I'm only basing my review on their slice of cheese pizza - but I find it to be so damn good. Absolutely HUGE slice (verging on ridiculously-oversized), but a perfect combo of cheese (good amount, nice and golden brown), sauce (great tomato flavor and not a ton of sauce - I'm not a big fan of a lot of sauce) and a fantastic crust. The crust has body and a great chewiness, but still remains pretty crunchy overall. Not a cracker-thin crispy crust, btw. I get a slice to go - they throw it in a paper bag, and you're out the door. I was a former fan of Damenzo's, and then I ordered a carne asada dinner, and everything went wrong. The meat was either spoiled, or cooked on a dirty grill. It was missing the vegetables, shells, and all the other fixings. When I called the customer service was either horrible from miscommunication, non-English speaking, or just horrible. They offered to send new meat, and take the old. It arrived just as the same. I just said forget it, and ordered a pizza from Bacci's pizzeria. Very disappointed as prior to this ordered from them every week and the food was previously delicious! read more

Great calzones- I mean they are HUGE and filled with all sorts of ingredients- meats, sauces, cheeses all fire baked in a wood burning oven. All of this for about 7 bucks. The pizza is great! It is spiced differently than most. Every time I have friends try Damenzo;s pizza, they often say without me mentioning anything, "This pizza is delicious!" I used to come here often, and was in a hurry to get to an appointment in the area. I was excited to return to one of my go to spots. I went here today and ordered the eggplant parmesan and the ravioli. There is a huge menu on the wall in plain sight. Both items were listed for $8.99. I waited 20 minutes for the items to be complete. When it was time to pay I noticed the cashier ringing $11.99 per item, then the guy who took my order corrected her and told her to ring $9.99 per item. I quickly told him it should $8.99 each because of the price printes on the wall. He told me it was $9.99 in the new printed menu he had behind the counter. He pulled one out and said look. I told him I didnt care what the printed take home menu stated because I had ordered from the menu on the wall, and he never said those items were priced different. He said there was a notice that said prices were subject to change without notice. I asked him to show me where, and he pulled out the take out menu again. I asked him was that posted anywhere on the wall, and he said no. I asked to speak to the manager, and he said he was the manager. I told him that it was easily correctable by honoring the price listed then changing the menu on the wall. He told me he only works there and didnt have the authority to do so. Well I used some here often, and frequent the one off 113th and Halsted. Just got a catering order from that location. I wont be back, and will be encouraging others to stay away. The attitude, smugness, and refusal to honor their word as printed made it so. read more

eh.. wanted to try something different and this came up on my yelp search around the area.. i ordered the super Italian beef which is a HUGE dipped Italian beef in aluminum tray that they throw a bunch of cheese on top and then bake it, also ordered a slice of pizza... the slices is big like the bacci's across the street.. however I did not enjoy my food at all.. the pizza was a little chewy and tasted old... the super Italian beef was super super soggy and taste very unbalance with the amount of cheese they put on it.. will not be back... read more

