I've been here a couple times now. My first visit was a Friday during lent so I got the fried fish sandwich, which ended up being a bit bland and just so so. But while I was there, I saw some pretty good looking food being ordered by others, so I decided to go back. And I'm glad I did. We started with the tot-chos. Basically loaded tots with nacho-style toppings and chipped steak. It was good. 4 stars. Then came the highlight of my visits to Dad's - the Chicago dog. I love good hot dogs and this is the best hot dog I've been able to find in the Pittsburgh area. I was first introduced to the Chicago dog at a now-closed shop called Yovi's. We had eaten here before a long time ago and it's been a while. I wanted to try something different than the norm and noticed I had never reviewed Dad's so here it is. Placed a to go order and picked up a variety of items today as follows: The Chicago - this beef hotdog was packed with toppings galore to include tomatoes, relish, onions, pickle, sport pepper, yellow mustard and a dash of celery salt. By the time we got it home, the bread was a little soggy but the air fryer can be your savior on this. My first time having this style do and it was not bad. The fresh cut fries that came with the sandwiches and hot dogs were a little dry and a tad over cooked. Not my favs. Old #7 - grilled beef hotdog "Primanti style" with coleslaw and fries was different. Not sure how I felt about it. A lot going on. Greuben Corned beef sandwich - was the star of the show for me. I ordered. The corned beef with Swiss, coleslaw and thousand island. It was served on fresh marble rye and was juicy and flavorful with every bite. Gyro - my husband typically does not like gyros that he cannot see the meat being sliced in front of you from the authentic rotating kebab. I wanted to give it a try at Dads because of the way it was advertised on their website as being their "hands-down, two-hander Pub favorite with the Lamb, tzatziki sauce, lettuce, tomato and onion in a fresh pita." The verdict was that it was very good was packed with meat, sauce and vegetables and I was extremely impressed despite my husbands apprehension. The beer cheese fries were ok but they were better than the fresh cut ones. Softer. Large brisket Mac n cheese for 10.99 - was okay. A little skimpy with the meat portions for the price but it had a great taste and flavor. Lg Grilled Chicken Salad - decent size and what you'd expect. Kid Hot Dog came with one side. I would certainly recommend that you dine in. I tried to drive carefully but the loose containers inside of my two bags kept shifting and despite my efforts to secure everything; I managed to get cheese sauce on a bunch of the containers I think from the cheese fries we ordered. I love Dad's when I'm in Monroeville! I found it from a Yelp search a few weeks ago when I was looking for dinner. I was in a hurry, so just ordered the breaded zucchini with a delicious horseradish sauce for dipping. The beer selection is amazing with lots of local crafts on draft. Driving through town running errands with my daughter, needed a place to pop-in for some good grub and this place hit the spot! We did a takeout order (due to COVID-19) of one of their signature burgers and fries. The Dad's BBQ burger was a huge beef patty topped with lettuce, tomato, raw onion, onion rings, cheddar and jack cheeses, crispy bacon and BBQ sauce atop a hearty Italian style roll...only bad part was I asked for medium rare and got well done, but the overall flavor combo was really good. Honestly, I could barely get my mouth around this behemoth of a burger, but the flavor combo melded just right for this style and man was it filling! Fries were fresh cut (unfortunately slightly undercooked for my liking) and topped with a mild seasoning and sprinkled parmesan cheese. I really liked their flavor. I've been trying to get back into the groove of discovering local establishments no matter what town they are in. I am always on the lookout for a good place to pick up lunch on my commute to work. Monroeville holds a lot of possibilities, and not just national chains. Sometimes you have to go off the beaten path in Monroeville to find some good, stick-to-you-bones food. Dad's Pub & Grub was on my radar for a bit, but never made the journey here as I felt it was a run of the mill copycat business. Also it was in an area where I don't think of food when it comes to finding food. Add to that that this building is a reuse of a Pizza Hut, albeit a very good reuse. Once inside you do not even notice that it was a Pizza Hut at one point. They really transformed the space inside to make you feel as if you are at a bar and restaurant. Ordering was very easy for me, I called to place my order. However when you call they encourage you to place your order via website. While driving it is much easier to order by phone then attempt to pull up a website. I did look the menu over before my travels that day so I already knew what I wanted which made ordering that much easier. This was probably my only mistake, ordering. I have never eaten here so I did not know what the portion sizes were like. I have in my head that they are probably on the smaller side so I weigh on the side of caution. For my appetizer I opted from the Fry vs. Fry menu and went with the Dad's Famous Pup Fries. You can opt for either fresh cut fries or beer battered, I went with fresh cut. These fries are covered in cheese and bacon and come with a side of Ranch to dip in. When they asked me for the size I went with large. Little did I know that the large would be meal unto itself. This fills a container and is heavy on the cheese and bacon. The ranch was amazing to and needed for dipping. I enjoyed their take on the "Yinzer" here. It is not your typical "Yinzer" fare that you would expect. That being fries, cole slaw, and what not. Here, that means bacon and mac n cheese. When I saw that I thought it was one that would work really well, so I opted for the two "Yinzer" items I saw on the menu. First was the Yinzer Weenie. A mighty good dog that had bacon tucked beside it on a soft poppy seed bun and then topped with some of the best mac n cheese I have had in a while. They use Cavatappi pasta for their mac n cheese, giving it a better hold on the cheese, I mean that cheese gets into those spiral tubes and makes sure you know it is mac n cheese. This weenie was a monster to eat and took some time, but every bite you got the whole flavor combination intended. I would go back just for that. Now, if that wasn't enough, I decided to order more. See I was at work and hadn't eaten anything that day. I figured I would start my day with the fries and weenie, then my lunch would be the next thing I ordered. However, my stomach was heavy and I had to save the next part of the meal for the next day. I went with the Yinzer Burger. This is a huge burger, 8 ounces of meat topped with bacon, mac n cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion on an Italian roll. This comes with a side of fresh cut fries. With this I unwittingly ordered two meals for myself. The burger is cooked to your liking and then topped with all that. The fries, like my appetizer, were amazing. These fresh cut fries were cut so perfectly that they weren't overbearing. I had to take my time with the burger. I felt like I was getting the meat sweats while eating. I mean you got the beef and then the bacon. Then with all the added toppings it definitely was a big burger to consume. I will definitely frequent this place again. I may jump around the menu a bit as there are other things I would like to try. But in a pinch I may just fall back on one of these items I have had the pleasure of already ordering. read more

