Cute beer garden, perfect for big groups. We were celebrating a friend's engagement. Loved the fried pickles (whole pickles, which was interesting,) the fries, and soft pretzel. Good bar food. Also, great nitro bar coffee if you don't drink.
My boyfriend and I went to Dacha Beer Garden (Shaw) for an afternoon date and it was such a vibe. The patio was full but still felt cozy and fun lots of energy without feeling chaotic. The sunlight coming through the big windows and umbrellas made everything feel warm and relaxed. It's definitely one of those spots that feels very DC weekend.We ordered the giant pretzel with cheese and mustard and it was SO good soft, warm, perfectly salted, and ideal for sharing. The fries were crispy and seasoned just right. We also tried a couple of beers (the grapefruit one was especially good and refreshing), and everything paired perfectly with the food. It's casual but still cute enough to make it a real date. You can sit, talk, enjoy your drinks, and not feel rushed. I'd absolutely come back, especially on a sunny day. Perfect for daytime dates, meeting friends, or just enjoying good vibes in Shaw.
Stopped in before the recent Nats series against the Phillies to "pre-game" (excuse the pun). Directly across the street from the stadium, good luck finding ANY street parking, so unless you live in the area, do yourself a favor and take the Metro to the Navy Yards neighborhood. Dacha Beer Garden is an interesting set-up. Walk up to the host stand and get your hand stamped before gaining entry to the dining area; more on the hand stamp later. The interior is ginormous and the "walls" are heavy duty plastic with the center of the room having an open ceiling for natural lighting. This being summer, it was a thousand degrees, but all of the fans on the highest setting, did a good job of circulating the air. Dacha does have one of the better Happy Hour deals for DC (see picture for current specials). I came with a large group of 10+, so we all ordered a bunch of items to share. I sampled the blood orange hefeweizen, which was slightly citrusy and added brightness to the smooth wheat beer. The fried shrimp was surprisingly delicous and tasted quite fresh. I was expecting reheated previously frozen and heavily battered shrimp; but this was not the case. Each piece had a nice snappy bite and lightly battered with good seasoning. I would've liked more of the dipping sauce, but a squeeze of the roasted lemon gave some needed acidity. Also snacked on some of the curry wurst, which tbh was waaay too sweet. Fries were good though and not soggy. Service was a bit slow, but to be expected since I only observed three servers for the entire dining space. The runners did an admirable job of delivering food/beverages after we placed our orders. Regarding the hand stamp, the restrooms are located directly across the courtyard at Jackie (https://www.yelp.com/biz/jackie-washington-4?osq=jackie%27s). So you'll need to show the host at Jackie the hand stamp to use the facilites and then again to return to Dacha. Even if I wasn't in Navy Yards for a Nats game, I would return to the Dacha Beer Garden. We all had an enjoyable experience, but the only slight detraction is the non-Happy Hour prices are on the higher side. But this is only a minor gripe since that's any place in 2025 when dining out. Of course, Dacha is expected to be loud, service somewhat slow, and usually crowded. All the things a good beer garden should be.
We went here with a group for drinks and lunch on a Sunday. They had reserved a double table for us, which we found easily and took over for several hours. The vibe there was very friendly and chill, and we never felt rushed. I had met friends for brunch before I came, so I only had drinks (several tasty espresso martinis), but most of our group also had sandwiches or salads and enjoyed them. There was an extensive beer menu, and our group tried quite a few. This was a great place to spend an amazingly good-weather afternoon.
We went here last night for dinner and drinks. The atmosphere was fun and they had college sports on the tvs. We had the pulled pork sliders and the chicken quesadillas. The pulled pork sliders were very tasty, the pickled onion added great flavor! The chicken quesadillas were good as well, though the chipotle mayo had dill in it. We will be back again soon!
Mission to pick-up Race Stuff for Cupid's Undie Run Every year, I try to run and rise money at this fun run and charity event called, "The Cupid's Undie Run." NF is a disease that causes tumors in children's brains, it affects their lives and impacts their families. This night, I made the trip to Dacha Beer Garden in DC to pick up my race t-shirt, race number and race related swag. They had us pick it up at this charming beer garden. I enjoyed a pretzel and a beer that night. It's a dog friendly place, being semi-outdoors (as it's was in a tent-like structure) and we meet several furry friends of the four-legged kind. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. My friend is a huge dog lover, so we made the plan to return with our beloved dog friend, Bailey. We will get the chance soon, when I have to once again pick up my race material for the upcoming 2025 Cupid's Undie Run.
Surpassed what I expected!! I was so shocked. I thought I'd be getting basic bar food, but the food was amazing! They give really good portions. The ambiance was great! It's a nice warm weather spot to hangout with friends. Two of my friends even brought their babies. The service was good for such a packed and busy spot.
A must stop place in DC if you are looking to get a quick bite and drinks. Great happy hour or lunch spot. The place is mostly outdoors, near the water and has a really cool setup to it. My wife and I split the pretzel and beer cheese. I'm not sure what they put in the beer cheese, but it was the best tasting cheese I have ever had. It went perfect with the massive pretzel we got with it. The pretzel itself was also delicious. Both of our beers were great as well. Will definitely stop back next time in town!
Absolutely Unacceptable Billing Practices at Dacha Beer Garden, 79 Potomac Ave SE, Washington, DC 20003. 2 (two) $108 holds on a single bill! On Sunday, May 25, I took my parents out to what I expected to be an enjoyable meal at Dacha Navy Yard -- instead, I was met with what can only be described as an outrageous and irresponsible mishandling of my bank account. When we ordered, the server asked for a card to "hold" the bill. I handed over my card, assuming this was a formality. What I was not told is that Dacha would immediately place a $108.79 hold on my bank account. After the meal, my father and I split the bill, and I paid my portion -- only to discover shortly after that a second $108.79 hold was placed, in addition to the actual charge for my part of the meal ($87.42 after tip). I now had $217.58 held and $87.42 charged, all on a bill that was supposed to be around $130 total. That's $396 charged or held on a simple meal. My bank account went negative by over $200, all because of this restaurant's opaque and careless billing system. I returned that evening to voice my concern and was told to "wait for it to drop off." I followed up again on Tuesday, only to be told the same thing. I've been texting with an assistant manager, provided a picture of my receipt and bank statement, and at first tried to blame my bank. CapitalOne's fraud department is investigating the transaction informing me that it is the restaurant that has set the pending charge. CapitalOne also told me that typically they wouldn't investigate such a transaction so soon, but because of such a discrepancy, they opened the case immediately. The management also told me that this is an ongoing issue and then I'm not alone with this problem. I wonder if anyone reading this also had this problem?! Why in the world would a restaurant place two $108 holds on a $130 bill? This isn't a luxury hotel or a car rental agency, it's a beer garden. I've eaten here before, and the hold was $25, which to be honest is a bit high, but was reconciled as soon as I cashed out. This time, however, the restaurant's mishandling caused a negative balance in my account and over $200 in funds unavailable for several days (and at this time still hasn't been reconciled). This is not just inconvenient, it's financially irresponsible and unacceptable. While I had previously enjoyed visiting Dacha, this incident has completely soured the experience.

