ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING WENT WELL! We had the best server our wonderful Diana, which I requested to be at her table because simply she's the best. She is wonderful, kind, friendly, efficient, professional, knowledgeable and very hardworking. The whole team at DAMA is amazing. The 2 young ladies at the hostess counter were very nice and welcoming. The food is out of this world, perfection in every way. OMG Chef Antonia Lefaso you're a genius, and one day we will meet you. Every dish we had was delicious and creative, we still talk about it. The restaurant is simply beautiful, indoor and outdoor and patio. Great valet service. I wish you would open a location in Glendale or Pasadena that would be a dream come true. Thank you Diana for always being amazing and we had the best birthday celebration
Upon arrival you greeted with a wonderful hostess who sat us, a party of 5. Each dish was equally delicious in their own right. The food was served expeditiously. The ambience is warm and friendly on the inside near the bar. Plenty of seating available indoors or out for a large party. Wine selection is good.

It's never a bad time at Dama went back here to show my friend the spot after fabric shopping in La . Ordered a couple small plates and got to take my fur baby with me to enjoy and treat him to lamb ! The service was great and they adored poro ! Food was delicious and vibes are relaxing and chill
I really enjoy coming here. The vibe of the restaurant and surrounding area is so much fun and lively. Food always hits the spot and we pick something different every time. Whipped beans, and lamb are my favorites so far. Service never disappoints, server will recommend and always so friendly. This is the second time I've recommended this place to friends and family and they all agree that it's really good. Will definitely come back soon.
One of the best elevated mexican food I ever had. I can't wait to come back and try the other dishes. My gf and I tried this spot on valentine's day (yeah, i know, little late on the review, but hear me out), it was really romantic i must say. Dimmed lights, patio seating and live music is hard to beat. Our favorite dish was the pork shank, because it was tender and nice to put our own tacos together. My gf really enjoyed the salad, it was fluffed with cheese and it didn't misss. The chorizo and clams was my favorite. Dipping the bread in the juices was sooooo good! Parking can be found on the streets. Might be a little hard, but be prepared to walk.
I brought my husband here for his birthday and it did not disappoint! Valet parking right outside the restaurant is $14 (they take cards) and is super convenient. We arrived early for our reservation which was no problem, they seated us right away. This is such a gorgeous restaurant! We were seated on the patio and the weather was perfect. At one point the heaters turned on, I asked for them to be turned off and they happily obliged. They have a huge bar and a nice menu of craft cocktails and flights. We each had a cocktail, I had a glass of wine, and he had their whiskey flight as well. All the drinks were great. Menu is a lot of small plates and a handful of entrees. We decided to stick to the small plates so we could try many different things. We ordered Whipped Beans, Empanadas, Lamb Chops, Fried Chicken Tacos, and Crispy Squash Flowers. LOVED IT ALL. My favorites though were the whipped beans - the crispy carnitas on top were soooo good, and the fried chicken tacos, which were very spicy but so scrumptious. My husband couldn't handle the heat and I gladly finished his taco. For dessert were ordered the Fluffernutter, which was the only thing we didn't enjoy much. The fried shell was bland, the marshmallow was way too sweet, and I felt it could have had more bananas for substance, and more salt to cut the sweetness. I was prepared to spend about $300 for this meal, and I was pleasantly surprised when the bill came and it was under $200 for everything! I'd love to come back here again with friends so we can try even more of the menu.
My SO took me here for Valentine's Day dinner and I would say he did a really good job:)) The parking was a little tricky since there was only street parking but we were still able to find one nearby. This area was in a small plaza with other restaurants and bars. There was plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. We sat outdoors but it wasn't too cold since they had heaters. The vibes were vibing with moody lights and really unique decor. I felt like this place is perfect for everyone since we saw lots of couples, even families and friends. We ordered some appetizers and 1 entree to share. WOW! All the food was amazing. So much flavor in every dish. I highly recommend this place if you enjoy Mexican food!
Food 3.5/5: Aguachile was very yummy (like nigiri), calamari was pretty unique, and lamb chops were amazing and I usually don't like lamb because of the strong smell. Drinks were pretty average, as well as the crispy pork shank and desserts (flan and churros). Nothing stood out and won't be back next time. Service 5/5: attentive server. Ambiance 5/5
The food here has always been good. Still good this time around. The empanadas were delicious, and the black squid ink calamari are a hit. The flavors are chef's kiss. The drinks are amazing as well. Strong and doesn't taste watered down. Our server was very nice and checked in with is frequently. I've always liked the vibes of this place, as it has that latin inspired theme. Since it is the world cup they had TVs set up and showed the games. Dama is always a must try. The churros were also good.
Had dinner here Sunday night and I don't think we could be more disappointed. Server was nice but service was very slow. Took awhile to get drinks and order. We ordered the calamari, seafood paella, and fried chicken tacos. My daughter liked her tacos but they were pretty basic. The calamari was just ok Only the last few pieces had any real flavor to them. The seafood paella was the more disappointing of all and it was of course the most expensive. Sad amount of seafood. And absolutely no flavor. Like none. Just a pile of cilantro. We were flabbergasted. Would not eat here again. And I feel the reviews have to be dishonest after our experience
Dama was wonderful. I highly recommend it. It is in the fashion district of LA which you would never know is there. They have a parking lot across the street that you can park at or you can drive to their valet. We chose the lot across the street which was secured with a security guard and very well lit. Once inside the restaurant is beautiful. It's so elegant and very welcoming. The atmosphere is really down to earth. There is a beautiful bar in the middle of the restaurant with tons of tables all around including a small patio for seating. We were a party of eight and I made reservations online. The menu is more like tapas, small plates that are able to be shared. Our server was very helpful in guiding us on how to work the menu. He suggested that we order lots of small plate items to share since there was eight of us, two of each item was best. It was perfect! All items were wonderful. We loved the Aguachiles, bread, arepas, whipped beans, quesadillas and guacamole. We had 3 more plates but by the time the last 3 came out, we were getting stuffed. This is a hidden gem in LA. Our server Zack was amazing and so incredibly helpful.
DAMA was such a great experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly attentive and genuinely kind, which really elevated the whole night. We were celebrating a birthday and they surprised us with a complimentary glass of prosecco -- such a thoughtful touch and very much appreciated. A The tapas were excellent - flavorful, well-presented, and perfect for sharing. Every dish we tried hit the mark, and the pacing was just right so we could enjoy everything without feeling rushed.

