This morning I woke up excited to try Daddy O's. Upon entering the restaurant we're greeted by an older Asian man that points and tells us to sit at an open table. We disregard the rudeness and have a seat. We're then greeted by a waitress with coffee and water. She was so nice I wish I got her name because she was definitely pleasant. The older Asian gentleman comes over to take our order. As Im speaking he disregards me and what Im asking for. Making me feel like im not a customer paying my money to eat in his establishment. My friend orders and he does the same thing. After he leaves i ask my friend if he felt the same way and we were in agreement. I would not patronize an establishment that clearly didn't want my money. We offered to pay for our coffee which was actually good and came to Kauai diner where the service was excellent. Our last hurrah before we leave paradise. We stopped by Daddy O's on our way to the airport. Daddy O's is conspicuously located in a strip mall in Lihue. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated in our tables. Browsing their menu, I instantly noticed and chose their chicken and waffles. Broasted Chicken and Waffles, mind you. The rest of the family ordered their usual Loco Moco. Not a few moments, our morning meals arrived. I immediately dug in to the broasted chicken and wonder, 'why would other chicken n' waffles houses not broast their chicken?' Ahh, the crunchiness and the juiciness of a broasted chicken is really imminent. The waffles were pretty good as well. The only regret I have is not ordering the larger portion. My party of five visited Daddy O's while visiting Kauai for a hiking excursion. We stopped by for some breakfast before heading out and we got to meet Harry, who we later found out his the owner. He is definitely the heart of the restaurant. He made us feel welcomed and at home, as if we never left Oahu. Majority of our party ordered loco moco's which was so ono! He recommended several dishes we should try and my husband being a restaurant chef himself, gave his approval on everything he tasted! If we didn't have the hike to go on, we would have just sat there till lunch time eating everything on the menu. The food is winners! This was our favorite spot on the island for breakfast. I had chicken and pancakes, I am not a waffle fan so I was allowed to change to pancakes. While looking for places to eat on Kauai, I came across this restaurant on Yelp called - Daddy O's. After looking over the fabulous photos & reviews that my Yelp buddies - Gail U. & Terry H. had posted, what really interest me about coming here were two menu items - 1. The Broasted Chicken Plate - that consisted of 2 or 3 perfectly frrrrrrried chicken thighs, a scoop of white rice, and your choice of mac salad or toss greens. 2. Stuffed French Toast - that consisted of 4 slices of Punaluu sweet bread that was sandwich with blueberry cream cheese filling, and topped with fresh fruit, whipped cream, and dusted with some powdered sugar. How's that sound???? Ya hungry for lunch or breakfast???? What a dilemma I was in..........what to do??? What to do???? At the end of the day, you folks that follow Bruddah Fran..........you know what I ended up doing!!! Yes, Bruddah Fran is "AUTOMATIC" and ended up with da Broasted Chicken Plate!!!! But in all honesty, ordering both dishes did run past my mind until I looked at my BIG STOMACH, which deterred me from ordering both dishes! Buwahahahahaha! What can I say about the grub??? As advertised...........the Broasted Chicken Plate is Legit Yo, and as stated on the menu that it was a "Yelp" favorite! You can now add Bruddah Fran to the list that would agree on this dish! The Frrrrrrried Chicken (or they say Broasted Chicken) was cooked to perfection! Not greasy at all. The skin was so crispy like a potato chip, yet the chicken meat was still left moist & juicy. Yum! Yum! With my Broasted Chicken, I elected to get the toss greens...........you know, just trying to off-set some of that frrrrrrried chicken! Lol! Service here was on point & efficient. The restaurant was clean, and there was a ton of free parking in the super large parking lot. No excuses to not come here and try da grub!!! I guess breakfast will have to wait till my next adventure to Kauai..........but in the mean time, if you're looking for good grub at a reasonable price, give Daddy O's a try! Me & my Sweety are working our way down a list of supposed 5-star eateries. Today we hit up Daddy-Os for breakfast. Our experience is what it is, so 2 stars is our vote. First off, our food was very bland and sub-par. We decided it was on the same level as a Denny's on the mainland. Where the 5-star entrees that are written about come from is a mystery to us. The elderly gent that seated us and eventually took our order had to be reminded by another employee to take our order. His attitude toward us was...I don't know what words to use...annoyed that we showed up is all I can come up with. Then, of course, he screwdriver up our order. My gal's pancakes were not macadamia as ordered but regular...and very bisquicky in tastelessness to boot. My omelet is still a mystery as to type. The bill had a few mystery upcharges, including a 50 cent per egg surcharge which we had neglected to read anywhere was being added to the bill...which is obviously not a financial burden on us since we're vacationing in Kauai...but that nickle/diming thing sort of irks me. After insisting and insisting on eating Kaua'i regular ppl food not only fancy restaurant / tourist food -- this place set the bar up high! 1. The Army veteran owner was friendly and engaging. He prepared an off menu pupu platter for two that we snacked on at the NaWiliWili Harbor later that afternoon. He also owns the WikiWiki spot a couple doors down closer to the bowling alley. 