We came here after work for drinks. The outside seating area is nice and open, and the fans blow a refreshing mist on you. Their selections are good, and for a non beer drinker like myself who is there because everyone else does drink beer, they have two ciders on tap too! As appetizers we had the giant pretzel and fried pickles. The pretzel stole the show. A tad pricey, but it's huge, served warm, and it's fluffy tasting. It comes with mustard and cheese sauce. I have never heard of this place if it wasn't for another bar being too crowded for me and my friend to wait for. As we were heading to the other bar in our Uber, I noticed the lights and the large mural of Elizabeth Taylor just above the covered establishment. When we decided we didn't want to wait in line for the other bar, I recommended that we just walk over to the place that we passed just minutes ago. It was only a few blocks away and boy was it a cold night! As we approached, we finally realized that it was a bar! A gentleman carded us as we entered and noticed that it was open seating. Since the garden was outside, they had heaters all over which made it nice and cozy. The bar in the center, had a nice set up with many choices of beers on draft and regular to boot sized glassware. We sat more towards the back and someone from staff approached us to take our drink orders. The menu is front and back, one side with all drinks and the back with food. The server was nice enough to recommend drinks to us and we got them pretty fast! The food choices were really good, too. You have items such as appetizers, side dishes, and entrees. My friend and I went with the pull-porked sliders, mac n cheese, and the sea salt fries. All was delicious! I especially enjoyed the fries and couldn't stop eating them. It also came with their own ketchup which was a little too sweet for my liking, but still good nonetheless. The garden has much more to offer such as themed nights (the night we were there was bring your furry friend day!), and I do believe they have brunch hours, too. The bathrooms were clean which is a major plus and even with the furry babies around, everywhere else was neat and tidy. I'm glad we came at this time of year because the holiday decorations made the place really beautiful! This is a great place to check out anytime of the year! I like this place right next to my hair salon. I love a good Bratwurst and Beer. Dacha has a little something for everyone for a chill outdoor occasion.They specialize in German, Belgian and American brews, but also carry ciders, wine, and gluten free beer. A Brat costs you $8, a tasty high quality sausage on a warm soft pretzel bun, but wait! Where are the grilled onions and peppers? Now this to me is like offering fries with no ketchup the two just go together. Bartender told me they used to carry onions, but for whatever reason don't anymore. This is a bit problematic, so next time I'll spring for a chicken schnitzel sandwich or a burger. The weekly beer specials run $5 and $6, which makes this scene a little more cooler for me, aside from the IZOD clad prep trying to impress his friends with casually mentioning that he has a $6,000 mortgage. If you can get past a little of the pretension that has invaded DC, this place ain't so bad. read more
Q: Who drinks Bourbon at a beer garden? A: This girl apparently. I came here for brunch with a bunch of my sorority sisters I haven't seen in years and had the best time! Dacha is apparently THE dog friendly place to go to grab a beer and a bite on the weekend, and as such I made sooooo many new furry friends I lost count of them all. I seriously could have just stayed there all day loving on everyone's puppies, but that's borderline creepy, so I tried to stick to my own pre-existing group of humans as best as I could. First of all, what a great space! It's the perfect spot to assemble a big group, if you get there early enough to snag a good seat. Another perk is that while it's outdoors, everything is covered. So you get all the perks of enjoying a beautiful spring day without having to worry about frying in the sun. Then there is the forever long list of beers. It was actually a little overwhelming for my slightly hungover brain, which is how I ended up with Bourbon I suppose. The Shawny was damn good though, so I have no regrets there. Most of my sisters got bottomless mimosas, which are on tap and I observed that the people that do this do not mess around. Lots of servers are floating around with pitchers of the them and will top you off when you get low. Actually, I was talking to one of the bartenders as I was closing out my tab around 3, and apparently they have already kicked 2 kegs of mimosa in a 4 hour time span! That's nuts! Lastly, everyone there was so nice! I was amazed, even when it got crazy busy, the bouncer, the staff and the other patrons were all super sweet. The whole section we were in even joined in singing happy birthday to my gf when we busted out cupcakes for her. I loved everything about it! read more