Came to town for a work event and my coworkers and I came here for dinner. This place has tons of shareable plate options and everything had amazing flavor. The crispy potatoes, corn, and rotisserie chicken were my favorites. I would have to say dessert the blondie churro with ice cream is a must. All the food was very tasty and our waiters were very attentive. Also seemed to be bringing in a good crowd right as we were leaving. Hope to come back here one day. read more

Service here is great. They are very attentive and will give you recommendations. Ambiance here is really nice. Cute place to go with your girls or even a fun first date. The menu is smaller plates and a few large plates so great for big groups to try everything. The crispy potatoes were soooo flavorful and crispy. Recommend this. Lamb chops were also flavorful and great char. Aguachile is served with tostadas and is very refreshing. The arepa was good but pretty messy to eat so keep that in mind if sharing. Price is a little higher for portions but it is DTLA. Quality was spot on though. Overall Would come back :) Drinks aren't too strong. They were ok. read more
The ribeye is the star! Nicely done, medium. Perfect seasoning. We also delighted in the paella. The rice was fluffy and the fresh seafood harmonized well. Not the best paella this Central American has ever experienced but gets the job done for a paella virgin. So many appetizers touched our soul, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Seriously, even something as simple as the bread. Which is really fresh tomatoes, fresh olive oil with a side of bread;) Awesome date night location. (Our server was such a sweetheart, I felt like we'd been friends for years.) read more
Tucked in the Fashion District, this modern Latin restaurant is worth making a trip out to! Great drinks and small plates to share. This open atmosphere spot is good to meet up with friends for a lighter meal while enjoying an expertly made cocktail. It's pretty dimly lit so it has that romantic and intimate vibe going on. I recommend the September Morn. Frothy and strong with a hint of tartness! For food, we got a whole slew of items, but surprisingly the Corn was very good and memorable. A good amount of the menu is seafood-based and made to put on some chips. For parking, you'll most likely have to find parking nearby or get valet. I went to the Athena Parking down the street for $10 that was paid at a machine. read more
Came to dinner on a Saturday night with my boyfriend and it was an amazing dining experience. From the service to the food to the music playlist, everything was up to par. We ordered the Clam Toast, Whipped Beans, Corn, Empanadas, Calamari, Charred Octopus + Churros for dessert. Everything was delicious and came out in a timely manner. My favorites of the night had to be the Whipped Beans and Calamari. As for drinks, the margarita was the best. I truly can't wait to come again. read more
What a great addition to the Downtown fashion district food scene. DAMA did not disappoint in both ambiance and food. Cocktails were fantastic and we loved the vibe of the bar area. We moved to an extremely large table for 6... seriously we could have easily fit 10 there. A bit of a pain since it sort of split us into two groups. Top favorites of the night included the guacamole, lamb chops, oxtail tostada, corn and seafood tostada. I was not a fan of the celery salad or the crispy potatoes.. would skip those two in the future. Unfortunately we ordered so many small plates we never made it to mains. But that gives us a great reason to come back. The service was good but they are for sure understaffed. It was tough to get a large reservation but it didn't seem packed Saturday night. Our waiter would disappear for large stretches of time and we would have had more drinks if he was around more. Just be patient and order all your food at once because they did not have any issues of bringing the food out. read more

