ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING WENT WELL! We had the best server our wonderful Diana, which I requested to be at her table because simply she's the best. She is wonderful, kind, friendly, efficient, professional, knowledgeable and very hardworking. The whole team at DAMA is amazing. The 2 young ladies at the hostess counter were very nice and welcoming. The food is out of this world, perfection in every way. OMG Chef Antonia Lefaso you're a genius, and one day we will meet you. Every dish we had was delicious and creative, we still talk about it. The restaurant is simply beautiful, indoor and outdoor and patio. Great valet service. I wish you would open a location in Glendale or Pasadena that would be a dream come true. Thank you Diana for always being amazing and we had the best birthday celebration
Upon arrival you greeted with a wonderful hostess who sat us, a party of 5. Each dish was equally delicious in their own right. The food was served expeditiously. The ambience is warm and friendly on the inside near the bar. Plenty of seating available indoors or out for a large party. Wine selection is good.

It's never a bad time at Dama went back here to show my friend the spot after fabric shopping in La . Ordered a couple small plates and got to take my fur baby with me to enjoy and treat him to lamb ! The service was great and they adored poro ! Food was delicious and vibes are relaxing and chill
I really enjoy coming here. The vibe of the restaurant and surrounding area is so much fun and lively. Food always hits the spot and we pick something different every time. Whipped beans, and lamb are my favorites so far. Service never disappoints, server will recommend and always so friendly. This is the second time I've recommended this place to friends and family and they all agree that it's really good. Will definitely come back soon.
One of the best elevated mexican food I ever had. I can't wait to come back and try the other dishes. My gf and I tried this spot on valentine's day (yeah, i know, little late on the review, but hear me out), it was really romantic i must say. Dimmed lights, patio seating and live music is hard to beat. Our favorite dish was the pork shank, because it was tender and nice to put our own tacos together. My gf really enjoyed the salad, it was fluffed with cheese and it didn't misss. The chorizo and clams was my favorite. Dipping the bread in the juices was sooooo good! Parking can be found on the streets. Might be a little hard, but be prepared to walk.
I brought my husband here for his birthday and it did not disappoint! Valet parking right outside the restaurant is $14 (they take cards) and is super convenient. We arrived early for our reservation which was no problem, they seated us right away. This is such a gorgeous restaurant! We were seated on the patio and the weather was perfect. At one point the heaters turned on, I asked for them to be turned off and they happily obliged. They have a huge bar and a nice menu of craft cocktails and flights. We each had a cocktail, I had a glass of wine, and he had their whiskey flight as well. All the drinks were great. Menu is a lot of small plates and a handful of entrees. We decided to stick to the small plates so we could try many different things. We ordered Whipped Beans, Empanadas, Lamb Chops, Fried Chicken Tacos, and Crispy Squash Flowers. LOVED IT ALL. My favorites though were the whipped beans - the crispy carnitas on top were soooo good, and the fried chicken tacos, which were very spicy but so scrumptious. My husband couldn't handle the heat and I gladly finished his taco. For dessert were ordered the Fluffernutter, which was the only thing we didn't enjoy much. The fried shell was bland, the marshmallow was way too sweet, and I felt it could have had more bananas for substance, and more salt to cut the sweetness. I was prepared to spend about $300 for this meal, and I was pleasantly surprised when the bill came and it was under $200 for everything! I'd love to come back here again with friends so we can try even more of the menu.
My SO took me here for Valentine's Day dinner and I would say he did a really good job:)) The parking was a little tricky since there was only street parking but we were still able to find one nearby. This area was in a small plaza with other restaurants and bars. There was plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. We sat outdoors but it wasn't too cold since they had heaters. The vibes were vibing with moody lights and really unique decor. I felt like this place is perfect for everyone since we saw lots of couples, even families and friends. We ordered some appetizers and 1 entree to share. WOW! All the food was amazing. So much flavor in every dish. I highly recommend this place if you enjoy Mexican food!
Food 3.5/5: Aguachile was very yummy (like nigiri), calamari was pretty unique, and lamb chops were amazing and I usually don't like lamb because of the strong smell. Drinks were pretty average, as well as the crispy pork shank and desserts (flan and churros). Nothing stood out and won't be back next time. Service 5/5: attentive server. Ambiance 5/5
The food here has always been good. Still good this time around. The empanadas were delicious, and the black squid ink calamari are a hit. The flavors are chef's kiss. The drinks are amazing as well. Strong and doesn't taste watered down. Our server was very nice and checked in with is frequently. I've always liked the vibes of this place, as it has that latin inspired theme. Since it is the world cup they had TVs set up and showed the games. Dama is always a must try. The churros were also good.
Had dinner here Sunday night and I don't think we could be more disappointed. Server was nice but service was very slow. Took awhile to get drinks and order. We ordered the calamari, seafood paella, and fried chicken tacos. My daughter liked her tacos but they were pretty basic. The calamari was just ok Only the last few pieces had any real flavor to them. The seafood paella was the more disappointing of all and it was of course the most expensive. Sad amount of seafood. And absolutely no flavor. Like none. Just a pile of cilantro. We were flabbergasted. Would not eat here again. And I feel the reviews have to be dishonest after our experience
Dama was wonderful. I highly recommend it. It is in the fashion district of LA which you would never know is there. They have a parking lot across the street that you can park at or you can drive to their valet. We chose the lot across the street which was secured with a security guard and very well lit. Once inside the restaurant is beautiful. It's so elegant and very welcoming. The atmosphere is really down to earth. There is a beautiful bar in the middle of the restaurant with tons of tables all around including a small patio for seating. We were a party of eight and I made reservations online. The menu is more like tapas, small plates that are able to be shared. Our server was very helpful in guiding us on how to work the menu. He suggested that we order lots of small plate items to share since there was eight of us, two of each item was best. It was perfect! All items were wonderful. We loved the Aguachiles, bread, arepas, whipped beans, quesadillas and guacamole. We had 3 more plates but by the time the last 3 came out, we were getting stuffed. This is a hidden gem in LA. Our server Zack was amazing and so incredibly helpful.
DAMA was such a great experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly attentive and genuinely kind, which really elevated the whole night. We were celebrating a birthday and they surprised us with a complimentary glass of prosecco -- such a thoughtful touch and very much appreciated. A The tapas were excellent - flavorful, well-presented, and perfect for sharing. Every dish we tried hit the mark, and the pacing was just right so we could enjoy everything without feeling rushed.