If you are in DC and want a place to day drink, this is the place! There beer is very good, but I am not giving this place a 5 star for just there tasty beer but for how they serve it. They have the infamous boot! Don't take this boot lightly, you will get wasted off of these if you don't drink them moderately. The male bathroom is cool experience also, you can now pee and wash your hands at the same time. Other than the bathroom and the boot beer, there happy hour is worth the hype. This is my first time here and I didn't even know what a beer garden was. My friend Nick suggested we stop here and I'm glad I did. I'm not a beer drinker so if you're like me- we are out of luck. There's nothing that beer here (insert laugh track here). There was some flavored beer that didn't taste like the regular tasting beer. You know, like "dirty socks". || PAUSE. Before all of you beer drinkers attack me remember the first time you taste the beer it wasn't so great. Well it's like that for me all the time. If you know of a good tasting beer (that won't get me fat) please comment. I don't know if I was overly frugal (trying to get the most for my $), suffering from heat exhaustion, or had a taste for venture, but I was pretty ambitious in ordering a boot. ITS HUGE! I should have ordered the pint. My stomach was pretty upset at me. It was a struggle trying to finish that boot but I did it. I just like the feel of Dasha. Like most places in DC, when it's crowded it's easy to spark a conversation with a complete stranger and after 20 minutes you feel like you've known each other for a while. At least two days. There's a lot of seating but it get snatched up quickly and then you have to stand which isn't too bad. I didn't see where you can order food but I did see people eating hotdogs. Overall I would try the place again. Mainly for socializing. There was nothing extremely special about Dasha. If you're hey Beatrice incur will probably give this place for five stars but for us non beer drinkers we might not want to have this be a top pick on out "Going Out" list. read more