DAMA has been on my list, so when we were lucky enough to score a last-minute Valentines Day date, we jumped at the opportunity. The atmosphere was beautifully tropical and vintage. We sat on the patio which is lovely as well. We had a strange encounter with our server... my date and I were sitting next to each other on the booth side of the table and she told me this wasn't allowed and told me I needed to move. There was no one on either side of us and we weren't impeding service at all. I've never experienced this rule at any other restaurant and being that it was Valentines Day, I thought it was really strange to enforce this. We started with drinks: a martini and a passion fruit margarita. The martini was well-balanced and crisp. The margarita was fine, not too sweet, but lacking in flavor. For food, we had the guacamole (bland) and the whipped beans (rich, but served cold which threw me off). We also had the aguachile which was a standout--refreshing and delicate. The fried squash blossoms were okay, but the filling was a little runny. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Overall, the food is just okay and for the price, there are far better restaurants where you're not just paying for "vibes" and ambiance. read more

I've been wanting to eat at DAMA for quite awhile. Finally had the opportunity and was not disappointed at all. Started with a cocktail the Paloma which hit the spot. We were a party of four so we ordered a bunch of small plates including the crispy squash flowers, empanadas, guacamole, prawns, charred octopus, corn and crispy potatoes. Ordered 1 large plate to share as well which we decided on the rotisserie chicken. A few dishes really wowed me. The crispy squash flowers kept their crisp and had a nice light cheese filling. These were amazingly so good that I could have ordered another. The prawns were cooked perfectly and had so much flavor. These were my two favorite dishes of the night. The crispy potatoes were surprisingly super tasty and definitely crispy. The rotisserie chicken was also very flavorful and moist but but the portion size of the chicks was small served on an enormous plate. It was more like french fries with chicken versus chicken with fries. Overall it was a fabulous dinner and would definitely return. They have lots of outdoor and indoor seating. They have valet parking for $12 on San Julian which I preferred vs finding a lot nearby and walking. read more

NEVER disappoints, we make it a point to stop here every time we come to the LA area. The whipped beans with crispy pork is my absolute favorite, and my husband said the clam toast is the best thing that he has ever eaten. If someone wants to tell me how to make the whipped beans with crispy pork, then let me know read more

Wow! This restaurant was beyond delicious + the staff were very kind and hot. We walked in without a reservation on a Friday and were given seats at the bar. For a party of 2 this was perfect! The seats were high but more comfortable than the usual bar stools found elsewhere. The bartender was busy but checked in with us so we could get in and out in under 45 mins! We had the whipped beans, piquello toast , pulpo and a glass of wine and we were on our way. Every, single, bite was unbelievably yummy! I plan to come back when I have more time to try everything else on the menu. read more
Huge indoor and outdoor space with lots of cute ambient lighting situated in the heart of historic birthplace of LA and the pacific banana factory. The food and presentation are amazing and the ambiance is high end and sure to impress. Perfect for large groups, date night, easy to park and valet as well. How have I never reviewed Dama?? It's only one of my fav restaurants in LA... Whenever friends ask for my recs, Dama usually figures prominently in that list. I've been here numerous times and it never disappoints. The vibes are tropical sexy vacation, like I'm in South America or Spain. Feels like I've temporarily traveled abroad basically... which is where I want to be. It's beautiful inside and outside... literally & figuratively ;) The food is perfectly seasoned, not a bland bite in sight. I've dumped some photos below... a picture is worth a thousand words. Drinks are well crafted. The ambiance is upscale and FUN. I truly feel this is one of the best valued restaurants around town... you get a lot of bang for your $buck. It's great in groups or for dates/small catchups. Service is always warm and friendly. Sometimes I try calling or walking in, more often I try to reserve. But the restaurant is large so it's always worth a try, and I've def been successful in squeezing in. Even if you want to stop by for a drink it's worthwhile. I've done that after going to rossoblu before - their neighbor across the way (also a lovely establishment that I'd recommend if pasta and wine is more your mood). Parking isn't ideal, but depending on the hour I'm usually able to park a street over in the fashion district. Writing this is making me itch to go back to Dama... read more

