Truffle star Roll - the wasabi is pretty strong, so not something I was able to really take. Salmon roll- love the portions here. Not too small Ambiance - classy and looks very nice. You don't have to be fancy, but I think this could be a cute spot for a date. Plenty of parking.

This is the 3rd restaurant I've been to in this space. They opened not long ago and is eager to please. The food is pretty good and the owner came out to greet us. I think this place deserves a chance to get going in this tough scene. Support!

In the mood for some Japanese food, found this place in Monterey Park, located in a shopping center. Been here twice already, food is good and the customer service is excellent, thanks, Ashley and Axel! I love that I can order a sushi roll on soy paper. Looking forward to coming back and trying other items on the menu.

great location and great service from the staff. very friendly and attentive and ready for anything. great selection and mood inside as it seemed relaxing with the dim light. food was good except I feel like the chirashi bowl and the toro missed the mark. bit steep here so bring your wallet.

I've been to Kokoro many times but let me tell you they remodeled in January and the place looks entirely different. It's always been good but now they really stepped up their game. The ambience has improved tremendously and everything is so cute with a full sushi bar. They also have a greatly expanded menu and are offering many items that you won't find elsewhere. One of those that I tried is the castle tower. This is composed of 3 fired wonton wrappers each topped with blue crab, avocado slices and a little bit of red onion. Presentation is very nice and the blue crab was a generous helping. Honestly, everything was really good and I cannot wait to go back.

They added wasabi in every piece of our salmon sushi. It was hidden under the salmon. The meal was for my 6 year old and she immediately spit it out. Not sure why it was added since we didn't ask for it.

    3 ITEM BENTO (DINNER)

Came here on a Wednesday evening with my sister to grab some dinner. They had a wide selection of sushi rolls and combos. We were indecisive but ended with the bento box 3 items which included a side of miso soup and also choices or sides/meats/sushi rolls. The service was also top tier here as they were fast and very nice as well. Interior was very new and recently remodeled. Modern and clean. Great food and experience and it's close by to me so I'll definitely be back!

Found such a cute gem in the East Los area- who knew sushi would be so great here?! My mom and I were in the area and in the search for a dinner spot, I stumbled across this place in a quick google search and decided to give it a try since we were starving. Located in a busy shopping center but it was no problem to find a parking spot. Entering the restaurant we were surprised at the beautiful interior decor and the immediate welcome from the staff (such a nice uniform). We were seated right away and got to order our drinks as we browsed the menu further. We decided to share a couple options to try multiple things off the menu. I am glad we did because everything was amazing!

Came here for dinner for the first time and got the 3 item bento dinner value menu (I chose the pork cutlet, fried white fish, and sesame chicken). Value wise it is definately very value priced. It seem like their lunch also has a good bento value as well. Parking is massive since it's part of a shopping plaza, though the restaurant itself seems a bit out of place and can easily be missed when you're driving by. They do have a really wide selection of rolls. The other person in my group got the spider roll and truly enjoy it. However, it was disappointing that there wasn't much variety for non-fried food in the bento combinations. A good bento box should be a balanced meal, but pretty much my whole meal felt fried. Also, the place doesn't fully represent a traditional Japanese aesthetic, it feels alot more like a Korean twist on sushi. Overall, great for the wallet and good rolls, but just okay on the balance of the bento meal.

Sushi is always excellent and many options to choose from...great customer service and ambiance!

Waited over 10 minutes on hold just to place an order for a simple California role. Person who answered never came back.

I called to place an order around 2 pm today. Well after lunch hour. Person who answered the phone just said "please hold" . I waited for over 10 minutes until I finally got tired of waiting and hung up. I called back and same person pretended to be the manager but no restaurant manager would just leave a customer order hanging like that so I don't think so. I Hope the real manager sees this and investigates. The fact is that either dine in or order out, this place is always a mess. Slow waiters, or even few waiters for multiple tables, slow food prep, unorganized management and operation of dining area overall is always chaos like its everyone's first day. Little did I know same experience calling in a simple order for a California roll! Seriously? Monterey Park's Kaiba Sushi who is their competition just down Atlantic has always been very well organized even when super busy. Staff is friendly and doesn't make excuses for having too many people and not enough staff. I will not be supporting Sushi Kokoro again.

