing argument to persuade someone else to come here. read more

I always forget to check in here, it must be because once I walk in & take a seat my visit is always great. The staff is always super helpful; from being indecisive & helping pick wine or helping decide what I want to eat. They always make me & my guests feel welcome. I cant believe the other place in Cypress has better reviews. I choose this place, any day. To be more specific, the flights are great, the menu is tasty, & dessert is top notch. We were a party of 8 people celebrating a friends b'day. We were seated in the side room and good thing we were. We were able to be loud, the service was fantastic, the music was so good we were able to get a few dances in (created our own little dance floor in the corner of the side room), and the service, as always, fantastic. We have been here one other time and each time have never been disappointed. Oh, and their wines, we thoroughly enjoyed our selections. My husband went there tonight to order some Caprese salad. He was told by the owner the kitchen was closed but she would make two salads for him. The thought was nice but either leave it at the kitchen being closed or actually serve what you normally would. We've eaten there before and the caprese salad didn't look like what we received this evening. If you're going to do something don't do it half way. The food is amazing! Everything is presented well and tastes wonderfully. However, we've been here twice and both times experienced service that could have been better. There aren't that many people working there... it seems to just be two men and a woman. The two men seem to be the only servers and that can be difficult to do when it's crowded in there. The first time we went, there were only maybe three tables filled and it took a while for us to get drink or food orders. The second time we went, it was more crowded and still just two men serving. We were seated quickly, but without menus. Then I just got up and got the menus myself. That's when someone noticed us and started to talk to us. After that it kinda went well? Just seemed a bit too much for two people to be handling. I wish they would hire more people. These two men seem to also be handling the bar area. Again, food is amazing! I have been struggling with writing this review since I went to D'vine on Saturday; I can't say that I have ever been to a wine bar that I just had no desire to ever return to and that I wasn't impressed with really...well anything. It was all just...Average. And a wine bar that is just average, well, that's bellow average for a wine bar. In other reviews people mention the interior design. While it is darkish and moderish, this was the least cozy or intimate wine bars I have ever been in. It was built in such a way that the acoustics amplify sound, not dampen it, so the chances of a nice conversation are nil. Either the place will be so busy that you can't hear a word your friends are saying, or it is so empty that you are afraid to speak because everyone in the place can hear you. There is an outdoor patio that is almost great. Almost. See, we are in Houston where being out in the sun more than 10 minutes could melt your face. If you build a gorgeous patio, go ahead and build some shade and some fans into it while you go. This place had nothing of the sort. While it was a beautiful day, we couldn't say outside or face fisticuffs with the sun. Now the wine selection...wow. Ok, one of my favorite parts about going to a wine bar is trying new wines. You know, the ones you can't buy at Target. Sadly, the way I felt reading their wine flight and by the glass menu was that I was sitting in the furniture section at Target while the red shirts were bringing by shopping baskets full of this weeks special. Not only was the selection of wine incredibly boring, the price was incredibly high for what you were getting. I don't mind paying 15 bucks for a flight, but not if that flight includes clos du bois. The menu was more than complete, and the food actually was pretty good, but the prices? Holy crap..."small plates" at $12 a piece? We have so many amazing tapas places in Houston, go to one of those places and for $12 you get 2-3 small plates. And the cheese plate? Again, HOLY CRAP. Very over priced for what you get. So as far as wine bars go, I am giving this place a star for the service which was good and a star for the food which was good, but seriously...this is not a wine bar I would ever go to again unless they made some pretty significant changes. Maybe try going to some other wine bars and seeing what they are doing right before just taking what appear to be some wild stabs at the right way to do it. read more