Dama never disappoints me. Been coming here for several years now and every time I dine here, I leave with the same great experience. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and the foods and drinks are amazing. I also love their Latin theme and the ambience here. Whipped beans is a must order dish so is seafood tostada. read more

Came here for the first time with my husband (on a Monday night) and we just used valet for parking $12 (so much easier and safer); however I can see how someone might get a little confused since there isn't a sign for the restaurant. We were sat outside, it had been raining and it was a bit cold even with the heaters that were on the opposite side of us (I will say we were offered to sit in a corner that apparently wasn't as cold, however it felt a bit isolated). The place was packed! Drinks: They were all pretty good! *DAMA OLD FASHIONED - $20...Elijah Craig house barrel, sugar, bitters --- I really enjoy old fashions and this was no different (cost was a bit much). *STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI - $16...Rum, strawberry, lime --- Surprisingly this was my favorite! The drink was very fresh, light and didn't taste of sugar. *DERBY COCKTAIL TROPICAL - $18 ... Bourbon, pineapple, lemon, mint --- not our favorite. Food: *OYSTERS - $4.50/EA OR $45/DZ...coriander mignonette, cocktail sauce, fresh horseradish, lemons ... A bit pricey for oysters, but they were at least fresh. *OXTAIL TOSTADA - $7...cabbage, queso fresco, avocado crema, hot pickled veg, lime, cilantro --- Comes with two. Very light crispy shell, but packed with flavor and it was a little messy but definitely worth it! *CLAM TOAST - $21... chorizo, chili flake, spanish cider, basil oil, watercress, frisee, garlic saffron aioli --- Who would have thought clams and chorizo would be a good mix?! *LAMB CHOPS - $30 ... olive salsa verde, arugula, lime --- The lamb chops were tender and juicy. Service: *The staff was nice and friendly! Overall service wasn't bad, we didn't see our waiter too often. Everything tasted good and we especially loved their drinks, but giving 4 stars because nothing blew our minds taste wise and the service was not anything special. We really enjoyed their lamb chops and the aguachile, but like I said everything was very tasty! Looking forward to coming back in the warmer season to enjoy their open air seating and refreshing cocktails I would recommend ordering the shareable smaller items to try more of the menu. This place was spectacular. From being greeting by the friendly host to drinks (they have seasonal drinks you'll love) to the food. The drinks are fun and so yummy. All the food was so full of flavor. The servers are so friendly and helpful when selecting anything off the menu. Check them out, you'll love this place. read more
It was my first time here & my friend raves about this place. The ambiance is upscale and the space is open and inviting! The bar area is gorgeous to look at from afar while we people watched. We ordered a lot of small plates to share, and each dish was flavorful and tasted delicious. I particularly liked the prawns and elote corn! Their cocktails were pretty to look at and refreshing to taste. The service was excellent--the waitress was friendly and attentive while the servers refilled our glasses of water every now and then. The food is pretty pricey for the portion though, so I suggest to do a main course and just a couple of small plates to share. Although it's super nice for special occasions or date night. read more
Great ambience, service, cocktails, and food! My friends treated me to a birthday dinner here and they made reservations for a Saturday night. We were able to find free street parking after 6pm in front of the restaurant and checked in easily. We asked to sit on the cute pink couches in one of their outdoor dining areas. Our area was covered but still open so that we could keep cool as the temperature was in the high 80s. We were immediately offered water and ordered a few cocktails. I enjoyed the "SANDÍA Y MEZCAL - $18 Mezcal, watermelon, citrus, salt, pepper". It was cute served with a slice of watermelon! For 4 of us we were told we should order about 8 small plates or less if we ordered large plates. We ordered 5 small plates and 2 large plates and it was more than enough for us! We ended up taking 2 boxes home. We ordered the following and I enjoyed them in this order ranking although they were all good! -LAMB CHOPS - $30 olive salsa verde, arugula, lime - WHIPPED BEANS - $18 heirloom white beans, crispy pork, cotija cheese, chives, radish, pickled pearl onion. We added in the raw veggies for an extra fee. -PRAWNS - $24 morita chili, pasilla chili, cilantro serrano aioli, red onion, chili threads, lime -CRISPY PORK SHANK - $39 lettuce cups, hot pickled veg, avocado crema, cilantro -CORN - $17 queso fresco, cotija, cilantro aioli, chili lime salt, mexican crema. We ordered the regular which comes with 5 pieces as we didn't know you can order a half size with 3 pieces -ROTISSERIE CHICKEN - $36 French fries, sherry cilantro aioli, tomatillo salsa, charred lemon, grilled onions, and seasonal pepper -CALAMARI - $19 squid ink, red onion, tomato, cilantro, pickled serrano, lime They also have a designated driver program (ask your waiter) where the DD can get free soft drinks! read more

