Well, this was our last stop before we went to the airport. There was a lot of good reviews so we decided to give it a try.. We met Daddio such a nice guy lotta history he's been there for a while, but he's familiar with the bay area. They were very friendly, professional, attentive. The atmosphere is laid-back, cozy, clean and inviting. OK if you've been reading my reviews; I'm very picky about my eggs and I like them over easy. They made them perfect, the bacon was delicious and my sourdough toast was perfect. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast and they loved how their eggs were cooked to their liking. First time at Daddy O's--sadly, on the day we were leaving! I wanted to try everything, but then the owner (who was also taking our order) mentioned the specials... one was garlic shrimp--my weakness. That sealed it. I asked him to choose for me, and he brought out the garlic shrimp plate--at 9:15am! I've never had shrimp, rice, and mac salad for breakfast, but wow--this was my 6th garlic shrimp plate this trip (Oahu + Kauai), and it's one of the best. The shrimp was scrumptious, topped with crispy garlic and bursting with flavor. My husband and my sister had the French toast with spam and eggs--French toast was yummy, and the spam was perfectly cooked and delicious. My super picky brother ordered the mahi plate and loved it. We also shared a coconut macadamia pancake--fluffy, perfect, and topped with the most delicious sauce. So sad we found Daddy O's at the end of our trip--we would've eaten here again for sure. This has become my favorite breakfast place in Kauai. We popped in one morning & it was pretty busy but we were seated immediately. I ordered the Loco Moco in the mini size which was only $10! I was shocked by how inexpensive it was! My fiancé ordered the French toast. This was by far the best loco moco I've ever had & I was thinking about it the entire day afterwards. I'm usually not a huge French toast fan but this restaurant changed my mind on that. It was so good we had to bring the whole family back. Went there with my family for breakfast on a recent vacation. Had the deluxe French toast, chicken and waffles, and grilled cheese. All were very good, but the broasted chicken was spectacular. It was amazing! Probably the best chicken I've ever eaten. Everyone wanted a bite and then liked it so much we ordered multiple extra sides. Would definitely go back just for that! On our way to Poipu, we saw Daddy Os for some breakfast. Located in a strip mall, it doesn't look like much. Friendly service! Turn down the pineapple!!! It would seem like the pineapple is something they give complimentary by the way they present it but it's not. It's $6 for some pathetic pineapple pieces with some seasoning on it. Totally not worth it. That was the only disappointing thing. Other than that I got their Ox Tail soup and my husband got half an order of the loco moco. Ate breakfast at Daddy O's twice during our stay - once when arrived on Kauai and or last meal before heading to the airport to go home. This was the first time we have tried Daddy O's while on Kauai. Kind of difficult to find initially because it's toward the back of shopping center but plenty of parking. For our initial meal I was looking at the Waffle Plate but our server (Darell, I believe) asked me whether I was sold on waffles. He instead pointed me to the pancakes or french toast, since they make those in-house whereas the waffles are pre-made. So I went with the French Toast plate instead with the Porteguese sausage. My wife went with the Ube pancakes. Our server mentioned that they were pretty big and she was able to get a short stack instead, which she always prefers. So we much appreciated our servers assistance and directing us accordingly. Both our meals were very good. For our second visit, we got there shortly after they opened. This time my wife ordered the French Toast plate but with bacon. I ordered the Local Plate with fried rice - which I try and get when visiting the islands - instead of white rice. Again great meals. The one regret, our server had mentioned the broasted chicken during our intial visit, Well I didn't order it and saw it at other tables - argh, big mistake on my part. It looked soooo good. Great sit down quick service restaurant near the airport. Fast service, good food and reasonably priced. Our server was friendly and offered great suggestions on favorites. We ordered the half order of the stuffed French toast, the Local sampler with Portuguese sausage on the side, and we order the fried chicken to go for the plane ride home. French toast was so delicious with a creamy cream cheese filling with fresh cut fruit, solid eggs meal. The fried chicken was so good- we ate it 3 hours later and it was still crispy and juicy. Desiring to have a good breakfast but at an affordable cost, my wife and I ventured away from the hotel restaurant to Daddy O's found in a small shopping center in town. We walked in, chose our seats, and were greeted by our waitress immediately. We ordered our drinks and browsed the menu. The drinks came quickly and we ordered which also came quickly soon after ordering. My wife had an omelet and to her surprise was ho-hum. It was very basic and not packed with flavor. I on the other hand opted for French Toast, Sunnyside Up Eggs, and bacon. I can say that I was completely satisfied with my plate of food. Zero complaints. So glad Daddy O opens at 7am because due to jet lag we were up at 6am every morning on our trip. Daddy O is a very casual diner walking distance from where we were staying. I got the French toast plate with scrambled eggs and Portuguese sausage. The French toast was fluffy, eggy and lightly sweetened! I only had put some butter on top and it was so good! Hubby decided to try the stuffed shrimp benedict since we never heard of it before. I believe it's a mixed of ground shrimp and imitation crab. Eggs, bacon, French toast and pancakes. Nothing was greasy, bacon was crispy and the pancakes were fluffy. Coffee was actually really tasty, for a no frills diner. I guess you can't go wrong in Kauai for coffee. The food came out quick and we were on our way on time and with enough food in our belly to take in a 2 hour hike. This is our first and last time here. We are tourists and read the nice reviews on this place so wanted to try it out. It is located in a really old mini mall in an uneven asphalt lot. We hardly found it as their business name really didn't stand out until you came close to the door. We were seated promptly. Servers were really nice and brought us waters. We looked at the menu and everything looked nice in the pics. We both ordered the local breakfast. Unfortunately these lacked flavor and presentation. The hash browns in hubby's breakfast was dry. The scrambled eggs in my order was runny. Portion size was fit for a child. We ordered mini pancakes. That, too, looked like it was a child's portion. You can get better short stacks at Denny's or IHOP for same price and better quality. Keep in mind, they CHARGE you for HOT water in a cup at 50 cents each! The restaurant is quaint in size and outdated. I oddly felt like I was getting bitten by mosquitoes under the table. Told my hubby we had to hurry and get out. Could have been mold or mildew if it wasn't mosquitoes. The owners, husband and wife, made small talk with the regulars. When paying instead of asking how was everything, he said "where you heading to?" Odd. Anyhow, we're never coming back here. I just didn't feel they paid much attention to us after we got our meals.
