The food is SO good! Love the different choices of smear you can choose. Fried chicken is always one of my favorites!

I give this restaurant, 4.5:5. Service delivery, and attention to customers is a complete five. I was greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. I have to admit, the place was not crowded when I got there, but it was completely packed and a line outside the door once I left. It's apparent that this place is really popular. The ambience is really nice. This really shouldn't be an issue, but I could definitely appreciate that. All of the paintings that were hung on the walls were ALL "leveled." I can't tell you how many times I've gone to an establishment and their pictures and artwork have not been "leveled." This place has done this right. The food was really good. I had three wings, the regular waffle, accompanied by strawberry syrup. The only complaint was that my waffle was a little soggy... I don't know why that was. Maybe it was cooked prior and then warmed up in the microwave...? I don't know. That is, however my only critique. The sweet tea was phenomenal. read more

I am going to break this down into sections Ambiance - It was well, Chicken and waffles inside for sure, yellow background with brown seats. The place was cozy and professional at the same times. Negatively there was random stuff in places: an empty display case, TVs that don't work and didn't really fit the vibe. Customer Service - it was pretty standard. Checked up on me, made sure I was good. The smell of marijuana was both inviting and somewhat negative as there was children within the restaurant. I felt as though some of the workers weren't doing much of anything, the floors needed sweeping and just general cleaning but instead leaning. Finally Food - I forget what I had because honestly, I'm dazed and confused after a long drive. But I got two Panko Cutlets with something called K pop syrup but all in all it was good. The chicken was cooked to perfection, juicy inside with a nice crispy outside. The sauce was very good and the smear I honestly barely noticed. The waffles are good very fluffy but not too much. I felt though as I went on the redundant taste wasn't enough to keep bringing me back. Don't get me wrong it was super tasty. But at the end I was like hmm. I'm good don't want more. I feel like a 5/5 I must want more. Oh I almost forget the mac n cheese was honestly subpar, chick fil a does it better. It's simple food, fried chicken & waffles... should be fairly quick to get your order, except here at Dame's it took a legit hour once we were finally able to get our servers attention to even place our order. Not only did it take an ungodly amount of time to receive service, the server had attitude with our table and acted as if it was a bother to do her job. - food was TERRIBLE. You'd think that after waiting for over an hour the food would atleast be worth the wait... WRONG!!! I've had better waffles at Denny's and better fried chicken at gas stations. The past few times I've been to Dame's it has been lackluster. Service OK, but hardly enthusiastic. Food good, but not great. But the WAIT times for food have been insane. Close to 45 minutes each of my last time visits from the time I ordered until the food hit the table. For WAFFLES and FRIED CHICKEN. There's no way it should take this long. As I looked around the mostly empty restaurant, I found that the other tables were all waiting for food as well. Dames is an institution in Durham and a place that I would *like* to want to take out of town guests and the like, but I just can't recommend Dame's anymore and sadly, I won't be going back again soon. read more

This is the second time I came here whenever I came to NC and the food is still good. I just dropped off my friend at the airport after a great wedding weekend and was advised to stop by for food. I entered to the sounds of smooth jazz and was seated immediately. The waitress was very friendly and honest with my menu questions. I asked about the seasonal lemonade, and she was like "Strawberry. And for some reason it's always been strawberry haha". I was surprised of the options of flavors for the waffle, drizzle and the shmear. The waitress successfully convinced me to try a vegan waffle with my meal and I just switched up my shmear for a Maple-Pecan (bc who doesn't like maple and Puh-kahns). My meal came with two wings and a cutlet. The chicken was well seasoned and lightly crisp. Noice. The collard greens were well seasoned as well (still added some hot sauce) Mac n Cheese was kinda more like a casserole Bc they used penne pasta but good nonetheless. The waffle was bomb, so kudos to the waitress! Didn't need any extra syrup Bc the shmear and drizzle gave it much flavor. I enjoyed my experience and will def always stop by Dame's on any future visits to North Carolina. read more