2. Naomi took our order who we found out later was the owners daughter. She was polite and quick, friendly and personable. I hear she moved back home to take up the reigns. 3. The food was served fast, hot, and ono ono ono! Compliments to the chef !! 4. The hard working Pake lady was like an automated machine working behind the scenes. I hear she works 6 days a week 10ths a day? She can reach the young ones a thing or two. 5. Went here as our last meal in Kauai and it hit the spot. The shrimp stuffed Benedict is noted on the menu as a yelp favorite and it's worthy of the praise. It really knocked it out of the park. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it's nicely decorated and has a homey feel to it. All of the tables are shimmery and has a nice pattern going through them. The interesting and smart thing about this place is the call button. After you had a chance to look at the menu and decided what you want, you press the call button and someone comes over to take your order. I love that you don't feel rushed with someone standing there looking at you while you're deciding what you want. The food.. OMG, the food! The mini pancakes were light and fluffy.. absolutely delicious! My croissant sandwich was simple but delicious! My egg and ham were cooked perfectly- exactly the way I wanted it cooked. My husband absolutely loved the broasted chicken plate! The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside; the chicken itself was not oily at all.. it was also seasoned perfectly! Flew out to Kauai on the first flight out and went to breakfast at Daddy O's. There was a lot of parking and upon entering the restaurant it was somber clean quiet. The menu was simple and easy on the eyes. Our order was taken and it was received quickly. We ordered Banana pancake, and their early bird special with coffee and water. Overall, I thought this place was fine. It's located in a small strip mall, fairly far from anything else. They do offer a pretty big menu of items, so it's an ideal spot if you're with a bigger group or picky eaters. I was here with two other people and we ordered a handful of items: -Ube Pancakes -Blueberry Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast -Various breakfast plates The ube pancakes were alright - not really ube pancakes, they're buttermilk pancakes with an ube sauce. The stuffed french toast was probably the best thing we had - it had nice flavor, was rich and creamy without being too sweet. The breakfast plates had spam, Portuguese sausage, eggs, rice and toast and those were pretty standard in flavor. I'd say the service was pretty underwhelming. We didn't really get a warm greeting upon entering the restaurant, we received our food at different times (the last plate arrived almost 10 minutes after everyone else's) and paying for everything was a bit abrasive from the cashier. If you're looking for a big menu of hearty, Hawaiian-focused breakfast/brunch items, this place definitely has those options. They serve decent sized portions , so you'll leave satisfied. I wouldn't expect a warm reception or experience, but if you're dining on your own and you go for their more interesting options, this is worth a visit. read more

We were looking for some good local eats on our way down to Poipu and Daddy O's was one of the few that had loco mocos. The loco moco was pretty good but nothing special; it was just smaller than what I had expected. The mac salad was my least favorite; it had the taste and consistency of a potato salad which is fine, but not really what I'm used to. If you do come here, just get the pancakes. They were the best and fluffiest pancakes I've ever had! We ordered both the ube and coconut macadamia pancakes and they were both amazing. The only real negative was that the staff was kind of rude to us. But it probably won't stop me from coming next time. read more

More like leftover sliced chicken with skin, battered then fried. Missed the mark on more chicken meat please, less skin! Love the seasoned meat though! Food was definitely one of the better spots on the island. But they randomly closed in the middle of the day. Not sure if they're short staffed or if they ran out of food. They're a little rude if you don't know what you want to order. I guess they're used to locals who just know the routine. Hostess called out our name at the start and gave a bit of sass about her "texting" via Yelp our table was ready. Turned out Yelp emailed notification. Interior is very smoky.