From always biking past here, I am so happy I finally got to experience the magical beer garden called Dacha! Just looking at the large Audrey Hepburn painting, you know this place trying to bring sexy back! With a large assortment of beers, messes, cider, and bar bites, Dacha is definitely the best mid afternoon, happy hour, dinner, post party scene! I am more of a beer person and definitely suggest getting the Vitus (best beer they have personally) or the Radler (grapefruit beer on the lighter side!). Even though the boots are tempting, if you want to try different beers, just get the half liter and you won't regret it! On top of their amazing selection, there is a lot of seating and standing room. Takes a little time to get seating at a picnic table, but its not impossible! Also, don't get intimidated by the lines to get in, you'll get in to get your drink on no matter what! The bar tenders are super nice and try to serve you as fast as you can - shout out to Boxty for understanding that MY THIRST IS REAL. With the beautiful lighting and Audrey In the background, this place is great for hawt social media! And also they post great deals and happy hour specials on their fb that are pretty funny!! Who can pass up 10 dolla boots of pils during happy hour?!? I know I can't!! read more

Came here with friends for a happy hour and loved it. Had been here before and forgotten how much I love it. The place has all outdoor seating but care and consideration has been taken to ensure comfort. There are numerous fans and spritzers. There is a movable canopy (it rained and I did not get wet). Gorgeous fresh flowers and plants line the walls. I was there on a Friday night which is Dacha's Bring Your Dog to Work. Thus, there were a few dogs enjoying the atmosphere. Beer selection and knowledge of the servers was extensive. In addition to beer, there were two hard cider selections, wine, and cocktails. Loved the Liz glasses my cider and water came in!! I got the Bold Rock Rose Cider 6.0%. I would get it again. Food was very good. I started with the big pretzel. It was awesome. Huge. Easy to share. Perfect bread consistency and served with a tasty beer cheese sauce; mustard was part of a condiment tray on the table. I will order this every time I go there! We also split the sausage platter which had three kinds of sausage, toasted slices of baguette bread, fingerling potatoes, pickles, sauerkraut, and sauce served on a cutting board. I liked it. Lastly, we split the poutine; I didn't try it but my friends liked it. Service was impeccable. A dirty glass did not sit abandoned one minute before being whisked away. Ordering another drink or more food was super easy by the constantly roaming servers. Getting the check was fast and it was done high tech with an iPad. I want to come back for brunch. read more

I've been going to dacha for five years. I've always gone for their drinks and over time started having their food and now their breakfast! I really like this neighborhood joint. I will admit the egg white turkey bacon and arugula on multigrain wasn't amazing, but I think it's because it wasn't that great of a combo to begin with! Okay this is such an adorable bar. First of all, it's literally under the night sky in a tiny corner in the busy streets of DC. Also, there are dogs everywhere! Seriously everywhere you turn you see adorable dogs! How can you not love that? Also they have a large selection of beers that are fairly priced. I got the grapefruit beer which was so delicious. It was sweet and had a strong grapefruit taste. If you are not a fan of sweet beer there are other options for you. I would definitely go back here! read more

