Pros: It is always clean, the person at the counter is nice almost all the time, it's close to my home Cons: Not so smart staff; bad customer service I went to Dairy Queen to get a treat. Simple order. 1 Strawberry Sundae and two chocolate. Got to the window and was given 2 chocolate and 1 strawberry. No biggie, I get a little dyslexic at times so I just let them know and they changed the order. I asked for some crushed peanuts for my sundae. I was told I would be charged .59. Ok fine, something I always got for free with my sundae but no biggie. I pay with my card and she comes back with a small cup and hands it to me. I look in the cup and there are 9-12 whole peanuts!! Who puts whole peanuts on their sundaes? Apparently DQ does. I waited for the girl to come back and told her I wanted crushed peanuts not whole peanuts. She pretty much looked at me with a deer in the headlights look so I leave them there at the window and tell her thanks but no thanks. Arrived in Austin in the afternoon for the first time to attend a conference the next day. Got jet lag, decided to take a nap & overslept, so missed dinner. Decided to place a late night delivery order for some burgers, fries & drink. Delivered by Grubhub as expected to my hotel, everything was so tasty and did not disappoint. Burger was really good. I live very close to this location and eat here a lot. The employees believe in good costumer service. They are always pleasant and friendly and respectful. Sometimes my fries are not cooked enough but they have no problem fixing this. The restaurant is always clean and so are the bathrooms. I enjoyed a great lunch with my grandparents today and my food was ready before I ever sat down at my table. Thank you so much Dairy Queen your staff is great. read more

I went through the drive through last night after a movie to get my son a Blizzard. If you have ever been though the drive through here you know it is a very tight squeeze. I drive a Matrix so it wasn't a problem. The woman in front of me was driving a Durango and had gotten stuck and was about ready to take out a pole. One of the employees came out and patiently talked the driver out of her sticky situation. It took at least 5 minutes and she was really nice about it. That's what I call great customer service. And yet another reason not to drive a big car. read more

In an effort to live a healthier lifestyle and focus on my nutrition, I recently took up a relatively strict diet regimen. That is except for.....cheat meal! If I don't get dessert after my cheat meal, I'm a very unhappy person. More often than not, my dessert of the week is a Blizzard from Dairy Queen. Tonight a very pleasant Jonathan R (according to the receipt) made 2 of the most well prepared Blizzards my dude and I have ever had. His glasses were rad as well. Bravo Jonathan R. Bravo. they completely renovated this DQ, it is very nice to dine in. i have not been through the drive through after the renovation but the drive through used to be very tight. and of couse the blizzards never disappoint. steakfingers are always good as usual, but the toast is not as greasy and good as whataburgers. still love DQ, yall have the best blizzards (sonic's sonic blast is no where near blizzards). one suggestion to the store, you should put some sort of dessert menu on the tables when people dine, so they can be lured to get dessert after they grease themselves with the steakfingers. i didnt feel like walking to the front of the store to see what flavor blizzards they were offering while i was waiting on my steakfingers, so thought that might be helpful. read more

Since moving to right down the road, I've come to visit this DQ a lot, despite having exactly 3 times between being born and the age of 25 (when I moved over here). Whataburger will always have a special place in my heart that nothing else can top, but DQ runs a very close second. Like the whataburger up the road at Ben White, I've never had a single problem with any of my orders, but despite whataburger being just down the road and having giant cups and being open 24/7, I choose DQ because of customer service. I've never asked them to do anything truly exceptional so I can't say how they'd perform in that regard, but almost everyone there seems to make an effort to go above the norm, aside from an older lady one time, though it should be clarified that it was not a bad experience--she simply wasn't above. I always see a white manager and a bunch of Hispanic guys and they're all always helpful, friendly while maintaining their professionalism, and active, running food, taking orders, and cleaning tables. They're a likable group and that fact alone makes it worth the while. They have free wifi but don't advertise it (maybe they're not suppose to...) which is good because, only downside I've personally experienced, is that the restaurant has TERRIBLE cell phone reception. The further you are from the kitchen the better reception gets so it must be equipment or something interfering. Bathrooms always clean. Their teas are really good. Does the drivethru suck? I don't know, I don't have a car. Is the food more expensive than McD's? Yes, and it tastes so much better too. read more

