who would have thought that there would be such a delightful restaurant contained in the Fashion District. Actually, there is a unique "carved-out" space that houses 2 restaurants and a brewery. Came to DAMA to check out their DineLA menu. The offerings did not disappoint, and DAMA actually had a few more "specials" in conjunction with DLA, such as the lamb chops and the empenandas. Service was quick and the food was very tasty. The whipped bean appetizer was an interesting dish, but it worked so well with the tostada chips. The only negative, would be that the cocktails were a little too sweet for our liking, but overall, can't complain. It was my first time here and what a charming little gem. It's sort of hidden, and once you enter, it's a whole different vibe. A great place for a date night or even a girls night out. The food our server recommended did not disappoint. First, a special mention to the drink I ordered -- the Sierra Norte. If you like Mezcal or even just want to try it for the first time, order it! It's so well balanced and smooth. I loved it. My friend and I ordered apps to share. The corn is a classic and really good. The seafood tostada was yummy and I liked how it came with several small tostadas to share. I wouldn't have normally ordered the bread because, well, it's just bread. However, the server recommended it and so we tried it. Omg, soooo good. The olive oil and garlic made it amazing. We were also looking for a lighter app and the server recommended the celery salad. Now, I'm not a big celery person, but I trust servers' recommendations and this was his personal favorite. We ordered it and it was AMAZING. Went there for a birthday dinner and we had a fabulous time! Nothing better than eating delicious food with people you love and adore. We ordered about 6 small plates for appetizers and the clams & chorizo and the whole red snapper as a the dinner entree. The aguachiles and seafood tostados were good fresh quality. Nothing creative but they stuck to bringing out the fresh taste of the ingredients and a great summer al fresco dish to start. Then we moved onto the carbs: the bread, empandas and patatas bravas were all good but the bread with anchovies hit the spot for me. Next we had the refreshing celery salad with quail eggs and anchovies before moving onto the entree. Finally, the whole red snapper and the clam & chorizo was a perfect finale to the meal. The fish was seasoned amazingly that we ended up not using the trio dripping sauces it came with. If anything, we enjoyed using the clam and chorizo bake sauce. Only suggestion is more bread for the clam & chorizo dish. The drinks were good and the server we had was friendly and professional and timed and grouped the dishes well. So I had to come try DAMA because it's owned by Antonia Lofaso one of my favorite chefs. I got to meet her on a Chefs Making Waves Cruise. I came here for my birthday and the food was so great. I got to meet the executive chef and everyone was so gracious and kind. I ordered the whole fish and I ate said whole fish. I couldn't stop. We also got the chicken tacos and empanadas. For the desert I had to do the churros. We sat outside but the decor on the inside was beautiful. I can't wait to go again. read more

We have been watching Chef Antonia Lafaso for years and finally had the opportunity to dine at one of her restaurants. We were lucky to sit in Diana's section and she was amazing--attentive, friendly, and super knowledgeable about the menu. From the direction I was driving from, the streets were pretty rough but then suddenly, next street over, there was valet, line of teslas, and modern buildings - including DAMA. Street parking free after a certain time - 6pm? There's indoor and outdoor seating. Tables and couch and bar top. Dim lighting, modern tropical decor, and delicious food. Our group of 8 had dinner on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is in an interesting location. It's in a part of Los Angeles that's a little rundown and can be a little jarring if you're not familiar with the area. The restaurant itself is also a little hidden. It's not fully visible from the street but you can see the valet stand and it's behind that. The restaurant is really cute. You walk up some steps and you can turn left into the bar area/inside seating area. If you turn right, you are in the outside/patio seating area. Since we had a large group, we were seated in the patio. Once our full party arrived for our reservation, we were quickly seated and our order was quickly taken. For the small plates, we ordered the bread, aguachile, whipped beans, empanadas, crispy squash flowers, croquettes, fried quesadilla, charred little gem, corn, crispy potatoes, clams and chorizo, calamari and arepa. For the large plates, we ordered the ribeye, whole snapper, rotisserie chicken. Lastly, for dessert, we ordered the atole sundae, s'mores sundae, alfajores, fluffernutter, and churros. For all we ordered, bill came out to almost $920. Everything was great. Our party was in agreement that the small plates were more surprising and delicious than the large plate. Our favorites were the empanadas and whipped beans. Out of the large plates, the ribeye was the favorite. For dessert, we all enjoyed the atole sundae and the fluffernutter was a nice surprise. The service here is impeccable. There was really good communication among the staff. Our server took the time to help us modify the menu so that gluten-free people could enjoy dinner. She was very thorough and asked the right questions. The ambiance is very nice. It felt like eating on a patio without having to brave the elements. When the weather got chillier, a staff member pulled down the plastic barrier so that we could still see outside without closing the doors. All of the food was very well executed. Everything was good, but my favorites of the night were the lamb chops, corn, oysters, and aguachile. I could just eat these and be a very delighted diner. Aguachile: I was so happy to enjoy it without shrimp. The kampachi was flavorful on its own and played nicely with