Came here a couple times to celebrate some birthdays and both times were very nice! Both times we ordered some small plates to share family style and it was really enjoyable. Things I would order again: -corn -calamari -bread -crispy squash flowers -lamb chop -watermelon margarita Things i wish they would bring back: -september morn cocktail The paella was a good dish to share, we opted for the option without seafood and it was pretty good because it reminded me of chipotle! Service, ambiance and food always exceeds my expectations. Definitely worth the trip from the West Side of LA, especially if you have out of towners visiting. Valet parking is convenient and safe. If you have to wait, bocce ball courts are on the side of the building. Cocktail program is strong. read more

Located in Downtown Fashion District, DAMA is a popular restaurant and bar. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. There's plenty of seating but I highly suggest you make reservations as this place tends to be busy. My party and I ordered the Aguachile, Calamari, Empanadas, and cocktail drinks. Our waiter was great, drinks were ok, food was served quickly. The aguachiles were my favorite. They really had a kick to them. The decor is really cute, but parking can be a bit challenging. They do offer valet parking. read more
There were definitely some great things about the food at Dama but there's also a few things about the experience that could be improved. The highlights of this tapas-style dinner for me were the lamb chops and the crispy pork shank. The lamb chops were super juicy and the pork shank fell right off the bone. These were definitely shareable and delicious. The fish taco unfortunately comes with a single taco which is very hard to share. I felt that was an impractical dish for a tapas menu. The empanadas are quite frankly the smallest empanadas I have ever seen. It's almost comical they would think a group let alone a pair would be able to divide these for a tapas plate. Would recommend finding a tapas place that's a better value for your $. read more

