Atmosphere: Casual, comfortable, and warm. Breakfast bar, booths and tables. Nice! Food: We were in for breakfast. My friends ordered Eggs Benedict, and 2 different kinds of omelets. I had 2 eggs (over easy) and home fries. We all split a short stack of pancakes just because we wanted to try it since the menu told us we'd "fall in love". My favorite part of the meal was the home fries! So good! And the pancakes were fluffy and good. Service: Excellent. From the moment I walked in, everyone was warm and kind. Didn't feel rushed or like I was an inconvenience. We had a few different servers throughout the meal and each waitress was great. That's rare. This place is pretty tasty! I snuck in with my bfs mom before a flight and was not disappointed! I ordered peanut butter fluff french toast and it pretty much danced on my taste buds and made my tongue salivate with delight. The food here is top notch and I could tell my order was made with care and quality. The staff is nice and friendly but the only thing is that this place is so great it often gets crowded... otherwise this is a fantastic place to have a great breakfast/lunch/dinner! read more

There food is very good but there waitress are horrible in my opinion. I have been many many times probably go there more often if the wait staff changes.They seem to treat their regulars better not by much. The only person there who is on top of things is mom with out her they would be lost. Again the food is very very good but for me the wait staff is what makes me come back. The decor is very old and dated tape on seats old dirty carpet. Needs fresh paint. Can deal with that but not the waitress. Usually go there once every few months hoping it will change but it never does. I use to go almost daily for brakfast or lunch. at that time there was a different waitress there she is gone. But I do not want to deal with the same old wait staff. It is to bad. I would not recomend Dad's to anybody just because of the wait staff. **resonse to owner's comments- i was not surprised or aggravated about a wait time ... I expected it ...but I was aggravated by the eye roll which yea did happen" Have been to this restaurant for breakfast many times and the food is very good. Too bad the customer service is not. On the best of days, servers and staff are rushed and make you feel like they want you out ( yeah, i get it ... table turnover means profit but at least don't make it obvious). Went into the establishment on a Sunday and was told "it will be a while" for a table of three. When we inquired how long the wait would be .... was told "i don't know" . So i told my children, ok then let's go (as we didn't want to wait for a long period of time and the hostess could not tell me a time and a while means different things to different people ).... the woman ( hostess? Owner? Employee? ) rolled her eyes and said "okay then"....... At that point, i said I didn't understand how she couldn't tell me a time frame ( 10 minutes or 2 hours) and she said.... well it would be about 15- 30 minutes( uh so why not just say that at the beginning) .... Honestly, at that point, I was not going to stay and be sat by this nasty woman who is acting as the face of the restaurant. So we left , but really. What hostess can't guesstimate wait time on a table and then rolls her eyes at a customer for asking . I try to stick to local family owned business, but I'll find another breakfast place after this. read more

I walked in for the second time in my life expecting to have a good breakfast and a good time. My family and I aren't locals and we waited in front of the hostest's counter waiting to be seated for about 10 minutes until they started seating people who were walking in after us. At that point we were more disappointed than angry and decided to leave for the dunkin donuts a few blocks down. It was a very small restaurant which doesn't bother me, but all I want to say is that locals are the only people who get all the good costumer service. How sad :( I dont recommend this restaurant if you're not a local. read more

By far best breakfast in Wallingford. My girlfriend and I always head to Dads for breakfast/lunch. Food is amazing. My favorite is the stuffed French toast or a ham and cheese omelet. read more

I am not in Wallingford that much so it is unfortunate that I do not get to this restaurant much. I have never had lunch there before but they have the best breakfast anywhere. The staff is wonderful and the owner is great. It's sad to read comments about people who have never been there before and then get offended over the usual customers. I think this adds such an enjoyable atmosphere to a restaurant. Like everyone is friends even if you do not know them. When you have to wait until your whole party is there to be seated it's so everyone can be waited on fast and not have people sitting holding a table up for a half an hour or so while someone is on the way. Everyplace I go into is like this and I can't understand why somebody would be offended over it? This is a great little restaurant great food great employees and great owner. If you have never tried it before give it a try you will love it!!!!! read more

Dad's is a small diner that serves up great breakfast all day long. They have huge, gorgeous, yummy pancakes of all kinds, delicious fluffy waffles, and a killer egg sandwich. I've never had the non-breakfast-related foods, but I'd be willing to bet they can't be all bad based on my experiences eating their food. I'd stop in here any day for a yummy meal. read more

Favorite breakfast place! Service is fast and friendly and portions are generous. Relatively cheap for all that you get when you order. I really enjoy their specials and fruit-filled pancakes but you can't go wrong no matter what you order. Pancakes are large so bring an appetite when you come here. You are not seated until your entire party is there. Two parties that were behind me were seated ahead of me because my friend wasn't there yet. When I said I will have my coffee the owner said have it at the counter and we will seat you when she gets there. There were 2 empty booths and no one waiting. It was also a half an hour before closing. I stood there until my friend arrived staring at the 2 empty booths. The owner stated ..."it's been working for 16 years" and clapped her hands and walked away. THEN my omelette was made w chIcken in it when I did not order chicken in my omelette and had to wait for it to be corrected and it was not deducted from the bill. Very bad experience. I wish I could give this place five stars because the service and prices here are utterly outstanding..however the food is just so-so..perhaps replacing the poor quality margarine with butter would make a noticeable difference..the scrambled eggs seem to always be overcooked and I am not a big fan of their homefries..they are just not tasty..without ketchup I find them very close to inedible . Orange juice doesn't taste fresh, but the coffee here is WONDERFUL... All in all I prefer other spots in wallingford but this place definitely deserves the three stars for their coffee and remarkably efficient,friendly and professional service. The wait for food is long. The staff is unpleasant to say the least, the breakfast is mediocre at best. Our table last time was sticky and smelled of wet mop. It is difficult to get a refill on coffee and the wait staff are constantly having conversations with one another. Also, you must wait outside no matter the weather even if you have children. The service at this location was top notch- we had our infant with us and our waitress allowed us to choose the spot that would be most comfortable for us, which I really appreciated. During our whole meal our waitress was very attentive, making sure we had refills of coffee/tea and whatever condiments we needed. Had an ok breakfast here, our food was cooked to order, which we always appreciate, but we weren't knocked out by the pancakes. While they do give you a hearty portion, they are almost too thick and they lacked some flavoring. We have heard great reviews about the Texas toast and may try that the next time read more

