Canadian Walleye (Amandine)
Ryan S.

I got the Canadian Walleye (Amandine), which was ok (3/5). I've had a lot better. The asparagus that came with it was also all right (3/5) but very big. The popover that came with the meal was good (4/5)! It was nice and fluffy with a little crunch! The service was pretty good (4/5), and they have live piano, which create a nicer atmosphere (4/5)!

The Sonoran Barbecue Bacon Burger sounded really good with Vermont cheddar cheese, and I was excited that I could choose rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, or well done. I ordered medium rare but the choices apparently are ignored. I received a very well-done hockey puck of a burger that was missing the cheese. What a letdown. It was simply inedible. The side of onion rings were okay, very large but heavily battered. They did have a good crunch but were way too greasy for me. It was surprising because I've had rings here before and enjoyed them. You can't win them all; if I had dined in I would have sent it all back. :/

First timer at Dangerfields and I will be returning! Our waiter Darrell was so attentive and kind, suggesting favorites from the menu! The vibes in this restaurant are absolutely killer and my new favorite dinner gem to share with friends! The backside of the restaurant is a wall of floor to ceiling windows that faces a beautiful pond filled with swans who kept us quite engaged throughout dinner. Also- get the chocolate tort (10/10)!

I enjoy dining at establishments that take customer service seriously, have great ambiance, and of course have great food. Dangerfield's hit the mark on each of my requirements. On a lovely summer day we chose to be seated on the indoor patio. We had a view of the lake and could see the folks on the outdoor patio. For a late lunch it was sparesly packed. Randy was our server and we decided to start off with some refreshing lemonade options. I had the strawberry lemonade and my friend had the blueberry lemonade. The menu had so many options I did not know where to start. After much deliberation we had a plan. For appetizers we chose the Coconut Shrimp and the Maryland Crab Cakes. Each bite was hmmm hmmm good. I got pleasantly surprised by the delicate texture and balanced flavor of the crab cakes. The coconut shrimp were a perfect blend of crunchy and sweet. I believe the manager of the restaurant graced our table to help things move along and he timed things just right in between us finishing our apps before the entrees arrived. Now for the main course. My friend had the Walleye with stuffed Crab with a side of potatoes while I had the Cajun Chicken Fettuccine, which came with a breadstick. Of course we shared a little bit of this and a little bit of that but I loooved every bite of my Cajun Pasta. But the one garlic flavored buttered breadstick was too good I had to ask for more. When Randy arrived, I pleaded for anothe one and he did me one better, he brought out two garlic breadsticks glazed with butter and I was in heaven...lol. One would think I was stuffed but I paced myself. When Randy brought out the dessert tray I politely declined to exercise self-control. Everything looked so good. But when he heard carrot cake was my fave her brought out a slice on the house! Now, I could not turn that down. We enjoyed every bite and that carrot cake is very high on my list of best carrot cakes I have had.

I came with a group of 40 dental care Professionals for a CE dinner. We all showed up at once. Restaurant staff took our orders and we were served timely within 20-30 min. I had Dangerfield's burger: dangerously yummy. I did not get a pop up bread with my burger and I was jealous of my neighbor..... and too shy to ask for one. We sat downstairs: the air heater kept going on and off which is not pleasant when speaker has no microphone. Parking is ample, however caution necessary getting in and out.

This is a place that appears to have once been great. In a few words, don't go there. Unless you like overpriced, mediocre food. Let me first say the one thing that is an absolute abomination, selling Surimi and calling it "crabmeat". It's wrong, it's unethical, and it should be illegal. Do you really think that's ok, or that people are stupid? I should have known better when I ordered the "Crabmeat Stuffed Shrimp". Not only was it not "stuffed" shrimp, it wasn't crabmeat either. It was unseasoned shrimp covered in a bread crumb and surimi mixture that was placed in an au gratin dish and baked until it was searing hot. It was then served with what tasted like Bearnaise made from a powdered mix. Tip: it's not good. It was served with over-cooked asparagus. The taste from the engineered "crabmeat" was more than I could handle. At least the baked potato was good. I don't know what to think about a place that has table cloths and linen napkins that serves the sour cream in a squeeze packet. As for the rest, the popover is a nice touch. However, it was held too long and was a bit dry and over-done. My companion had the 1/2 rack of ribs and only ate half. That should tell you what he thought of his choice. He had the fries as his potato choice. Again, stunningly disappointing. The fries were the commercial "coated" fries that have that weird starch-like coating that is supposed to make them crunchy and, apparently, more appealing. Nope. He barely touched them. The service was good and the view is lovely. We probably would never return. Maybe for a drink on the patio, but never again on the food.

