The hash browns were far from good. The ketchup tasted sour. And my husband got scrambled eggs that were still very wet. I don't usually like writing bad reviews, but we felt like this place was pretty horrible and made us feel sick. This place is amazing!!!! Local spot with amazing breakfast and lunch options. The wait is LONG like extremely long but so worth it. The staff are all extremely friendly and even recommended we try their local shrimp which you can order by the piece (and we did!). We came to this diner for our last breakfast in Kauai. We had high hopes because of the 5 star reviews. Even ordered the yelp recommended dishes - Stuffed Shrimp Benedict and the Stuffed French Toast. We were not at all impressed with the food. First of all my sister's Stuffed Shrimp Benedict came served with a hair! She told the server and they took it back. 5 minutes returned with what looked like the same dish but said they made a new one. My Stuffed Shrimp Benedict had water inside the egg that popped and created a soupy mess. How does that happen? The shrimp also did not taste fresh and the color was black on the edges which indicates its old. My husband and brother had the Chicken & Waffles. It was all ok. My kids were content with the food so that's good. But I would not come back. The Auntie and Uncle who served us were nice enough. The other server lady seemed super friendly to touristy people. The pancakes were absolutely amazing--fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. You can tell really care about what they serve. Even better, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. We were originally put on wait list then the greeter realized there was a table open and directed us there. We placed the breakfast order quickly but they did not have any decaf coffee. The chicken waffle came out quickly but the local breakfast was on local time. We decided to eat the chicken and waffles while waiting. Finished the plate before the other plate came out. Loved this mom and pop place. Best breakfast on the Island so far. The bite of pancake my husband allowed was fluffy and delicious, don't even need syrup. But no syrup on pancakes would be suspect . Everything was cooked to perfection. The deluxe Saimin broth was so flavorful. We have ran in to a lack of salt in many dishes across the island, not at Daddy Os, they know how to season. Ordered a French Toast, Loco Moco and Big Daddy O's breakfast on a Wednesday morning. Wait outside was about 15 mins for 4 people. For $17, the French toast did not have much blueberry stuffing. Maybe for the cut fruit on it. Customer service is eh. An older man that was taking orders wasn't the nicest. He spoke to us as if we were bothering him by being there. Went here Wednesday morning at 10:20 AM and there was a wait!! No big deal, about 10 minutes and we were in. Sat promptly and then the service.... We sat down and asked for a moment to look over the menu. Another party of 4 (we a party of 2) was sat and served water and drinks. No big deal sometimes this happens, but this is where they failed. They returned with the 4 drinks for them and then again to take their order, all the while we were just being ignored in the corner. Table 7 must be a black hole in this restaurant. We waited so long being ignored that I had to go ask if we could have service. Upon asking, we had a gentleman come over immediately and took our food and beverage order. After taking our order we were forgot about again, ended up waiting so long for the food that the 4 seated after us had been served and ate their meals before one of our meals showed up. Yes, they brought the meals out separately so we could eat at different times, because that's why you go to a restaurant is to watch your friends/partner eat. Everything is throw away and cheap, paper plate, plastic thrifty fork and knife. So thrifty that the plastic knife broke on the second cut into the loco moco and splattered hot sauce/ketchup all over my partners white shirt, that he just bought in New York two weeks ago. The food was ok but nothing I'd rave about. Barely warm and the taste was nothing special. More fruit than bread with the French toast. No "blueberry cream cheese" (at least I didn't taste it at all) just cream cheese, and the powder sugar was two small clumps on one piece of the bread. The service was non existent and the atmosphere was just blah, they have a kitchen cooler by the entrance and a shelf lining the restaurant wall with kitchen ingredients. How is that not a Health Code violation? Please straighten out the single hanging picture you have because it do like that / Not worth going out of your way for. Over rated, over priced and under performing in almost every aspect. There are better places to have a meal that is better value. Also don't forget you get charge almost 4% for paying with a card.... Perhaps call Point Of Sale (POS) and get that merchant fee dropped. read more