Service is prompt and friendly and the breakfast offerings are what you'd expect, with reasonable prices. Don't let the pictures fool you the food doesn't look like them. I got a bacon egg and cheese and the Hungarian pancake. The bacon was chewy the egg was runny, which I never had before when I ordered a bacon egg and cheese from anywhere. I don't prefer a runny egg in my bacon egg and cheese. Whatever they toasted the bread on they obviously don't clean often because it tasted like cinnamon raise toast. The Cinnamon in the Hungarian pancake was non-existent. The pancake tasted like it was made with old batter. They gave my food to someone else then tried to give it back to me. Normally I wouldn't mind but Covid and all that. The women acted like it was no big deal and basically tried to force me to take it. I won't be going back and I won't be recommending this to anyone. Ricks on 5 is better and like two buildings down. I thought this place was a great find. We went here when another highly reviewed restaurant on the strip was a little too full. I'm really glad we did. Service was a little slow, but the food was excellent. I don't usually like Hollandaise, but this stuff was great. Some of the regulars were a little crusty (grumpy about people attending the local Fair, etc), but the staff was nice and friendly. The wait for a table was longer than the wait for the food. We love Dad's. They staff is always welcoming and the food is great. Try the loaded mashed potato omelet. You won't be disappointed.

I was fairly underwhelmed with my visit, which is unfortunate because I've heard good things about this restaurant. First off, it was ridiculously freezing inside. It's currently 55 outside so it wasn't very pleasant having it feel even colder inside. As for the food, we all got breakfast and it was overwhelmingly mediocre. I did a make your own omlette, but it was more like an egg burrito because the eggs were so thin and all the ingredients were just thrown in. The bacon was full pieces that just slid out upon the first bite. The pancakes were huge, which was really existing to see, but they were one step away from being corn bread. They were mealy and separated and falling apart. I noticed the people next to me having the same problem. If it was baked in a cast iron skillet, it would have been great, of course it wouldn't be pancakes at that point. The coffee was good, the home fries were good, and the belgen waffle was fine, but overall very underwhelmed with my visit. read more

We have been going to Dad's for breakfast for at least a dozen years. The food was always good and service was friendly...until today! We went for breakfast, My wife ordered cheese omelet. Waitress asked what kind of toast and my wife asked what the choices were. The waitress said white, wheat, rye, and English muffin; my wife chose English muffin. I ordered 2.2.2 which was two eggs, two pancakes or French toast and 2 pieces of meat. I asked about the meat choices, and was told bacon, sausage, Vermont sausage and chicken sausage. I decided to go with chicken sausage. When we got the bill, there were extra charges. When asked why, the waitress said that there was an extra charge for chicken sausage and English muffin !! When asked why we were not told when she was taking the order, she said "we don't mention it unless the customer asks" and "this is not my restaurant and I don't set the prices". She asked if we wanted to talk to her boss and we said yes. The conversation with her boss wasn't any easier as we again had to explain why we were not happy with the bill. Her not so pleasant reaction was "you are all set" and pulled the bill out of my hand and threw it away, as if she was giving us a free breakfast. We had already paid for the bulk of our food through Groupon. Not once did we hear "sorry". It is not the matter of a few dollars here or there, this is not the way to run a business. WE'LL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN. If you do, make sure you've taken a mind reading course. read more

A bunch of us used to go there quite a bit until they changed their way of seating customers. If you entire party is not there, they will not seat you. We had 6 people for breakfast one morning and only 5 were there, 1 almost there. They wouldn't seat us. We were insulted when we decided to leave by the elder lady that works there and she used profanity at us when we were walking out the door to go to Rick's on 5. Because of this, we won't go back to Dad's. The food is good but the service is rude (because of the profanity). DON'T GO if you entire party is not there to be seated! read more

Found this place on yelp and stopped in this morning on my way to work. It was relatively quiet, only a handful of people. Was greeted quickly by a friendly hostess. She offered me drinks. Coffee was hot, and fresh. Perfect on a cold morning. I ordered the special omelette with ham, peppers, tomatoes, and Swiss cheese with a side of corned beef hash. Omelette came with toast and home fries. Food was ready very quick and was definitely made fresh and piping hot. Corned beef hash was well cooked, not fatty, and a good size. Very filling, I ended up taking half my omelette, home fries and toast with me for lunch. Solid food at a solid price. This place has a small town cozy feel, not like traditional Greek diners. Will definitely be back and will recommend this diner to others read more