FOOD: - A quilted buttercup: I didn't realize it'd basically be half of a sweet potato waffle (something to note). I don't know if it's because of the sweet potato, but my waffle was limp. The maple pecan schmear paired well with the dish. The fried chicken was fried well. We had a bite of chicken leftover that we took to go, and it was still crispy later that night! Our signature dishes also come with a side. I got collard greens and I love that it had a bit of spice. SERVICE Noah was a great waiter. Nice and attentive, no complains. First time customer, though my girlfriend has been a couple times and enjoyed it. I'm assuming this was an off day, but still... We ordered two near-identical chicken and waffle plates (one cutlet, regular waffle, just different drizzles). Girlfriend ordered grits on the side as well, no cheese. Food took 45 minutes to come out despite there only being three other tables when we walked in, and when it got to our table it was lukewarm. Not even hot, lukewarm. Drizzles took an extra 5 minutes to come out, and grits didn't come out until close to the end of the meal. It tasted alright, but the wait and temperature killed our enjoyment a lot. While visiting my cousin in Cary we decided to try Dame's. We had a small wait (30 min) but we didn't mind because it was a Saturday morning. Baby, it was worth the wait! I ordered the 3 piece wing and classic waffle with vanilla-almond shmear, a side of collard greens and mac and cheese! The others had the drumsticks and waffle with a side of squash! I'm not sure what happened but I was certainly not prepared. The chicken was seasoned perfectly! The waffle was so good that I had to close my eyes! It was so good that we had to order another one and split it simply because we were not ready to give up that flavor. The sides were all amazing! Nothing needed to be added as it was already a flavor explosion in your mouth! Our server was amazing. He was friendly and attentive. He gave recommendations and gave great answers to our questions! It could be dangerous if I had one of these near me! I really have been thinking about this place every day since I ate here! I can't wait to come back! My children and I ate here and it was pretty good. Just as the name states we ordered chicken and waffles. The kids both got kids meals that came with one chicken leg and 1/2 of a Belgian waffle and I ordered 3 wings with a whole waffle and a side of Mac and cheese. Each order with a waffle gets a choice of smear...we tried the strawberries and cream one and I think it was a pecan flavored one..VERY GOOD! I wasn't familiar with this place so I was surprised that it was more of a franchise than I thought it would be. Uncomfortable plastic benches and a rocky table meant we weren't off to a great start. But service was lovely and responsive. I was starving so I decided to order a few items including the grits with shrimps. I also had greens. Lastly I ordered some chicken legs because why would I go to a chicken place and not order chicken? The chicken was really good. The greens were way too salty though there was a nice kick of heat. The grits and shrimp weren't bad but the amount of oil in the plate made it super unappetizing after a while. It definitely wasn't my top eating experience. I'll pass the next go round. read more

I ordered the Dualing Roosters which was 4 wings and a classic waffle with maple pecan schmear and vanilla almond calypso schmear with a side of collard greens. The wings were hot and crispy and well seasoned. The waffle was flat--not fluffy and underwhelming due to being undercooked. It was quite doughy tasting...raw batter. Not a fan of the greens--not what I am accustomed to eating as these had an unfamiliar flavor.(not seasoned with prok I take it) The sweet tea was perfect. I had mixed feelings about this Cary location. We decided to dine-in for this visit. Here's are my scores... Ambiance 3 Food 4 Customer Service 5 Our server was very pleasant, and the food was well prepared except for the Shrimp & Grits. They were extremely salty and the grits tasted like the instant kind, also I don't recall them using chicken sausage before. However, our server was able to take care of this. We enjoyed the chicken, and the Mac n cheese was awesome, but the collards were very bland. I think someone forgot to add the spiciness they are known for. As for the ambiance, this location looks like it's aging fast as I noticed many of the booth seats were ripped and torn. Don't know if I would try their shrimp Shrimp & Grits again, but I would certainly come back for the fried chicken, macaroni n cheese and warm service. read more

I was in Cary for a day trip and stopped by this brunch spot and was impressed by the service and food. I don't remember if my server told us her name but she was so great! I underestimated the chicken and waffles as I ordered the shrimp and grits with a waffle on the side w/vanilla almond butter, SO Good! My friend ordered shrimp and grits but also an order of chicken and waffles. I took one of his wings and ate it with my waffle it was better than the shrimp & grits lol. I wish I would've gotten a picture of it too. They were short staffed, evident by how many tables our server had but the food still came out fast and hot! We both ordered a mimosa (sunshine w/peach moscato and manmosa). The server told us that they did not have a bartender and they had to make their own drinks. Our drinks were great! Overall my friend and I enjoyed our visit to Dame's and highly recommend it. 4 stars only because our drink had some sort of black spots/crumbs or seasoning around the rim of the glass. Absolutely incredible chicken and waffles here! They have an unbelievable selection of every type of chicken and waffles you can imagine, and you really can't go wrong with anything. Their housemaid butter "smears" are definitely a must have! I had the maple schmear, and it went perfectly with the bourbon drizzle that went on my chicken and waffles! The cutlets were massive, juicy, well seasoned, perfectly cooked, and all-around perfect!
