Service was very good and the pop over to start was yummy with the honey butter addition. My server was very prompt and friendly and steered me to a great entree this evening. They have a very nice wine selection a full bar and just a few tap beers on hand. Prices are very reasonable. And the salad bar is only a dollar more over adding a side salad. The single bone in Frenched pork chop was slightly over cooked for my taste. Still juicy bit I would have stopped at an internal temp of 135 so slightly pink inside and juicier. The asparagus is good even though tibia barely Luke warm. Wish it was warmer. The Jack Daniel's sauce was spot on and enhanced the flavor of the chop. The 'ole neighbors suggested we experience some fine dining this evening. Our experience began with with being seated rather slowly. Once seated, it mirrors the experience others shared.... our server showed at least 10 minutes later. The gentlemen with the fancy cuff links showed with our drinks. I was mortified when his hand encompassed the rim of my beer glass. Repulsive. The two soft drinks we ordered were filled once and consumed shortly thereafter. Our food was delivered in a timely manner. Our server never returned to ask how everything was. We finished our meals, and the server was no where to be found. She eventually walked by and my wife had to flag her down. We finally got refills and requested our tab at the same time. They didn't clear the table until long after our meals were finished. The food was mediocre at best. My French Dip was dry and salty. Their famous pop-overs were overcooked and tasted burnt. The butter was fabulous!!!! The ambiance was unusual, with its bright led Edison bulbs cranked, glossy varnished Oak, burgundy and green walls. Thank God for the butter. Anyways, we will never return. read more

Food is overpriced and is something you could make at home. Decor is outdated. They put paper sheets on the table for easy cleaning but it's constantly getting in the way because of how it is draped too far over the table. Server was nice at first but as soon as we didn't order drinks he took a turn and ignored us. My meal was $18, but could have been cheaper if they only had the one Chicken breast instead of two. This is a great restaurant, for the second time we have had an association get together here. A group of 20 or so and they have gone out of their way To accommodate us. Kudos to Randy and Jenelle who went above and beyond to make it a fun experience. The food always excellent and the ambiance is consistent with a supper club. We were extremely disappointed with our visit to Dangerfields, two days after Christmas. The place was dead, which I now understand why. Even though they were practically empty, it still took a full hour and a half for our table of 9's food to come out, and then was dropped all over the floor, leaving half of our table still hungry with nothing offered by the staff to tide us over while we had to wait even longer for our food to be prepared again. The food that we did receive was lukewarm and nothing special. While we were waiting for our food to come out, I asked to speak with a manager because our server hasn't come back out to offer soup or salad or anything. I was told that only the owner was there but that he was busy and would come out later. He never came out, and all we were offered after being there for two hours was free dessert, which literally took another 20 minutes to receive. Huge regret even bothering with that. We received no discount and barely any acknowledgement of the horrible service. Oh, and they screwed up our bills. Please don't waste your time at this establishment. Like others, I found myself at Dangerfields after purchasing a groupon discount. If you want a short review, I'll give it to you here...not even worth it with the discount. The place reminds me of a huge version of my grandparents house. Old stinky decor, shabby tables and chairs, and drab color scheme. We were seated at a table overlooking the pond in the back, and in retrospect, the location and view was the highlight of the night. At least we had some entertainment during our long periods of inattention. There was an adorable family of raccoons in the trees out back that helped us pass the time. We ordered the sirloin bites appetizer, and immediately stumbled upon a theme was would continue through all the courses: there was absolutely no seasoning in the dish whatsoever. Even the horseradish sauce was lacking spice...it tasted more like tsatziki. I had the french onion soup, and it really wasn't bad, except the fried onions on top of the soup were again completely bland, not even salt or pepper. My wife had an uneventful salad. For an entree, I ordered pan fried walleye. The filet was sizable, but cooked unevenly; firm and flaky at one end, hard and dry at the other. It was lightly breaded on seemingly just flour (no salt, pepper, nothing). The filet was served with soggy asparagus and an overdone loaded baked potato that was missing of all things, sour cream. My wife ordered Filet Tournedos. They arrived on the high side of medium even though she ordered medium rare. The reorder came out at the proper temperature, but again, just had the taste of meat and char. No seasoning whatsoever. My wife generally cooks with very little salt, and I understand that salt is a very subjective taste, but bland is bland. This was not $20+/ entree cuisine. I've had better at, well almost everywhere. On the plus side, our server was very pleasant, if a bit flustered at the obvious poor performance of the kitchen. We rewarded her for her sweet demeanor even though she was spending most of her time tending to a large table seated after we came in. The decks seemed like a nice place for a drink, and there is a mosquito screen that looks like it keeps those little buggers at bay. I will not return to Dangerfields. I am not sure how it survives. With my coupon ($50 off for $25), we paid 48.00 for dinner with the tip (25+23). read more

