Excellent value, OK food. Had a breakfast there on July 5th for two, for $15, and left stuffed. I had an excellent spinach, tomato and provolone omelet (special) that was amazingly tasty, decent cheese grits, wheat toast, and a slice of cantaloupe. My gf had blueberry pancakes, which were a little flat and bland, with a side of soysage, which was just decent. Coffee was ok. What makes the meal great is all that for $15. They also had awesome vegan and vegetarian selections for our dietary needs. My boyfriend got the Atomic Hoedown with toast instead of Johnny cakes and I got the Dallas Cowboy with soysage. Went here last night with the family and had a mixed experience. The food was just okay. I had the cuban, which was not the best I have ever had nor was it the worst. The service was also just okay. Our waitress was nice enough despite disappearing for a while about the time we needed the check. The other woman working, however, looked like she was having a bad day. I said hello to her as we walked in and I actually think she scowled at me. Maybe it was the three kids we had in tow, but still. At least try to make the customers feel welcome. read more

Cuban is underfilled for the roll size. Bread is very dry and crisp more like toast than a pressed sandwich. Mid-afternoon on a Tuesday had plenty of servers for not being very busy. They just aren't attentive at all. As long as you aren't in a hurry and don't mind asking for everything a normal server would ask you if you wanted (drink refill, etc), then you will be fine. We loved it! Except for the food. The food was just okay. Hit and miss, sandwich minimal on the meat. Roast pork on it was kinda bland. Fries great. Nachos great except not enough cheese. Service great, fellow patrons great (it was out anniversary and we easily found a photo helper) kid area fantastic if you don't mind them getting a little dirty. This place is terrible. I ordered the Reuben Cuban. The sandwich I received was pot roast, covered in sauerkraut. I asked the server about it, and she replied, "Yeah, they like ran out of corned beef, so they had to use other meat". Why she didn't think to tell me this prior to serving me is beyond me. Stay away from this place, unless you like servers lacking basic service skills and weird pot roast sandwiches. Also, from what I saw the kitchen is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. If you are not a regular, don't expect much attention. I went in for an early dinner at about 4:45pm and there was 1 server working and the table already seated was keeping her too busy for her to offer water or a menu after directing me to "sit anywhere." After about 10 min of browsing the beverage menu on the table, I left. The pizza place across the street does not offer by the slice, so I reluctantly returned. I work in Grant Park but I always opt to eat at Grand Central. I decided to stop in for lunch on a random beautiful day. I like the fact that they are very family friendly, even having a book shelf with donated books for children to read! The few tables that are cramped on the sidewalk just don't give me a patio feel at all but the inside is quite simple and spacious. I had the lamb sandwich for lunch, the lamb was nice n tender n juicy and flavorful and my salad was simple but good n fresh. The tator tots were also pretty basic - nothing to really Oohh&Aahh about here. It's just really a laid back atmosphere, just like Grant Park..but would I go back? Sat on the patio so that our dog can join too :) Had the eggs Florentine and the omelette special (chorizo and provolone). Really this place is simply my go to Grant Park neighborhood restaurant. It is no frills and casual. They recently did a remodeling of the main dining room in the last year and it really spiffed up the joint. They have a good beer selection for a place of its size. We have rated their tator tots best in town. For dinner I love their cheeseburger which tastes like it was cooked over an open flame grill. During warmer months their seats outside are wonderful and the space is very dog friendly even for our goofy Great Dane. If you are there for brunch you can normally get a table during peak hours which is rare in this city. I love the huevos ranchero and get it every time. We eat here almost every other weekend--the food is insanely good, there is never a wait (maybe I should say it's bad so this place never gets crowded....), the servers are all super nice and parking is easy. Definitely get the baby daddy skillet or the atomic hoedown. I've even gotten burritos for breakfast there before and been pleased with my decision. My only tiny beef is that they don't have soy or almond milk as an alternative to dairy creamer. But....I may just bring my own in a tiny container, that's how much I love eating here. read more

Dakota Blue is a great Grant Park stop if you're in the area and want some simple and inexpensive eats. We stopped by after walking around the park in need of some good appetizers and a drink. We were shocked to see all the outside tables taken by 4:30 PM on a Sunday, which I think speaks to the casual vibes of the restaurant. We got their chips and cheese and they were perfect for those looking for a simple queso. It had a nice heat from the jalapenos and was nicely textured with the cheese running off the chips. I was undecided on the margarita and got a miller lite instead. However, the server brought me a taste of the marg just to try. SO NICE! I was torn because some margarita mixes aren't super refreshing but this was nicely sweetened without being too sugary. Will get this next time we go back. The portion sizes are super substantial especially for how inexpensive the meals are. The fries from the chicken tender basket were nice and crispy. I ordered the Southwestern egg rolls. Was only disappointed that the pico and lettuce weren't inside the roll but they were pretty good. Luckily I was torn between a few options (Burrito, grilled cheese, tacos) so I know I have other dishes to try. Our meal came out to around $28 with an app, two entrees, and two beers. Definitely a cheap date. This is a great Grant Park restaurant to people watch and enjoy a cheap beer and dish. read more

This place is great. It is never too crowded for brunch which I really appreciate. You can sit outside or inside and they allow dogs on the patio. On Sundays it is great to grab brunch and then walk over to the Grant Park Farmer's Market. The good is really good, we have enjoyed everything we have ordered.
