I love hibachi and have grown up going to this Osaka location. Recently, my girlfriends and I went back and had a fabulous experience. Food and Drink - alcohol was sooo surprisingly cheap here, we were able to get bottles of wine at a lower price than like any other restaurant I have been to. Obviously, the food was delicious, you cannot go wrong with Hibachi. I got fried rice and chicken dunked in the yum yum sauce and left so satisfied. We also had so much sake from the chef, which is so fun seeing how long you can go and the whole restaurant cheering. Service - they are attentive and made sure our waters and wine glasses stayed full. The food service is right in front of you so obviously that is good. Ambience - It is a party, I feel like you go to hibachi to celebrate and have fun and you are able to do just that. My type of environment with the low lighting, but not so much you need a flashlight for the menu. It was clear they had experience handling group sizes of all types and they were not shy on the saké. Plenty of parking and I was content with the cook on both the rice and the meat. The hibachi was entertaining and even if you are there for an event like a birthday or not, you will still enjoy your time. Osaka has the best hibachi! They were able to accomodate my group of 18 people with a reservation and service was so friendly. The food is fresh and flavorful, and the hibachi chefs are so fun and enthusiastic. Our drinks never were empty and the chefs did a great job serving the whole group around the same time. The hibachi tables are in sets of 2 grills, with one chef for each side of the table. Each side of the table can comfortably seat around 10 adults. Had takeout from Osaka and it hit the spot! Their California roll was very basic but they give you large pieces. The hibachi dinner is always good. Adequately sauced and large enough to share. The chicken and steak were juicy and tender. The yum yum sauce provided also gives an added sweet tangy flavor that is sure to be a crowd favorite. Who doesn't love Osaka! The hibachi grill is awesome as well as the sushi, but I love the show and the nummy smells as they cook their hibachi. Get this my 4 year old granddaughter is the one that requested to eat here, she said Grandma can we go to the place with the clear soup with mushrooms and their shrimp and noodles. Then said I can tell you how to get there and she did. 4 Years old! I had a drink of their specialty board called the sparky pony that was super light and crisp too. There soup is so flavorful along with their great soy/ginger dressing on the salad and anything on the flat griddle is wonderful with their regular white rice or fried rice then their "NUMMY" sauce is so good drizzled ov er everything. Brought my parents here for dinner & they loved it & they are picky people I must say. We've been going to Osaka when we are nearby for years now and the food and service are always consistent. The hibachi in back is certainly lively and entertaining, but we primarily go for the rolls and it is fun to sit in the front dining area and watch them being made. Our absolute favorites are the Mango Hawaii Roll, Buddha Roll and the Oshinko Roll. We also enjoy the California Roll and the Royal Pink Roll. First time visiting Osaka seafood Steakhouse and we really enjoyed our experience. We made reservations ahead of time and were seated immediately. There was one other family at our hibachi table. Our chef was talented, entertaining and fun. We started with fried rice. I chose shrimp, my fav, but rest of family had combos of chicken and steak. We already had so much food and then the chef started cooking noodles. It was a ton to eat but the leftovers were boxed for future meals. The food was great and experience fun. Service was good. My eight-year-old asked if we could have hibachi for his birthday. A friend recommended Osaka so we decided to check it out. When we pulled into the parking lot, We were a little concerned. It's in a strip mall that's super dated and dirty. We made it inside and it was much larger on the inside and fairly nice. We had a reservation and they took us to our hibachi table. Kids meals cost about $11 and if you're older than 10, you have to pay for the adult meal that's triple the price. Two things to note: 1- Fried rice is five dollars extra. It was delicious, but I didn't know it was so much extra, on top of the already steep price. 2 - I asked if drinks were included in the kids meal and was told yes. When we got the bill, I was charged three dollars for each of their lemonades. Overall, the food was good and the service was awesome!! It was so entertaining. Pretty upset with this experience first time having hibachi in Minnesota just moved out here. My husband has liver failure was not told that he was having alcohol sprayed in his mouth until he realized and spit it out when I asked the manager why they didn't let us know that ahead of time she pretty much told me she didn't care and it wasn't her problem and hung up on me. I've never had anything so unprofessional happened before in my life. My husband did not think anything of it being alcohol because my 11 year-old daughter they did it to her first assuming it was water but I guess he switched the bottles so for never being there before and this being the first experience I am just floored with the way that the manager handled the situation. read more