It's not often I'm prompted to write an extensive review of any establishment, but Dangerfields needs more attention. First impressions, the parking lot had quite a few cars in it, but it turns out there were some groups on the patio that accounted for most of them. At most, there were 4-5 tables occupied on a Sunday brunch. Walking in, the decor was out of date (finished wood, tacky fake gold railings, crazy color patterns on the fabric, window awnings on the inside, etc). All of this can be overlooked, however. I didn't plan on getting the brunch, but at first glance it looked pretty decent. We sat down and service was slow given the number of patrons in the establishment. Ordered a drink, and went up to the buffet. The plates are huge, and there was a giant spread of food. Upon further inspection, nothing on the brunch spread was fresh. Things had clearly been sitting there for quite a while, and was already discolored. Some of the dishes were scooped out of the middle and all that remained was overcooked remnants around the rim. I would say out of the 30-some items on the buffet, 5-7 of them were edible. I tried a little bit of everything that looked okay, and really the only thing that wasn't gross were the scrambled eggs (I had to dig them out from under the crusty top layer). Waffles looked amazing, but required a knife because they were rock hard. Salmon looked like it was delicious, it had no moisture left over whatsoever. Had the cook-to-order omelet line not been backed up, i would have had one. The owners of this establishment need to reconsider their "pride of Shakopee" tagline on the website, this was quite terrible. To quote my girlfriend: " This was the most unsatisfying brunch of my entire life." Perhaps they should put less items out on the buffet, in smaller sizes, and rotate them more frequently. They should sit down and watch a couple seasons of Kitchen Nightmares. Caveat emptor. read more

Bad service and the like can be overcome by great food, but the opposite is not true. It doesn't matter how nice the restaurant, or friendly the service, if you food is awful, the restaurant is awful. The food at Dangerfield's is awful. The Fish, of the Fish & Chips apparently was left in the frier overnight. The viscosity of their salad dressings & tarter sauce must be designed for old people to easily consume through a tube or straw. Got glass of Bogal wine on the menuafter a few sips noticed the glass had dishwasher spots on it and lipstick on the rim. Told the sever, got me another glass, glass still had spots on it and may have had some lipstick on it but hard to tell. Food was decent. Girlfriend meal online said 19.99 and menu said 23 and when we got the bill it was 29. Wine was 7.50 on the menu and 8.50 on the bill. Getting seated and waiting for a service took awhile. read more

Disappointing visit last night with a large group of friends. Restaurant has a nice atmosphere inside and comfortable casual dining on the lightly-screened deck. However food and service was mediocre, particularly for the price point. We had three servers attending our table of 24 folks, however they kept stumbling over themselves to keep our orders straight and checks managed. Food was slow to arrive, and some folks had to wait longer than others. My steak was overcooked. My potato was nicely-baked but otherwise uninspired (just packaged butter and sour cream on the side). And the fried shrimp were close to what you'd find in the freezer aisle. Popovers were nice, and so was the peanut-butter crunch dessert. 20% gratuity included automatically on check, despite service worthy of less. read more

