I want to rate this higher but agree that the food is average. It is a fun local spot - make sure to order online, otherwise you're waiting at the window regardless. There isn't really seating or bathrooms, etc (but can walk to benches at nearby food trucks). Regardless, the food was tasty and the portions of meat were so generous. I had the chicken burrito bowl (wish I knew guac was an option...) but we also got a side of shrimp and it was HUGE.

We ate there twice while staying nearby. Parking can be tricky and they seem to stay busy but worth it. Very yummy flavorful tacos with loads of meat. Service friendly and fast. Highly recommend!

Hole in the wall spot with great food. There isn't much seating available, but your burrito will be ready in approximately 10 minutes.

I came here based on a recommendation from our shuttle driver at the Kona airport, and unfortunately it was a miss this visit. I ordered the chicken burrito and my fiancé ordered the burrito bowl with fish. The bowl was served in one of those tiny Dixie paper bowls..for $17! He ate it all and was still hungry. My burrito had way more food than his bowl. Unfortunately their Mexican rice is really not it...the grains of rice are huge and flavorless. The only thing that saved my burrito was the shredded chicken. It was moist and flavorful, and they didn't skimp on the amount they put in the burrito which I truly appreciate since taking any bite without the meat was super bland. No seating available, this is all to go style. Parking is easy since there's a parking lot right in front. It's easy to locate and is situated next to a small grocery store. I recommend you go grab some banana bread from the grocery store for dessert, you won't regret it. All in all, I think there is better Mexican food on Kaua'i for the same price or less.

Food was good, but cold unfortunately. Nice folks, cool vibe, some benches around the store next door to eat if desired. Was just disappointed in the temp. No sour cream or guacamole on m8ne that would have cooled it. My wife had chicken, I had pork both burritos, we should have taken it back and heated them up.

The burritos here are delicious ! It's a walk up Mexican food place . Very tasty pretty quick for pickup ! Enjoyed the chicken burrito with salsa and rice !

Back on the island, back at da crack. Shrimp burrito was spectacular as always. Even my very picky 2 year old agrees. Da crack is the spot for your burrito dream cravings.

Such a great little spot. Great flavors and generous portions! Da Crack can hold its own against my local burrito spots in California. Would definitely go back again!

Decent Mexican food with some tasty seafood options. The walk up window is unassuming but the staff was helpful. This is literally a hole in the wall restaurant but the food they serve is pretty good. They don't skimp on the protein in the large burritos. We got a chicken quesadilla for our little one and she enjoyed the heavily marinated/seasoned chicken which was generously portioned for a kids meal. Although the meat (shrimp and fish) for our burrito was delicious the other toppings left some to be desired. The rice, beans and salsa were all a little uninspired and felt more like filler than flavorful additions. Either way, this made for a solid and filling meal.

Grab and go Mexican. Kauai was made for places like. If you're not on a beach you're on day trip. Finding a proper sit-down restaurant can be a burden so something quick always works. The food is satisfying and great when you're in a pinch. You won't be disappointed. Tacos and burritos.. Carne Asada..

A friend suggested I go to "Da Crack" for a great burrito when in Koloa. I am not going to lie, I initially thought it was going to be ordinary like Chipotle because the ordered process seemed kind of similar. They do a amazing job with their meats. The steak and the chicken were very flavorful. This is some good Mexican food "for Hawaii". I feel like the rice and tortilla could be better. Especially the rice. The portions that they give are very generous and it will leave you filled up! I can see why they call it da crack because it literally is in between a crack of the building. Got to love the Hawaiian slang. The staff were very friendly and you can tell this place gets popular with both the locals and tourists because we saw a mixture of both people in the line. If I lived out here, I would make this place, a place I would go to often for lunch if I lived by. As a tourist it's great to get some food if you are on your way to the blowing horn and want something good that will fill you up and not leave you feeling too heavy afterwards.

    Lots to choose from

If you spot a line in the parking lot of 2827 Poipu Road Koloa your in the right place. Don't let it deter you from getting one heck of a Mexican meal. It will want you going back for more. The menu has a lot to offer, ingredients are fresh, flavorful and I give the guac an A plus. So looking for a go to meal to enjoy beach side or back at your resort/hotel don't pass this up. Staff is friendly and service is fast.

Love this hole in the wall carry out only spot! Carry out window is located at the corner of a local grocery store. I got a carne asado burrito and my wife ordered shrimp bowl with a side of guacamole. Generous portion sized and great flavor. They even have nice salsa options. We ordered and enjoyed our food at the hotel. Great value and good food!