Came in and was told by the old Asian guy to check in on Yelp on their iPad. There was a couple leaving while I was checking in so I figured the wait would be short because we were first in line. The lechon pork Harry spent 3 years perfecting was pretty damn Good!!! I wish I had a bowl of rice and two serving of that with his Filipino house sauce he made from fish sauce and vinegar. After finding out that I'm from the island of O'ahu he stated that he went to O'ahu and got all the best recepies hen made it better. That, I believe. You gotta try this place. On this visit I had the "Stuffed Shrimp Eggs Benedict". It does state on the menu that it is a "YELP" favorite. Braaah! "Broke da mout 'ono" (as we say here in Hawai'i). I have loved and enjoyed this little spot for years, even left perfect reviews and sent anyone coming to Kauai to it. Yesterday my experience was still tasty food but the prices have skyrocketed (as i am well aware they have gone up everywhere) but part of the allure was good food for great price. $3.50 for a cup of coffee? It aint island coffee, starbucks, caribou or better than any other restaurant coffee. My total was $23.51(cash) for 1 person ..which just a couple years ago was the total for my husband and I both to dine even if he got the most expensive plate. Yes, they do give a discount if paying cash. Service--not great not bad, but I had to keep trying to get their attention for coffee refills and its not like they had to do a lot for me other than that... a single person , who sat at a ready, open table and knew what she wanted upon arrival. I did not ask 400 questions or make any other requests as other tables. You also have to get up to go to the "coffee bar" if you want milk, or creamer, which they only have one of each kind but they no longer bring it to the table for you. They also only have sugar or Splenda, which is fine with me, I prefer sugar, but almost every one of their sugar packs was hardened or already split open which was kind of odd... I can understand the hard part being in a more damp environment not quite sure about most of them being already busted open. Leaving , I paid with cash, and just as I was getting ready to walk away, the tip which I had left on the table was thrown up on the checkout counter (to assuming is the owner )with a snide remark... Thinking I was not paying attention they made a comment that I had paid with and yes, I understand this is probably not "proper", but I had paid with a good amount of change, which was well over a dollar in coins plus added several dollars to go with that but going to markets and stuff getting change. I figured cash is cash and it all spends. A lot of people are happy to get coin, but these two seem to make fun of it... Maybe they don't like Tips or maybe they don't understand the idea of tips as so many now just think tips are a guarantee but the service I got yesterday I shouldn't have left the tip at all. Loved that there are plenty of good options on the menu, bit I went with the breakfast of champions the Kanaka breakfast plate. This had everything I was craving the bacon, spam, sausage, hash brown, egg, rice, toast and pancakes. Yesss it is too much for one person, but you can def share some with someone. Depending how hungry you are you might be able to eat the whole thing. I almost ate everything except for the pancakes and one ball of rice. My friend ordered the stuffed shrimp Benedict and loved it. She also had a side of boasted chicken and that was delish. Highly recommend this place for breakfast/ brunch. If I was rating this place on food alone, it'd be 5*, unfortunately I gotta ding Daddy O's on a couple of things. One, we felt very rushed to put in our order. They'd come and ask us every 2-3 minutes. I'm a very indecisive person. Give me 5 minutes to look your menu over, especially when you have so many goodies on it. Second, once our order was in, we then felt a little forgotten about. Our waters were never refilled, while the tables around us did get refills. To exacerbate this problem, the breakfast burrito my wife ordered was on the spicy side, and she needed water to calm the heat. Lastly, the restaurant feels hectic, we were seated closest to the kitchen and there were servers and ladies just sprinting in and out, and around us the whole time we were there. I started to get anxiety while eating because so much was happening next to our table. I'd definitely eat here again because the food was bomb. But I'd want to sit further away from the crazy-ness of the kitchen and hope I'm checked on a little more next time. read more

We stopped here for breakfast right after arriving in Kaua'i. It was near the airport, had decent reviews and we were starving. Upon arrival it wasn't busy and I watched the busser and waitress clean tables and serve water to the other patrons for about 10 minutes before even taking our drink order. These kinds of things make me nervous and slightly irritable because I have a 1 yo and 3 yo who don't sit still for long. So the longer we wait, the less time mama has to eat because the kids are ready to run out of their seats as soon as the food gets here. There are no high chairs, but they did have booster seats. After ordering, the food came out really fast! Even though the waitress got my order wrong, they fixed it and apologized for the mix up. The food was good, the kids loved the fruits on the stuffed French toast. It was a different take--stuffed with cream cheese. My husband loved the breakfast burger. I wasn't really sold on my order, damn I can't remember what it's called but I've had better at Liliha Bakery. I prob shoulda stuck with the veggie omelet they originally brought out--maybe that's why she got my order wrong, no one ever orders that dish! When I remember what it's called I'll update this post.