Came here after the Dodgers game with my cousin around 10 pm. They close at 11 pm which is a little later than most sushi spots! I was very impressed how fresh the sashimi we ordered as well as the rolls were delicious. Service was great and had a lot of enthusiasm be energy especially when they're about to close so bravo to them. Last call was properly addressed so we appreciate that as well. The restaurant is clean with a touch of wood aesthetic which makes the place come all together. I really like this sushi spot and will be back the next time I'm in Monterey Park!

The sushi was amazing. It always tastes fresh and delicious. Their service is always incredible and friendly. Both Miguel and Mikey always go above and beyond and they always make use feel welcome. The ambiance is great as well especially some of the wall decor. 100/10 would eat there again PS: even if you are not a fan of sushi, they have a wide selection of Japanese cuisine on the menu too!

Sashimi Harmony. 1st time trying the little crab I had to ask if it was edible . Super delicious highly recommended.

They also have a back entrance that you can enter from. If the parking lot is full, you can find some street parking or do what I did and park in the 99 ranch plaza just behind their small parking lot (or behind the brick wall). They have amazing artwork and "relics" throughout the restaurant. It is also dim creating a more intimate atmosphere. They have their own sushi chef who makes their rolls and sashimi. Their staff are completely top notch service! Even the owner came around and asked us how our service is going. I ordered some yakitori and Im new to the scene so I haven't seen many variations. I had to try their chicken skin. Like my friend described it to me, its like eating pork grinds because it is soooo crispy! Their pork belly was good, not too salty. We also ordered their stir fry noodles and it smelled delicious and looked great! We also ordered some sushi rolls and when we couldn't finish them, they gave us a sushi box to take home. It was very cute! However, the highlight of our dinner was their ube mochi!! Highly, no, MUST recommend getting this little piece of dessert! They do offer it as part of their catering option. You get a whole sheet pan, about 40 pieces for $75. They require a 24 hr notice for this order. The ube is grown in Hawaii and is only made in-house. I need to take my husband here, its so good!

I remember when they first opened, I was thinking to myself, "Hell yeah, finally it's closer to us…read moreand now I don't have to go all the way to like Torrance or something." Well that was ages ago and it wasn't until now that I was able to visit and try out their delicious katsu, which hands down, is super good! I went during National Library Card Month. During the month of September, the city of Monterey Park is running a special where if you have a MPK library card, you can get deals and freebies from businesses and you can get an iced or green tea from Kagura if you show them your library card. I got a cold canned green tea, added to a cup of ice, refreshing and great with the delicious katsu that I got. I did a walk in for a slightly later lunch after dropping by Asayoru Maid Cafe across the street for a drink during their morning Asa shift. I went on a Thursday and was seated immediately. Staff is very friendly and checked up on me several times. It's a smaller restaurant, but it's simple and elegant in it's own way. No extra frills or bells and whistles. There were a couple other tables dining there and pick up orders too, so I can imagine it'd be busy during the weekends and lunch/dinner rushes. They have a paper wait list outside for those times. Limited parking in front of the plaza, but there's a parking structure next door. For my lunch, I got their demi glace loin katsu. It comes with miso soup, a side of rice, huge helping of cabbage salad with dressing, hot mustard, and some small sides of a sweet carrot salad, cucumber pickles, and 2 pieces of potatoes. Each side added a nice balance to flavor. I mention this in some reviews and to my friends that usually you get full because you get tired of the same flavor and texture all of the time, so I really enjoyed the small bites of crunchy texture from sweet, sour, and savory. The katsu is really where Kagura shines, as it's what they're known for. Super moist pork katsu meat inside, deliciously tender delicate layers of meat. The crisp of the breading outside isn't too greasy, but has the perfect level of indulgent oiliness that balances out. All perfect with a fluffy bed of rice and the demi glace brown sauce added a deliciously savory, slightly sort of fruity ketchup-y flavor (added this to my rice too!). Definitely want to come back to try more of their menu!