I appreciate they have real red wine glasses

This is a.3.5 star review. We came bere for happy hour which was good and great prices, half off. The server was attentive which was great. The couple of negatives were they had limited beer as there taps were not working due to flooding in thr basement. Also, due to that there was no electrical for the coolers so the limited beer list was on ice, probably not the best time to go for a beer drinker. The other was the seasoned potatoe wedges are not wedges, they are french fries with some seasoning sprinkled on top, see pic. And the pizza was a bit floppy, was more like a taco to eat, which some like this. Otherwise all the food was food. We got there around 4 and left at 6:45 and it was Tuesday but I think there were two cars in the parking lot beside ours. AndbI onky saw 1 other couple there-Yikes!

Steaks were not restaurant quality. My wife didn't receive the steak she ordered which was less expensive and didn't offer a lower price.

I've been to mallards a few times now and always is amazing!…read more Our usual go to is the shrimp boil for two. This shrimp boil is some of the best in Minnesota that I've had! We've brought countless friends here to try it and it's a heafty feat! You get around 40 to 50 pieces of shrimp, around 10 things of potatoes, six things of corn, and sausage too... it's humongous. You really get your moneys worth! If I'm being honest I haven't tried anything else here but I can assume it's equally amazing! I'm really looking forward to coming back here in the summer and enjoying this on their outdoor patio. But so far really love mallards and will always recommend it as it go to spot for anything seafood related! At our most recent stop our waiter was kind gave us lots of recommendations and was quick to refill our drinks or ask if we needed anything throughout our entire experience. This goes for each time we've been here, the service has always been wonderful. I find it this location really unique and it sits on upscale while also being able to be casual. Thank you Mallards for a wonderful time!

I imagine it would be really nice in the spring/summer as there is a horse track right outside of the restaurant which would provide a great view to a race. It definitely got a little loud just sitting inside They had a large variety of options to choose from on the menu. They also offered a great and surprisingly extensive Happy Hour Menu which we got there in time to take advantage of.  We got the burger and thought it was very tasty, we love a good caramelized onion. I thought it definitely needed some ketchup to balance out the heaviness of the onions and cheese with a little bright acidity. I also thought the patties themselves were very good, thin with a slight crisp to them with a soft bun and melty sauces and cheese. Since it was a happy hour option the burger did not come with any sides like it would have as an entrée. We also got fish tacos and we were a big fan of the slaw and pineapple mayo which brought a balance of sweet and savory to the dish. Only came with two tacos (at least for happy hour) which might not be enough food if you're hungry. The hot smoked salmon was one of the more unique items we tried. The salmon itself was super tasty - salty and smoky just what you want. They use the smaller scraps of salmon that wouldn't work in their Wood-Fired King Salmon entrée and incorporate it into this appetizer which is great sustainability-wise! The salmon came with a creamy ricotta, salty capers, crunchy crostini, and sweet and acidic pickled red onions. We liked this combination a lot but felt it could have used even more sweetness/acidity, maybe just adding a couple more onions to the dish. We really enjoyed the 'Garganelli' pasta dish. It was creamy and indulgent with pieces of lobster and freshly shaved parmesan on top. The chili added a really nice layer of heat but wasn't overpowering. The server was nice enough to split up everything we had over the evening to share (which explains the two small portions in the photo). MN Mule - 8/10 Pretty average but solid mule. However, it was served in a plastic spam cup which elevated the whole experience. Margarita - 9/10 Very good margarita - we were told it was a house made margarita not from a mix. Very bright and fresh flavors that definitely let the tequila shine. Overall would definitely recommend!

They had some nice lunch specials but none of them caught my eye so I had the chicken taco pizza. It tasted fresh and that's exactly what I needed. It was served with sour cream and salsa and topped with lettuce, tomato and olives. The other 2 in my group got the lunch walleye sandwich with chips and the avocado chicken sandwich (she normally always gets a burger). They both said it was ok. I was the happiest with mine. We also shared onion rings and they were decent.

The sauce was rich and flavorful, the chicken cutlet crunchy on the outside, moist and yummy on the inside. There was lots of gooey, melted parmesan cheese. So good. The garlic "toast" was disappointing. It was spongy, soft, and had zero flavor. I couldn't even save it by scooping up sauce because the spongy texture was off-putting. This entree comes with a side garden salad and I ordered the blue cheese dressing. The dressing tasted like mayo with no hint of blue cheese. On my third bite, I uncovered a dead, slimy, rotten piece of arugula and that did it for the salad. Ugh. I definitely recommend the Chicken Parm. Maybe after this they'll tighten up their salad greens and wrap the toast separately from the entree.