I've been here before without the kiddos and everything was great. The food is good for bar food but not amazing. If you want to get more customers in change your seating policy to allow for families to sit at the high top table area. There's absolutely no reason to prevent people under 21 from sitting at high top tables. Many other restaurants allow it. Arrived here and all high top tables were open but we had to wait over 20 minutes to sit with tables open. If it's due to some state negotiated restriction, you should have this changed. At least two other families showed up and walked out due to this nonsense. read more

I was told to get burgers but I opted for the yinzer hotdog for its novelty. I thought it would be a gourmet hot dog, but it really was just an average hot dog with some average mac and cheese and slices of bacon. The pub fries were pretty good though. My order of small fries was enough to feed two. We came on a weeknight with a small group of people. The staff was friendly and attentive. It was also nice that they have their own parking lot. I was in here a couple times when I was in Town to hang with my family for a month!! Yeah it was brutal Lol, nice to come by here and taste a massive amount of beers with the manager and bartender. So many on tap and had to be 100+ by bottle in 4 large glass refrigerators. My brother had a particularly bad night and I was desperate for some ales, so I stopped by they were in close down mode yet kind enough to give me one on tap and shop for some to go. I think I'd go 3.5 for this place. Don't get me wrong, the food is really good! The service was...ok. I personally didn't like the buffalo sauce- it tasted more sweet than spicy. I'm partially convinced I received a bbq chicken wrap instead. It'd make more sense. My husband really liked his yinzer burger, and the beer battered fries are AMAZING. The zucchini planks were meh, but they do have good ranch at least. As for the service... It wasn't a busy night at alllllll (we were only seated with one other couple inside), and the waitress was nice enough! However, she forgot to bring my husband's dipping sauce, possibly brought me the wrong wrap, didn't refill drinks, and *completely* forgot about his beer until she brought the check (which by then... he basically chugged it so we could leave). read more

From the pony keg lights and copious number of random stickers and TVs to the impressive beer selection, this is a place we could call home. The Chicago dog is the real deal, made with authentic toppings and the poppyseed bun. The Yinzer dog is perfection in a bun, with creamy Mac and cheese and bacon. With more than 40 beers on tap, try a beer from a local brewery or a well known classic. We sampled two that were excellent and landed on Insurrection AleWorks' Away from the Mire. Honestly, this is a great little local hangout. Too bad we live 90 minutes away. But we'll be back! read more