Great environment, space set up, and drink list. This is the perfect place to go with a group of friends for drinks of any occasion. When I went there was a lot of people but it didn't feel too cramped and at times it was a little hard to hear my friends but that comes with any busy place. I thought their drink list offered a great range of types of drinks and sizes. I ordered the grapefruit radler and thought it tasted great! My second drink was the rosé cider which was also good. I wasn't overly impressed by there food/snacks menu. I understand it is modeled after a Bavarian beer garden but the quality of what we ordered could have been better in my opinion. If i'm back in DC, I would definitely return for a drink. read more

Quaint beer list with a style for everyone, speciality glasses included! Employees are nice, with just enough personality and small talk to make you comfortable... And then want to stay for hours! Still in a transitional phase; bathrooms are portajohns and lighting after dusk is by streetlight. Bring your highest rated bug spray and be sure to have a safe transit plan for getting home! Also, bring your pets -- leashed friends with tails are welcome! Will be back to see how this place shapes up -- can't wait to see how development in this area turns out! read more
When they say that DC is the most European city in the U.S., I think this place is a reason why (and why they get five stars). Open-air, communal tables, and a relaxed pace of dining sum it up. On a recent visit, there was a table full of mothers with babies, with a couple in their 70s joining. At another table there were two dogs dressed up as if drinking their boots of beer, causing a commotion. Beyond the ambiance, the chicken schnitzel sandwiches had sauerkraut that wasn't overpowering (we split one), and Dacha has different dips to go with pretzels and potatoes. This was my first time here & it's such a great place to grab a drink & watch the game! Their outdoor area is totally covered and super warm during these cold winter nights. Our server, Jordan, was so attentive & amazing too! I'll definitely be coming back soon -- if not every week! read more

This would be a 3 star review but Dacha has Weihenstephaner Vitus on Tap. You get 2 stars just for that. Another star for the TVs. Another for the cool Restrooms. Location was great too. I have a problem with Dacha allowing people to bring DOGS INTO THE GARDEN! Listen. If you're a dog lover just make a choice: go out for a drink OR WALK YOUR DOG. Why do you HAVE to do both?! Don't mix the two. That's like taking a sht while eating. Each deserves its own time. Why should I have to walk into a place a suffer thru mangy mutts running amok, scratching and sniffing? F that! No restaurant or any establishment that serves food to HUMANS should allow dogs. I'm surprised this passes health codes....maybe because it's a Garden and "outside"? I noticed that about DC tho... People like bringing their dogs into stores and restaurants....and the mall! Not everyone likes dogs. Dog lovers forget that point. Or they don't gaf. Dacha's food was kinda disappointing. I mean they present well but the sausages were awful. I think I can say that as a big German food/drink fan. The Baurenwurst was small and burned. The brat was greasy. The potato salad was small halved potatoes. Now that I think on it that was the best German Potato salad I've ever had. German potato salad just sucks. It's different everywhere and it sucks. I had fun though. I'd like to see Dacha in the Non-winter months. read more
Great place! We've been here plenty of times and it's always a great time. Their beer selection is a fantastic array of German beers that'll make you want to try them all! The food is good too, the brats are awesome. Also can't beat the outdoor venue, plenty of seating, definately a worthwhile place! read more
You come to Dacha for the beer, and stay for the ambiance! This is THE place to go in Shaw, and clearly everyone knows it. If the weather is nice, expect the crowds on any day of the week (especially weekends). That is both good and bad depending on what you're looking for. In terms of beer, there is a pretty wide selection, but the boots tend to be my go to for happy hour. At $14, they have been increasing in price for the past two years (in 2017 they were $12 and in 2016 they were $10). Last time I checked Shaw is not Zimbabwe circa 2008, so this sort of price increase is somewhat disappointing. That said, $14 will buy you a lot of beer and there is something to be said about drinking out of a boot glass. Really the reason I keep coming back to Dacha is the ambiance of the place. It's a perfect neighborhood spot to people watch, dog watch, and sit with your friends for hours on a lazy Sunday. read more

Nice place, awesome prices during happy hour. If it's raining bring an umbrella not all places will keep you dry. It's basically all outdoors so be warned. But it was a chill place with nice bartenders and patrons alike. read more
