To be honest i was disappointed with the matcha... Why is this so hyped? I definitely prefer rok, airoma, vivot
I went to Damo around 2pm on a weekend, and the line was already starting to form out the door. Unfortunately, the line takes up a majority of the cafe space, along with the few sitting tables, so it was pretty difficult to find a spot to wait for my drink after ordering. The pickup area can also get blocked by the line or waiting area, which can make it a little awkward when you're trying to reach over someone to grab your drink. I ordered the Coconut Hojicha and the Matcha Einspanner. The Coconut Hojicha was refreshing, nutty, and definitely the standout of the two. It's such a fun twist on the typical matcha coconut drink, and I have to give Damo their flowers for creating something that feels unique. The Matcha Einspanner wasn't particularly stand-out compared to some of the other cafes in K-Town, but it was still a well-balanced drink with a nice mix of bitterness, sweetness, and creaminess. I can definitely see why so many people consider Damo one of their favorite cafes. Despite the crowded setup, the drinks are creative and thoughtfully done!
Absolutely obsessed with the Hojicha Coconut! This drink is DIVINE, so refreshing, creamy, and delicious. I could literally drink 10 of these! It's definitely a must-try, and I already can't wait to come back for another one. The cakes were just okay for me. I'd probably pass on them next time if I'm just getting something for myself, but they would make a cute gift or present for someone!
Matcha strawberry einspanner really good and creamy You can taste the matcha but it blends beautifully w the strawberry puree and cream top.very crowded when we stopped by. Not enough tables and no one was wiping them down either so it was sticky. Accepted apple pay n cc with no additional surcharge. Drinks came out quick and parking was free.
We ordered the Damo latte - an espresso shot with agave sweetener and the Matcha cream top. The espresso flavor wasn't terribly strong and the matcha tasted alright to me There was a long line of customers and it's a pretty popular Korean drink shop in Koreatown!
Solid matcha place in ktown!! There's so many places around and it's a saturated market so I get the competition... but this place holds its own! Matcha is rich and bold, there's a good amount so it's not weak. Milk ratio is good so it's not diluted at all. The cream top is nice and thick and doesn't melt into the drink! Matcha Cream Top ($7.75)-- I looooove me a nice and thick cream top and this place does it amazingly. It's thick and perfectly sweetened and doesn't melt with the drink/ice. It stays perfectly thick and still and above the matcha unless you mix it in. The matcha is also really nice and rich. None of the bland or grassy taste. Just genuine good matcha! Chocolate Forest ($7.75)-- Basically same as above but the cream on top tastes like Milo/Ovaltine mixed in. It's a nice and sweet nostalgic taste. Not a hint of bitterness so if you want mocha/dark chocolate this is not the one for you. It's more happy kid hot chocolate vibes. Overall I really like this place for their matcha and would get it again. Pricing is steep but all good matcha goes for around $8 nowadays. Theres a shared parking lot (free if you go in the afternoon) but otherwise street parking.
got the strawberry matcha!! the cream top was delicious and so glad it didn't make the entire matcha drink heavy bc i just wanted something sweet and refreshing! the service was nice and quick! got my drink within 5-7 mins after ordering!! the inside was on the smaller side and it got busy/crowded fast so recommend getting your drinks to go!
Pretty solid matcha spot that I'm more willing to go to now that the lines have died down :) We got the iced matcha latte and matcha einspanner, both half sweet which was the perfect level. Drinks come out pretty quickly too! There is a moderate amount of seating for socializing or studying. We came on a Saturday morning and were lucky enough find a parking spot in the lot (which is shared by a lot of places including the new bakery Out of Ordi)
I stopped by DAMO and ordered a matcha latte. The matcha had a vibrant, earthy flavor that was stronger than most matcha places I've been to. I appreciated the quality of the tea, and the matcha powder and cream on top was not too overly sweet. My friend and I were able to enjoy our drinks inside the shop, as there were plenty of tables available for people to chat with friends or study or work inside.
Visited this spot on a Wednesday at noon and they constantly had a flow of customers coming in and out. There's only a handful of tables and chairs with some stool seating against the front window. Ordered a matcha latte and I kind of regret not adding the cream foam after, but it was already a $7 cup of matcha. Upon mixing and tasting it left a bitter aftertaste so I didn't really enjoy it. I added two packs of raw sugar to try and alter it but I probably should have asked for sweetener or cream top because it still left a bitter aftertaste. Service was lackluster, not warm and friendly, but pretty straightforward. I was able to snag a parking spot in the lot but it wasn't plentiful as the plaza is busy shared with the salt bread shop.

