This is a cute little place that I never would have found on my own. It's a decent place for a quick meal option. My boyfriend goes here with coworkers for the all-you-can-eat sushi. It's pretty cheap and conveniently located for them, so it's a good option for them. I'm not generally a fan of places with all-you-can-eat sushi as the quality isn't generally the greatest. We came here for lunch because it was close by. I wasn't really hungry at that particular moment, so we decided to just share one of the lunch specials. The tuna roll and the salmon roll were pretty good--I wouldn't have minded eating more of those. But we also got the Boston roll, which neither of us particularly enjoyed. I think it wouldn't have tasted so bad if it wasn't for the lettuce inside. Just the combination of that with the the rest of the roll made it taste a little strange. Other than that, I thought the place itself was very cute. The servers were very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. I don't know that I would say I'm definitely coming back, but the place was decent for a cheap and easy lunch. read more

Okay, thank you, we know... We weren't concerned about the price for us or the kids. Absolutely rude. The service was absolutely horrendous. We had questions about the menu & all-you-can-eat options and got blank stares. Yes, there's a language barrier but still. All 6 of us got all-you-can-eat, ate tons of food and we had 4 pieces of a roll left on the table and we're told that we "have to eat it" or we're going to get charged. I understand that they don't want waste but 4 pieces of a roll? No. Not paying for it after spending $150 in your restaurant to be treated like animals. I felt like I might get charged if I drank another glass of water. And to top it off, all of us have been sick since dinner last night, puking, diarrhea, etc. Stay away from Dai Wa unless you want to spend all your money on less then decent sushi that makes you want to die the next day. read more

I have eaten sushi literally all over the world.... Tokyo, Yokohama, Sasabo, Dubai, Australia, Guam, etc, and this place is good. Very edible and flavorful. Decor - clean and plain. Service - polite, efficient, and attentive without being overbearing. Fish doesn't smell and is correctly prepared. The rice is also properly done and authentic which is often a sign of cut rate sushi. I have eaten here numerous times and have always had a pleasant and delightful meal. Others who I have invited to eat with me here have enjoyed it as well. I don't know what the haters expect or even know about sushi, but their experience has not been mine. YMMV. In comparison to my usual sushi fix(volcano sushi), this place isn't worth the lunch price. As far as entrees, they do have more Asian cuisines. The rolls however, are definitely on the plain side for lunch. They had maybe 4 special rolls to choose from and then the regular ones you could get literally anywhere. I just expected a lot more from the experience given it has "sushi" in the name of the restaurant. As far as the staff goes they were generally friendly, but it's not something I would consider to be as "great service." Was disappointed honestly. I may go back another time for dinner to see if that's any better, but I definitely will not be back for lunch. read more

Went in for a late lunch around 2pm. The restaurant was uncomfortably dark for my liking. The waitress was a little rude but the waiters were friendly. The lunch plate is reasonable for the price but I wish it has description in the rolls. The salad was like 4 pieces of old lettuce a slice of soggy tomato and one slice of dry cucumber, it had a fair amount of dressing. I got an avocado roll and salmon roll.. They were very plain, avocado roll was only avocado wrapped in rice. So like I said not bad for $10 but had I known I would have skipped the lunch plate and ordered full rolls. Originally, I was going to give this place 2 stars. 3 would be pushing it. I demoted this place to 1 star for a reason but let me tell you first what was ok about the place. I come from California where there are many really good sushi spots. I know the best spots specially for ayce sushi. I KNOW good sushi. This place serves OK sushi at best. Some of the things we got were horrendous but we ate it because we didn't want to pay for the extra charge. The appetizers are the only reason my husband liked this place. He gave some tofu teriyaki to our daughter and she seemed to like it and so did we. The service was ok. The workers clearly don't communicate about the customers. We were seated and 3 different workers came at different times asking us what we would like to order when we ordered from the guy who seated us. Every couple of minutes someone would come up and ask if we want anything else. Now, the reason I dropped the stars was because I KNOW how much tip I put but when the charge came through, it says I paid more. Our bill was $43 and some change so I gave a $6 and some change as tip to make it an even $50. My card was charged $55. To some, you might say they duped you for an extra $5 no big deal. We are not rich and every little bit counts for my family. Now you might ask well why don't you say something? -__- Unfortunately, I didn't keep my copy of the receipt so I have no proof. I'm an accountant so my memory is really good when it comes to numbers. I KNOW what I wrote and it was NOT an 11 dollar tip. I was going to come back to this place because it is the closest sushi spot but after being cheated for my money, i'm never going back. The food was decent, not as fresh as I would like it to be, but really no complaints on the sushi. However the service was absolutely terrible. We walked in and the waitress pointed at a table and shouted from across the restaurant to "sit there". Throughout the entire meal no one, besides a man in blue shirt tried to show us any sort of kindness or hospitality. We would thank them for bringing us our next plate and the would just walk away with a angry look on our face. Literally the most disgusting food I've ever paid for. My hibachi chicken was literally both burnt and liquid. Not sure how they managed that one. The sushi smelled off and took forever and they forgot most of our order. We came with 5 adults and 2 kids. Service was good. We did the all u can eat. Some of the rolls were really good and others not so much. I ordered a las vegas roll and it was loosely wrapped so it fell apart when trying to eat it. The fish on top didn't look or taste fresh and it had some sweet fish eggs that wasn't in the description that were not good. Spider roll was ok. MacArthur roll was good and the butterfly roll was really good. Other people in my group only said theirs were mediocre and the bbq squid was over cooked. Pretty good for the area! I would walk from the Norfolk base for dinner. They have the best plum sake, and I love their shrimp tempura. I became such a dinner regular, they would always bring me my Sapporo before I even asked for it. The sushi has a pretty solid range of options, including shashimi, and a few vegetarian options. They have a few variations of udon on the menu too. Lunch is always packed with military, and usually a little calmer for dinner. There's better places around, but if you have limited mobility, this is a good place to sit down and relax. read more

This place would be great if you went for everything except the sushi. Unfortunately, if you're going here, you're going for the sushi, and it isn't good. They have this cool deal where kids below 40-in eat for free while those under 48-in go for half the price at $6.95 all you can eat . Too bad their height chart is inaccurate by a few inches. The steak hibachi didn't come with yum yum sauce and was the most disgusting thing I've ever paid for. All the avocado in my rolls was WAY overripe, and the fish did not taste fresh. It tasted super off. The hostess didn't even look up at us when we came in because she was on her phone, we had a bunch of different waitresses that made us not get half our food in the confusion, and it took forever to just get the check. Got the Bento box for $10 and a spicy California roll for $6. The sushi was some of the best around and the Bento box did not skimp on variety, however the miso soup was rather bland. Included in the Bento box was Hibachi steak, fried rice, a spring roll, miso soup, and a cup of fresh fruit. It was enough to fill me up and still take some home for the wife. Overall good quality fresh made food with moderately high pricing. If I do return it will be for the sushi. They also do a "new style" lunch ($12) and dinner ($22) buffet. read more

This place was GROSS! I started out with Miso soup and something didn't taste right about it. So I drowned it in soy sauce. Still wasn't good. Edamame was way too salty. I ordered a Hampton roll and I'm pretty sure I'll end up with food poisoning because the fish did not taste good. Had a little fishy flavor too. I ended up just getting that.
