They make their food fresh daily on site or to order, and the place opens at 8:00 am. I ordered a grilled pork bánh mì and a special bánh mì, each for $7.10. Honestly, they're not as good as the bánh mì I usually get back in OC, but they're decent enough. The Vietnamese coffee was just okay nothing special. I also got some sticky rice and a steamed bun. This mom and pop establishment always has a line of some sort whenever I am craving a banh mi sandwich. The ambiance vibe is giving an old school Vietnamese banh mi shop. Dakao is my favorite spot whenever I'm craving for banh mi! It's located in this small plaza right in the corner and parking can sometimes be difficult due to how tight/disorganized it can be. The place itself is clean, small, and more of a pickup spot. However, there are a few chairs and tables to dine in and sit at while you wait. They have fridges full of drinks, snacks, and other Vietnamese dishes that you can pickup along with your sandwiches. My go-to order is always their #1 - House Special and whenever they have nem chua, I pick that up as well. It's so good here and they give the right amount of meat, pickled veggies, and spread. I believe they do charge a credit card fee, so cash is preferred! Service is always good. They're always friendly and quick. Keep in mind, they do have a buy 5 get 1 free! My only complaint is that I've asked to cut my 2 sandwiches in half before since I like to eat half and save the other for another meal. I tried the Banh Mi Dac Biet (always my go to). The sandwich was good, however I think it was a little thin. From previous experiences, my banh mi are generally pretty full, and I would have liked for them to add a little more meat. I came with two others and we love that it opens at 8 AM!! there were already a group of other people here at 8:30 in the morning so there was a little bit of a wait. I don't think there are any bad picks from the menu! There's one vegan option available. They pack a great portion of the meat in the sandwich. The cashier may be a little short to you sometimes but he means well. There are two tables for dining with chairs, one for two, and one for four. Then there are 2-3 chairs for waiting. This is a great place for a quick bite or a to go order, but not to study/linger too long. The vegetables are also fresh and well-portioned. It's not too different from other Viet sandwich shops I've been to, they are just vegetables after all. I was really disappointed with my experience here. While waiting for my order, I witnessed a very uncomfortable and unacceptable interaction. One employee (a short-haired woman) called out an order number. The customer walked up to the counter, but apparently didn't respond loudly enough. The employee then made a rude comment in Vietnamese, calling the customer "a stupid mute," clearly assuming the customer didn't understand the language. It was shocking and incredibly disrespectful to hear staff openly trash a customer like that.
