The sushi and bento boxes are very good, and it's usually a great place to go for lunch. The interior has a good atmosphere and is clean. The last time I was there however the service was slooowwwww. While portions are generous, Fish were all tasteless, we didn't even eat the tuna sashimi because it was suspiciously red (like, unnaturally red). Udon had lots of pepper and salt, so it was flavorful but certainly not a true nabeyaki udon. Only in Anchorage can a place in such a...strange and blah location be such an amazing restaurant. It's INSIDE the Econolodge! I was forewarned and had been given a great recommendation so I went in. AMAZING sushi and quick service. While outside it just looks like the boring Econolodge, inside there is a great atmosphere. It's also a way better value than other sushi spots in Anchorage. I don't mind paying more for better food, but this place has awesome sushi and great value. I'll be back for sure! read more

Visited this place from San Diego. So impressed with their service and rolls! They brought us edamame and miso soup to start. We ordered tempura calamari, crunch roll and tiger roll. They were both so good. Especially the crunch roll. They brought us this cream puff deserved that was also amazing. I only gave them 4 stars because the calamari wasn't tempura it was fried. Sushi quality and taste at Dami is better than at most Japanese restaurants I've been to in Anchorage. I've eaten sushi for 20+ years now including a handful of times in Japan. For me, the taste is very close to what I've come to think of as authentic. The fish is fresh and they don't skimp on the amount in an order like other places i've tried. The prices and quality are quite reasonable compared to what you would get at other restaurants. Location and atmosphere suffer a bit and the wait staff isn't the most attentive, but for the quality I save a place at the top of my list for Dami. read more

The BEST Japanese restaurant in Anchorage (I've tried them all)- by FAR. Calvin's Choice and Lobster rolls are my favorite. Their fried rice is awesome according to my friends and my husband loves their short ribs and Alyeska roll. I haven't tried either of these yet but everything I have tried has been excellent. My husband and I have all of our parties here (they have a pretty good sized room in the back with a nice long table so everyone can sit together) and we order their sushi boats which have a great variety! Plus I find their parking lot in the back to be extremely convenient. Snooty people complain because it is attached to an Econo Lodge, but I find it's a heck of a lot better than having to find a place on the street (meter$$) or a parking lot where you have to pay! This place has never disappointed me. read more

Somewhere around average for sushi. I didn't like the dressing on the salad. It was like watered down mayo. The miso soup was fair. The service was pretty quick and the atmosphere was good except for the moderately loud dance club type music. The music was not what I was expecting for a dinner visit with my parents and my partner. Prices were decent. No wine by the glass. I like Sushi and Sushi much better for Anchorage. Watch your credit card!!! The food is good but today is the second time we have eaten there and they kept our credit card. This happened to me a few years ago. When they brought the bill, the card was not with the credit card receipt that you sign. I was in a hurry and did not notice. I realized when I got back to my office I did not have my credit card and called Dami and was told, yes they had it at the cash register. When I went back to the restaurant to get it, the woman who was at the register could not find my card in the register like they said it would be. She went in to the kitchen and came back with my card and I did not think much about it. That night I got a call, LUCKILY, from my credit card company. Someone in the Phillipines was claiming to be me and was trying to make a charge for jewelry for $1,500, which alerted the attention of my credit card company. I told them it was not me, I am female and this was a male using the numbers, so the charge was denied and my card canceled and replaced with a new number. Obviously, someone at Dami had given a friend or relative in the Phillipines my card number complete with security code, all in the few hours my card was there. Today I had lunch with my boyfriend there and they ended up keeping his card. He realized it when he got to the car and went back in. He asked the same waitress who rang up the bill for his card and she said there was no card and she had not seen it. He said the same thing had happened before and he was calling the police at which time the waitress then ducked behind the counter and found the card which was presumably already in her purse. SO, if you eat there, watch what they do with your card or pay cash! We have filed police reports against them. read more
