Summer Roll & Half Dragon Roll

There was delightful service and great quality fish! Summer Night roll & Half Dragon roll. Parking was very easy.

I came in to try the salmon sashimi special on monday and was really surprised by the quality and the taste of the fish. This place is pretty hidden and is a small shop that does get pretty busy on the weekends but this place is great to come on the weekdays when its not as busy. The service is really friendly here as well!

If you're looking for a quick and affordable sushi spot with decent quality fish, I would recommend this place. Nothing exceeded my expectations. Sashimi quality was decent, some were a bit too mushy for my liking. Service was super quick, parking was easy to find since there's a lot, and the inside of the restaurant was cozy. Sashimi for 1 (14 pcs)- 7/10, generous thick cuts and came with 5 different cuts of fish. Pretty worth it for the price since it was only around $27 Fire roll- 7.5/10 Toro nigiri Sunday special $4/pc: 6/10, every toro I've had from other places typically wow me, but this one didn't really give that same experience. Although it was pretty affordable, I wouldn't get it again

Daiki to the rescue! Plans for my daughter's birthday fell through this evening, and we luckily stumbled upon Daiki restaurant. At around 5:45 pm, they were already busy but we were able to grab a table for 3. My daughter was in the mood for some fried appetizers, so we grabbed a couple, along with rolls and sashimi to share. When you go to a sushi restaurant, I feel like it is either grubby or good quality sushi. What I liked about Daiki was that it was a good mix between both. Sashimi for 1 comes with a variety of sashimi, mostly in 3 pieces, which was perfect for us. Good quality sashimi in generous portions. We also enjoyed their rolls and appetizers. Service was quick and friendly. The place is cozy and clean, and has easy parking. They offer different daily specials for different days of the week. We enjoyed celebrating here, and would come back next time we are in the area.

I made a quick stop here on my way home from work. It was not busy. I ordered the Eel Roll and their Monday Special, Salmon Sashimi for $1.00 per slice. I ordered three slices. This was a to go order. The Salmon looked good with some thick slices. The Eel Roll was also good. They offer Lunch Specials. Parking: a shared lot. Rating: 4 Stars

Stopped by for lunch and it wasn't busy. The 3-combo meal and the chirashi bowl both had generous portions and were absolutely worth it, esp for lunch special prices. The fish quality was fresh and came in surprisingly huge slices. The uni on the menu caught my eye it was delicious! I recommend coming here!

Unfortunately, this place was just okay for me. I came with a friend after a workout at LA Fitness. We originally had another spot in mind, but since they were closing, we ended up here instead. I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a sushi snob, but I do care about quality. With that said, I'm not sure this spot quite delivered. The fish was passable, but nothing stood out. Since it was a Sunday evening, we took advantage of the $1 beers and other Sunday deals which is $2/piece tuna and $4/piece for toro. Honestly, I'm not sure the toro really tasted like toro because it didn't give me that same wow factor I usually get from it elsewhere. We also ordered the Love Roll (I'm a sucker for heart-shaped things), the Super Philly Roll, and a Spicy Tuna Handroll. The spicy tuna handroll and the fatty tuna sushi, in particular, were underwhelming. All in all, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't memorable either. I'd only come back if a friend really wanted to go; otherwise, I'd prefer to get my sushi fix elsewhere. Service overall was good. My rating is mostly towards the quality of the food, which I didn't really care for.

Impressed by the quick service and the thick cuts on their Sashimi for 2. The sashimi was so fresh and the quality was delightful. The special also includes with miso soup and a side salad. The presentation was beautiful, and I enjoyed every bite!

Really good rolls. The fish tasted fresh and their sushi rice is the right consistency and flavour.

Daiki is a great sushi sashimi hole-in-the-wall for calm atmosphere and great deals. We went this past weekend and ordered the deluxe sashimi platter and some regular rolls. They had a 2 for 10.99 special for regular rolls and also a pick 3 items (various sashimi, sushi, tempura, etc) for 21. All great deals. Food comes out quick with a friendly staff that speaks chinese as well. Overall great taste and quality.

If the parking lot is full, you can find some street parking or do what I did and park in the 99 ranch plaza just behind their small parking lot (or behind the brick wall). They have amazing artwork and "relics" throughout the restaurant. It is also dim creating a more intimate atmosphere. They have their own sushi chef who makes their rolls and sashimi. Their staff are completely top notch service! Even the owner came around and asked us how our service is going. I ordered some yakitori and Im new to the scene so I haven't seen many variations. I had to try their chicken skin. Like my friend described it to me, its like eating pork grinds because it is soooo crispy! Their pork belly was good, not too salty. We also ordered their stir fry noodles and it smelled delicious and looked great! We also ordered some sushi rolls and when we couldn't finish them, they gave us a sushi box to take home. It was very cute! However, the highlight of our dinner was their ube mochi!! Highly, no, MUST recommend getting this little piece of dessert! They do offer it as part of their catering option. Well that was ages ago and it wasn't until now that I was able to visit and try out their delicious katsu, which hands down, is super good! I went during National Library Card Month. During the month of September, the city of Monterey Park is running a special where if you have a MPK library card, you can get deals and freebies from businesses and you can get an iced or green tea from Kagura if you show them your library card. I got a cold canned green tea, added to a cup of ice, refreshing and great with the delicious katsu that I got. I did a walk in for a slightly later lunch after dropping by Asayoru Maid Cafe across the street for a drink during their morning Asa shift. I went on a Thursday and was seated immediately. Staff is very friendly and checked up on me several times. It's a smaller restaurant, but it's simple and elegant in it's own way. No extra frills or bells and whistles. There were a couple other tables dining there and pick up orders too, so I can imagine it'd be busy during the weekends and lunch/dinner rushes. They have a paper wait list outside for those times. Limited parking in front of the plaza, but there's a parking structure next door. For my lunch, I got their demi glace loin katsu. It comes with miso soup, a side of rice, huge helping of cabbage salad with dressing, hot mustard, and some small sides of a sweet carrot salad, cucumber pickles, and 2 pieces of potatoes. Each side added a nice balance to flavor. I mention this in some reviews and to my friends that usually you get full because you get tired of the same flavor and texture all of the time, so I really enjoyed the small bites of crunchy texture from sweet, sour, and savory. The katsu is really where Kagura shines, as it's what they're known for. Super moist pork katsu meat inside, deliciously tender delicate layers of meat. The crisp of the breading outside isn't too greasy, but has the perfect level of indulgent oiliness that balances out. All perfect with a fluffy bed of rice and the demi glace brown sauce added a deliciously savory, slightly sort of fruity ketchup-y flavor (added this to my rice too!). Definitely want to come back to try more of their menu!