This place was such a gem! Came here as a surprise dinner, so had no expectations of this place at all, but happy to say that this place was amazing! The staff was awesome and also super attentive. Loved the concept of this place since everything is tapas style so its great for groups so you can try a bunch of different items. You literally cannot go wrong with anything on here because everything we got was delicious. We tried the Bread, Empanadas, Crispy Squash Flowers, Corn, Clams & Chorizo, and the Seafood Paella. Out of everything, the clams & chorizo was definitely the stand out dish, as it had such a unique flavor from the broth, which can be soaked with the bread that they give you. The seafood paella, and the empanadas were just okay, as the paella was a little bit bland for my liking and the empanadas were just pretty standard. But besides that, looking forward to trying their other items next time! read more
Went here on a whim after a day at Universal Studios -- my wife and I are both on SoCal but have lived out of state for several years. Whenever we're back we MUST get some amazing food from some of our favorite chefs, and I'd long wanted to check out one of Chef Antonia's restaurants. We knew we needed to be close to DTLA to see a movie at Alamo Drafthouse and this was the perfect stop right before the movie. We had phenomenal service and stunningly good food -- elevated tapas that don't lose their grounding in the ingredients and the heritage of the dishes. We didn't have a bad bite. All the large plates are probably great but we loved getting 5 or so small plates and each got the sangria, which came with seasonal fruit and brandy and amaretto. What a great mix and perfect for a hot summer day. I'll be stealing that recipe. We got the empanadas, guacamole, arepa, and calamari and thru were each lights out. If we didn't have to catch a movie we could have easily ordered 3 or more additional plates. Perfect portions to where you feel each one is worth the money but you also don't feel like you're going to starve. Super yummy... you could easily spend a couple hours here and couldn't possibly have a bad time. We'll be back! read more
Ambiance was nice for being in such a bad area. Our waiter was nice, but the food was a hit or miss. We ordered a bunch of things off the menu and had it family style. The drinks were filled with ice cubes and barely anything left to drink. The bread was delicious and fresh. The empanadas, Croquettes, corn and lamb chops were also good. I didn't enjoy the crispy potatoes, potatoes were dry and seemed like they weren't made fresh to order. The crispy potatoes had more Brussel sprouts than actual potatoes and the seasoning for the dish just wasn't flavorful; don't recommend. The Charred Gem Salad was also not good, and the lettuce just wasn't fresh and would taste better not charred. The rotisserie chicken is not worth the price! At all! Barely any chicken and more than half the plate was French fries. Not sure if I'll be returning back, but if I do I'll avoid getting a few things off the menu. read more

While the downtown and low lite ambiance is nice, the restaurant lacked a group quality for the setting. As much as i like low romantic lighting, it was very dark. The meal was a variety of shared small plates and 1 entree, and while the flavor was there, we didn't quite feel everything felt cohesive. The empanadas were fine at best, but again, all small plates. I think my one highlight was the shared crispy potato side dish. It was honestly the best of all of it and that kinda says something. The server was nice and talked about the menu and drinks to us well, but the additional server/runner really missed the mark by bringing our dishes to the table with knives almost falling out of her hands. It was a little uncomfortable and happened twice. The parking is only valet or street parking at your own risk. read more

What a beautiful restaurant. Great food and drinks. Latin American food in a totally cool hipster modern fashion. Staff is very nice. Try then octopus the salad the croquetas and anything else. Great place for celebrations and family group office parities. Very sketchy neighborhood. Make sure to valet park ($15) or park in their lot. read more

The Ambience is romantic it's pretty dark. So dark couldn't really see the menu in front of me. Or food. Had to use my phone light. The chairs and tables are pretty small. Maybe because the restaurant is small that why it fells packed. You can literally touch the people in the next table. That food wasn't bad. Pricey but what you get for 5 star restaurant, in the middle of the worst part of downtown L.A. The staff was friendly. Don't know if I would go there again. read more
What an awesome place to hang out and have drinks and eat a delicious dinner. It's a hidden gem in the middle of the craziness of DTLA. You would never imagine that this little oasis exists in the middle of the chaos and homelessness. The service was awesome as our host and waitress went above and beyond. The restaurant is huge and we enjoyed sitting at the outside patio table. It's perfect to dine outside during the tail end of the summer when it's not too hot. Every dish delicious! I liked the street corn, whipped beans and the crispy squash blossom the best, the dessert is really yummy too. Looking forward to going back and trying the other dishes. read more