My new favorite spot for decadent matcha and hojicha drinks! The cream top on the hojicha einspanner was so creamy and thick, and it was also the perfect level of sweetness. The strawberry matcha einspanner was also yummy and had a great presentation The space is pretty small but there are a few seats available. The line was around 20 minutes long on a Saturday afternoon. Like most spots in ktown, the parking lot is limited and you'll likely need to find street parking, but it is definitely worth the hype!

DAMO was the highlight of my recent LA trip. The shop has limited seating and a clean, minimalistic look. It appears to be family owned. The employees were always nice even though they were hustling, it gets busy at DAMO. They're located in a small plaza with parking spots. We got the hojicha eispänner, matcha eispänner, and iced matcha latte with oat milk. The matcha flavor was satisfactory, I honestly prefer a stronger matcha flavor but I still really enjoyed both matcha beverages. The hojicha eispänner was my favorite beverage though, I've never had such a smooth hojicha beverage! I really enjoyed the thick cream on the eispänners. We loved DAMO so much we came back again before leaving LA. I do think it's a tad pricey, but my beverages were always made perfectly. They were all flavorful, smooth, and incredibly refreshing! I ordered drinks with the default sweetness level and I thought it was fine. If you're not into hojicha or matcha, they also have coffee beverages and a nice selection of loose leaf teas. DAMO is definitely worth checking out. read more
I AM OBSESSED. This is THE BEST Hojicha Einspanner I've ever had and I've never seen this anywhere else in LA/OC etc. The drink itself is so light (as there is no milk in the hojicha-it's made with water) and the einspanner's sweet creaminess just adds the perfect touch to the hojicha which is really savory and flavorful. I've visited twice last week already and can't wait to go back and try the other einspanners. I also tried a hot vanilla latte and that was really good too. Highly recommend! Parking- there is a parking lot but it can fill up pretty quickly. read more

I ordered the Chestnut latte and Mango Matcha Latte. Both were extremely delicious (and pretty sweet). There were so many drink options to choose from. I loved the color scheme of the cafe as well. They had seating inside as well but most of the seats were taken. Definitely aesthetically appealing tho! I would like to note we went around 1-2pm and there was a long line. But it was totally worth the wait!!! We waited about 10-15 minutes. Staff were friendly as well. read more

Damo was soooo good! The inside was a bit crowded, and the wait to order was a little bit long although the drinks came out pretty quickly. I saw some people doing work but wouldn't really recommend this as a study spot since it can get very packed and loud. We got the hojicha einspener (3/5 - the hojicha was pretty grainy and didn't mix well with the cream), strawberry einspener (5/5 - has real strawberry chunks and tastes like a creamy strawberry milk), matcha latte (5/5 - was able to sub for oat milk), and matcha einspener (100000/5 - as someone who drinks matcha everyday, I can attest that the matcha they use is extremely high quality. There were no clumps at all and it mixed perfectly with the cream top to give it a silky taste). There is street parking as well as parking inside the complex if you're able to find. read more
I've been going to Damo ever since they opened. It's great to see the power of social media really hyping this place, but now the lines are long . Damo is a cafe that specializes in teas. Came here on a Saturday around 3 and it was packed! We waited in line for about 20 minutes but almost as soon as we ordered we got our drinks. The service was great, the baristas were super friendly and patient while we ordered. Our drinks were delicious! The hojicha einspener was my favorite. I do think it's a little pricey for the size you get but I would come back here if I had a craving for the hojicha einspener specifically. There were a couple of tables where I saw people working and studying but tbh it was extremely loud and tight in there. I personally wouldn't want to work or study here. Parking was also kind a of crazy. It's a one way parking lot that serves a lot of businesses so we had a hard time finding parking. We ended up leaving the lot and parking across the street in front of the apartments and just walked over. read more

Minimalistic interior with around 15 seats, DAMO is the new and upcoming tea shop in LA. There is parking outside because it is situated in a small plaza. However, be warned that it can get really busy over the weekend and you may have to circle a few times before finding a spot. There was a sizable line, but it moved pretty fast. What we ordered: Hojicha einspanner (5/5): Love the taste of the hojicha. The cream makes it lighter but doesn't add a strong milk flavor as in a normal latte. It tastes refreshing and not too sweet. Super unique drink that is probably one of the bestsellers. Strawberry einspanner (4/5): This was okay. Overall, it tasted almost like a strawberry smoothie. Nothing to write home about, but the presentation was cute and there was no artificial strawberry syrup taste. Signature dagwa (Korean traditional sweets): Very aesthetic presentation and unique plating. I haven't tried many of these desserts before. Really enjoyed the chestnut and persimmon ones. Would recommend trying if you haven't had before. Not sure if I will drive all the way to LA to have this again. Nevertheless, I had a good experience and can see why this place is so popular. read more
Love the clean and calming aesthetics here! The hojicha einspener is my favorite drink to get here. The waffle had a nice mochi-like texture and I liked that it wasn't sweet since our drinks were already pretty sweet. I do want to try the dagwa sampler and the other drinks. I haven't seen any other cafes have the option to add their flavored creams as a topping! My only wish is that this cafe had more seating. We had to wait around a little before we got lucky that a table became available. read more