It had been over a year since I darkened the doors of this place since I am a regular at another nearby wine bar. What I remembered about the place was a great ambiance if not a slightly pricey wine menu. Those things certainly haven't changed but how did I forget how good the food is? I have been three times in the last few weeks and continue to be impressed with the menu selection and the consistency of what I order. From the roast lamb, fish and the awesome asparagus appetizer and the great personal service, I can see why this place is drawing bigger crowds. Whether you want to meet friends on the patio for a glass, sit at the bar or have an intimate date night, this place is firing on all cylinders. Make sure you ask for Clem or Daniel when you come in. Oh, lets not forget about the wine list. A pretty extensive offering when considering the Cypress location. You will be hard pressed not to find something you like, either by the glass or the bottle. I'm only giving 1 star because their fig and pear flat bread is so delicious. DO NOT go here if you are a minority person of color. I've come about 4 times served by different bartenders and servers and I noticed a pattern that was constant no matter who helped me. It took on average about at least 10 minutes to get anyone to look my way. Every time i was seen by staff so they knew i was there. But when white people came in, they received service in seconds and frequent follow up service to them. If I wanted anything I always had to ask. It was this way every time I went there. Funny enough, when I asked for my check today the bartender gave it to me so quickly that I have to believe it was intentional so I could leave. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt but apparently the staff only values service from white people. I have no problem taking my business elsewhere. Every time I've gone here I've left at least 20% tip, although I justifiably should have left nothing. I will say that this place is 99% white patrons so I'm now convinced that they intentionally keep it that way. I can honestly say that I've given this place a fair chance but I won't be going back here ever again. read more

D'Vine is a much needed touch of class in an area filled with strip malls, wal-marts and bland chain restaurants. The wine selections are great and the service is top notch. Unfortunately the food coming out of the kitchen leaves much to be desired. This is the second time we've been to this place and overall we're happy with the experience. However this last time must NEVER happen again. Ever. We ordered the creme brulee for dessert; but what we got was far from it. If you're unfamiliar with the dish it's a custard made primarily of cream and eggs. It takes time set up before you can serve it with its famous brûlée which means 'burned'. What was served to us was a watery mess; like a pudding. It seems that they didn't bake it before refrigerating it. The brûlée was also very thin and didn't completely cover the ramekin. Fine, a fluke so let's try it again. Same. Again, same. Sadly the chef doesn't appear to know how to make a creme brûlée and didn't know what to do to make it right. Who cares though because the rest of the evening was great. Besides perhaps getting a better chef my only other bit of advice would be to make the atmosphere more into a lounge and less of a restaurant. Take some tables out and replace with couches. Some throw rugs would be nice too. It would reduce the noise level too. OH and that TV has GOT TO GO. There's plenty of sports bars down the road for TV. Live music? Jazz? read more

Hm... I wouldn't think I would give a wine bar 3 stars but I guess the day had to come :-(. I was really hoping to give this place 5 stars. Dangit d'Vine, dangit. First off, atmosphere and ambiance are really so wonderful at this bar. It is beautifully decorated with soft lighting, intricate light fixtures, and a private section for "lovers" to enjoy on the inside. Outside seating is really cute with outdoors lights, candles on tabletops, and even modern outdoor furniture. If you enjoy listening to Spanish guitar and relaxing music to unwind to, then you will absolutely love their music choices. Matches perfectly with the setting! I do think their wines are a little pricey but if you go ahead and get a half glass or as they call it, 'the taste', your wallet will be happy. Sadly, this is what contributes to my 3 stars. I asked for a taste of a specific wine and the girl poured me a full glass. When I received my receipt, the waiter was going to charge me for a full glass. I ended up explaining my reasoning for not paying full glass but rather half glass, and instantly my waiter's upbeat friendly attitude turned sour. WHATEVER, GET OVER IT. Another contribution was the chicken pizza and I was not a fan. Simply put, just wasn't good. My friend ordered the margherita pizza and seriously, a spicy tomato sauce? It just didn't go well. The cheese plate sounded good but $17 for a small plate? No thanks! Come for the half glass of vino while enjoying the beautiful weather outside. Amazing remodeling and terrific improvements have made this an excellent place to become a regular. The Lobster Risotto is incredible! The blackened pork chop over onion rings, the selection of cheeses, and the fondue are all great choices. The wine list has been expanded beyond any wine bar within 20 miles! I can't say enough about the wonderful staff that has had little turn-over in the last 3 years. Danny, Louis, and Amy are more attentive than any staff anywhere in the world. The VIP club with personal wine lockers is the best idea and beat deal anywhere in Houston. I could keep writing, but I would be here for the next few hours singing the praises of the great establishment. Staff is very knowledgeable about the extensive wine list and there is little turnover so you can actually get to know your wait staff. Great service, great ambience. The menu is impressive for a wine bar, including chicken piccata, pork chops, salmon and more. The cheese board tasted fine but appeared a little basic just being served on a white dinner plate. The servers are attentive and frequently filled our water glasses. It was pretty busy and loud for a Thursday evening, but that just proves it's a good place to pop in after work.