Great ambiance inside but it is a rather dingy neighborhood!! So prepare for that! We always come for the whipped beans and most of the small plates are really good. We have had a lot of their entrees and think that you could just load up on smaller plates and would be happier. The service is great and friendly! Wow!!! This place blew my expectations out of the water! From the decor to the service to the food! Everything we ordered tasted so good! First things first, do the valet and do not street park. It isn't the best neighborhood. Valet was $14. There's a nice bar area to chill and wait for the rest of your party to arrive. The vibe was chill and casual dress. Very hipster. We ordered the bread, empanadas, potatoes, tostadas, corn, and rib eye to share for a table of 4. You can't go wrong with anything. For dessert we over ordered and got the flan, tres leches sundae and the blonde brownie with churros. Loved my experience and will definitely go back! read more
I've been wanting to try this place for so long. I'm not even a big Spanish food fan but I've been to chef Antonia's other restaurants so I knew I would not be disappointed. First off, the space is beautiful!!! If it were not for the hostess with the resting bitch face, walking in would have been breathtaking. It's not a quiet space so don't come if you're looking for solitude...the vibe is "party" and I'm ok with that. I ordered a gin and tonic with Hendrix gin, waiter brought me Bombay and said they ran out of Hendrix. Weird. He was gracious enough to take it back and bring me something else. I don't know why I didn't start with the mojito...it was perfect. All of the dishes were fantastic. We had five small plates and, after that, no room for an entree. I was bummed because the pork shank looked amazing. The whipped beans are a dish I will crave...forever. So delicious!!! I'll be back to try a few more items and definitely save room for the pork!!! read more
Dama is wonderful! The staff were all super friendly, helpful and checked in regularly. As this was shared plates, our server gave us recommendations for dishes and quantities which were spot on. We each had a different cocktail, but the Derby Cocktail Tropical was our favorite! The bread with tomato confit was excellent, fresh and delicious. I was eager to try Whipped Beans and they were amazing. Corn was fun presentation and really yummy. Server recommended lamb chops and they were a total hit with our group! Everything was fantastic. The moment we walked into Dama, it felt like a tropical getaway with the lush greenery and Havana-esque aesthetics. We ordered a few items and every single item was absolutely delicious. The beef cheek tostada was perfectly cooked, topped with fresh greens and cabbage and served with a side of pickled veggies. O M G. Buenísimo. Impromptu date night with my girl, she brought me here for our second dinner (came from Cara Cara after having the worlds best mussels) and didn't think it could be topped but Dama did so so good. Everything is perfectly shareable which I really liked. Ambiance is dim and comfortable. We sat by the bar which is more fun. WHIPPED BEANS $18. This does not sound tasty but IT WAS SO GOOD. I cannot explain how creamy and airy they were with cotija cheese and crispy pork on top. Every bite was heavenly. This came with perfect house made tortilla chips which were thin without falling apart when you scoop the whipped beans. Calamari $19. Black from squid ink, this was also excellent. Although it sounds basic, it was far from it. The pickled Serrano and lime really balances the fried calamari and made it feel more like a refreshing dish. Perfect for snacking as you drink. Cocktails: Spencer our bartender made a great cocktail with Angel's Envy whiskey per our request. Very accommodating staff in a friendly environment. I'm impressed with this place and cannot wait to try all the other plates. New fave for sure. read more