Such a beautiful place filled with nasty entitled people. Aside from my personal experience with this establishment (Which isn't that great) I'd like to comment on how management talks to and treats their employees. I've known a few friends and family members who've been employed here and have regretted ever working for and around such assholes. Dangerfield's used to be looked at as a higher end, respectable place of business. Somewhere where you could go for "fine dining", not cold food and staff who are inconsiderate to people's feelings. If that's the case, I'd rather attend a family holiday. Anytime I or anyone I've known has tried to contact management, I've been told they're "too busy to accept my call, and to call back a different day or time." We were surprised to see Dangerfield's offers comedy shows! We love to take in some local comedy and they didn't disappoint. The restaurant has an old world feel that is a perfect vibe and the appetizers were delicious! The comedy show is on the lower level and it reminded me a lot of the setup at Acme. Went for dinner with 8 and they didn't have three things we selected in the menu, couldn't make 3 pretty standard cocktails, the server communicated ineffectively, the steak was not edible - tremendously tough meat prepared medium and medium rare (twice), a salad was swimming (literally a 1/2") in dressing at the bottom of the bowl. he Mrs. and I were in Shakopee on an errand, and needed food. She suggested Dangerfield's, as several of her former co-workers had used it to entertain clients. She is pretty good about food, and I am usually up for an adventure. I chose three stars, because it deserves three and a half, but in no way is deserving of four. The music was too loud for a mostly empty restaurant. Wife's french onion soup was very good, my steak and potato soup wasn't, but I am generally not a soup eater, so I attributed it to me. The popovers that came with the soup were not bad, but not good. They ran out of popovers while we were waiting for our food, so we figure maybe we had the tail end of a previous batch. Fresh would have been much better. My coconut shrimp was disappointing enough that I sent it back to be redone. The refire batch was just as problematic as the first plate, Never in my life had I had such tough and chewy shrimp. Either the cook has no clue how to cook coconut shrimp, or this restaurant got a batch of super chewy and tough shrimp. About this time, I was very disappointed, and dreading my actual entree. I will now point out that the window overlooking the pond is a great place to be seated, and the view is quite nice. We overheard a waitress telling some stories about the building, involving a tunnel and some other interesting history. Interesting, and the ducks in the pond were fun to watch. Arriving at the table next were my pork chops in Jack Daniels sauce and my wife's steak. Her steak was cooked to a proper rare, and my pork chops were quite delicious. Both our entrees were delicious, and though the entrees saved the meal, I still have to be honest about the disappointment at the beginning. Will I go again? Maybe, but I think it will have to be at supper time, when they are more likely to have plenty of fresh everything. I also do not have a problem with the decor. I hate abstract art and trendy crap. My Dinner was WONDERFUL! I had Filets crusted with blue cheese, roasted asparagus and mashed potatoes. The meal was the best I have had in a long time, The service was great. I think her name was Kate (I might have forgotten). She was so nice and very helpful! I will return often and try other entrees. I was disappointed that the bar prices are much too high. I will not have liquor the next time I eat at Dangerfield's. Happy Hour 1/2 price makes the drinks a regular price. Popover good almost overdone. Food was good but on the higher $$ salads extra. My daughters steak was ho-hum my crab stuffed walleye was great. My wife's salmon was good. My oven roasted potatoes cold and served in a side dish like it had been just sitting around waiting for someone to order it. This has a very old school supper club feel. The popovers were delicious! Maple butter was delicious! The service was good, not elegant, but thorough. This particular night in September the day was 90 degrees and the restaurant felt like it was 80 degrees. I felt like I needed to be in a bikini! Our waitress had sweat dripping off her forehead. The food was sort of mixed review. My dad liked his blue cheese beef medallions except for the one that was overcooked. He said even kept eating when he was full it was so good. My brother on the other hand typically eats his food in two seconds and goes looking for more but he left some of his beef on his plate, can't remember what kind he got. I got Parmesan crusted walleye and it like something you could've bought frozen in the packet from Target and the Target cheap brand. Maybe not even that good. My mom also got a walleye almandine. She left half of it. My daughter had walleye crab and she ate the whole thing with no complaints. The 10-year-old ate his entire cheeseburger in almost one gulp. The cheesy potato sides were amazing! They came with a tray of desserts to show us and three or four of us had desserts. No complaints about those and they ate them. read more