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked through the door of this Dairy Queen. I hadn't been there in at least seven years and didn't have high hopes. The place was very clean. The workers were friendly. I could hear the cooks singing in the kitchen. Awesome! We only got ice cream so I can't judge the food (plus fast food isn't my thing). Waited 20 minutes in line right after the local high school had been released. When I went to the front of the line to see the hold up, no one was taking orders. Three people standing behind the counter talking. When I said something to them, "Shouldn't someone be taking orders?" I was told, "Ma'am we are working on it." Returned to the end of the line and continued waiting for another 10 minutes, one order taken in that time. I left and I will never return. The restaurant had two registers and only one person taking orders, and he seemed more concerned with talking to his co-workers. If management knows that everyday at that time a lot of high school students will be coming in then they should have more than one person working register at the least. read more

DQ has some great burgers and their ice cream is delicious. Normally I would recommend DQ to anyone but this location dropped the ball. Just left the drive thru. I order the Texas Blizzadd combo for 5.99. My "blizzard" was a tiny styrofoam cup. It had little top on it, so does the upside down thing still count? I asked the guy at the window,"what's this?" He said that was my blizzard. I informed him that this isn't the first time I ordered this and I always get what's in the picture. A blue cup, not this tiny styrofoam cup. He just giggled like I was joking. Told the guy y'all just lost my business and the guy just laughed. With all the burger places in Austin, especially with the rise of In n out or Terrys, I thought I would go where I have been going for years instead. Well where can I start? I can say one thing. Very filthy jobs in there. I came here few times. First one, I found a hair in my pulled pork sandwich. Second time, I asked them to replace my fries which was burnt TWICE! The Burger was too dry and my girls didn't want to bite by looking at them. Finally today, I fed up with this place because I have few gift cards left to use up for DQ from our family. I have been using them here on first and second visits. Now today I show up with my girls after their school. I just want to treat them ice cream on a beautiful day. Now after I order, they said they have new system and they can't accept gift card. Their manager Greg and owner are rock stars. I ordered a peanut buster parfait through the drive thru and when I got home I felt like I was eating ice cream salty enough that it reminded me of getting an accidental gulp of seawater. Apparently someone had dumped the bottom of the bag of peanuts with all of the salt to make the peanut buster parfait that I ordered. Long story short: I emailed the owner and he offered me a free replacement. During my next visit their manager Greg was possibly the nicest manager at a fast food restaurant on earth. read more

I've been to this location multiple times over the last year, mostly driving through during my lunch break, and I usually have a satisfactory, unremarkable fast-food experience. The last few times, however, I've been a bit annoyed with how the drive-thru guys (never any women when I drive up) have been acting with me. At first I chalked it up to typical fast-food over-the-top friendliness (I've worked fast food before and know how much that is encouraged), but today I had two different guys make comments like "you /deserve/ to have a good day" and "have a great day, /beautiful/" that made it clear they were trying to hit on me. Maybe these comments would seem meaningless or even complimentary to others, but as a young woman just trying to get a quick lunch, I left annoyed and uncomfortable. I hope management can talk to these guys and make it clear that while talking to female customers like that may seem benign, eventually it makes us leave and start going to places that treat us like ordinary customers, not eye candy. read more

The worse constructed drive thru in Austin, Texas. No way this thing is legally constructed per municipal building code. Despite warning signs, that are inadequate, not even a mini van should be taken through this shredder. The irony is that this restaurant has the nicest interior of any DQ I have experienced. The food is good. The service is good. The owners have done a remarkable job with the interior. However, this place is sadly in danger of becoming infamous for its horrific drive thru. Save your cars! Park and dine. Management/owners, do yourself a favor shut the drive thru down!! The class action law suit is coming. Use car hops. It would be a nice novel twist. Make your place a jewel in the DQ crown!!!! When you do, I will give you four stars and promote your place as having no equals in the DQ universe. read more

Crazy skinny drive thru! Be careful and don't use a big car. I enjoy the inside experience more than the drive thru anyway so not really a problem. I think they have really good burgers and fries for fast food and the best desserts. I love blizzards and their sundaes. I grew up on Dilly bars and butterscotch dipped cones so I'm a total sucker for this place. Cheap too. read more