I was debating between matcha and Hojicha Einspanner, and the cashier recommended Hojicha cauz she likes the nutty flavor of it. Their Hojicha Einspanner isn't so sweet. You can definitely taste the nuttiness and the slight bitter tea flavor that blends really well with the foam on top. Some people might think it is not sweet enough but I think it is perfect. 10/10 I chugged it down so fast read more

Free parking which is nice for a place in LA. Super unique modern interior with cool korean elements. Not too spacy so it could crowd up. Great place for matcha, tea, and korean snacks! matcha is perfect for anyone that prefers less sweet and packed with matcha flavor. So flavorful that it might be grainy. Definitely recommending this place. Great service. They're often busy but you don't wait too long for your order. Perfect portions too. They don't skimp on the drink or creamers. They also have a unique menu. The ambience is streamline/no clutter. Parking hasn't been a problem yet. read more

Finally got to try this place after having it bookmarked for who knows how long. I should've came sooner because I think Damo is by far one of my favorite matcha spots in LA. My friends and I got the Strawberry Einspener, Strawberry Matcha Latte and Matcha Latte. All three were so tasty and refreshing. I already knew the drinks would be good by the color of it. HAHA I really liked how their lattes aren't too creamy. I tend to see a lot of cafes add too much milk and it overpowers the matcha taste. Super high quality and delicious! read more

Wanted to try the sampler but couldn't since I couldn't take to go only for sit down. Make sense since it would go well with the tea. Service was quick plenty of parking in the plaza it was in and there was also street metered parking. I need to go back to tru the tea and matcha drinks. Lots of people with their laptops and its pretty quiet. Not sure if it has free wifi and or how many outlets for those looking to work or study here. read more
If you've BEAN looking for a cafe that offers beautiful, unique and well-crafted drinks, I would highly recommend checking out @damoteahousela in Koreatown. DAMO literally means tea lady in Korean, and I definitely think this cafe lives up to their name, as well as their newfound Tiktok hype. As someone who is an avid coffee drinker, I was blown away by their Einspener drinks, which are Viennese-style drinks topped with a generous layer of cool, slightly sweetened cream that adds such a beautiful extra dimension of creaminess when mixed in. I tried their strawberry, matcha, and latte Einspener drinks, and I would highly recommend any of these flavors (although I would probably request for the sweetness to be lowered). We also ordered their delicious Damo waffles, which are crafted from Korean mugwort, and are super chewy and mochi-like in texture. Definitely make sure to add their red bean and cream on top to balance the slightly bitter taste of the mugwort! A lot of the reviews do mention that this cafe gets pretty crowded and loud, but my sister and I honestly didn't have much trouble studying once we adjusted to the white noise. I would also recommend staking out a spot on one of tables at either end of the wall, since they're the only ones with outlets. Their wifi is really fast and stable, and the password is available upon request from the staff. Nevertheless, this is probably a better spot for conversations with friends, especially if you prefer quieter cafe environments. read more

Minimalist interior with a lively crowd on a Sunday afternoon. Definitely an aesthetically pleasing spot with friendly staff. Parking can be easy but consider they do have limited parking for all restaurants and cafes in this plaza. It's also ktown so parking isn't simple in this area. Strawberry einspener: cream on top was delicious and comes with regular milk. Strawberry sauce is super sweet so when combined with a sweet cream, it can be a lot. I almost wanted a refill on the milk part. Mango matcha cream: this is not the best flavor combo. I'm sure others love this but this was not for me. Egyptian chamomile: probably our most reasonable drink, good visually, and taste was great. For all drinks, they're really small considering drinks are $7, I'd expect a bit more for this price range. read more
This is literally my favorite place and I think about the matcha mango drink all the time LOL it's definitely a cute place to hang with friends or go for your first Tinder date, and the service is great! Like I said, would highly recommend the mango matcha - it's refreshing and not too sweet! The cups are rather small so $7 is a bit pricey but it's LA lol I will say the drinks need to be a bit more consistent: the first time I went the drink was really good and the second time, there was something off about it and it wasn't my expectations. read more

This place has a free parking lot if you go during the daytime but sometimes it may be full. The place can get a little busy but Imve never waited more than 15-20 min for a drink at most. Honestly, this place has the best einspanners in Ktown and I've been to a lot of cafes: Strawberry milk einspanner - 10/10 Not too sweet Matcha mango - 8/10 Mostly mango flavored and has fresh mango chunks at the bottom Latte einspanner - 9/10 Not too sweet and has a little dusting of cocoa on the top read more