"Pub grub" is a family fave, so we knew we would love this place even before getting out of the car in the parking lot. Fab beer selection, fun menu and great energy--what else could you possibly need or want?! My son and I split the jaggerbush-style egg roll as a starter--yum! He devoured his Cuban sandwich, and my burger was fantastic and perfectly cooked. (Disclaimer: My burger was my go-to, a straight-up with garden fixings, not one of the fun options on the menu, but it was STILL awesome.) Stopped here while in town for a convention with Vog. Used the yelp app to get on the waitlist but upon arrival - there were empty tables and we were sat after meeting each waitress who asked how many in our party once each - finally being sat by the last one. Housed in a former Pizza Hut location, there was outdoor patio seating, and inside the building cut in half - one being the bar and another the regular seating space. Their menu is PACKED full of items and realistically I would have loved to try multiple items - which we did end up doing, but not everything. We shared the provolone sticks and cheese dip pretzel logs. The provolone sticks were good - exactly what they are labeled - with a half panko half regular breading to them, and they came out fast with great thick marinara. The pretzel logs were INCREDIBLE. Must order if you are in bc the cheese sauce was so good, I ordered an extra and found myself totally immersing the pieces of pretzel in them loving each bite. Wow. For the meal I ordered a yinzer burger which comes with Mac and cheese on top. Burger was perfectly medium as I ordered, and even though I would have liked to have the Mac and cheese more solid like a rice cake consistency, it still was very tasty. I am going to go with 5 stars on this one. Out of town for a baseball tourney. My son and I always search out places we can't go to at home. This is certainly one of these places. Very small location with about 7 booths, and about 8 to 10 tables, and about 15 bar stools. The outdoor patio certainly adds a lot of space for people who enjoy sitting outside. The strangest part about the location are the garage doors separately the two sides: bar from dining area. Still not sure why they are there. Service was outstanding. While it wasn't busy, I sometimes find that service lacks during those times. This was not the case. Our server was attentive and answered all of our questions. Food was very, very good. We started with Firecracker Wedges which were filled with pepperjack cheese. I didn't ask, but these had to be made in house as the breading was so good and thick. Only issue hear is being upcharged for bbq sauce instead of the honey mustard that they typically come with. I know it isn't a big deal, but I can't stand upcharges for a small substitution. Both my son and I ordered Yinzer burgers: Mac and cheese, and bacon on a burger. Yep! Outstanding! Cooked well and huge at that. What else can you ask for. I enjoy spicy, so I asked for a side of their Blazin' Hot sauce. This was truly one of the best sauces I have ever had, and they make it in house. Almost asked for a container to take home. Fairly large beer selection, but a good amount of normal selections. Was hoping for more local choices. Again, not a big deal. Go there and yum!!! read more

Dads is a great local neighborhood bar to meet up for after work, with your significant other, a few friends or even to take your family for a casual meal. The drink selection is a solid without too much fanfare and unless is a Friday afternoon you should be able to find the seating if your choice The food is grub but it's a good portion and I recommend to get a sandwich or a jaggerbush eggroll appetizer because just why not. The bartenders are nice and will make sure you are cared for quickly. It's a nice down to earth bar with nice, down to earth people. It will get crowded on Friday afternoons and the main bar times. In the summer they have outdoor seating and you'll even be able to bring a well behaved pup. If the parking lot is more than 70% full there will likely only be dining room seating left so make sure to consider that read more

Seen it had good reviews and the food looked awesome and the reviews/pics definitely did NOT disappoint. Started out with chicken tenders with a dry rub & ranch for dipping. Then for our meals I got a Cuban & my friend got the mushroom Swiss burger, both with fresh cut fries. The Cuban was amazing!! And one of the biggest I've ever had. I really liked the mustard sauce. The fresh cut fries were delicious too. The mushroom Swiss burger was delicious and absolutely giant for the price of $11!!!!! (I believe the Cuban was also $11) And that price INCLUDES the fries. We also split a side of Mac and cheese which was pretty good! Had a nice flavor and the sauce was nice & creamy. I also had a delicious cocktail but can't remember the name. It had Tanqueray gin, lavender/chamomile infused simple syrup & fresh lemon juice. Deliciousness all around and such good prices!! 5 stars 10/10 highly recommend!! read more

Met up with friends last weekend (7/23) and sat outside on the patio and had the best time. I wish I could remember our servers name but she was awesome. There were 7 of us and she had no problem remembering all of our drink orders (awesome draft selection) and was just so friendly on top of that. I had the chicken bacon ranch wrap and the dad's fireballs and both were really good. Also I have to say the ranch dressing here is excellent as well. We will be back. read more