Perhaps I should have known this, but the perpetual and loud "happy birthday" celebrations were obnoxious. Even when they weren't celebrating a birthday, it was very loud. I couldn't hear the waitress or the chef so I just nodded my head when they spoke to me. I gave the food a "4" because my husband's sushi was excellent! My local sushi go-to. The food is always good bang-for-the-buck and the staff is truly wonderful. I go here for me-time as often as I take the whole family, and the servers remember my kids and make them feel so special. They sometimes even make balloon animals for the kids! Very cute. The atmosphere is higher end and translates well to both calm, intimate evenings and fun, upbeat get-togethers equally. Food was absolutely amazing! We got two sushi rolls and two hibachi dinners (one chicken, one shrimp). Highly recommend this place for the food. Now the service was fantastic! By far best service I've had in a long time. Everyone worked as a team, everything was quick, and everyone was extremely friendly. The only reason I could not give the fifth star was due to the noise level. The hibachi area is extremely loud, you can hardly hear the person next to you and I honestly had a pretty big headache after five minutes sitting there. We ended up moving to dining area where you could still hear the echos of the hibachi area but much more manageable. I was there celebrating my birthday with friends. At the end of the meal, without even asking they bring out this not so great fried banana and giant pink head. They expect you to put this giant head on, who knows what kind of germs are festering in it. At this point I said I didn't want it but the waiter proceeded to sing the birthday song. I'm torn... I took my daughter here today for lunch and got two salmon teriyaki bento boxes, one with water and the other with a Pepsi. Food was great as usual and it appears to be like any of my other visits over the years. However, there was a surprise in stored today... I boxed up my daughters leftovers and paid the bill. As I passed the hostess desk and almost reached the door, I heard someone call out "sir, excuse me sir." But I figured it couldn't been anyone calling for me as there should be no reason. But yes, it appears she was trying to get my attention. Our waiter apparently didn't add the Pepsi fountain drink on the ticket and that I needed to pay for it. It was confusing what she was trying to tell me but I ultimately understood when she printed out the $2.95 ticket for the Pepsi. In the end, I was just shocked the events transpired the way they did. I've been going there for years, to the point where the waitress knew exactly what I get along with how I always substitute the roll out in my Bento box. I'm not saying that simply because I'm a regular patron that I deserve any special treatment like free drinks or anything. I'm torn on what to think. 2 stars. I'm giving 2 stars because I love the Osaka in general - but am very disappointed in my resent visit or lack there of a visit. I called on Monday to make reservations for my family of 5 on Friday (Valentines Day) I honestly thought I would be told that they were booked up for the night and was CRAZY surprised when they said they had a 7:45 reservation open for hibachi. Yay! My family and I showed up at 7:30pm. The lobby was insane. It was crazy packed you couldn't even walk through. We stood around for 20 minutes, 5 minutes past our reservation and started to speak amongst each other about if we would even get in on time. The couple standing next to me said they had a reservation at 6:30pm and were STILL waiting (it was 7:50 at this point). So we decided to walk out and leave disappointed. No way was I going to wait until after 9:00 to feed my family. I'll definitely be back because I love the food - but I will NEVER go back to the Apple Valley location. You over booked your reservations. You failed to plan. You failed to communicate. You disappointed MANY peoples nights. AND we were standing by the host station and people were calling in asking for wait times and were being told 20-30 minutes. WHAT?! Why lie? This was awful. My husband and I frequent Osaka for their quality and service. I received the chicken teriyaki for my to go order and there was no description about it being on a bed of vegetables, it contained asparagus which I'm allergic to. I tried a piece of the chicken that didn't have veggies under it and it was sawdust. The tempura was soggy & greasy. The roll had avocado that had blackened at the end of it, there's no way you would serve that in the restaurant. Poor choices. The only thing edible in my order was the salad and miso soup. The order number was 17091 on 8/19. So very dissapointed. read more

We used to order takeout from here weekly. But they put too much sauce on their sushi rolls. They are swimming in sauce and falling apart by the time we arrive home. Service is friendly and the fish is very fresh. They do have a few specials and will make special combos for you. We do eat inside occasionally but there is still the problem of too much sauce. Hands down, our favorite Apple Valley restaurant. We've had the hibachi but 99% of the time, we go for the sushi. Specifically, our "go to" includes white tuna sashimi, hamachi Kama (broiled yellowtail jaw) and then any of the speciality rolls, some favorites being Winter roll, Valentine's Roll and really ANY others. I am so glad my friends took me out to Osaka one day last year. I never even knew it existed, and if I had I probably wouldn't have thought there would be a place like this in a strip mall like that. When you walk in it's like walking into a different world. Osaka is probably my favorite restaurant around here. It is 10x better than Benehana if only for their shrimp sauce alone (but trust me, there are plenty of other reasons). I love to sit at the hibachi grill. The filet mignon is so tender that you can take leftovers home and reheat it and it's STILL tender. The fried rice is not included with the meal (you can upgrade for $3 or so) but it is so good you have to upgrade. I like to flip over the little bowl it comes in on my plate and keep it warm until the food is done. Then I throw some of the aforementioned shrimp sauce on it and it tastes like absolute heaven. Osaka also has great sushi. Every time I've ordered it it's been very fresh and delicious. If you sit in the regular restaurant you can watch the sushi chef prepare your sushi rolls right there. If it's your birthday they put this crazy, frightening (to me at least) paper mache mask on your head, play a birthday song and fire up the disco lights. It's pretty funny. read more

I would normally give this place 5 stars, but we had to wait an hour to be seated even after a reservation was made. But it is hard to stay angry with such good service, food, and entertainment. I love the Saki gulping and the extras you don't get at Benihana. Sure it isn't as classy, but the other experiences make up for it. read more