Dama is a tapas style place with delicious food, great drinks and a wonderful ambiance. The service is impecable and their staff is knowledgeable about all of the menu items. The Empanadas are packed with flavor and the sauce on the side is the perfect pairing. The croquettes are crunchy on the outside and so creamy on the inside. The crispy potatoes are a must! I don't tend to like basil, but I will eat an entire order of these myself! The calamari has such a distinct flavor, if you enjoy light and crispy calamari, don't skip this one. I was hesitant to order the corn, but y'all...the queso fresco is made in house. It's delicious. The drink I order most often is a classic Paloma, it is my favorite. read more
Religious watcher of Tournament of Champions here (all 5 seasons as of the time of this writing!) I went down a rabbit hole looking into restaurants of the Chefs from the West Coast and was happy to find quite a few. Dama is one such restaurant from Chef Antonia Lofaso! Her other restaurant Scopa is amazingly delicious as well! The following rankings are after 3 separate visits, and are time tested. Following are listed in ranking order! 1. lamb chops $35; 5 pieces of tender, succulent, rich, not gamey lamb chops, you won't regret this! 2. whipped beans $19; bean dip, perfect canvas for the fried chicharrones, deeply addicting; reminded me of hummus in terms of texture, to die for! 3. crispy potato $18, I'm sure these things are cooked 3 ways to achieve this amazingness; boiled, baked and fried! covered in chimmichurri sauce 4. corn $18, served on popsicle stick, there's something addicting about the green sauce; I don't know what is in it, except that you need to get it! 5. empanadas $17 - 5 pieces of oh so flakey pastry and the filling oh so tasty, we ordered a second round! 6. calamari $20 - fresh, not oily, however seems like the Italian parsley could have benefited from a lighter touch 7. seafood tostada $22 - solid, fresh, nothing particularly special (only because all dishes that came afterwards made this pale in comparison and forgettable) 8. crispy squash flowers $18 - fresh and definitely crispy; last here only because I'm lactose intolerant, so I can't have many of these There is valet parking $14, recommend as this isn't located in the best area. My bf and I came for date night and we love Spanish tapas so we were really excited to try this place! We made a reservation but it was pretty empty on a weekday dinner. We were seated on the patio which was nice to be out in the fresh air and there were heaters to keep us warm. The interior is gorgeous with a lot of greenery and a bar in the middle. Would definitely be pretty during the daytime! We ordered the aguachile, squash flowers, clam toast and charred octopus. The aguachile came with tortilla rounds that were so light and crispy. The aguachile was delicious and the sauce was soo yummy. I wish there was more fish considering the price was steep. The squash flowers were stuffed with cheese and light on the outside. It tasted like an elevated jalapeño popper. The clam toast was hands down my favorite dish of the night! I've never had a combination like this and it was really good. The toast was soft with clams and red sauce and some fresh leaves on top. The presentation was also beautiful! The charred octopus came on top of a bed of potato's and olives. I'm not a huge fan of olives and this dish had a strong olive taste. The octopus was good but the dish only came with a few pieces. We ended the night with flan and it was good but almost tasted like a cheesecake with how thick it was. My biggest complaint was the service here.. While our server was nice, he was not attentive at all and didn't check on us. We waited over 15 minutes after the first dish for our next dishes to come out. Our water cups were constantly empty and we would ask passing servers for refills if there was even anyone passing by. It felt like we couldn't get ahold of anyone majority of the night. Even at the end, after paying the bill we asked if we can get a refill on our water and our server said yes but never returned. We waited 10 min then decided to just leave because we figured he wouldn't come back. I'm glad I tried this place because the food and ambiance was good but I won't be back due to the poor service. read more
Visited over the weekend for a birthday and had such a lovely time. We had a party of 8 and they seated us in the patio at a very large table, a little too big for us actually it was kind of hard to talk to each other but we made it work. We split the table in half to make ordering and sharing food easier. 4 of us shared the Seafood Tostada, Charred Little Gem, Crispy Squash Flowers, Crispy Potato, and Lamb Chops. My favorite was the squash flowers, I know it's fried and stuffed with cheese but it taste light somehow.. The potatoes were also delicious but there was more Brussels sprouts than potatoes. The lamb chops took a little long to come out but they were delicious. Would probably pass on the little gem, the charred lettuce and dressing distribution didn't work for this dish. I would love to return for a date night or get together since the tapas style makes it easy to order a little bit of everything and share with the table.! read more

They actually bothered to ask if any of us had any allergies when we were ordering so I would say it's safe. (Please note, I don't have any allergies so I can't say for sure)

No, but I suggest looking at the dinner menu online to make sure there are plates they would eat with you. I have a 5yo who doesn't like spicy and she did great. Depends on the kid b/c it may not be the best restaurant for picky or "beige food"…