Small but very cute cafe. Stopped by for some dessert and found this place on Yelp. Walked in and there was no wait. Strawberry Bingsu is soo good! Not too sweet and the strawberries are perfect. Almost like candy. The signature Dagwa was a nice touch. My friend ordered it for me to try for the first time. It was a nice traditional tea cookie snack. (Not in photo) the Hojicha iced tea latte is not too sweet. You can definitely taste the authentic brewed tea. I highly recommend. It does give a bit of a nutty like taste afterwards, I personally liked it. Please try a pistachio croissant! They're huge! So nice, fluffy, and outside has a good crunch. I hope you have a chance to come by and try this cafe. Service, servers, food, and vibes are all top notch. I live across the street and I finally checked out Damo! I was under the impression that Damo was more of a tea spot (it still is, but they do have plenty of coffee options). My go to is the iced damo latte and I'm a big fan of the agave syrup and their coffee beans. I'm willing to check out their tea options next time. I've been three times in a week so that says a lot about how much I like Damo. I do wish the space were bigger and had more seating, I think it's just a very popular place so maybe that's why I can never find a place to sit. It gets very packed on weekend mornings so be ready to wait! read more
The inside was spacious with somewhat limited seating, about 5 tables and some bar seating against the window. The parking wasn't bad- luckily it's in a small plaza so there is a lot to park in. The matcha was tasty, sweet, and not super grassy. I think the cream top was a good touch but made the drink too creamy for my liking. I think it was a bit too sweet but overall a good matcha latte. I'd come here again but get the regular matcha latte without the cream top. read more
i love damo i thought the matcha einspanner was good but the chocolate forest might be the absolute best thing on the menu it's amazing and even tho usually these kind of drinks have an overpowering chocolate taste where you can't taste the matcha (cafe upper LMAO) damo balances it well where you can really taste both flavors i always get less sweet which is perfect for me, i need to go back soon to try the hojicha bc it also looks amazing i wouldn't come here to study because the seating is pretty limited but the vibes are great for just talking w friends! read more

Stopped by last Thursday at 11am. Was able to walk right in & order. Not busy. The presentation of the Matcha latte, is beautiful. I added the cold cream. I love the earthy & vibrant taste of matcha. The taste of the Einspenser was mild. Very mild, and the cream perfectly sweet. Probably would come back if I'm already in the area, but definitely wouldn't drive all the way there just to get it. read more
We were browsing around for a lil sweet spot post dinner and kept coming across this place which we found so odd since it seemed like a coffee n tea joint. Luckily, decided to give it a try anyway! :::;:mugwort waffle::::: ~8$ I love that mugwort flavor and this reminded me of those Korean mugwort songpyeon mochis but heated up and crispy on the outside. Soo good. Since it's slightly on the savory side the sweet cream adzuki side was perfection. Let me put you on the BEST matcha latte you'll ever have in your entire existence. I was on a short trip in LA and was in dire need of a matcha latte. I came across DAMO which was only a few minutes from my airbnb and decided to check it out. There were only two parties when I visited but I literally went back the next day to get another drink and the line was out the door. I think the heavens blessed me that first day because it was, no joke, the best matcha latte I've ever had. The Matcha Einspener is $7.75 (+ oat milk for an extra $0.75) and I stayed in that cafe for a little over an hour just sipping on it and taking in the luscious, sweet, earthy, creaminess of it all. The workers (maybe the owners?) were absolute angels, and you could tell how much love they put into their drinks. It's been a few months since I've had it and they literally cross my mind at least once a week. I'd fly back to LA just for another cup :') read more
DAMO is a solid coffeeshop in KTown. The interior is super bright and clean, with several tables to sit at. It's located in a fairly large parking lot, so parking was pretty easy to secure. One random thought I had when I was there was that the customers were all really well dressed--I felt kind of out of place wearing my sweats. I ordered the Hojicha Einspener, while my friend got the Matcha Latte. The hojicha was FANASTIC. It's probably some of the best quality tea that I've had at a coffeeshop, and the cream top was yummy. However, it did feel pretty heavy as a drink, and I think the cream to tea ratio was off. My friend's matcha was just okay; it didn't taste that great and was kind of meh overall. My main complaints are regarding the service and price. The employees were kind of unwelcoming; it was my first time there, and they reacted kind of degradingly when I asked what drinks were the most popular. The drinks also came out to about $7-8 each and were smaller than the ones you get elsewhere. The quality is definitely up there, but I don't know if it's worth it. Thus, I'll probably come back if I'm already in the area but wouldn't prioritize it. read more