the lime and chile. We were able to enjoy these with baked tostadas. What a treat. Oysters: The oysters served were kumamotos. They tasted creamy and briny. The accompaniments were delightful: mignonette, bonito, cocktail sauce, and hot sauce. Corn: This elote was tasty and messy in the best way. I asked for more chile salt, but the corn was flavorful already with all the cremas and mayo. Lamb chops: The crispy sear was the nice thin armor for the tender lamb. It was perfectly cooked and topped with arugula. Everyone I spoke with about this place gave nothing but praise for the food. The food here was pre selected by the time we arrived so we only had to order drinks. We had the meat set menu and these are my thoughts. Guacamole/Whipped Beans with Tostadas - This pairing of this was so good. It's a perfect appetizer to start the meal. (5/5) Bread - This was mixed with tomato's on top and oil. It was good. (4/5) Chicken Croquettes - Wow this is a winner. Soft center and flavors is so well. (5/5) Corn / Elote - Not your average Elote! It's dressed up with sauce but it was so good. Meat was so tender and not overly salty. It paired well with everything that it came with. Delicious. (5/5) Flan - This is a thicker flan that I've had before. Sweet and creamy. (4/5) Churro - Best churros I've ever had. Had a soft and creamy center. Crispy outside. (5/5) Definitely worth trying at least once. Good for special occasions. Great atmosphere, good food, great service. Came here for a birthday dinner with friends on a Sunday early evening. Made reservations for 5:30 and upon arriving, initially was a bit puzzled as there were no more than 2 parties at the restaurant. But as the night progressed, the tables started to fill up. The bar in the center of the dining room is beautiful, and concocts tons of amazing cocktails. The menu is simple, dishes were all well prepared. Pricing is on the higher end but, I do feel for special occasions it's well worth the experience and atmosphere. Our server was super attentive and did such a wonderful job of recommending and explaining the menu (both food and beverages) and at fhe end of our meal, the manager was so kind in capturing an admittedly gorgeous picture of the group to remember the night with. Came to DAMA tonight for a friend's birthday and it was a great experience! The service was so friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. As soon as we sat down, we were treated to complimentary birthday beverages for the alcohol drinkers and N/A folks alike. We received great food suggestions and an appropriate ballpark for how much to order for our group since the restaurant is more tapas-style. Everything was really good, but some stand out dishes were the crispy squash flowers, the bread, the little gem salad, the seafood tostada and the empanadas. This is the best Spanish food in LA, you can't beat it! They have everything from a great atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating, fast service, some delicious food, and of course a variety of selection for cocktails. Love the pina coladas here! I am all for tapas and ordering family style so this place is perfect for that. They also have bigger dishes like the paella (you can't miss it!) and a roasted chicken with fries (also very savory). You can't go wrong with no matter what you order. For the tapas I do think the beef cheek tostada is a must and the chicken croquettes too- they literally melt in your mouth. I'd add the empanadas, quesadillas and elote on there too if you come with a bigger group. Guacamole is solid and so are the potatoes. I've come here on multiple occasions and it's consistently good. The ambiance was very nice and the service was good. My issue was the food. I was very excited about the lamb chops and was grossly disappointed . They were very tough and lacked seasoning. They were extremely bland and for the price point this was the reason we didn't spend more money and double down on a larger dish. I intended to order the dry aged steak, but after the lamb chop situation, the three of us decided to cut our losses. We tried the squash flowers, potatoes and Brussels, short rib tacos, churros, and ground beef empanadas. Out of those items I wouldn't recommend anything except for the short rib taco but you would need to order about 3 to get satisfied. We went to bed still hungry and spent about $200 with tip. We held an private business dinner at DAMA in November 2025. About 20 guests. The manager, Colin, was great and was able to adapt to some of our last-minute requests on the fly. The food was delicious (make sure to get the churros for dessert) and the space had a good ambiance. Our event was on a Monday night so it was relatively empty, which worked out well for us, as it contributed to the intimate feel of the restaurant. We booked the lounge for a cocktail hour and then two hours on the terrace for dinner, which worked out well. Surrounding location isn't the greatest, but inside is nice! Staff is friendly and helpful. I have been once before nearly 2 years ago and was surprised how little the menu had changed. I was hoping for some newness. In general I will say the drinks are good, and the food is decent, but nothing was particularly memorable. For drinks I tried the Bourbon Gun Club (basically a whiskey sour) and the Commodore #2. Both were good, but at $20 a piece it wasn't anything you corkscrew get elsewhere. For food we shared a bunch of things. We had the corn (this one is pretty good and I'd recommend), the arepas (which I liked, though it was small), the gem salad (didn't care for this one - no real flavor to it), the bread (which was good, but not $18 for two slices good), and the lamb chops (which were decent). For the mains we had the paella and the ribeye. For nearly $100 the ribeye left a lot to be desired. The paella too was just ok - though maybe better if you get it with seafood. For dessert we had the fluffernutter (would not recommend - way too heavy), the banana Sundae (nothing special), the smores sundae (which was good) and the churros (which I would recommend).