Worst place to order from. I ordered a large size pizza unfortunately for us we realized we didn't have anything less then a hundred dollar bill. The driver gave my girlfriend a huge attitude about it so i called in trying to pay over the phone with my debit card and the person over the phone said he couldn't take payment with a credit card i told him several times it was not a credit card and the he says he can't take payments over the phone after 12?? That doesn't even make sense,what kind of establishment doesn't take a payment over the phone after 12? The pizza was already out side my door! I found this place a few years ago when i worked nearby. I since left the job, but i still drive back to the neighborhood, just for a slice of this sweet pizza pie. Their slices are SOOO much better than Bacci and because it is directly across the street i am not sure why anyone would go to Bacci when FAR superior pizza is just across the street. Though their prices have gone up, which is to be expected, they are still extremely reasonable. They are fast and open late. I give this 4-stars mainly on value. The pizza, calzones, and burritos are THE best offering for your dollar in the area. If you really want to amuse yourself make a calzone challenge and try to finish it in one sitting. If I had the option to choose a zero rating - I would have. I have eaten from this place for before. Not often, yet enough times to post this review. Last night was my last time; I opened up the box and first and foremost, the pizza was cold. From my experiences with "true" Italian pizzerias, staff has taken the time to cover their pizzas, either with foil or wax paper with that little thing placed in the center of the pizza. This pizza was just thrown in the box. And trust this is an insult....my husband is Sicilian! Secondly and most importantly, this pizza was disgusting! I am aware of what I just typed. The green peppers were wet....soggy, the sauce was bland....flavorless and only parts of the crust was cooked. My Italian husband was further insulted. I spoke with the so-called manager and he was the most irresponsible, uncaring, unprofessional individual who has ever been given the privilege of running an establishment! This guy asked me how long did I take before I ate the pizza, because if I waited a long time, it would explain why the pizza is cold. Pause, take a breath and re-read what I just typed. Finished? YES, that is what this guy said to me. I'm not done; I know my threshold, so under much restraint, I ignored that response and continued talking about the nasty tasting pizza before me. He says he is sorry I don't like the way his pizza tastes and to pack it up and bring it back. I told him I am not gong back out in this frigid weather to bring back anything. He said "Oh well.". I don't have enough time in my day to make this up. Every other professional food establishment I have frequented would have 1st offered a sincere apology, 2nd would have offered to make me another pizza and had it delivered or offered to refund my money. Any manger or executive that had a genuine care and pride of their food and their customers( that is responsible for them keeping their business afloat ) would have done the above. There is more to this place than having cheap prices, large pizza slices and large portions of food. NONE of that matters when there is no quality , nor care, nor pride in how their food is prepared and offered to their customers. PERIOD! By the way, for those of you that still want to frequent this place and use your credit /debit card, watch out for those that want to walk away with your card to the back. Yes; There is a credit machine right at the front counter, so for what reason would staff want to travel with your card - out of sight and out of mind? Saw this place getting a ton of attention on facebook so I had to try it. Being so close to my work I cant believe I had never stopped here and they have been here for 30 years! Well i tried the cheezy beef everyone has been raving about and let me tell you it was great! Didnt try the pizza yet so I cant give any input on that. That will be my next choice. I was very surprised they also serve Mexican food. As I was standing in a very long line during lunch I chatted with someone in line about the Mexican and they said they have one of the best burritos. I guess I will try that on my third visit... However service is everything to me & I was told by one employee they never accept credit cards for delivery (which is a lie) & the delivery guy will not get out of the car to deliver. Also if you order pickup; you are courteous & wait to be asked "how may I help you?" Forget about it. The rudest person with the biggest mouth gets served first. Friday 2/17/2017, First time ever ordering from this restaurant. I ordered two philly steak sandwiches, one chicken alfredo fettuccine with shrimp and a 1 liter ginger ale for delivery. The philly steak sandwiches came with meat and bread only. No toppings whatsoever. The alfredo fettuccine had exactly three shrimp in the pan. To make matters worse, I was overcharged $5 for the order. I called the restaurant and spoke with a manager and was told because he wasn't there on Friday, 2/17/2017, there's nothing he can do about any of these issues. Please be very careful of being overcharged from this place and if you order via delivery, do not pay the driver without checking your food 1st. I will never order from this place again. I have to say, I like this pie a little bit more than Bacci's across the street. The crust is a little airier and not as dense (its not what I would call a light crust though). The sauce has a little more flavor. That said, I go to both about equally. Why's that you ask? What's the difference between this place and Bacci's across the street? Prices are about the same. Service is a little more, well brusque (not rude), but ordering at Bacci's is usually less chaotic. I'm in and out of Bacci's faster. There less of a choice in pizza's at Damenzo's, actually there are less food options in general, unless you count the Mexican food place that is connected to Damenzo's. Which is pretty good. Also the take out bag, does not travel nearly as nicely as the box they give you at Bacci's, its not as convenient or as easy. But that pie is better. So, if your not in a hurry, or you want to eat the best slice available, right there. Damenzo's is the place. The chicken wings are a good bet as well, and they deliver. read more

Worst. Buritto. Ever. Seriously. Where do I start? I was a little hesitant to order mexican food from a pizza place, but I figured, what the heck. What a mistake. I am not a picky eater by any means. But really, I need more from my buritto than grease in a tortilla shell. The buritto is HUGE. So if you like large amounts of food, then thats a plus. But once you take a bite, I'm sure you'll no longer want it to be so big. There was so much grease. The meat had abn extremely weird taste, when I gave it to my mom she described it as "medicinal". My two year old daughter took a bite and then headed straight for her potty. I didn't even have to ask her. It was like some kind of potty training conditioning was inspired by this food. There doesnt seem to be much more in the buritto besides grease and meat. The shell was soggy. The a la carte sauce had an awful smell. Perhaps it'd been sitting out. Like I said, I'm not a picky eater, and I'm usually a pretty positive person. But this food is unacceptable. I'm debating rather it'd be worth it to walk back up there and ask for a refund. I have a neighbor who has two dogs that bark all night and all day. Perhaps if I throw the buritto over the fence it'll take care of that problem. read more

I love Damenzo's I live in Pilsen but have had them deliver to as far as 55th and Loomis and Lake/Pulaski love them for that.....but the food is very good and consistent. The Calzone is humungous and delicious and I love their cheesy beef and the container it comes in. Friendly fast service (if the delivery guy can find your address, ha ha). read more

The Italian beef was good but that was the only thing that was. They gave us a small brown paper bag of fries that was entirely soaked by the grease! And they gave us a large cold greasy slice of pepperoni pizza in a paper bag that was stapled to the other bag! The cheese fries were bland and half cooked.