We didn't have time to eat then, but thought we should check it out the following year when we'd returned to Kauai. Fast forward one year, we were excited to finally try this restaurant but were so disappointed. We ordered the daily specials, carnitas Taco & Enchilada and Chile Rellenos & Enchilada combos. I could taste a faint frozen foods taste from the Chile rellenos, and the enchiladas sauce from cans! Not good! I got home and had the worst stomachache. The young server was impolite, not once did she come ask how the food was. After she dropped off the electronic credit card scanner, she said I needed to add my phone no. if I wanted a receipt since the WiFi was out. I entered my no, but did it too fast and missed a number, when I tried to re-enter, it went all the way back..this young server scolded me and said, "I told you, you only need to add your number!" I told her I did but it skipped a number, and she grabbed the scanner and roller her eyes! The other server printed brought me my receipt! Apparently there wasn't a WiFi issue anymore..;( I'd spend my money elsewhere for sure.

We were seated directly under a industrial fan used for the heat, but it was like 59 degrees so we asked if it could be turned off. We were told they can only turn it off it they turn off all the lights. So we asked if we could be moved to another table out of the way of the fan and were told no, this was the only table available. We sat down and the server immediately came over and asked for our drink order. We asked for a drink menu, so she brought one for five people. Then she stood at the bar staring at us until we decided. The drinks were delivered quickly and we're actually good. Next came the food order. Four menus for five people. Order placed for one taco salad, twelve street tacos, all chicken or steak, and one burrito. We asked if we could have chips and salsa, guacamole, and queso dip. One bowl of chips for five people, which we paid for two refills. Salsa was canned, guacamole was not fresh, and queso was bland. Taco salad was OK. Street tacos weren't what we expected and didn't have limes. They tasted ok and the meat was fresh. Burrito was messed up and they tried to lie and say that's how burritos are served and the green sauce was chilis. We found out it was cooked and served with ground pork. This was not advertised. Overall, they seemed bothered by us and we're talking about us in Spanish to each other. One of our party was fluent in Spanish. When we left, there were three people there with badges looking at some paperwork from the bar, which was very suspicious.

Something about it , was really neat looking. It was Asian ruined. I liked the music they were playing too. A little techno but that soon changed to country ugh. heheh. We were greeted right away and also seated the same. There were only a few tables taken up at this time since it was only half an hour since they had opened. The staff was really friendly and explained the specials and the favorite menu items. There was so much i wanted to try but there were only the wife and I. The wife got the pigs in a blanket. She said the eggs were cooked perfectly, nice and soft. Liked it I started with the special banana bread bites which were yummy. Then I got the pork hash and fried rice. It looked wonderful and tasted great. Loved it. I knew this was the place to go for a fantastic breakfast. We loved it so much we came here , I think 3 or 4 times during our stay. If we lived here they would call us by name. Next time we got the All about the Bennys. The wife got it with pork belly and it didn't disappoint. so good. I had to try the pancakes so I got one Lilikoi It was so yummy and flaky the wife didn't care for the roasted macadamia nuts but I liked them roasted. Had to get the Loco Moco your way. So I got the shaved prime rib. Wow so perfect. Loved the flavor and it sure hit the spot. Next day the wife got the two eggs with bacon and a crispy shredded potatoes which were amazing. Loved the crunchy potatoes. It was her favorite. I got the crispy pulled pork sandwich and it was just ok , it was kind of dry and I had to ask for bbq sauce to get it down. Won't get that again. And of course another Lilikoi pancake. Last trip the wife got the two eggs and bacon with the crispy potatoes. I got the Loco Moco with the beef patty this time. Of course another Lilikoi pancake. Till the next time we are back in Kauai. We will be back. Funny now the staff welcomed us back because we went there so many times. Love the food. A most stop at place.

Ironically, the butterfish ended up being one of the most memorable dishes of the trip and for all the wrong reasons. The misoyaki butterfish was so overwhelmingly fishy that we genuinely struggled to eat it. And I don't mean "this tastes like fish" fishy. I mean the kind of fishy where every bite makes you increasingly aware that perhaps you should stop taking bites. The short ribs were unbelievably fatty...easily the fattiest we've ever had. There was so much fat that after a few bites, we just couldn't stomach them anymore. So now we had two entrées in front of us, could barely eat either one, and were both disappointed and somehow still hungry. Which is how we ended up ordering the chocolate soufflé. Not because dinner had earned dessert, but because we still needed dinner. The soufflé was fine. Fairly basic, but at that point "edible" was a major improvement, so we happily ate it. We also ate at Red Salt on this trip and weren't particularly impressed there either, but Eating House 1849 was worse. At least Red Salt had good sushi. I genuinely don't understand the glowing reviews for Eating House. The location is great and the atmosphere is fun, but neither was enough to make up for how disappointing the food was.