Came here for a date night and enjoyed our time here! The celery salad was so refreshing and sour, in a good way. My husband and I were surprised at how much we enjoyed this dish. The croquettes were crunchy and creamy. Also pretty good no complaints. The lamb chops were a little dry but still delicious and flavorful. The corn was way too saucy and salty for my liking, wouldn't order this again. The ribeye was the best dish we had here! It came with tortillas so we could build tacos & the sautéed veggies were amazing !! I enjoyed the chimichurri sauce & the avocado slices. Would come back to this restaurant just for this dish. S'mores sundae was just okay, tasted very similar to a Wendy's frostie lol. read more

My favorite show of all time, Insecure, brought me here. The characters Issa and Lawrence were dining at Dama on the show, and I was intrigued. Since I was only seven minutes away at an art show, hubby and I decided to try out Dama. Dama is a Latin-inspired restaurant located in the Los Angeles Fashion District. I'm not going to lie; the area is a bit sketch, so be careful and be mindful of your surroundings. They do have valet parking which is a plus. I recommend making a reservation if you want to dine in the dining area. We did not make a reservation but were able to eat at the bar. The overall ambiance and Aesthetic were very chic with deco tropical vibes. Very romantic and has a great bar area. Friendly staff and quick service. For drinks we got a sangria and a sandia y mezcal. The sangria was terrible! It tasted like pure syrup. It definitely tasted like they forgot some ingredients. But the sandia y mezcal was delicious! For food, we got several different appetizers: - prawns ( very tasty! ) - empanadas (these are minis, and they were ok) - Fried calamari ( omg yes!!! This dish was excellent!! ) - oysters ( yes!) - aguachile ( not my favorite, it has a different texture ) - squash flowers (this was a big no for me, too much filling) The dessert menu was a bit sad. I thought they would surely have flan or maybe even a tres leches cake. Instead, they had ice cream or churros. I went ahead and got the DAMA flight which included every flavor of ice cream they had and mini churros. The ice cream flavors included banana, rice pudding, and smores. The only one worth eating was the banana ice cream. The rest wasn't it. I also ordered a very yummy cappuccino! Overall, the place was super cute. Unfortunately, most of the dishes just didn't do it for me. The menu was pretty limited, so I probably won't come back. read more

My cousin took me here for a birthday celebration. & this place is a very hipster hidden gem!! Especially at night. Absolutely loved it. The vibes were all there. The staff were super friendly, very welcoming. Very attentive and overall just great. The food was amazing. We shared the small plates and we satisfied not really full. It is a little pricey tho. Honestly it's better to share plates. The corn was my fave. I must say. Ordered about three rounds of it. Empanadas we're pretty good. The bone marrow was great. Toast was okay The crispy squash flowers were very light but a little too oily for me. The guac was good. But the aguachillie was such a small portion size for the price. It was good tho. All and all the food was pretty good. The only thing I didn't like was that I ordered a drink. it was the Saturday morn, I believe, it's the one with egg whites lol that's all I remember. I wanted to try something new and different and let me tell you I didn't like it one bit. I told our server it tasted weird and he kinda was like okay. Lol he didn't even ask did you wanna change it or try something else. So I just switched drinks with my cousin. The pina colada was pretty great. I liked it. This place is spectacular, I want to eat here everyday!! The food, music, staff is amazing! I fell in love with the playlist and the dj was kind enough to share it with me. Every where I looked around patrons were happy and that is truly what an amazing restaurant can do. I loved the crispy squash flowers and pork shank and every cocktail I had!! They actually bothered to ask if any of us had any allergies when we were ordering so I would say it's safe. (Please note, I don't have any allergies so I can't say for sure)
Is there a kid's menu?
No, but I suggest looking at the dinner menu online to make sure there are plates they would eat with you. I have a 5yo who doesn't like spicy and she did great. Depends on the kid b/c it may not be the best restaurant for picky or "beige food"…
Any update on corking fee? Or is it still 35/each for first 2 then 50/each afterwards?
